On International Women's Day we recognise the power of women, from those who have broken glass ceilings to the unseen labours of millions around the world. Feminists all across the globe continue to fight for gender equality and champion female excellence. Even if you find your self standing alone speak up. It’s not our job to stay silent so that others can stay comfortable. Use your voice to shape the world or other will shape it for us. In a world that is constantly pushing us to tear each other down, why not rebel against this gross initiative and love and support each other? Let me start by saying, girls are goddamn awesome. We are warriors who have to put up with a lot in the world. Some of us more than others. A lot of us, but not all of us, can create life. How cool is that? Hello everyone, and welcome to by very first tumblr post!

Im one of the the rare breeds that has finally landed on this platform, in my 20s. Unfortunately, NOT when I was in middle school and it was "hip". But hey, once a late bloomer, always a late bloomer? Better late than never🌸

I'm still learning my way around (on tumblr, in the world, in general), but I want to take this time to introduce my myself, my profile and what I hope for this profile to be.

Although my current profile images are very much "all things law", Im still figuring it out and I by all means dont want it to be the thing that "brands" me. This is not an account to show off, but rather bring together a community and ignite in our similarities and differences. I made this profile to incorporate my creative side into the struggles of a world so structured and competitive as academia and find creatives on a platform that are seeking the same outlet.

I think being constantly surrounded by such high achieving humans, in all areas of academia, it can be mentally grueling. You can lose yourself in all the hustle and bustle. Forget to be alive and your fundamental and authentic purpose of wanting to be a student and learn in the first place. The "why" to it all can seem to get blurred in it all and everyone wants to act like they are doing great. But we're not always 100%, and that is ok.

That is why I created "empathyandme". A chance to be vulnerable with each other and do so by expressing ourselves through our struggles and creative outlets such as art, love, poetry, communication, and most importantly, empathy. Coming from a place of understanding, we can find our place in this world, within academia, on this platform and know that we are not alone and that we too belong. As the great cast of High School musical once said over and over (and over), we're all in this together.

Hard to believe this time two years ago, we were hit with a pandemic that no one saw coming. During the last two years we learnt about ourselves. For some of us introverts, we loved it. For others, the fact we couldn't see our friends and family was the most difficult. But for all of us, seeing loved ones when they needed us most in illness, death, or sever sickness, was extremely hard mentally and emotionally. But now that most everything is lifted in almost everywhere has been a great blessing. To finally go for dinner without someone intrusive questions about being immunized or not. It is important to know we need to be sure we love everyone. The world has been divided long enough. My heart goes to Ukraine 🇺🇦 as they are now fighting for freedom that we have taken for granted. Support the families of Ukraine as they are fleeing the country and let's hope this war will end soon with Ukraine shining above the hate Putin has been showing them. I generally don't get involved in politics but I also hope Trudeau is out of office soon, as he has no backbone, as he would never ever fight like the President of Ukraine. Well that's my mini rant.
