THEY  DID  IT.  they  actually  managed  to  get  through  it.  he  had  wed  and  she  was  to  be  his  queen  whenever  he  would  ascend  to  the  crown  in  the  unfortunate  event  of  his  father’s  death.  however,    king  or  prince  didn’t  matter,  the  only  part  that  mattered  was  that  the  adorning  public  saw  a  couple  so  in  love  with  each  other  that  their  marriage  also  brings  about  an  alliance  between  their  two  planets.  an  alliance.  he  always  knew  that  he  would  never  be  able  to  marry  for  love  given  his  position,  but  still  he  detested  that  he  wasn’t  the  only  one  who  was  inconvenienced  by  this  arrangement.  he  didn’t  want  her  to  be  unhappy  as  well.  

though,  to  be  quite  frank,  ben’s  suffering  wasn’t  coming  from  a  place  of  unhappiness  because  he  didn’t  like  her.  it  was  quite  the  opposite  actually.  ben  was  suffering  from  the  longing  and  the  pining  that  he  constantly  had  to  fight  himself  to  control,  lest  he  make  her  uncomfortable.  the  truth  was  that  he  had  become  quite  taken  with  his  now  wife  over  the  course  of  them  pretending  to  keep  up  the  charade  of  being  such  a  loving  couple.  he  didn’t  think  for  a  second  that  she  would  return  his  affections  so  he  kept  them  to  himself.  

he  had  a  feeling  that  things  would  soon  be  going  ‘off  the  rails’  in  a  sense  because  now  they  had  to  sleep  in  the  same  bed  together  and  coexist  together  in  the  same  bedchambers  because  now  they  were  married;  no  longer  did  they  have  the  excuse  of  only  being  engaged.  still  as  it  was  their  wedding  night,  he  intended  to  make  it  special  for  her.  

so  when  their  made  it  to  their  room,  he  swiftly  turned  and  picked  her  up  bridal  style,  intending  to  carry  her  over  the  threshold  of  what  was  now  their  rooms.  “just  because  we’re  married  via  an  alliance,  doesn’t  mean  tonight  can’t  be  special.  you  deserve  a  special  night.  TONIGHT  IS  YOUR  NIGHT  OKAY?”

the   lamp   on   his   bedside   illuminated   a   soft   light   around   the   room.   he   was   sitting   up   against   his   pillows   with   a   book   in   his   lap.   he   wasn’t   quite   ready   to   sleep   yet,   so   he   was   just   up.   it   was   about   an   hour   later   when   he   heard   what   sounded   like   noises   of   distress   coming   from   rey’s   room.   brows   furrowing   in   confusion   and   a   small   bit   of   concern,   he   walked   across   the   hall   to   her   room.   he   knocking   softly,   he   opened   the   door,   only   to   see   her   in   the   middle   of   a   nightmare.   he   walked   over   and   gently   shook   her   awake,   “hey,   i’m   here   it’s   okay.”   he   spoke   to   her   softly   before   climbing   into   bed   beside   her,   “I   GOT   YOU   REY,   YOU’RE   NOT   ALONE,   I’M   HERE.”
