Starting a Decades Challenge

I’ll be following the rules as per this site’s instructions, but I’ll be adding some other things to the gameplay that I think will make it more fun. Such as rolling a d20 when a sim ages up (or gives birth) to see if they’ll survive that life stage (which I’ll do until probably the 1960s) and sending male sims off to war for longer and give them more chances to be killed. But for the most part I’ll be following along with the rules as said. Also, a good chunk of the houses and lots I’ll be using will be from the gallery because I can barely build half-decently. 

Right now, we start in the year 1890 in a little house in Henford-On-Bagley.

Tommy Beckham is our legacy founder. He’s a quiet young man, but has a great head on his shoulders. He dreams of being a famous poet, and spends most of his days typing away on the typewriter or carving wooden statues to sell.

His wife, Caroline, couldn’t be more unlike him. She’s a very social young woman and often has her head in the clouds dreaming about painting. She tends to the home and garden, and spends her free time painting or going to market with her friends.

Tommy and Caroline are saving up their money right now to afford a larger house for the big family they dream of. Surprise surprise, aspiring poets don’t get paid much! They’ve got a long way to go until then.

Harbour Apartments - a Brindleton Bay rental lot (CC free)

Before I visit my parents for Christmas, where I have no access to my computer I thought I'd share a little present! It's nothing special, but I hope you'll like it.

So what do you get? Essentially two separate houses, that are connected by a shared basement with utilities and washers/dryers. There's also a thrift store/bubble tea shop in the left townhouse on the ground floor (for vibes only, or also usable if you so wish). The apartment above the store is fully furnished in a bit of a boho, sort of an "It's my first apartment and nothing really goes well together but somehow it looks right". vibe. I think it perfectly fits a sim who's into art and maybe even in college.

packs: I almost used all packs, so it definitely looks better the more packs you have.

Dawn: I wasn’t sure if you were going to come this week. Atlas: Why wouldn’t we? Dawn: I don’t know. You’ve been hard to get a hold of lately.

Atlas: Sorry about that, just a lot going on, but we’re here now. Dawn: I’m glad you are because—Aw Ash, what happened? Asher: Oh, nothing. Just me being clumsy. How are you guys? Dawn: We’re good! Um, we actually have some news. Atlas: What’s going on?

Dawn: We’re gonna have a baby! Atlas: What?! Really? You’re pregnant? Dawn: It’s still pretty early, so we’re not telling anyone else yet, but yes, I’m pregnant! Atlas: And everything’s okay? Dawn: So far so good. We even heard the heartbeat, Atlas, it was the most perfect thing.

Atlas: That’s incredible, I’m so happy for you! Asher: Congratulations!

Atlas: So, how have you been feeling? Dawn: Not bad so far. Atlas: That’s good! Is there anything you need? Anything we can do? Dawn: I don’t know. Honestly, I’m feeling a bit lost. Sometimes I can’t help but wish… I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m trying to say.

Phoenix: So, the eye, what really happened? Asher: [smirks] Hm. It’s a long story. Phoenix: I’ve got time.

Atlas: What is it? Dawn: I keep finding myself wishing I had mom around. God, I hate saying that out loud. Atlas: What good would she do? Dawn: I don’t know. None probably. Just wish I had a mom, I guess, not her specifically. The thing is, I don’t really have any close friendships with women, let alone anyone that’s had a baby. I just wish I had someone that could tell me what to do or what to expect, or that I could talk to about pregnancy and baby stuff. You guys are all great, but...

Atlas: No, I get it. Dawn:  You don’t think it’s stupid? Atlas: Of course not. In fact, you should come to Brindleton Bay with us sometime. You could meet Asher’s mom and sister. They’re both super sweet, and I’m sure they’d love to meet you. And you could meet Spencer. Dawn: Really? I don’t want to intrude. Atlas: You wouldn’t be!

Phoenix: Jesus. Asher. Right? Phoenix: For what it’s worth, I’d be doing the same thing. Asher: You would? Atlas thinks I should stay out of it. Phoenix: That’s just because his priority is you. He’s always gonna fight to keep you safe.

