Now thinking about it...V was low-key a menace throughout VoV and probably shouldn't have been walking around the streets alone...
- He was walking around the streets butt naked and mugged a stranger for their clothes (and ACCESSORIES).
- Instead of getting a JOB, he and Griffon thought it was a good idea to rob someone so they can reach Dante.
- That robbery resulted in V slaughtering 3 other robbers (must I add, BRUTALLY) in front of a woman.
- Pissed Dante off by mentioning Vergil.
- Told a child he wouldn't care if the demons attacked the child (in context, he did tell the kid to run away cause it wasn't safe, but the kid wanted to protect his injured mom).
- Got hungry and decided to eat RAW demon meat (it wasn't delicious).
- Moments later, he toast more raw demon meat to see if it makes a difference (it did NOT).
- Let's not forget the obvious, he brought several devil hunters to a fight NONE of them were prepared for (and have the nerve to act surprise when everyone is DEFEATED).
So much to unpack here; the implications that Devil Sword Sparda perhaps has a mind of its own, a piece of Sparda and it was no accident the sword and Dante fell so close to each other after facing Urizen: Sparda's soul was protecting his son by concealing his presence from predators for months. Dante was slumbering in Sparda's shadow.
Second: V may not be 100% Vergil but shares many of his traits including the belief that Dante was the chosen favourite...Vergil believed their mother, Eva died protecting Dante while he was left behind. And now he witnessed their father, Sparda protecting Dante. To V/Vergil, Dante was the favorite "chosen" child. It wasn't true of course but the circumstances fed that belief.
Honestly I'm fascinated by V's relationship to Vergil. Like, basically the minute he popped out V took one look at himself and was like "oh my god I was wrong about everything, I have been a complete moron my entire fucking life, I need to make this right," but he doesn't seek to defeat Vergil, he seeks to save him. He knows even for all his catastrophic idiocy Vergil is worth fighting for and deserves a chance because he was Vergil. It turns out after all this time the one to finally see through all his bluster and cut through to the scared kid who "just wanted to be protected and loved" was... himself. No love quite like self love.
