A chaotic travel experience for a United Airlines passenger ended this week after she used an Apple AirTag to help track down her lost luggage.
Valerie Szybala went viral after she shared her experience in a Twitter thread about how she put the tech accessory, which works with iPhone and other Apple devices to track and find belongings, in her suitcase.
Szybala, who was unavailable for an interview Tuesday, said she was then able to track her bag’s location throughout the delivery process.
“I’d just like everyone to know that @united has lost track of my bag and is lying about it," she tweeted Sunday. "My apple AirTag shows that it has been sitting in a residential apartment complex for over a day. Out back by the dumpsters, I have found other emptied United Airlines bags."
Szybala also tweeted screenshots of her conversation with a United representative, who told her to “calm down” when she brought up concerns about her luggage delivery.
The representative stopped responding to her after she inquired about United’s lost bag policy, she said.
After having spent three days scoping out the apartment complex, Szybala was contacted by the courier service in charge of the delivery and reunited with her bag Monday, according to Mashable.
The delivery service, Couriers United LLC, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In an email statement, a spokesperson said United has "been in touch with this customer to discuss this situation and confirm she has received her luggage," adding, "The service our baggage delivery vendor provided does not meet our standards and we are investigating what happened to lead to this service failure.”
Szybala's travel woes came as many across the country faced flight delays and travel woes. All carriers were affected by a major winter storm that affected most of the U.S. going into the Christmas weekend. Southwest Airlines, which canceled thousands of flights last week and infuriated passengers, said Tuesday it was making “solid progress” on processing refunds.
After her tumultuous journey retrieving her lost luggage, Szybala advised people to take precautionary measures when traveling, including taking pictures of items in suitcases for reimbursement purposes and opting out of third-party delivery for lost bags.
“The 3rd party delivery service is where this got sketchy imho,” she tweeted.
She urged people to use tracking devices like the AirTag in their luggage, which she said was a “lifesaver.”
AirTags have soared in popularity on Amazon amid the recent Southwest Airlines flight cancellations, although the devices have been criticized for allowing unwanted tracking in the past. AirTags were used in tracking lost luggage before, when a woman used hers to track her luggage near an airline subcontractor’s home. The subcontractor, Giovanni De Luca, was arrested after authorities found stolen items in his home.

Updates and my Plagued Thanksgiving
So I haven't posted in awhile because I went to Texas for my annual visit to see my grandma, we went to the Zoo to see our favorite Elephant we have been seeing since birth as well as NASA (a special interest/hyperfixation if mine) and a some other stuffs.
When I got home my fiance' was sick with a sinus infection and my PCA was sick with a cold, I of course am immune compromised so when I got sick with their ickies I got Coxsackie Virus, Encephalitis and Viral Meningitis so I have been extremely ill and in bed with high fevers, vomitting, coughing and throat blisters and ulcers for about 2 weeks now, oh the joys.
Bless my PCA Jeanie. She is also a roomate and a best friend of nearly 8 years, her and Jer are no longer sick and she is taking on the Thanksgiving meal solo this year since I am very contagious!!!! So this year I am very thankful for her. (: but I wanted to update everyone as to why Ive been a bit inactive in here lately. Happy holidays everyone. Hope yours is not plagued like mine. Merry moments and may your holiday be filled with the ability to eat, enjoy, and properly digest whatever food you want to partake in and may you have all the spoons you need!!

Cricut or what
I like to watch this nyc lifestyle vlog sometimes, it is nice because there are things in the videos that I have seen before while shopping online or rarely in person shopping. I like the decorated glass tumblers in this video, which are like an iridescent set of cupcakes and cashmere brand glass tumblers I didn't purchase from the local tj maxx, or things I have seen online. In past videos, this youtuber used a customized taylor swift style viral Stanley cup and she decorated a coffee mug with her own cricut machine. I would love an excuse to work on a laptop again. Sometimes she goes to an influencer boxing class, I could get workout clothes just like the videos, she does her skincare and makeup with a big spa headband like they sell at the local ROSS or online. But I usually just watch the videos because I'm not working on any projects or goals, there is already too much cute or trendy stuff around me again without a purpose and I think if I got some salon equipment, my TV room would look like a beauty salon for children's parties. So many possibilities, but I don't know what to do. At least it is nice to see what they do on youtube for a cohesive media personality lifestyle.

I also thought about it, I have a dream catcher and a little bear fan, the decorations could go in another direction and be southwest or native appropriation style or taco bell speakeasy, it would look cool but probably not quite right for anything if I added a neon sign shaped like a Cactus and some colorful Mexican blankets.

Have you ever been so bored when you were in jail, you read some out of print books about missionaries and native americans. Like an older version of this book that has a map with Formosa
Then there was that obscure academic book about sioux Indians and some other inmates already tore out the pages with annie oakley's photograph. My old girl scout leader when I did girl scouts as a child was married to a descendent of Custer, I don't think there were any pages left in that jail book with his or his wife's photo. Last year, the girl scout leader helped my mom (troop co-leaders) with the garage/estate sale when before my mom moved away from this house, I don't know what kind of weird stuff was going on with her network, but it's the type of people who find men who look like my crime victims to prance around town with and send them thru the drive thru when I worked at mcdonalds and promote the singer jelly roll and the movie the whale and then do a background check that is incorrect and confuses my domestic crimes with what happened with this former friend that was a more serious charge until my plea deal, and I could never go back because of how everyone there violated me and scared me and I don't know how to play those games and thrive like other people, like whoever he was sending gift card codes to. I was recently reminded of this when I was streaming episodes of Dateline on youtube, and there was an episode about a woman in the military who was murdered on a military base. My friend was also involved with gift card romance scammers who said they were on military bases.
I could go on an on about advertising I've suffered through related to accusations from that case, I don't know how they do that, but I do not think it's fair to bother me anymore because he was my friend and I'm sorry it didn't work out and I can't go back.
Like, it wasn't a joke when he showed me photos of a woman in her underwear, bound and gagged with ransom notes superimposed text on the photos in weird font. He met her online and she got kidnapped instead of catching her flight to meet him. He actually called police departments other places. He told me that another girl friend of his was offering kidnapping for hire services, like reenacting a violent crime or some kinky thing )not like a cute thing like blindfolding someone on their way to their surprise destination birthday party). That is scary. Sometimes, I wonder if it is good when you're homeless to have the reputation of an insane criminal, like I did especially when i was homeless and trying to fulfill all my court obligations after release from jail. I did not get into that thing inmates (or some acquaintances or friends and family might do) do with announcing the maximum penalties when they talk about what they're in for.