Asher: I guess. But I don’t want us to be fighting about it all the time. Iris is already pissed at me, the last thing I want is for Atlas to get fed up with me too. Phoenix: Then maybe listen to him. Like I said, in your shoes, I’d be doing the same thing. But I also would never let anything come between me and Dawn. Asher: [sighs] Phoenix: You and your sister are close? Asher: Yeah.

Phoenix: Then smooth things over with her. All you can really do is let her know you’re there for her. If something happens then step in, but you can’t let this guy drive a wedge between you and the people who are important to you. I’m sure with your sister, your parents, and the social worker looking out for her, you can trust that Spencer will be kept safe.

Asher: Probably. Things were just so much better when he was in jail, I wish he’d go back. Phoenix: Yeah, well, that’s not really in your control. Asher: Apparently not. Atlas: Hey Ash! C’mere for a sec. Asher: ‘kay! Thanks Phoenix. Phoenix: Anytime.

Asher: What’s up? Atlas: I was just telling Dawn that she should come to the Bay with us. Thought it would be nice for her to meet your mom and Iris, talk about baby stuff.   Asher: Sure, they’d love that! Oh, and if you’re still looking for a place, I can show you the idea I had for your wedding. Unless you’re set on getting married in the city. Dawn: No, we’re open to ideas. Asher: Cool, we’ll let you know next time we go.

Melsie’s Sims 4 World Map

Many months ago (well before Growing Together came out) I teased a world map I was working on... but never actually ended up posting the finished product. I’ve FINALLY polished it, and even added where I thought San Sequoia might be located. 

I thought I’d share it with you guys and explain a bit how my map will end up influencing my gameplay.

Here we have a full map view with all of the different continents. Every grid square is 20 miles (32km).

Under the cut there will be a grid-less option too, as well as a written list of all the worlds in each continent. Feel free to use either map for your own gameplay or if you want to incorporate it in your challenge rules! Just make sure to give me credit and maybe link my Simblr! Thanks in advance and happy simming!

I use Kuttoe’s Home Regions mod and have configured the settings so that NPC sims can only show up in worlds that are located within their specific continent. Clearly some worlds will be a lot more populated than others, but I think it’ll still be a very interesting way to play!  

For my current legacy challenge (Vega Legacy) my active sims will have no specific rule as to where they can travel, but I will try to keep the traveling to a minimum: once a day if they stay on the same continent, and once a week for worlds that are on different continents. 

I previously intended for sims to pay 100 simoleons per grid square traveled (200 simoleons if it’s an ocean square) and will probably still do that eventually... once my legacy founder has funds to spare. 

I’m also providing a grid-less option for those of you that prefer a sleeker look and don’t care about the specific distance between places.

A bit about me:

Favorite sims world -> Brindleton Bay! Might be a basic choice, but as an islander who later relocated inland, I love the seaside setting, and it can be quite spooky and atmospheric in the right lighting :)

Hobbies -> What are those? Seriously, I'm a college student. When not simming/crying over my textbooks, I enjoy reading and writing, hiking, baking, playing guitar/singing (badly), and putzing about the garden.

Why did I start playing Sims 4? -> My partner is also a simmer, and they got me into it after I saw that I could use it as a tool to visualize my characters. When I realized the possibilities of storytelling through gameplay, The Sims became a staple in my creative expression, and I look forward to continuing to develop my storytelling skills, as well as learning more about in-game photography/poses/maybe even cc creation.

When we got to Chi Chi's, Karmine hadn't gotten home yet, and I was relieved. She was a sweet kid and all, but man could she talk. I probably wouldn't have made it out once she cornered me. Ha, and now that she was a teenager, she probably had even more to say and gave Chi Chi a run for her money. Bless that child. I left from there and went immediately to Gilbert Gardens, feeling only 8% guilty that I didn't stop at Dad's. He would ask great questions and try to help me talk through it, but this was something I needed to do on my own. Sophia and I had many discussions about the future, and I sensed the urgency to seriously consider our next steps, especially since she had been prepared for quite some time. I was too, in theory, but that was the problem. My next move needed to come from the heart, not from panic or pressure. I wanted to make my request confidently, with a clear conscience and a pure heart.

A man I'd never seen before interrupted my thoughts. He looked pretty young, maybe fresh out of high school. His super light eyes struck me, and I halfway believed they were real. Gray wasn't an unusual color, but they seemed to glow against his dark skin.

