I talk about religious imagery in yellowjackets all the time but it wasn’t until I made this that I noticed that they all knelt down to take jackie into their mouths almost like the eucharist (jackie’s death and lottie’s notion that jackie would have wanted it this way for the baby, symbolizing death and rebirth the same way that sacrament does)… insane of them if you ask me

Good because it wasn't the prettiest situation. Z!Phil suddenly disappearing had not happened prior to this. There was a routine! Z!Phil spent a lot of his time tending to their little garden. He still gets distracted a lot but overall he's always there. A constant. And with him being injured Z!Tubbo is used to checking on him. Z!Tubbo's guilt over Z!Phil's injuries eats him alive until the two of them have a talk(that one comic i posted hehe) much later. Z!Phil going missing one morning freaked him the fuck out.

Z!Tubbo coulda fell to his knees when he came back to the base after Z!Roier had already found him. Thank god Z!Phil didn't wander too far this time, am I right?

So there was an episode I saw about Casper and well... The thing that made me a little giggly is the fact that Stretch is singing little Casper a lullaby and knows how to care for him. I know it was just supposed to be Casper as a baby and played off as a joke. But, at the same time, it’s so funny and so strange (I say this is a good way) to see him get all happy about caring about something.

And to actually hear the words “my baby!” when Casper is back to his ghostly normal self AND hug him right as he says that? Almost made me emotional for a second. I thought someone was lying to me, but oh man. I was mistaken

In SoCal, it’s all tacos. Pizza? Tacos. Tacos tacos tacos. BIRRIA tacos. BBQ. Tacos. Korean tacos??? Tacos. Pizza! Tacos. Extremely fancy tiny burgers at one per person for an insane amount of money. Tacos.

Which for ME isn’t a problem, but for my poor pastry who doesn’t like Mexican food… I want to find him a noodle truck. And HERE, noodle trucks are a dime a dozen. They’re the frequency of taco trucks in SoCal. Ethiopian food truck? Yep. Halal food trucks? Oh for sure. Greek food truck? Duh. Burgers? Naturally.

But I did find a taco truck that’s like, very much the gringo side of Mexican food that does a very lite Asian fusion in their tacos that I think would be okay with scone.

But damn I wish I could get him a noodle truck. I need a noodle truck that does small events in Orange County.

RIGHT omg like. On one hand we have a person who is authentically compassionate, is capable of acting outside of her own self-interest more often than not, doesn’t take out her emotions on the people around her, and owns her mistakes and shortcomings. On the other hand we have a person who is none of those things, and is furthermore a violent control freak who categorically abuses those closest to him. These are fundamental differences in the way these two characters interact with the world and others, which is far more significant in a comparison than any surface-level similarities. Liking cars and jerky does not a “same person different fonts” make.

Like lol I mean… I won’t be wholly disingenuous, I’m not going to pretend Mary and Dean have no commonalities whatsoever, because they do. In my take I’d say they both have something of a lying habit that they view not as necessarily harmful but as protecting others, as well as a tendency toward self-destructive behaviour and definitely some kind of saviour complex(?). But those similarities are still not nearly enough, in my opinion, to overshadow the fact that these two characters are otherwise, as outlined above, pretty much morally and socially disparate people. Which is to say, very much not the “literal same”.

It also just feels so reductive and honestly lazy to just write Mary off as just Dean: the Prequel or whatever and leave it at that. People do much the same with Claire (Dean 2: Simba’s Pride) and even with Max Banes (Dean the 3rd), and honestly it’s kind of. Dismal. That these characters can’t just stand on their own for a significant portion of the fandom and have to be reduced to “Dean mirrors” to warrant any thought, and are then only really thought about through that lens. Like I’m sorry that is NOT the deep character analysis you think it is 😭

#It’s not even that I think parent-child comparisons in character analysis don’t have merit because I do #Like from my perspective Crowley and Rowena share some fascinating similarities that I like writing about #But it’s also not the be all end all to either of their characters for me #And more than that I don’t think it’s a stretch to say they’re similar people in the first place. #But it’s really obvious to me that Mary in situ is actually so much closer to how people wish/pretend Dean is #than Dean in situ is actually is. #The “secret good” fanon Dean might be Mary in a different font (in a nearly literal sense too) but canon Dean is not #That’s just my opinion anyway #Ask #Dean critical #Also. After reading your tags i cant help but ask, what is your opinion on Margaret George and her 3 Tudor novels (Confessions of Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scotland and Elizabeth I)? From your tags i hey you arent very Happy about Henry's characterization why is it so? Do you think she "got" anyone right? she seems to be a very respected author in this field, much more than Weir and Gregory. Have you read any of her other historical novels? Helen of Troy, Cleopatra, Nero, the Magdalene...

I mean, I wouldn't say it wasn't entertaining, he just seemed very caricaturized, almost? Also really hated her characterization/section on AB, it did remind me a bit of Weir's in hindsight, actually (authors including Eric Ives' bio in their bibliographies and then writing her that way...I just don't understand it... this happened with one by Kate Emerson I read semi-recently and yet in the novel AB poisons her stepdaughter, Bess Holland, and also the 'Imperial Lady', and, oh, for good measure, it's apparently her own fault Purkoy died because one of her ladies 'tested' what they suspected to be poisoned food by giving it to him).
