Reapers (Mass Effect) "Spoilers for the entire original Mass Effect trilogy.

At their core, the Reapers represent the insignificance of humanity (and other sapient creatures) in the face of an ancient and unfathomably wide universe.

The Reapers have some superficial similarities with the Extinction: namely, that their driving goal is to "Harvest" (i.e. commit complete genocide against) space-faring species. That said, their role in the text fits better fits the Vast.

First, the Reaper's plans play out on an incomprehensibly Vast time scale. In the Mass Effect universe, humanity experienced First Contact less than 30 years before the start of the first game. Contrast the Asari, who were the first species in the current cycle to reach the Citadel, reached the Citadel in approximately 580 B.C.E.. Operating on a still larger timescale, Protheans, the ancient species credited with leaving behind the mass effect technology, "disappeared" (spoiler alert: it was the Reapers) c. 48,000 B.C.E.. The Reapers' cycle makes even that timescale look like grains of sand. They show up every 50,000 years or so to carry out their "Harvest" and vanish into the darkness beyond the galaxy to bide their time. The Mass Effect wiki puts the years where their creators killed one of them (and therefore the approximate beginning of the Cycles) as c. 1,000,000,000 B.C.E..

Next, they're really, really big. Freaking ginormous. A helpful Redditor posted an illustration comparing one to skyscrapers in modern LA: https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/2e3qui/a_reaper_to_scale_with_modern_day_downton_los/. The only ways Shepard manages to take one down on foot: (1) pulling a Mothra v. Godzilla thing with the terrifyingly large and aggressive Kalros, Mother of Thresher Maws, (this was a small one, BTW) and; (2) using a targeting laser and letting an actual fleet of spaceships do the firing. Sovereign, the Reaper vanguard, is several times larger than the largest ships galactic society has to offer.

(MAJOR SPOILERS FOR MASS EFFECT 2) You know Simon Fairchild's gargantuan person made out of people? The Reapers did that but even more gruesomely. Well, Shepard manages to put a stop to it for humans specifically, but each Reaper is a superstructure built around a giant representation of a species the Reapers Harvested, made out of matter collected from that species. It's their way of "preserving" the species. (Also, remember the part about cycles being every 50 thousand years and the cycles starting 1 billion years BCE? They've done The Great Beast thing around 20 thousand times by the time Mass Effect takes place.)

Then, there's the entire first conversation Sovereign has with Shepard. I'll be happy to send a video of it on YouTube via ask if the Reapers make it in, but highlights include: --Sovereign claiming to be beyond sapient comprehension. --Sovereign calling organic life "nothing but a genetic mutation." --This part: "The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Organic civilizations rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory they are extinguished. The Protheans were not the first. They did not create the Citadel." --And this: "We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness." --And this: " We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape your doom."

Holy existential crisis, Batman!

Anyway, in the text of Mass Effect, Reapers serve as a literalization of the existential fear borne of recognizing that in the vast scale of the universe, humans aren't likely to be the first or only intelligent species--that we're young and tiny and only just beginning to understand the natural world. In the face of that enormity, are we capable of being meaningful? Or are we doomed to be void of meaning and impact?

The One Who Wanders And Waits/The Wanderer (Space Boy) "The Magnificent Bastard behind an Ancient Conspiracy to ensure humanity someday reaches the Monolith. It's intentions are unknown due to its Blue-and-Orange Morality, but it has used it's emotion-manipulating powers to slowly brainwash the entire staff of the FCP so they'll be easy to manipulate so it can achieve it's goals. When he was a child, Oliver encountered The Wanderer, who drove Oliver to a five-year-long existential crisis over the vastness and emptiness of space. He made Oliver see the world in terms of “The Nothing in between the stars […] a vast Nothing. An emptiness.” Oliver thinks that most people willingly ignore the “Nothing” because they’re frightened by it, but he can no longer ignore that “The universe is almost entirely made up of Nothing. Even the atoms in our bodies consist primarily of empty space. We are all just bits of matter, floating in the void.” This post explains it better."

Hogwart’s Legacy models-extra student files.(SPOILERS!)