"Excuse me," he said. "Sorry to bother you. I'm Wade."

"Luca. Nice to meet you."

"Yeah, same here. Look, this is my first time here, and I have a few hours to kill. Would you mind suggesting a few things to do around here?"

Ah ha! He was a tourist. Of course, I didn't know everyone in San Sequoia, but I usually saw the same sims everywhere.

"It's your first time in San Sequoia?"

"Yeah."

"Cool. Well, welcome. I love it here. Hoping to move back soon. But sure, I can help you out."

"Thanks! I appreciate that."

So much for my thoughtful walk. Did I really need it, though? I loved Sophia. Everyone loved Sophia, and I already considered her my family. When I thought about the future, she was all I saw. She and the rest of our family. What was there to think about? It's not like I needed to decide if I wanted to be with her forever. I just needed to do it. There was no such thing as the right time, and knowing Sophia, I didn't need to craft an elaborate plan. Just ask, and let the chips fall.

With that out of the way, my mind, and calendar, were free to help this guy. He was fortunate to approach me because he wouldn't find a bigger fan of San Sequoia.

"Actually, I have some time," I said. "I could show you a few of my favorite spots, if you want."

Those super bright eyes of his seemed to glow even brighter.

"Would you? That would be incredible!"

"Of course. How long are you here for?"

"Just for the day. Gotta catch the evening train."

"Where to?"

"Brindleton Bay."

"Oh, nice. I've never been, but my mom used to live there."

Wade shrugged dismissively.

"It's an okay place. I'm originally from Henford, and moving to BB had it's challenges. I posted a video about it on my SimTube channel."

"You're on SimTube? That's kinda crazy because I just started a channel. What are your videos about?"

"Some of them are personal vlogs, but I also do a series listing the top things to see in different towns. Maybe I'll do one about San Sequoia. What about you? What are your videos about?"

Wow, this guy seemed heavy into SimTube. He probably had thousands of followers and made all kinds of money. Maybe we could stay in touch, and he could teach me a thing or two about growing my channel.

"Uhh, heh, well, I've only done one so far, but I'm a yoga instructor. I do simple routines that anyone can follow and learn. So, I take it you travel a lot?"

"Not as much as I plan to. I've only covered Henford and Batuu so far. I'm currently working on one for Brindleton Bay, but like I said, the place is going to take some getting used to. The entire town smells like fish!"

"Eww. Really?"

Mama didn't talk about her single life much, but I think I'd remember her saying her city smelled like fish. I'd have to ask her about that.

"I think most places have their own set of challenges, though," I continued. "Like, I recently moved to Oasis springs. I love how it's warm all the time, but man is it dusty!"

He threw his head back and let out a hearty laugh.

"Dust might be just as bad as fish!"

"It might be! Which is worse: a constant bad smell or feeling like you're dirty all the time?"

Wade was so animated and fun to watch. My question made his face wrinkle up as if the whole world suddenly reeked of fish.

"Okay, you win! Filth is the absolute worst!"

His outfit was so sleek and fancy, it was clear he liked things neat. He also looked pretty fit, so I knew what our first activity had to be.

"You workout, Wade?"

"Most definitely! Gotta look good for the ladies, right?"

"Absolutely!"

We vibe'd well, and I liked him. I bet he'd be really fun to party with.

"Nah, but seriously," he said, "my dad's obsession with fitness has rubbed off on me. Oh, and you can call me Dub. Most sims do."

I grinned at the thought of us becoming friends.

"Okay, Dub. You ready for a scenic run?"

"I stay ready!"

My father pulled some strings and called in a few favours. We managed to find the perfect place in Brindleton Bay, all the way across the country.

We bought the most adorable house in a quiet neighbourhood. It was far away from my parents, but also far away from the scandal. Katherine and I needed a fresh start.

The most important thing, however, was that the house was right next to a vet clinic, and the owner was interested in selling it. My most important dream could still come true.

Katherine, being pregnant and newly fired, was not finding any jobs, and I was struggling to get the vet clinic up and running after years of neglect by the previous owner, but I finally felt a little optimistic about the whole thing. Maybe we could do this.

