Me explaining in terms of strictly how I read canon I think Nahida not severely punishing the Sages is just meant to convey that Nahida, even when wronged, is not a very vengeful or harsh person and makes the choice to be kind instead, but in my mind I have this idea of a Nahida interpretation which elaborates on that where her self punishing tendencies extend to her being someone who internally downplays her own experiences constantly, and as a result has a hard time feeling she’s allowed or justified in placing a lot of blame on the Sages for what they did to her So while she is following her own philosophies regarding teaching lessons/wisdom/etc in how to handle the Sages and genuinely doesn’t want to be really angry or punishing because of who she is as a person, her decision is also influenced by the fact she’s basically blocked herself out of grappling with how to handle people who hurt her by blaming herself for said hurt instead as a coping mechanism. And like this is all just me being insane about Nahida Trauma and not something explicitly implied in canon but also I really do think this isn’t a far stretch from her canon characterization especially when my vision isn’t to conclude that Nahida needs to be angry and vengeful but she should extend the kindness she shows others to herself and also every day I get tormented thinking about she was the mental equivalent of an average human child when the Sages found her and how they basically specifically discarded her for being a child and the idea of how Nahida would pick up on + internalize that and eventually need time to unlearn it

one of the most bitter ironies from a certain flavour of western (usually American, British, French) leftist who’se decided to comment on the Jews Writ large and just suggest that Israelis ought to have just gone back to where they come from if they didn’t want to be murdered is that the US, UK, and France been hugely culpable in forcing massive numbers of Jews, along with other middle eastern refugees, from their homelands through colonialism and interventionist and destabilizing policies in Iran, Afghanistan , Algeria, Lebanon, Yemen, and so forth. It’s downright ghoulish to refuse to wrestle with the history behind why the vast majority of the worlds’ middle eastern Jews live in the state of Israel when YOU, as the major colonial powers of the region, are culpable for it

I am once again failing the hidden social test with no correct answer, which is, “this person is mad because I’m not visibly upset and I’m staying calm and even good-natured while talking to them.” Like… do you want me to be getting mad at you in return? Do you want me to create a stress loop where I’m visibly anxious and your anxiety feeds off of it? You’re saying what I’m doing is wrong, but the alternative is worse, so ?????

I don’t want to put this on the correct blog bc it will seem like I’m bragging (which I don’t want to come across as lmao) and also there’s only like six people in the fandom and I tolerate half and don’t like the rest…
But anyways it is surreal to think that cuz I liked one character from a show so hard I got a degree in spanish and through a series of insane events over five years in less than a month I’m staying with the actress who played her for two weeks. I’m gonna help her archive old stuff from said show. She’s taking me to the biggest costume warehouses in Madrid. she even gave me the original scripts for the show that she WROTE in and contain a TON of deleted scenes that literally NO ONE but me and Sam know about….screaming twirling my hair kicking my feet she gave me the HOLY GRAIL of any fandom. The SACRED TEXTS!!!
Like if you had told me five years ago I would be staying with the actress who played my favorite character ever and working with her to preserve her work with the spanish government……I would’ve never believed you

You know, if this is the end of Puppet History, I’ll be satisfied. Because as much as I love the show, if feels right to end on a conclusive statement about appreciating what we have now, not focusing too much on the past or fearing too much about the future, and the message about the importance of the earth and all ki has to offer. Character wise, the conflict has been reconciled between Ryan and the Professor, both recognizing their shortcomings individually and apologizing in person.
So with the episode telling us not to fear the future, despite how scary change can be, and with the Professor bringing his parents with him to the present - a symbol that those who’ve brought us to where we are don’t have to leave us despite the time with them coming to an end, I think it’s the right place to end Puppet History.
