Yes, I do! Thanks for asking. My favorite is definitely the Black and White Prom Party Festa performance. Why? Because at that time they were frequently referred to as the black and white couple and they chose to embody that with this performance. 🥰 Plus starting the performance as 🐰🐥 was 👌🏼 perfect. My second favorite is the reason I started down this Jikookie journey and that was the black and white tuxedos that they wore for their Arirang performance at KCon France 2016. Actually, the too cool for school fan meeting at that KCon is why I became a Jikookie. And that is why my icon is them holding hands in those outfits all these years later.

[Music is a very big part of my life and I’m MOSTLY INCAPABLE of writing without music, so I just thought I'd share what I am listening to while writing this]

This week has been a bit messy hasn’t it? And to top the madness all off, though I’m sure we are all happy to see that JK is doing well, thanks to his IG updates, it would have been great to “hear” from Jimin as well 🥹at this point is like, I know you working but, help a sister out you know? Like we be “worrying”/hella selfish here in this neck of the woods, like … jimiii↗️↘️iiin, I MISS SO MUCH IT HURTS 😭. So I thought I’d stop by to write something … cute me thinks? I think we can all use some fluffy, tender and light STD: Speculations, Thoughts and Delulu. In fact, the idea for this post was the result of me reading this post → Jikook After Tokyo by @wingzie. So welcome to another long ass post! 

Though wingzie’s post was clearly about both JM and JK, I haven’t been able to shake off the image of Jimin blushing/being shy. I’ve always felt like Park Jimin is the kind of human being who, at least until circa pre-2018, would instantly wear his heart on his sleeve full-throttle. As of present, he seems to be much more in control with regards to the majority of emotions that he can control, sometimes even resorting to smart talk/ cynicism as a substitute as well. But oh boi, it used to be that we were always made aware of any kind of emotion he felt from little happiness and ecstasy to pet-peeves and straight up being bothered.

The only time we are now privy of a non-controlled emotion from Jimin is when he blushes/gets shy. There are infinite reasons why different people get shy. Some people get shy out of being complimented, some people get shy just being in the proximity of the person they maybe fancy, some people get shy when put on the spot, etc etc etc. When it comes to JM, what in my opinion, seems to be his shy trigger are situations where he REALLY doesn’t know what to do. So he “blushes” or becomes “shy”, so to say, and in his case it seems to happen mostly on 2 particular scenarios:

He is out of depts, not in his element, doesn't want us to know, and he is well aware that it will show on his face.

He hasn’t yet processed his feelings with regards to a certain situation. Hence, he hides his face so that we don’t see how he is feeling in that moment, before he himself can actually process what it is that he is even feeling.

Now, though JM has admitted on many occasions that he is indeed the shiest member of the band, people who are just focused on his performance persona, or just observe him within his comfort zone (which is for example anything with his members RUN BTS, BON VOYAGE etc) will not notice this side of him all, in fact they might even think that he is “capping”.

However, if you keep a closer eye on our dancing fallen-angel-who-actually-still-has-wings, you’ll pick up on his shy moments, which are usually a direct reaction to something that is happening or just happened. To begin with, all members LOVE to “flirt”with him you can harmlessly flirt with someone if you are close to said person and their S/O , or just pull him into “weird situations”, maybe just so they can see that cute blushing face he does. Other known Personalities also love complimenting him and in general JM just really gets flustered by regular attention and simple compliments. It really happens quite often, NGL he is so freaking cute, he knows it but can’t really handle his own cuteness, which makes everyone else act stupid: HE IS EFFING CUTE FAM, like the following:

BUT then … THEN … Then there is another type of JM shy/blushing reaction …

I hereby present to you the UJE: Unknown JK Effect.

The UJE is a reaction that is brought about for reasons that are for the most part unknown, or the actual cause itself is known but the reaction is still bizarre, meaning that in said particular moment, or instance, JK is doing absolutely nothing suspicious or worth blushing/being shy over, yet JM can’t seem to be able to control his reactions and turns into a shy/blushing mess. 