Soon after we moved in, some of the neighbours came to welcome us to the neighbourhood. I was very surprised to recognise them – Colten and Kailani, two of my brother’s closest friends in high school. My brother had even mentioned his secret crush on Kailani before he left.

Kailani was touched when she heard about our situation, especially the fact that Katherine was pregnant.

She told Katherine to ask if she needed anything – Colten and Kailani had just discovered that they were having their second child. I was glad that Katherine seemed to be making new friends already. I didn’t want to be her only support.

They were my friends too, of course – but I was mostly smitten with their beautiful dog.

I was still adjusting to being a proper adult – being a house owner was expensive and we wouldn’t have made it without the seemingly endless support from my parents.

The next few months passed, and we slowly settled in as Katherine’s belly grew.

I tried to be excited, but I was mostly filled with dread. Katherine was thrilled, decorating the nursery and constantly bugging me about baby names. She’d given up on ever having kids since Antony didn’t want any, but it had always been a secret dream of hers.

Kailani was also getting bigger. I’d often meet her when she walked Sansa as I was going to the vet clinic, and she was only a month or so behind Katherine.

I was much more relaxed around her – at least that baby wasn’t my responsibility.

It was harder to relax around Katherine. She was hormonal and frustrated with her new, heavier body, worried about her future job situation, and it didn’t help that Antony was dragging out their divorce.

Arguments seemed to erupt out of nowhere. I would be lost in my own thoughts for a bit, not paying attention to something she said, and she’d snap.

I tried to explain that I was thinking about important things, like how to make the vet clinic profitable so at least one of us could bring in some money. I didn’t really mean to be hurtful, but the money situation stressed me out. I hated relying on my parents for everything.

She obviously didn’t respond well to the low blow about her lack of career, and called me out for being immature.

She made me feel like a child. It was hard not to retaliate and say something that made her feel old, like how she clearly had all the maturity in this relationship – and then I was the bad guy.

I hated arguing with her. She clearly had more experience in that as well.

After an argument, I’d usually go for a run to clear my head and give us both some space. Sometimes I wondered what would happen if I just kept running. I was sick of worrying – about the bills, the clinic, the baby, and our strained relationship.

At least Katherine’s divorce was finally happening.

Maia leads me into the museum while giving me an overview of the history of Deadgrass Isle. Once we arrive at the first exhibit, she continues.

Maia: This is a miniature model of the Isle. You can see the museum, which was once the lightkeeper's residence. *Maia points* Right there is the lighthouse and the famous pet cemetery at the Isle's edge. 

Wade: Why would a pet cemetery be famous?

Maia: A ship crashed during a storm and sunk near the shores of Deadgrass Isle. The only survivors were a lifeboat full of cats and dogs; the descendants of the crash are the stray cats and dogs you see wandering around today. When a pet dies in Brindleton Bay, it's tradition to bury it near its ancestors in the cemetery. One of the cemetery's most known residents is a dog named Captain Whitaker that once belonged to a man also named Captain Whitaker. Residents say that the ghosts of both Captain Whitakers haunt the graveyard at night.

Wade: Is the man buried there too?

Maia: No, just the dog, but he still wanders the graveyard, searching for his long-lost pet. Others say that if you visit the cemetery at night and find the ghost of Captain Whitaker's dog, you can befriend him, bring him back to life, and adopt him.

Maia seems to get a lot of joy from reciting this history. She sounds like she has lived here in Brindleton Bay for years. Although enjoyable to listen to, her story is obviously fiction.

Wade: What? I call bullsh*t.

Maia: Yeah, well - some long-time residents believe that myth.

Based on Maia's conviction, I'm wondering if she believes it. She pauses and leads me to another exhibit within the museum.

Maia: Remember, I said the museum was once the lighthouse keeper's home? Over several centuries, the lightkeepers of Dreadgrass Isle were responsible for maintaining the lighthouse as a beacon for ships making their way into Brindleton Bay.

Wade: If there was a shipwreck, they must not have been very good at their job.

Maia: Maybe, but this small corner is all that remains of the original residence.

Wade: What happened to the rest?

Maia: They tore it down to build this museum.

Coraleye gets up to put the storybook away, then curls up into Tycho's lap. Coraleye: What are you thinking about? [Smiles]

Tycho: Well, I was just thinking... I had a feeling Pierce liked you.