So I got a hold of a copy of Hogwarts Legacy and using F-Model (now deleted because my system kept picking it up as Ransomware and shut off access to my files)

Anyway trying to get an actual completed model using it was a fucking disaster (They all seem to have been built using a modified version of the character creator and are broken down into heads-arms etc all scattered) BUT I did get the names of the student models heads-some of which are rather interesting.

So I’ve barely started the game and as such I can’t confirm every name on the first list. However a few things stand out.

Hector Weasley was seen in the previews for the game-he became Hector Jenkins. whether or not the model is different I know longer have the capability of knowing. (BTW if someone wants to advise me on a different way of accessing the model files please let me know)

Aesorpe Sharp YOUNG Is the next eyebrow raiser on the list-from watching playthroughs I have yet to see Sharpe looking anything but his older self. again I can’t access the model now but If someone else wants to give this a try go right on ahead.

Eric WEASLEY Is another annoyance-possible brother we have yet to see?

Ominis Gaunt mentions in idle dialogue he has THREE sisters currently at Hogwarts -we see NONE. EDIT: DISCUSSION OVER THE BACKGROUND DIALOG HAS HINTED THAT NEARLY ALL THESE CONVERSATIONS ARE RECYCLED AND A GREAT DEAL OF THE CHARCTERS DO NOT USE THIER ORIGINAL VOICE ACTORS WHEN SPEAKING. THIS PUTS INTO QUESTION THE ‘CANNONITY’ OF THESE LINES.

It’s a possibility that Garreth had a brother or two but they got cut (Hectors name change is a strong indication) and Ominis could be in the same boat however the idle dialogue is something they forgot to remove.

there's also several names that I can’t find on the wiki-the weird way that some of the students are labelled as a student and others are not (Leander, Everett) is another annoyance as they could simply be town based NPCS and until I stumble across them in game I wont know. However the HP Wiki has no information on:

So-I’ve now had a cup of tea after writing this list and every horrible damning explanation of what happened to these students has whizzed through my mind-I have a few theory's.

A. These are the names of characters who will appear in DLC.

B. These characters exist but are simply not named yet.

c. whhoollee lotta cut content.

Along with Quidditch and the companion system answer C seems unfortunately the most likely.

I could say a lot my how disappointed I am if C. truly is the answer but what can you do?

Big edit: So it seems like It was merely the wiki people being slow-practically ALL these models exist in game-excuse me I’m going to go and see if I can get the wiki people to keep a better record.

BRASS GOGGLES BY STEAM POWERED GIRAFFE IS LITERALLY MURDER DRONES'S THEME SONG, NO I WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND AND I WILL FIGHT YOU.

no but seriously it fits so well, the thing is this song has gone through many different versions it can fit the show in different ways.

like the song can be told in multiple POVs, but I think some version fit some characters better. For example the most current version of brass goggles (I think) is the one that includes "tea time", (for context some version aren't officially in platforms as it has only been performed by the band at their concerts/live shows but you can listen to it in youtube since a lot of their live performances are posted there) fits CYN as the main singer so well! ( I also feel she can fit as "upgrade"s part in the 2008 version)

tho yes even tho the song in all of it versions has a very old timey vibe (which honestly in that case fits the CYN and the whole creepy manor fiasco) lyric wise it fits a lot of the characters.

tho i think the 2013 version gives it a much more energy so gives it a different vibe (am talking the walter robotics expo and the one at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego) and I think it fits Uzi better bc the instrumentals and vocals go HARD in those performances of that version.

honestly any version of brass goggles can be sung by multiple characters from Murder Drones, each having their part.

there are so many songs from SPG that can fit murder drones so well, mostly lyric wise.

honestly we need sci-fi vibe songs about robot singing about the experience of living.

btw if u wanna know how many versions this song has its around 5 i think:

-album one (2009 version) this version of the album had the backup vocals of Erin Burke who portrayed "Upgrade" before she left the band in 2011

-album one (2012) the most known one

-"2013 version" - in this "version" which was performed at the Walter Robotics expo and at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego had much more energy and intensity and had an added drum solo.