Back in the day, when JM was a little younger, and much more impulsive, it would even cause his own self to be disoriented for a second or two. For example when, during the Hondgae Fansign on February 26, 2017, JM placed his hand on JK’s neck and kissed it. I have no idea what made him do something so bold, but his following, momentary, lack of orientation probably was a visual representation of his brain going: “... Yo Bro! Whacchu doin’ Bro?! You ayte there Bro?!” Jin’s reaction was PRICELESS, even though, TBH with you, JK’s reaction was the MOST PECULIAR, but that is a story for another post … (The moment is starts at 2:33).

BUT, moving, as I kept looking into this “phenomenon” there seems to have been a few instances, 3 to be exact, where the UJE might have actually been directly connected to moments in the “Jikook Timeline” where there was a change in dynamic or something significant happening. Now, as always, the following are all MY speculation, MY opinion, hence, tread with caution:

INSTANCE 1: 2015 - “KOOLIET” WAKES UP

2015 is the year where JK seems to have decided “You know what? Fuck it!”. There are various accounts of the boys letting us know that JK is different on, as opposed to off camera, and at this point in time, from the different VLOGS, interviews and BANGTAN BOMBS we know that JM and JK are actually quite close. The whole JM chasing JK, JK ranking JM last, etc was regrettably all meant to provide entertainment in accordance to the entertainment norms of the time.

However, our Bangtan Boys had always been the exception to the rule, from the very conception. These are 7 humans, who start with following rules at the very start because they didn’t understand “the game” they were playing but even then, they already had very strong personalities and were very much set on their ways, beliefs and ideas and that's probably why BANG PD chose them to begin with. He was REALLY hoping that by choosing extraordinary beings, with the potential for greatness and with some sort of guidance, they would achieve something GREAT. Actually, I sometimes wonder when exactly was it that BANG PD had that moment where he went: “Shiiiiit … they the real real REAL deal!”

But as always, I digress … Back to the point! In the same way Jin decided to throw away his assigned “mysterious handsome character” in my opinion Tae never really acknowledged his character to begin with LOL, eventually JM became ready to let his true self out, hence, renounced the “macho unrequited-love character.” But, don’t go trippin’, JK didn’t snooze either. He sure saw and felt the change, INSTANTLY, and went “Ayte then. Imma also go for mine then. With all due respect, I respect all of y’all Hyungs, but … Imma need one of y’all hyung to get one thing straight  😬🥴 … 😏” 

And so JK got to work, and JM …JM … JM was caught off guard. Because the Golden Maknae started publicly changing the game, apparently, without letting him know. All of a sudden, JK publicly didn’t dislike him, JK publicly thought that he was handsome, JK was publicly having “little fits” when JM was maybe interacting with other members. JK made his message REALLY clear and even though JM might have been a bit resistant at the beginning, as he began to embrace the change and perhaps navigate through what these changes would entail, JM shyly enjoyed the moments and at the end of 2015, he seems to have given it whatever IT was a chance and began to go with JK’s flow.

As a quick reminder: I absolutely do not believe the whole “JM fell first but JK fell harder” and if you do, absolutely no shade on you; to each their own. I’m a believer in:

Cupid was already there calmly planning their love story but JK was like “yeah, so, I believe in fate and all, but, I’m not really big on waiting so, yeah, see you at the finish line, ayte? Ayte! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️💨”

BPP, I've been following you for some years now. On your old blog before the Ricin incident happened and now on your new blog here. I'm lurker who appreciates the context and history you provide about fandom behavior and how BTS fits within kpop. Though I'm a Stay and multi, your arguments about kpop fans reactions to BTS and Armys counter reactions to kpop fans and the industry always looked reasonable /consistent to me.