Coraleye: [Laughs and playfully taps Tycho on the shoulder] Tycho! Were you listening to us?

Tycho: Only partially. I was on plant-child duty, and that took priority. I thought he and Janie were together?

Coraleye is half distracted as she stands up to find her phone. Tycho hangs on to her, not ready to let go yet.

The game decides that Tycho "likes physical intimacy"

Coraleye: [Disappointed frown] I know. It really seemed like they were such a good match. Tycho: And the wedding... They introduced each other to their families! Coraleye: RIGHT? They were clearly so into each other, the chemistry was palpable! Tycho: You know they got a room together...

The game decides that Tycho "likes gossip" Coraleye: They had to have. But no, apparently they spent all last summer together, she came up and stayed with him and his family in Brindleton Bay. He was even going to... [Coraleye's eyes widen and she grimaces painfully] consider maybe even proposing, but... Janie eventually ended things after she went home because the long distance wasn't working for her, and she wanted to stay in Moonlight Falls. Pierce wasn't willing to leave, and says he thinks a Brindleton Bay girl would be better for him anyway. [Sigh] ...and that's when he said it...

Pierce: So, this is going to sound crazy... I know we're friends and all but...well...okay here it goes, I HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU. Phew. Okay. It's out there. Um... so... would you want to go out with me sometime? You're super cool. I really want to hang out with you more...? Tycho: Well, did you tell him you're my Brindleton Bay girl?

Coraleye: I told him I'm taken, and that we're together, yes. And that I'm actually still married to Mira anyway, ha.

Tycho: Right, that. Did he take it well?

Coraleye: Yeah. Pierce has never been pushy. I told him that I'm also really flattered and stuff, but I think we should just be friends. We agreed to pretend it never happened.

Tycho: [Relieved smile] Well, best of luck to him in his attempt to pretend that never happened. But, I'm glad he took it well. This happens to you a lot, doesn't it?

Coraleye: What? Nah. Just... enough to know the protocol. [Shrugs and smiles] Oh lookie here! [Points at text message on phone] Looks like Alice and Sage are home.

Coraleye: Actually, quite the opposite! [Glances at Tycho] After tonight I'm even more certain babies will be in my future. Right, Tyke?

Tycho: ??? Yes, yeah! Yes.

Alice: [Shocked/excited gasp] Oh my mod, babe! Wouldn't they make such adorable babies? How far in the future are we talking? Sage: Okay calm down. We can't just ask others about their plans to have children... But yes theywouldbesofreakingcute, ahhh!

[Hysterical laughter]

This Pierce arc wasn't supposed to happen, but when the game made him send Coraleye a text confessing that he had a crush, we had to take a bit of a tangent. For character building, of course! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming (coming tomorrow 😘)

Now that Este knows how to crawl, Caleb has been trying to get her to stand on her own. Mama don't like it. I almost got upset with him and asked if he's trying to rush her into growing up but I bit my tongue. I know he's just trying to make sure she grows up well, knowing everything she needs to know to thrive.

I'm happy she's doing so well but at the same time, it's a bittersweet happiness. My little starfish is growing. I want to keep her little but I know I can't.

I have to cheer up, today I'm meeting Aubree in Brindleton Bay at her house - we're having a day at the spa in Newcrest. Caleb is watching Este and to my utter shock, he invited Jackson over. Those two have never really spent much time together but Caleb says he might as well try to get to know Lilith's boyfriend. Especially considering things could be worse - her boyfriend could be Vladislaus Straud.

My Este isn't the only one who is growing. Edgar Allan and Emily have grown quite a bit too since the last time I saw them. I helped Aubree put them down for their naps and got in some cuddles while I was at it.

I met their Nanny as well, Paris Hale. She's pretty. Very pretty. There's something oddly familiar about her and I can't put my finger on it.

"Have a good time at your spa day, ladies." August tolds us with a smile on his face as we headed for the front door. 

I felt like I should talk to Aubree about it but I didn't want to ruin our day. I decided to table the topic until later.

After we got all pampered, we decided to stop at a shop and buy ourselves nice dresses to wear to a fancy restaurant in Newcrest.