-Music from SteamWorld heist (2015) - this version made for the game had a more upbeat but not necessarily an intense instrumental, and according to the SPG wiki,the developers game team sang alongside the band in the chorus.

btw in the 2013 and 2015 version had the backup vocals of Samuel luke, who was the og drum player before he joined as "Hatchworth" taking over the role of "the Jon" (who was portrayed by jonathan sprague, who left the band in late 2012)

-Tea time/Tea break (2014-present in performances) this version contains a "tea break" between before the final chorus and bridge of the song.

also in 2015 in performances the drums where no longer presented and instead was replaced by a keyboard and went HARD when the song had the "tea break" part (I think I know why this was made but GOD the history of the changes inside the band is hella long)

and btw in some performances you'll see a different member of the band, which is zero who joined the band in 2016 after Hatchworth/sam luke left

oh and in some version some lyrics of the song change, although most of the time they are minor ones and are mostly present in the the backup vocals.

(Oh and btw Rabbit (the character) and isabella/"bunny" (Rabbit's performer) is trans and uses She/Her pronouns, but she started the band before she transitioned, so in some older performances you'll see rabbit with an outdated design and pronouns, am just saying this so some of yall dont get confused when watching their old content. Also Rabbit has the tendency to constantly change her design (which makes sense why this song has so many versions since its sang by rabbit and contains heavy lore of the SPG storyline))

I always find it depressing when brackets refuse to take lesser suggested characters as that means franchises from smaller countries/countries with less of a pop cultural impact on the world won't come in..! And since many brackets are just as much character design competitions, lesser known being ignored is just depressing..!

Fair warning, I'm feeling a bit cross. Don't take it too personally, this is in answer to a take I've often seen on this website

Believe me, I feel you. I'm still bummed no one submitted Azur or Asmar on the "we love animation" website

That being said, I don't know why you're supposing I'm going to do that ? Have some faith in me, please

I'm already running three tournaments with ongoing polls (well I'm a bit late on one of them). I've included all the characters submitted in two of them. I'm doing my best to include as many as I can in the 3rd one, running hundreds of the equivalent of prelims polls so most characters feature in at least one poll

I can take criticism and you probably didn't mean any harm but that seems quite unfair of you to send me that. I'd like to add that pollrunners do what they can and that guilttripping them (on a website full of people with anxiety issues - me included), even if it wasn't intentional, isn't cool.

You don't have to make pollrunners feel bad for only undertaking what they have the time/energy to do. You could ask most pollrunners to give you their lists of characters who didn't make it into their brackets and they would gave them to you with their blessing to use them for your own tournament they'd gladly promote.

I'm currently adding two columns to my google docs so I can group the characters per color and language used. (Kind reminder here to precise the language when the name isn't of English origin. Typing the names each time and checking their wiki is wasted time)

I'm investing myself in this. We all are, no matter to which degree or in which capacity (some spent an awful time on design, not I)

Respect us. We're free to do what we want (which is often what we have the free time for, btw, but if someone doesn't want to spend more than 5h a week on a bracket and still have free time, it'd still be legit) and we're bringing you free entertainment. We do this for fun, not so people can make us feel bad about not including billions of characters

Okay. So. I told you that I had some Ideas. First of all, I’d like to preface this by saying that I know little to nothing about the lanterns in dc canon, so this may deviate a bit from that. Which is fine, since the ttau is mostly a chaotic mess operating by its own rules anyway.

Right. Well. You know how most of my asks start out these days. So I was reading through old asks and taking notes when I came across one of the older asks about Eret. Potentially the first. It was just one bullet point out of a bunch of headcanons, not much, but basically it just suggested that maybe Eret was guarding some sort of ancient power of Herobrine’s, keeping it from falling into the wrong hands. Now obviously this doesn’t 100% fit with our current conception of Eret’s character in the ttau, but I like to keep as many ideas I can from the asks in some form or another, so I was thinking that maybe there could be some sort of artifact that Herobrine was watching over.

Since we don’t have a ton of stuff for the black lanterns arc, I wanted the artifact to be related to that somehow. So I paid a brief visit to the Green Lanterns Wiki and found out about this fun little time called the Book of the Black. The black lanterns need it to start the Blackest Night, which is what they’re trying to do when they attack the other lanterns and all that.