But to make sure I don't stay in an echo chamber, I follow other bloggers with opposing views. There are some bloggers who are very critical of Army, BTS, Hybe, and especially RM/Namjoon, constantly complaining about the music and the fandom, so it is obvious their bias plays a role in their analysis and discourse. Which is another thing I remember you saying about what makes up 'discourse' in kpop. Some of those bloggers like Jimin so I was wondering if they would give his song more charitable reviews or rely on the same tropes they've been saying about BTS members and Army for years. Since Jimin's SMFP2, they have not just given it a charitable view, they've thrown out all the tropes they used for BTS and Army. And while I expected that reaction since their bias is so evident, I was still surprised. Their analysis of his work compared to other BTS members is like night and day. I wouldn't mind if they like Jimin only and just spent more time talking about him bc of that, but those bloggers set themselves up as analysts of kpop and BTS in general. It felt frustrating for me to see that though that is a behavior you predicted. I'm just shocked at how little high quality comprehensive critics there are in kpop, and it makes me appreciate your content more though I don't always agree with you.

In your Ricin incident post you said you'll be leaving Tumblr soon. I sent you an ask last December asking you to stay but you never posted it. I wonder if you're still considering leaving, or if you have changed your mind. Another request: can you pls add your BTS member profiling posts to your masterlist? You wrote one about why Hobi has less bias in the Army fandom months ago. I found it so interesting but I've not been able to find it since.

Can you send another ask or DM to remind me exactly which Hobi post you're talking about so I can link it for you? I try to keep my Masterlist as clutter-free as possible, sticking only to the long-form 'discoursey' posts so they don't get lost in the noise. And because many of those posts are from old BPP, posts that pissed off people enough to want to physically harm me, so they get the place of honour, front and center on new BPP. I'll consider adding more member-focused posts to the Masterlist though.

What I actually said in the 'Ricin post', is

"...I plan to keep this blog as a sort of archive... I have less time to spend on Tumblr, and so it might take me longer to respond to your asks and I generally won’t be as active on here. Over time, this blog will become dormant."

That was in July 2022. And I think in the time since then, my followers have experienced that my posting pattern is irregular already, with long stretches of time in between. This blog will eventually fall into more irregular use, i.e. become dormant, because that's just how the cookie crumbles folks. BPP is a blog that happened by accident and since getting a double promotion at work recently, as much as I enjoy interacting with many people here and being active constantly, it's just not a viable option for me. I'll be here until I'm not. That's really all I can say.

Aside, I'm not saying this to be modest, but I'm not certain I appreciate the tone in your ask about my blog relative to other bloggers. We can all tell when someone does not critically examine their bias of a group or fandom in discourse, but that's also the norm in k-pop. Why penalize them for acting exactly like most other people in this space since there's clearly a desire among k-pop fans for that sort of space? I write what I write to educate on all the sorts of players in this system and why the system runs the way it does. If you're going to criticize certain bloggers for acting as they've always done in this system but not the system itself, then what's the point? All you're doing is nullifying that energy and we're all back at square one, and there is no net positive. You know what I mean? If you used the same tone in the ask you sent last December, that's probably a reason I didn't post it. Just FYI.

Set Me Free Pt 2 is a legitimate masterpiece. It's good enough to turn anyone into a fan, so some bloggers reacting favourably to it feels like a given to me, whether or not they bias him. Jimin on even the best days, is the most polarizing figure in BTS, and probably in all of k-pop. The direction he went for in Set Me Free Pt 2 is very on brand for him, because it's unexpected and because of what led up to it. In all the ~10 years I've been following Jimin, SMF Pt 2 is what solidified my idea of who Jimin is in my head. He has produced one of the most forward-thinking music in the industry (sonically) this year and it's only March. You said you're a Stay and multi so I'm curious, have you streamed Set Me Free Pt 2 today?

[**] Edit: For any of my new followers and just in case Anon you’re not aware, my blog is firmly Jikook-affirming. What I mean is I like Jimin, I like Jungkook, I love watching them interact and I think they have a beautiful relationship. Many of the blogs I follow and that I tagged above also speak favourably about Jikook, as individual members and as a pairing in BTS. I recognize that some people prefer jikook-biased bloggers, others don’t care for it, and others are indifferent, so here’s a clarifying note for anyone to tailor their followings accordingly.

Jikook and the Importance of Photos

Photographs are special. They map out our lives through precious memories. They leave a footprint in time that can forever be part of our history. These glimpses of our past, make us who we are and show what or who is important to us. They are full of so much love and emotions, even more so when they are shared with those most trusted to us. This goes for every photo shared by the members.