The food was good, they even had someone playing the piano beside us. I think Caleb would enjoy that place. It was nice to get to spend time with Aubree. Not only do we live in different towns but we're also married with kids, while also having careers on top of it. We don't always get to see each other but we make it a point to keep in touch. Something that matters to you - you have to make an effort to keep it going.

By the time we got back to Brindleton Bay, it was dark and cold. We went on a small walk around her neighborhood. It filled me with memories of my own time living in town.

"Aubree...there's something oddly familiar about Paris. I don't know what it is but...it's almost like she reminds me of someone." I told her, stopping our walk not far from her home. 

"Any idea who?" Aubree asked me. I shook my head. "I know she's pretty."

"And younger and blonde." I interjected. Aubree for her part gave me a brief nod in recognition but kept going.

"She does so well with the twins.  They love her. Not only that, she cleans the house, makes dinner. We gave her a small raise because she's become more of a maid slash nanny." I know that she and August don't have a lot of money laying around but they are both firm believers in paying a person fairly for the work they do. 

I slowly nodded. Maybe I was just being suspicious because of what happened to Rahmi. Obviously it was a bit of a different scenario.

"Plus, I trust my husband. We've known him since high school. Do you think he would do cheat on me?" Aubree asked me.

For some reason, my mind briefly wondered to Apollo and Naya. How my brother is feeling lonely and like Naya has been putting her career before him and AJ. Though she has been trying to spend more time with them lately. "Not normally, no. He loves you. But sometimes when someone is feeling lonely and...look, just be careful, okay?"

"I don't think there's anything to worry about but I will still keep an eye on her." Aubree told me, she seemed a little annoyed with me but at least she's taking my advice.

We've definitely been enjoying our summer here in Brindleton Bay! We try and spend most of our day outside, now that the girls are toddlers we have a lot more freedom as to what we can do. Aria and Ansel have been going with their dad to fish in a nearby lake almost every day since summer started, and whilst they don't come back with a fish everyday, they come back with stories about their fishing adventures that I'm sure they'll look back on with fondness. Whilst we aren't actively doing schoolwork in the summer, we're still learning when we're outside. The kids research the kinds of fish that are local to our area, so they know how to identify anything they might catch. Ever since we got our chickens, we've been learning all the things about them like the differences between the eggs that are laid for us to eat versus the fertilised eggs that hatch into chicks. We've also been learning about the fruits and vegetables that we've been growing, as well as the local plants and animals in the area. We've been debating whether to move to a property that has more land to have more animals, but that's a big undertaking so we're definitely praying on it.

These four are proving to be thick as thieves, there's a year between them and they're determined to put me through my paces. I don't mind it though, I'm taking my time and cherishing all these memories while they're still young. Before I know it they'll be in school, then maybe even college, then getting married and moving out. I'm so thankful for the Lord choosing me to be the mama of these rambunctious kids.

(AN: The kid should really be a toddler cause he's 2 weeks younger then valentina's youngest 2, but lets pretend these are old pictures. Also, I hate that the infant blanket has to appear when they're being posed)

My sister Sabrina and her husband Tucker live further out in the country from us, but we still see them at church and manage to plan to see each other when our schedules align. Though Tucker's family still does their touring music ministry for parts of the year, Tucker and Sabrina have chosen to focus on maintaining the farm and being at home. They've even bought their own home close to the farm, as they wanted their own place for their growing family. Sabrina announced that they're expecting another baby by early next year!

My little brother Zachary is courting! He met Kelsey Parnell (19) last year when he was in Brindleton Bay to visit us, Kelsey lives in a town an hour away from Brindleton Bay but has the same social circles as our aunt Danielle. I guess my aunt is determined to have her nieces and nephews have ties to Brindleton Bay so that there will always be a way to see her, because this is now the 3rd couple she's used her match making skills on (the first being Me and Eric, the second being Sabrina and Tucker). Kelsey spends her time helping her mother at home, or working with the same ministry my aunt sometimes works with. They first met at a christmas bake sale to support an pro-life ministry, and would see each other everytime Zach would visit Brindleton Bay either for work or to see us. My parents were able to meet her parents as well and our families got along great, they agreed that it was okay for the two to get to know each other better in order for a courtship to happen, and recently Zach got the greenlight to ask her to start a courtship. Kelsey is a great girl, we've known her and her family for a few years and I think they'll make a great couple.