So basically I was thinking. In my eternal duo fic, (ch11 is up now btw, it covers a fair amount of this stuff), I used the black lanterns causing trouble as the excuse for why Grian (then called Xelqua) was asking Herobrine to investigate Lucia’s disappearance instead of doing it himself. So my idea was that, around that time, Grian ends up stealing the book and gives it for Herobrine to safeguard, since the black lanterns probably wouldn’t think to look for it with him. This makes it so that the black lanterns can’t do any more large scale attacks until they get the book back.

Now, Herobrine kept this book in the trunk with all of his most valuable possessions. The one that Foolish has kept ever since his death. (Herobrine had told him to pass it on to his reincarnation to protect but Foolish hadn’t done it yet for the same reason he’s never opened it; he’s not quite emotionally ready to confront that yet). I was thinking that the trunk could go missing sometime during the election arc.

As for what happened to it… well… the Green Lanterns Wiki mentioned that someone named Scar had the book at one point, and while that Scar has almost nothing in common with ttau!Scar, aside from the name, I still thought that it was way too good a coincidence to pass up. So I was thinking that the Vex could ally themselves with the black lanterns. I haven’t figured out the specifics, but basically the Vex would end up possessing Scar a lot during that time period (like, a couple of seasons) leading up to the black lanterns’ attack, and he would be the one to steal the book for them. (Of course, it would take them a while to figure out how to open the trunk. It’s covered with a ridiculous number of padlocks of all possible varieties, and it’s warded to hell and back).

I have some really angsty eternal duo ideas for this arc too, but I can’t share them yet because they involve spoilers for the fic. But rest assured, they are very angsty. :)

YOOO that is perfect, Fencer! :0 I love the idea of the Vex being allied with the Black Lanterns (there were fan theories going around about minecraft Evokers trying to raise the dead and the Vexes being souls they summoned). It's very fitting!

Public Knowledge (Available online, easily accessible):

Lorelei Kaimana Snow is the founder, owner, and lead designer at the Summer Snow boutique, located on Mele Mele island in Alola. She has been working since she was 19, and founded the boutique at age 25. She is currently 28 years old.

Lorelei’s network includes Felicia Blanche, a famous Kalosian designer of women’s fashion who apprenticed Lorelei and who happens to be her stepmother. Despite murmurs of nepotism, Lorelei has described Felicia as “one of the toughest customers I’ve ever had - I wasn’t allowed to finish my apprenticeship until I created a garment she would put on a runway. Anyone who’s worked for her knows how exacting that standard is, but I’m a better designer because of it.”

Lorelei is currently single. There are rumors of a former fiance, but no conclusive evidence of this exists.

Lorelei has a quadrupedal goodra named Benji. He’s a good boy.

Luminous is a masked vigilante with powers of unknown origin, who is dedicated to preventing structural damage in extreme natural and Pokemon-induced events. She also wrangles Ultra Beasts and sends them back to their dimension.

Luminous’s powers include flight, super strength, crystal generation and manipulation, energy manipulation, matter manipulation (but she can only make purple, black and white), and accelerated healing. The source and extent of these powers is unknown.

Luminous can be reached... generally by yelling, honestly? She often leaves communication devices in Areas of Interest that can just be poked and spoken into, and she’ll be there. They look like sparkly purple-pink rocks.

Semi-public Knowledge (Available if you dig for it):

Lorelei’s timeline is... spotty? She seems to move from place to place far faster than somebody with her resources should be able to, and there’s an entire section on her frequent days-to-weeks-long “disappearances” where she’ll just seem to vanish off the map and can’t be reached. This timeline isn’t on Wikipedia, btw, it’s on a fashion designer’s wiki.

Lorelei is capable of doing extremely detailed work in short periods, which would suggest she’s using mass manufacturing or some sort of external labor, but there is no proof or even a hint as to where or how she can be doing it, especially when she’s always seen working on these projects herself. People who have seen her work can confirm she is capable of doing hand embroidery, jeweling, and beading, so she might actually be that fast.