 I personally think it’s amazing that we can tell when a photo of Jimin is taken by Jungkook, there’s a certain style to it and it comes across even at a glance. One of my favourite photos of Jimin by Jungkook is this one:

This photo was taken from the behinds of Life Goes On. Each MV was beautifully directed by Jungkook, and it’s hard to miss the references made from within their old dorm. I know Jungkook isn’t keen on photos but, just like during GCFT, Jimin is looking at Jungkook and not the camera here with that smile. With that one look, that we are so familiar with, we can trace every single moment within their history which has that same shining expression. It tells a story over time, but also that one photo itself is so telling in the way that it was captured. One of my favourite photos of Jungkook by Jimin is this one:

There’s something raw and delicate in this photo.You can see it in Jungkook’s eyes. Each item in the photo tells its own little story, from the Birthday cake to the polaroid photos on the table that we never saw. This photo is all we saw from the night of Jungkook’s Birthday in 2019 and sometimes I am reminded that with these glimpses into their lives, there are still so many moments of theirs that we are unaware of. For example, Jungkook had a hickey on his neck during MOTS:Online and none of us had any idea until the DVD Behinds came out. 

For every selca or video that Jikook has shared with us, it shows a part of them that we are so lucky to witness. To be able to watch their growth over the years is magical and something I will always cherish. Why am I going on about photos and memories though?  Because they give so much of themselves to us and I will never take it for granted, nor expect them to give more to us than they want to. Some of their memories are for them only, but we can still hold dear what we know already…

Some of you know this already, but I have been caring for my Mother lately. Over the last few months, her memory has worsened. In an attempt to help, we play memory games and repeat simple tasks together. However, her memory is something that cannot be simply fixed with such methods. I had the idea to get out family photos, until I realised that we had stopped taking them when my parents divorced. It’s made me more proactive in archiving things that I do each day. Every little thing I see or hear, I note it down or save the song. In a way, it’s also how I associate with BTS or Jikook. When the BTS World soundtrack came out, I was having a really bad day and it gave me a lot of comfort. I smile whenever I hear Pied Piper because it’s one of my friends favourite songs. Any time I hear “Jungkookie” or “Jimin-ssi”, a barrage of memories come to the front of my mind and I grasp onto all of them whilst I still can. 

I'm sure it's not just me who does this either, Jimin and Jungkook probably do this themselves. You could see that when Jungkook was watching Jimin’s compilation with us. He was recollecting the same memories as us, but he also has access to an entirely different set of memories that we don’t know of. We also saw that with the way Jimin and Jungkook both explained the Rainy Day Fight. During the Festa video, Jungkook mentioned “rainy day” and expected Jimin to understand what he meant. Later on, Jimin and Jungkook gave their own versions of what happened in their separate lives. They both more or less experienced the same thing, but blamed themselves for their actions and not the other. 

They love adding to their own collections of memories. Every single time that Jimin watched Jungkook rehearse and the other way around, enough so that they could probably be a backup dancer. All the clips they have but haven’t shared. The moments we don’t find out until later, the inside jokes they have without context. We don’t understand, but that doesn’t matter. Only they have to and we just watch and smile. Their memories are a huge part of them, it’s what makes their bond so special.

Hello amazing blogger on the internet 👋 !!!! I just wanted to say that I am very much enjoying your blog!!! I started following you recently as I got back into Kpop is general, and BTS in particular.

I was a fan back in 2016, but unfortunately fell out of Kpop as a whole around early-to-mid 2017 due to irl things. All of this to say, I think it's soooooo interesting how things have changed so much since then, even though Jikook is pretty much exactly how I remeber them, lol. I remeber being a very insecure JKK-er at the time, constantly afraid of being called delulu and a crazy saesang, especially by TKK-ers.