Celeste is also courting! She's in a courtship with a delightful young man named Reid Robbins (25) from Northbury, a town a few hours outside Britechester. They met through mutual friends when she was at a young women's retreat that was a ministry run by his church. She met one of his sisters and they became fast friends, and she later introduced the girls to her family and the rest of the church congregation. These two met and there was a group chat formed where they all got to know each other and challenged each other daily to keep up in their walk with the Lord. Between a few visits to Newcrest, a few visits to Northbury, and some group trips added into the mix, Reid had started to pray to the Lord about Celeste (what he didn't know is that she'd also started praying about him!). After discussing the fact with his parents, they contacted our parents and after both sides approved, he made his way to my parents house in Newcrest and officially asked her! Though she was excited, Celeste was slightly apprehensive at the beginning because she is slightly older than him (her being 27 and him being 25), but my sisters and I reassured her that if she felt the Lord leading her in that direction - then to follow where she's being led. Now she's happier than ever before, she's already started dreaming about what their wedding will look like!

Tag Game for Historical Simblrs!

I initially made this tag game over a year ago at a point when I felt like there were a lot of new people on history simblr I didn't know. I was chatting with some friends and thought now might be a good time to revive it!

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

Right now I'm very excited for the 1920s, I have a lot of plans and some unique story lines I feel coming up. It's also feeling like I'll actually get there soon!

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

Last time I did this I chose a BB piece so this time I'm going CAS, happylifesims recently made a victorian workers outfit with these adorable rolled sleeves and it just looks so good on guys. It's the current darling of my heart.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

Right now it's Willy, I'm really excited to get back into the Sewell's and really start exploring his story in earnest.

4. What is your favorite world?

Still Brindleton Bay, always has been, always will be.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

I like to think I mix these two mediums pretty well, I plan big story arcs but tend to let gameplay influence day to day, and if something interesting gameplay wise happens I try to include it!

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

I do! I think they add a really fun dimension to the family and are great for social needs.

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

All the townies with the strangest colored hair and body types. And names. I just wish it wasn't all so discordant.

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

I really like the items that came with the country kitchen kit, the bucket of fruit and vegetables just makes me so happy.

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

I'm at the point where I just want a historical pack. I know it's not gonna happen, but gosh a girl can dream.

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

I think that Cottage Living is amazing all around, but I'd put Cats and Dogs second, perhaps tying with Get Together. They both have amazing BB and CAS and i prefer the worlds to Henford.

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

Mizoreyukii has a functional broom that works like a vacuum and it just makes my little historical simmer heart happy to see my sims sweeping away.

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

I like having enough to keep it interesting, but not so many that it's overwhelming. I think maybe five or six but obviously the ages influence things too.

13. Do you use poses?

I do! I like to use in game animations whenever I can because they feel a bit more lively to me, but sometimes you need to track down a pose or wrestle with blender to make one when you need something specific.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

Yes, I love overrides. I use moonsims historic book override, a mop override, a dish override, a fireplace light override, a dog leash override. Big on overrides here.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

I usually don't, I find it a bit too limiting for what would have actually been historically possible at the time.

16. What lifespan do you play on?

A slightly tweaked version of normal, but some people have been sort of convincing me to potentially try a longer one.... We'll see...

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

A reddit post about the decades challenge, which was just a completely new way to think about playing to me. I'd never really done any kind of challenge before at all and I think the combo of passage of time, goals, and so much fun new cc just absolutely hooked me!!

Your 3 Traits: Only three??! I'm much more complicated than that! I will at least mention the seven I have on my main blog: nerd brain / creative / bookworm / dog lover / cheerful / green fiend / good

Your Aspiration: Again, why pick only one? For sure I like to write stories, so Bestselling Author would probably be fitting. But Big Happy Family is probably closer to the truth!

In Game World You'd Live In: Tartosa maybe? Or Brindleton Bay? Actually Henford-on-Bagley is lovely as well... Okay, I would live anywhere, as long as I can keep my family and friends.