Lorelei is a great cook, and originally intended to succeed her father as head chef of his eventual restaurant. She was drawn to fashion as a career early on in the process of funding the restaurant, but still comes in to help her dad when she can.

Lorelei has four parents - her bio-dad Kei and bio-mom Lea are both divorced, and remarried to Andrea and Felicia respectively.

Lorelei has a... cousin? Named Lore. She’s 19, a lesbian, and interested in becoming a proper tainer.

Luminous has died at least once to public knowledge, or at least appeared dead, before disappearing from public view. She re-appeared a week later, claiming an “emergency status” and subsequent recovery.

There’s... a castle? Made of crystal? Off the coast of Mele Mele. But it only exists some of the time when Luminous approaches it. What is within this castle is unknown, but she retreats to it when severely injured.

Luminous is a confirmed dimension-hopper, and can cross between worlds without issue. She does this often to provide aid to other timelines.

Private Knowledge (no online record of this information exists, and is only accessible by talking to the correct people):

Lorelei can only retain memories of other timelines that disappear or taper off by taking something tangible from them. She does this by way of taking Polaroid photos and writing as many details as she can on the back.

Lorelei’s fiance, Rhys, was from another timeline which tapered off. She retained the fading memory of him for a long time, but Lore eventually destroyed his polaroid in order to free Lorelei from the cycle of grief she was trapped in from it. She remembers not being single at some point, but all other details are lost, and no conclusive evidence of his existence remains.

Lore is the only known alternate of Lorelei, and came from the “original” timeline that eventually broke off into our current one. Her timeline is now gone, and an empty pocket dimension is all that remains.

Benji is afflicted with the same magic as Luminous, and (unknown to Lorelei) is actually typed dragon/fairy.

Luminous has died conclusively three times - once by falling from a great height shortly after gaining her powers, once by way of a rampaging Kyogre, once by absorbing the power of an Ultimate Weapon and overloading herself. She has nearly died several more times.

The Ultimate Weapon she disarmed is stored in the underbelly of the castle, at the heart of a garden which somehow exists in a state of being upside down.

And, of course:

Lorelei Kaimana Snow and Luminous are the same person.

Yes, please block people for the nefarious crime of using tags for characters that don't actually exist in the series this is THE most reprehensible thing you can do and anyone who does it should be banned it is worse than denying war crimes and wishing Muslims to be tortured. Plus how can you even be so sure those characters aren't from side material like stage plays? You literally listed Paul Atishon from SOJ as an OC! Why are you even so upset about these tags? lmao you're so pathetic.

Original characters should never have their own tags on fanfiction.net. That is what the OC tag is for. The OC tag is what makes it clear to everyone that there is an original character. Being unclear leads to confusion and makes everything a bad experience all around. People using character tags to troll a fandom deserve to be blocked for being trolls. Got it? BTW, I used this wiki character page to cross-check.

Sadly, because fanfiction.net abbreviates character names, it is very easy to not even be able to find a character's name on a Wiki. Also confirmation biased is a wicked thing. When you see only known trolls using a character tag, your confirmation bias will make a canon character appear as an original character.

And oh look, you decided to talk the current situation in the Middle East with Israel and Hamas in an unrelated conversation. Says a lot more about you than it does me. Are you going to talk about how Hamas militants are committing war crimes as well? You know by not wearing anything to make them distinct from citizens.

Their Energy

Spider; this is more so a vibe than the actual card's meaning. I know of the lore, so the spider with its web and the strings attached feels correct given his past. He may also feel like he's trapped between what he knows and what remains to come to the surface. A creator.

What They Are In Need Of

Starfish; they need to realize what they want and put aside what others expect from them. They need positive friends and realize their inner beauty. They may feel empty when out of balance

The Vibe of the Relationship

Btw, when (not just if) you got any suggestions, comments or criticism to share, I am welcoming such big time because I am getting closer and closer to some first milestone to reach some MVP shareware demos and I appreciate feedback so much. Mostly because it is not just a world for myself as far as I am aware, it is one I share with the rest of you (the current worldly context is not that horrendous all things considered but I don't trust quality change to occur by itself without some additional incentives... hence why I share it to serve as a refeuge and a sampler of what we could do better) and also manifest at least bits of it somewhat.

