The screaming from upstairs seems to be enough to tip the scales on what already felt like a tense evening. The dancing stops, the music, it’s just screaming and a flurry of motion all around them and she feels her fangs in her mouth, can smell blood, fresh spilled. Amala wants to move towards it, she wants to sink her teeth into one of those eladrins maybe, go at one of the few wolves that managed to weasel their way in. But she still had a tether to sanity, Dianna at her side and the realization of what must have happened sinking in. Turning to look towards the blonde, she can’t bring herself to speak, only hold out her arms to her. They don’t have time to grieve, the commotion has already whipped everyone into a frenzy. “We can’t stay here.”

The one who’d tried to kill Meryasek repeatedly. Melpomene had said he was still in there and he almost didn’t want to believe it, but he had to try. And he watches as his brother turns around, doesn’t dare move. “Do you even remember me, brother?” His tone is even despite how loud his heart is hammering in his chest. With what emotion, he’s not entirely sure. Hope maybe, but he thinks frustration is right behind it in line.

Still, the ceremony had been nice he guessed and now he got to run around during the reception on Valentine’s day with both of his…Partners? “Hey, am I your boyfriend?” Rowan stops completely in his tracks right in the middle of the hall that he’s trying to take Gabriel down so they can find somewhere to hang out that’s less full of fangs. “I know we haven’t really talked about it and I’m chill! Partner or whatever is fine, it’s not like I’m seeing anyone other than you two and you two are…” He gestures vaguely after tapping both index fingers together to indicate what he hopes is kissing. “Three musketeer shit, right?” This is not a conversation he wants to be having high by any means.

It’s something she’s conscious about as she moves from room to room, teeth sinking into a mortal if they get in her way, less to drink from and more to maim. She’d been made a fool of at Halloween when those witches had left her home in ruins, her once cozy seat on senate now practically burned her. It kept her from taking matters into her own hands and one of those damn Asphodel witches had to be around somewhere, they were far too smug to stay away, she just- “You.” The witch was so tall he was hard to miss as he ducked into the hall and she doesn’t waste any time in hurrying after him, practically throwing people out of her way. There’s too many people, other vampires fighting each other for a shot at the blood of a mortal, fey, or worse, each other.  “I should kill you!” She calls after him, emerging into the hall, fangs bared and dress ripped in several places.

The idea of getting your full name spooks him, cause what if he gets captured and some enemy agent sees? It's just too much of a risk for him. But initials are safer. Twice as much if they're hidden behind roman numerals.

So he reveals his new ink one day, during a quiet moment a few weeks after he gets it once it's healed up. He explains what the roman numerals are (they correspond to letters of the alphabet: A would be I, B is II, and so on) and what they mean, and you spend so long marveling at Simon's dedication that it takes you a minute to notice something... strange.

"There's no number for my last name."

He takes your hand, puts it over the numbers, and puts his forehead on yours.

"That's cause I'm hopin' you'll let me put the number 18 there, love."
