GO VOTE
Hey! It's voting day! And abortion is on the ballot in lots of states. So go vote to help secure our reproductive rights. If you live in a civilized state that votes by mail/drop-off ballot, today is the deadline to turn in your ballot! Otherwise, make sure you have a ride and a plan for getting to your local polling station by the end of the day.

So as we're heading into the American primaries, now is a super good time to see if you're registered to vote. Remember: even if you've been registered in the past, it's possible you've been removed from the registry without being notified. Go check.
Also, now's a really good time to put into your calendar when the relevant dates are for voting. If you plan on voting for election day, this link lists when that is in your state.
Note that voter ID laws may have changed since last time you voted. This map by ballotpedia shows the requirements by state. These rules may be different in the event that you are showing up to register and vote at the same time.

If you're unhappy with all of the options, remember that voting is not the only form of civic engagement you can engage in - getting engaged in your local community is still very much an option that is on the table and is effective. Voting and community organizing are not mutually exclusive acts. While the presidential race is the most prominent it is not the only race that's happening, and that local races that will affect your life far more directly are also on the ballot. Go vote.

Oh... I forgot its voting day. Shit.
Guess I'm skipping a class and scootering home to grab my forgotten mailing ballot. Because I, am an airhead. Also a socialist, but that less central to my predicament.

I made my voice heard! Go vote. Seriously. There's more on the line than you can imagine. But even outside hot button issues there's a lot locally on the line. In my town for instance timber companies and merging farms were trying to get out of paying their fair share of taxes via magically wanting to not pay ad valorem on large equipment and having more property tax exemptions. We also had the question of whether or not to change something with property taxes that would harm renters slightly, greatly help low income existing homeowners stay in their homes, and slightly advantage homeowners in general. Which hey that has arguments in all directions. Which is why it's important that I voted. I had thoughts about how to handle it & made them known. Go. Vote. ...also Krispy Kreme will give you a free donut for voting.

Happy voting day! Turn in your absentee ballots at your Board of Elections! Go vote at your local polling place! Just vote! If you're in line at close, they have to let you vote! Get your sticker! Vote! This one's pretty important. Remember that representatives matter a whole fucking lot! Vote!

Election fact:
America used to have a legitimate problem with a thing called cooping, where people would pretty much get abducted off the streets and coerced via intoxication or threat or violence to vote against and again while dressing them in various disguises. (X)
Edgar Allan Poe was believed to be a victim of this and cooping is posed as one of the many theories for his death.

So, there's a lot of USians around who are very clearly fucking fed up with their political choices this election cycle, and planning to sit it out.
And I get it! What's the point of voting if there's no one to vote for?
The thing is, I'm Australian. In Australia, voting is compulsory. We don't get to sit out our elections, and I'll be real honest with you - we don't exactly get better choices than you lot. So how do you vote if there's no one to vote for? You find someone to vote against. And there's always someone to vote against.
Now, we have the pleasure of preferential voting in Australia - We get to rank every candidate from 1 to X, and I'll tell you, there's something so cathartic about putting the biggest bastard of the lot at the very bottom of your preferences. I understand that USians don't get that option - you get to mark one person, and that's it.
That means that you get one shot, so aim it at the biggest bastard of the lot. The candidate you most utterly detest. Put your vote in the worst possible place for them. Don't even think about who that vote's going towards, that's not the point. Remember, every vote is a vote against someone. Make sure you fuck up that someone's election day!