More Batfam goodies

For anyone who missed it in my last Batfam list Tim has a Sphinx cat named Meatloaf now

Meatloaf has her own set of shenanigans but one time she gained the ability to talk because of loose magjc

The first thing she said was "Wheres my favorite human?" And imediatly squealed when she saw Tim

Talking Meatloaf lasts for a good several months in which she acts as an animal to human translator and happily keeps telling Tim she loves him

Tim cries everytime

After she loses this ability Tim starts working on a proper translator device for her to tuck into her sweaters

Its still experimental but it reliably translates, Love you, and Sleep now.

Tim bemoans the fact Dick taught Meatloaf about Sleep issues cause she DOES lay on his computer or Knocks his coffee to the floor if she thinks he needs sleep

Tim found it when a Librarian tried to make him take a break and offered an easy read, he Loves Windclan. Steph and Cass read together, as Stephanie had read the first one as a small kid. Barbara read the Entire wiki for it first. Duke was just that kid who insisted on being called by a warrior name in middle school. It was Shadeclaw and he stands by his name. Damien started cause it had cats and stayed for the Bloodshed. Also has a Warrior name granted by Duke, Sharppaw.

Who has kept up with the Warriors series: Everyone

Look they all needed up hooked and haven't Stopped

They all have fave clans and characters and Duke, Jason and Damien got together to name Everyone and assign a few roles. They are the Panel

Duke is Shadeclaw still. The panel agrees the name rocks, he is Leader of "BatClan"

Jason is Doveslash. He approves (more on Jason and Doves/pigeons later) Jason asked to be Medicine cat as they were always his faves

Damian is Sharppaw, but it was agreed they would pick his warrior name early, Sharpheart is the Panel deputy. Duke chose the Sharp prefix so Jason chose the suffix. Damien will never admit he loves it (he draws the three of them as cats a Lot)

Bruce is Batpelt

Dick is Wingleap

Barbara is Sparktalon

Tim is Redtip

Cass is Ravenpool

Stephanie is Bubbletooth

And Alfred is Mountaintail

Yes they have a fake clan and Duke leads hush

Also Bruce finds out about the warrior name assignments and makes them Codenames

Everyone is but they all gang up on Damian since he is still figuring out how to assert what he wants and express himself

It also leads to the Infamous Halloween incident

See Damian wanted to go as A Cat from the Warrior series. Specifically his favorite Sandstorm.

But they had to go to a Halloween Gala and wear costumes for it and he worried it would be wrong to do so

He mentioned this when Alfred caught Damian scraping his half made costume

So Alfred brought out the Big guns

And by big guns I mean sewing Machine

Alfred not only Salvaged and finished Damian's costume of Sandstorm but made matching costumes for everyone else of their favorite Warriors characters

The day before Halloween

Like a Boss

He even made his own costume of Purdy which he wore all day

It got a huge grim on Damian's face and everyone was ecstatic to be their faves

Damian's costume was Sandstorm

Bruce was Greystripe

Dick was Squirrelflight

Jason was Leafpool

Cass was Tawnypelt

Stephanie was Tallstar

Barbara was Yellowfang

Duke was Firestar

And Tim....

So Tim started the incident at the Gala

See his faves are both Jayfeather and Flametail

He helped Alfred make the costumes and when he found out Jason also Had several favorites he had to know who

Tim discovered from a tired Alfred it was Mothwing, Leafpool, and Jayfeather

So Tim HAD to be Jayfeather

Then at the Gala Jason figured out why Tim was Jayfeather and not Flametail, Jason thought Tims favorite was Flametail

So Jason decided to mess with Tim, and started Mothering him insessently

And entirely in character as Leafpool

And Tim realized this and decided this would be more fun than dealing with asshole rich people

And Tim role-played Jayfeather

And it Spread to the rest of the family until they were legit playing Warriors at a Gala

Most fun ANY of them had at a Gala

They even got Bruce in on it!