The days of buying ultracheap stuff on TikTok Shop may be winding down.
Starting today, the fees TikTok charges sellers increase from 2 percent to 6 percent of the price of each order. They will creep up to 8 percent in July. The changes may mark a crucial moment for people who shop on TikTok and for the platform itself, potentially forcing up prices and testing shopper’s loyalty to the social app’s ecommerce play.
TikTok Shop launched in the US in September with strikingly low prices compared to other online stores, thanks to its subsidies to sellers and shoppers. Influencers and entrepreneurs embraced the opportunity: TikTok saw a surge of sellers that outpaced growth in vendors at competitors like Shopify and Amazon, according to a March report from SimilarWeb, which tracks web traffic. If TikTok Shop continues to increase its fees, those sellers may struggle, Enberg predicts. TikTok did not provide a comment on the fee changes for this story.
TikTok Shop’s seller fees are still lower than many fees for Amazon sellers, which vary by type of product. The lowest are 5 percent, for low-cost apparel, but they generally range between 8 and 20 percent for jewelry and fine art. But TikTok Shop is a different beast than the everything store. While many people turn to Amazon to search for necessities, on TikTok Shop buyers often find products they didn’t know they wanted through influencers and algorithmic discovery—more similar to Temu or Shein.
TikTok sellers face the additional challenge of needing their pitches to stand out from the parade of loud, viral video content the app services up. Influencers and brands selling through TikTok Shop have to convince people scrolling for entertainment to stop and shop. People are often “in the app to do something completely different,” says Michael Yamartino, an ecommerce expert and CEO of Route, a platform that helps brands ship orders.
Sellers that respond to higher fees by raising prices may discover that they’ve lost a key ingredient needed for success in TikTok’s ecommerce model. TikTok Shop does still offer subsidies to sellers. Shoppers don’t pay shipping on orders of $20 or more. Last week, TikTok was advertising a Spring Sale in the app’s Shop tab, offering discounts up to 30 percent (a combination of TikTok subsidies and sellers slashing prices) and free shipping on some items. Among them: a Duolingo owl head covering, 10 pairs of socks for $3.80, and a set of stuffed capybara plush dolls.
TikTok’s fee changes could be most challenging for small-time or individual sellers that embraced its shopping platform, some hawking cheap or questionable items. The flood of random, kitschy and trendy products has eclipsed some more established retailers and bigger brands.
Paul Jauregui, who cofounded BK Beauty with his wife Lisa, says their company has seen massive success since they started also selling their products on TikTok Shop, selling more than 168,000 makeup brushes and cosmetics on the app. It’s the sort of product primed for TikTok, where beauty content is huge and influencers can easily showcase makeup tools. “When you hit this trend, you’re just carried on this wave that takes you very high quickly,” Jauregui says.
Jauregui still believes in the power of TikTok. For now, BK Beauty will likely absorb some of the additional costs, but the fee changes may affect how the company advertises on the platform or engages in TikTok Shop’s flash sales, he says. “The subsidies have started to fade. We’re still leaning in.”

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, on Thursday reported revenue of $40.1bn and a profit of $14bn for the fourth quarter of last year – far surpassing analysts’ forecasts.
Meta’s stock price surged more than 14 percent to surpass $445 in after-hours trading.
Meta reached a major milestone on Thursday as it became the first in its generation of tech unicorns – a company whose valuation reaches $1bn prior to listing on the stock market – to announce it would pay shareholders a dividend, set at 50 cents per share.
“We had a good quarter as our community and business continue to grow,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
Amazon’s fourth-quarter results also came in ahead of expectations with sales of $170bn, sending shares up as much as 9 percent.
Amazon’s AWS cloud business also posted strong results for the last quarter, with revenue reaching $24.2bn.
“This Q4 was a record-breaking holiday shopping season and closed out a robust 2023 for Amazon,” Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a statement.
Meta and Amazon have both been engaged in aggressive cost-cutting, with the tech giants laying off about 48,000 employees between them since 2022.
The tech titans’ strong performance added $280bn to US markets on Thursday, with the S&P500, NASDAQ Composite Index, and Dow Jones Industrial Average all closing on a high note.
Meta and Amazon’s better-than-expected fourth-quarter showing is a bright spot in a bumpy start to 2024 amid growing scrutiny from US regulators over online safety concerns and alleged antitrust breaches.
Fellow tech giant Apple also beat expectations with its fourth-quarter results on Thursday, but its stock dipped 3.3 percent on the back of a 13 percent decline in iPhone sales in China, where local brands have toppled its once dominant market position.
Google’s parent company Alphabet on Tuesday announced fourth-quarter financial results that missed analysts’ forecasts, sending shares more than 6 percent lower.
