At the moment these are the only main 6 I’ve drawn in my style, I have a little of a tunnel vision when it comes to them if you haven’t noticed already lol
I prefer more subtle and simple changes because I love their canon selves and second because I tend to forget details of my own designs when I make them too fancy.
For Applejack I went for the beefy work horse route, and added a speckled coat. I always loved her little freckles in canon so! I think her design feels more completed with it.
As for Rarity I just added some classic unicorn anatomy like the long tail and cloven hooves! She’s also fluffier, I like fluffy animals. (Surprise!)
By the way, anyone is free to use these designs for art if they want, credits are appreciated but not needed. It’s not like they look super different or that I thought long and hard about them anyway!
look how pretty this is! :O like HELLO!?!? the sky!!!! (sorry I've been like mentally decaying and i just remembered how much i like the things i like and now i'm back to being annoying about it lol) this show is so pretty..
They had a bit of a chance encounter on a day where Blueblood was dealing with something that was very difficult and was so caught up in his emotions he didn’t even care that he was in the garden getting grass stans on his coat and Ditzy, with her natural impulse to cheer ponies up, didn’t even notice or care that she was flying into the palace gardens when she saw someone sat in the rain.
At first he was definitely going to call the castle guards to come apprehend this strange filly with the odd eyes who was intruding when this was the last moment he’d want to entertain any desperate debutantes, however she surprised him by not fawning or anything, not even caring about his status, just putting one of her fluffy wings up and asking if he needed somepony to lend an ear.
“Don’t let my eyes fool you, my ears work just fine!”
She was incredibly disarming and while he didn’t reveal everything about why he was upset, he found himself talking about his feelings to her. And she made such cheerful remarks, and was very comforting. In the end, he felt better and she came to check on him the next day, even sharing a blueberry muffin with him. He remarked that he’d never seen her around before, and that he wouldn’t mind terribly seeing her more often.
I’ve seen and made some art of the neighbors as ponies, so I was interested to see how the ponies would look in the world of Welcome Home. Each pony is based on a neighbor in terms of design: Rainbow Dash is Julie Joyful, Derpy Hooves is Eddie Dear, Rarity is Sally Starlet, Pinkie Pie is Barnaby B Beagle, Twilight Sparkle is Frank Frankly, Applejack is Howdy Pillar, and Fluttershy is Poppy Partridge. I couldn’t figure out who Wally would make a good base for, so let me know if you have any ideas for which pony I could merge with Wally’s design.
These were really fun to draw and think about. I can’t promise any more sketches of this particular crossover, but I will say I’m inspired!
