Going through Skin Game now, and I’d forgotten that Butters lead Nicodemus to the Swords. I feel like we don’t give the guy enough credit for his hand in the destruction of Fidelacchius. The fandom ripped Murph apart for being manipulated into that actual act of destroying the Blade, but Fidelacchius would never have been in a position of such weakness in Butters had actually had faith in Harry. It’s completely reasonable that he didn’t, but it still got Murphy a life-changing injury.

I don’t know, both books and fandom spend a fair bit of time raking Harry over the coals for the unintended consequences of his bad decisions (see: the entirety of Ghost Story), but no one I’ve seen has had a thing to say about the new bearer of the Sword Of Faith gaining that position due to (in part) his lack of faith.

I do like Butters, this just rubs me the wrong way.
