whumpee was extremely underweight at the time they were rescued.

weeks pass as they are being nursed back to health by caretaker. they start to gain a lot of weight back, slowly and eventually gaining back all the weight they lost.

caretaker smiles when they see the number on the scale go up, giving whumpee a high-five or a celebratory hug.

because weight gain is NOT A BAD THING.

maybe whumpee gets a bit pudgy. maybe whumpee notices that they have flab where they didn’t before. and they SMILE. they’re getting themselves back. they’re getting their body back because they aren’t being starved anymore.

just an overall positive attitude about weight gain in hurt/comfort whump please. because it is so special to me.

Okay so picture this... a line up of heroes, all bound and forced to their knees in front of whumper.

Whumper paces in front of them calmly. They have their hands clasped behind their back as they begin to threaten or make demands of Leader. Then they slowly stop in front of our whumpee. Maybe they look the youngest, most inexperienced, or the most scared but something about them catches whumper's eye.

Leader's eyes go wide as they try to redirect whumper's attention back to them, but it's too late. Whumper places a hand under Youngest's jaw and lifts their gaze to force eye contact. They see the barely hidden fear behind a shaky mask of indifference and they *smile.*

concept: rich whumper who puts out an ad for a regular whumpee. it's all perfectly consensual, all the terms laid out in a detailed contract, and the job pays a lot. whumper gets a surprising amount of applicants, but only one gets the job.

whumpee thinks they know what they're getting into. it's a good gig; it pays well, and it comes with the best healthcare - whumper wants to keep their little toy healthy, after all. whumpee thinks that knowing exactly how whumper will hurt them, exactly how long it will take, and that they'll be treated afterwards will lessen the pain.

Imagine whumpee's blood collecting in vials that masked figures gather and remove without saying a single word.

And imagine whumpee's realization that, unless someone rescues them and soon, the extreme blood loss will surely kill them.

I recently injured my right hand, which is my dominant hand, which made the fact that the hand was basically unusable for a few days particularly annoying. The injury was a small but deep puncture wound in the flesh of my palm between my thumb and pointer finger. It meant I couldn't move my thumb at all, and my overall grip strength was completely shot.

Naturally, I have whumpy thoughts about this.

POTENTIAL CAUSES:

Whumpee was chained up for so long that when he is freed, he can no longer feel that hand for hours

Nerve damage from any number of things

Whumpee's palm was nailed to a wooden board as her punishment

Whumpee degloved his hand in an escape attempt

Now here's the thing. Going from having an able hand to having a pained and unusable hand all of a sudden is not easy. (My grandfather, who taught himself to be ambidextrous a few years ago because he was retired and bored, would disagree. But he's a special case.) Not only are you down a hand, but you have to be really careful with the injured hand so you don't do further damage. Meanwhile, your nondominant hand is a LOT weaker than your dominant one, so it's struggling.

You'd also be surprised at the number of things that are suddenly extremely difficult to do. So, whumpy things....

Caretaker helping Whumpee shower, change clothes, fasten buttons, open and close medicine bottles, affix bandages, etc

This makes Whumpee feel any combination of embarrassed, safe, scared of the dependence, continuously surprised at the gentle treatment, resentful, etc

Whumpee tripping and automatically splaying her hands out to catch herself, then nearly choking trying to bite back a scream of pain so that she doesn't alarm caretaker

Whumper giving Whumpee extra punishments when Whumpee isn't able to do his usual tasks as well

Whumper tossing a pet Whumpee out to the streets because he's no longer as useful

Whumpee trying to do something with their non dominant hand and accidentally injuring themselves in the process

...I feel like I should do a "a body part a day" thing where I talk about various whumpy injuries

Whumpee desperately trying to get up and find caretaker (they've gotten separated, taken...), but is unable to do so due to exhaustion and pain.

oh i love this. there’s so much about this that’s very fun for me - why were they separated? on the run and got split up? safe and sound and caretaker just stepped away for a minute? whumpee just abducted? caretaker abducted maybe?

and just. the inability to actually get up and look and why. imagine caretaker has just stepped away to do something - give a statement or interview about what happened, talk to a doctor, make tea in the kitchen if recovering at home, and whumpee wakes up or looks around for them and realizes they’re not there. cue the panic - the fear, that something has happened to them and it was whumpee’s fault for being asleep or drifting in pain or tiredness or a medicated haze. fear for themself too, that they’re in danger and vulnerable now that they’re alone.

so they try to get up. it hurts so badly they nearly black out and they’re shaking, trembling and unsteady. they collapse back onto the bed the first try, but they have to try again. they have to get to caretaker. so they try again, shaking harder, and only make it to sitting up before the exhaustion and the agony of severe, fresh injuries sends them crashing to the floor, crying out when they land. they pant into the ground, hands clenching and flexing as the pain comes in waves, tears making their face and the floor beneath it wet.

hands land on them and they flinch so hard they press even harder into the ground. the ringing in their ears and the panic surging through them calms just long enough for them to register that the voice they hear is caretaker, returned from what they were doing (maybe hearing the struggle, maybe summoned by someone else), horrified and worried to find whumpee in this state.

whumpee and caretaker get into a really bad argument that was mostly whumpee’s fault. maybe they said something mean on purpose or even on accident and caretaker got really offended by it. the two stop talking for a while, and after a few weeks caretaker receives a dvd in the mail. upon opening it and playing it, they see it’s a video of whumpee in whumper’s basement, their arms chained to the wall and their torso covered in blood and scars. the whumper grabs the camera and positions it in front of whumpee’s face, where they grab their chin and say: “they deserve it though, right? after what they did?” and caretaker’s whole body goes numb.

Nothing like a more experienced whumpee quieting a newer whumpee almost violently when Younger breaks and begins to cry with need for something completely natural to them (food, water, sleep). Older slapping a hand over Younger’s mouth hissing angrily- or, really, desperately- that they know it hurts, but they can’t.

Older shooting an apologetic glance, barely hiding their panic, at the rescuers. Unable to hold in stutters as they assure the rescuers that they’ll be good, Younger was just a little scared, he swears they’ll be good. Managing to keep their voice somewhat calm despite the stutters, muted panic in their tone as they try to defuse the situation. Subtly positioning themself between the rescuers and Younger, hoping and praying they’ll be spared and given another chance. 

Just something about Older being protective over Younger despite being just as or even more scared than Younger of anyone near them. Being forced to be rough with Younger to shut them up so they might survive.