I feel like this is very significant, because even though a lot of the same attitude is still there from TKK-ers in regards to JKK-ers, I feel like people in general are less afraid to say that they ship Jikook now then they were before. I practically couldn't find good Jikook content back then, and now it seems like it's everywhere I go. I was wondering, do you think you've seen some of the same shifts in attitude and openness towards Jikook as a ship? Of course thats probably dependent on how long have you been a BTS fan in general, and also a JKK-er? Shifts in attitude only come at certain points, and even if you didn't experience the shift first hand like I was talkinga bout in my first question, can you think of a time period when it might have changed? I'm having a hard time figuring that out since I left the fandom for like 4 and a half years. A lot of stuff has happened that I'm still catching up on. It's kinda overwhelming.

+ It's amazing to have blogs like this now. I just want you to know that your blog feels like a safe haven where I don't have to worry about being judged anymore. I have become a lot more secure in my ship now thanks to you, and I no longer feel the need to doubt Jikook - ever.

hi i need to say this to SOMEONE 😭 but the general fandom is soo weird about jikook. whenever i see tiktoks the vibes of the comments are so different when its jikook. its so normal to see stuff like "thats his baby" "soulmates" "they love each other so much" "i love them together" when its abt any other pairing but for jikook tiktoks its just comment after comment of people emphasizing the word friendship. like fandom cannot interact w jikook content unless they make sure EVERYONE KNOWS that theyre JUST FRIENDS and i do not see this with other pairings and i do not understand why

It’s crazy because I was just talking to a friend today about something similar!!

I was saying to her that I don’t even want the general public or all of the fandom to ship Jikook. I just want them to acknowledge them as close.

To be honest there are unhinged shippers in everytime subsection, Jikookers included. It’s understandable people that want no parts in shipping because it can go really left of the field, from the hyper feminisation of Jimin, the hyper masculinisation of Jungkook, the a/b/o tropes that people want to fit into everything they do, the hyper sexualisation of them, trying to make their every breath about the ship etc.

It’s understandable that lots of people want to just enjoy the members without all that extra.

What’s not understandable is the total erasure of Jikook even being BFFs, the super focus on certain duos that are not as volatile territory like ‘woah, thighs’, and how it’s fun to trend ‘rapper’s girlfriend’ but crickets from the fandom as a whole and only real noise from jikookers when ‘Jimin Hyung can handle it’ ‘I’m not that easy’ happed in front of our salad?!

That’s not US taking it there, that’s THEM 😩

My friend and I were saying that there are people that do see more when it comes to Jikook but because there aren’t enough big spaces that embrace the unique aspects of Jikook they try shipping spaces, but it’s not for the weak hearted. Some just see Jikook as interesting but not down to the #jikookisreal level and so when they dip their toes in they dip right back out.

Becca aka @wingzie did a post on how there are more jikookers than we may have thought:

I do get you anon, but I’m not so bothered if Jikook were to be acknowledged as ‘just friends’, heck I rarely see Jimin and Jungkook’s names in the same sentence unless it’s with the inclusion of other members or their musical records.

To be real, I care more that they’re not acknowledged as BEST FRIENDS, as closer than close. I see a lot of ‘that’s his baby brother’ ‘that’s just Jimin, he’s like that with all of them’, don’t even get me started on the pass around Jimin narrative that some use 😑.

I too see on a whole some actions that Jimin & Jungkook do that jikookers think is just for Jikook that truthfully isn’t, that can be seen with all seven. More jikookers do need to start dispelling those misguided Jikook lores in addition to dispelling anti Jikook narratives.

BUT I also see when there are things just Jikook that get skilfully ignored.

It’s super frustrating but at the same time it’s not. Because, really, do we want millions upon millions trending every little thing about Jikook if they are real and not explicitly out? I’d rather have the ones that can’t see anything because they have underlying prejudices to stay not seeing anything, because do Jikook need those kind of eyes on them?

Maybe a smaller bubble of jikookers being convinced and spotting their moments, in comparison to the fandom as a whole acknowledging something different with Jikook vs other ships, allows for jikookers to to keep jikooking ‘safely’.

The majority of people that DO see Jikook, see them for the unique softness, fondness, adoration, sweet words and actions, fun and spicy bond they have and want to celebrate it and protect it.

Appreciating Jikook doesn’t need to have millions of people. To be honest with or without us watching, Jikook will keep Jikooking. So let those that see them, enjoy and let those that don’t see them, miss out on a beautiful thing.