Favorite Townie: I enjoy making my own townies and delete all the premade sims as soon as I can. So I have no idea about those townies! Even the indelible ones gets a full make over if they should dare to show their face in my historical hoods. In that sense Vlad and the Crumplebottom cousins are most often played. Well, Agatha is the most charming one, so let's have her as a "favorite".

Most Used Pack: Since I've done a lot of Stone Age and Early Civilization building, probably Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure. My favorite is Seasons however. I'm a sucker for realism, and just love those snow storms. Well not really, but I do love the changing seasons.

Favorite Decor Object: Fruit bowls! Can't get enough of them! And my papyrus scroll bookshelf - I put them everywhere!

You Want In the Game: Anything that improves historical realism. Also I miss so much the lovely realistic looking builds in slopes from TS3 and free placement of lots from TS2. And please please please give us the possibility to have different heights of walls next to each other. With roof!!!

What Color Is Your Plumbob: I have a chronic disease making my energy level constantly very low, so if I'm truthful I would say red'ish. But my mood is great, so I go for bright green!

I think all my friends are going crazy preparing stuff for Simblreen at the moment, so I don't want to add to their stress, but consider yourself tagged if you want to do it! I would love to get to know you even better!

TS4 Lepacy Challenge (or how TS4 finally got me) pt.2

Gen 9: Vampires + Vintage Glamour stuff

This generation was really, really boring! I'm not into the supernatural theme, so... Forgotten Hollow is tiny, but it's kinda cool for certain sims (great for photos and storytelling). The sim was a real sweetheart, and just because of that, I didn't skip this generation. He was an apprentice to Count Vladislaus Straud, met a girl in Windenburg, found the cure for vampirism, and had a daughter with her. He had a butler and lived in a luxurious house.

Gen 10: Parenthood + Movie Hangout, Kids Room & Toddler stuffs

Babies, babies, and more babies. This girl had a HUGE family! And I tried to follow everything that was asked for in this generation. She married young and had only one love her entire life. She had as many children as she desired, adopted a child, and kept a super well-tended and beautiful garden. This expansion pack is really cute and adds a lot of depth to the relationship between parents and children. It was fun taking care of so many kids, but exhausting! She lived in Newcrest since there wasn't a city requirement.

Gen 11: Cats & Dogs + Laundry Day & My First Pet stuff

In this generation, I ended up getting more attached to the couple's youngest daughter. She was "different," you know how it is. She was all about animals, ran her own vet clinic and worked hard every day. She had a house full of cute kitties and adopted a little girl. Brindleton Bay is simply amazing! I spent a lot of time exploring the town. The pets expansion is also adorable, and I think it's my favorite of all the game's generations (I hardly ever played with pets in TS2 and TS3 because I found it too much work).

(Looks like someone finally got Reshade!) In this generation, I started feeling like taking pictures again, maybe to post them here someday. It's hard to get back :(

Gen 12: Jungle Adventure

I took so many screenshots in this generation, but they just disappeared. I don't know what I did wrong =(

She was a journalist and explorer. Explored a lot of Selvadorada and wrote books about her travels.

Selvadorada is beautiful, but BORING! It was a short generation because I couldn't handle it anymore. I really loved her, but I lost her to an exploration curse.

Gen 13: Seasons + Spooky & Backyard stuff

My long-awaited Seasons expansion! It was such a cute generation!

He reached the top of the gardening career, tended to his garden, and followed all the holiday traditions. He had a little daughter who was a scout. They lived a quiet life in Brindleton Bay.

He tried to make up for everything his mom missed out on because she was always traveling. But they had a good relationship until the end.

Gen 14: Get Famous (Part 1)

OMG, I never thought I'd have such a blast with this expansion! It turned out to be one of the longest ones 'cause I turned off aging in the game.

Del Sol Valley is beautiful but small. Again! I think that's one of the few downsides of TS4 cities. There's very little space for lots. I had so many ideas for this city...

The expansion is really fun, the acting career is well-developed, and it was quite challenging to become a celebrity! I loved all the games, parties, and schemes she had to pull off to truly be considered a star. But most of all, the hard work. I maxed out all the necessary skills. She was perfect! She was the boss! Rich, famous, choosing who she wanted to be with and how. After a while, her job was just being beautiful, hitting the gym, and dodging the paparazzi.

The only one not vibing with all this was her daughter, who went nuts.