It was a blast and it left the Rich end of Gotham scared and confused when Damian jumped onto a Table with Stephanie and declared that "I am now Sandstar! Fall before me Fireheart!" And tackled Duke to the ground

No more Role-playing at Galas sadly

On that note Duke once found some Herbs mentioned in the books and decided to test Jason

He grabbed some Various herbs from the books and slapped them in front of Jason

Stating that if he was a Real Medicine Cat fan he'd be able to name these herbs and their uses in the books

Duke wanted to see Jason get flustered but instead Jason named each one, their Use AND corrected Duke on his Herb identification and pointed out the Herb he thought was Cat Mint was actually Borage.

This has only spurred Duke on and he keeps randomly shoving Herbs in front of Jason to name

Jason finds it funny

Also Tim has one of those Jayfeather Plushies for Meatloaf

Meatloaf also has a Warrior name decided by The Panel

Its Sweetspark and its Tim approved

Ok, I'm going to use this question to answer a few of the Ladies related questions I got. Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback on that theory, I really appreciated it!

Starting with you, anon.

1) About Scarecrow

You know, after making a full analysis on the Ladies and getting a good look at each one of their rooms, both in the Residence and in the Nest, I think I agree.

The question now would be, who was she pushing away?

An obvious answer would be (her) Mono. As I previously established: a Lady of the Maw cannot exist unless a Thin Man creates her and a Thin Man cannot exist unless he's betrayed by said Lady. Maybe she regrets leaving him to his fate? The Eye paintings are quite prominent in her section.

Or, this could be referring to the other girl.

I theorized that Scarecrow may have had a sister who ruled the Maw alongside her. Not only that, it might have been one of the others as well.

The candidates to fit this role would be Tengu and Teapot. I lean more on the latter.

Tengu is tecnically the second in line, following the order we previously reconstructed, yet I also mentioned that she and Scarecrow may have been interchangable because you can choose to retrieve them in either order. They're the only ones to which this rule applies; Fox will always be first and Teapot will always be last. Plus, Scarecrow's pedestal is taller than Tengu's, effectively making her the second.

Another thing I think is worth mentioning is that, in the way to reach Teapot, we have to pass over the two armchairs. Reminiscent of when Teapot had to sneak past the sisters, perhaps?

Then, when we do get Teapot, to leave the room we have to once again sneak past Tengu (albeit it's her false persona).

Lastly, I wanted to mention that Red and Blue have always been opposites. It would make sense for Scarecrow to dislike Tengu, especially considering how drastically different they behave. For example, while Scarecrow prefers to hide away from the monsters and ignore them, Tengu actively engages with them and pretends to be a monster herself. I could easily see the Lady in Blue be either disgusted or irritated by this way of handling things.

On the other hand, we have our other candidate, Teapot. I do believe it's less likely, but pictures of one of the girls in the paintings (the one with long braided hair) are seen in her area.

Of course, it's also possible that Scarecrow's possible sister is not one of the other Ladies and was someone else entirely.

This lowkey got me thinking though.

If the "Lady & Thin Man coexistence theory" (yes we're naming it lads), is true, then this means that, if there were two Ladies governing the Maw at the same time, then the number of Thin Men wouldn't line up... because one Mono accompanied two Ladies. Consequentially, our Mono would be the fifth Thin Man and not the sixth, and the number 6 on the Thin Man's door was indeed referring to the number of Ladies.

Now I can't help but wonder how such an event would go down. My guess would be that the Thin Man of the time only took one of the girls (maybe only one of them was wearing the yellow raincoat?), awakening her Hunger which would then lead her to become the Lady while her sister helplessly watches and follows.

Mh. I have to think this one through. The concept is really interesting though.

2) About Fox (and Six)

" You know given how Fox mask Lady was able to have children be comfortable in her presence and how she likely died a gruesome death, maybe she was the type to continue on being kind and caring despite what she experienced as a kid and becoming the Lady of Maw? Her horrible death is definitely her being punished for still being kind since the world of little nightmares is where kindness will make you suffer and guarantee certain death. " - anon

I do think she met her demise as a consequence of her gentle nature. But in her defense; if the order is correct, then she was the first Lady ever. Maybe she wasn't aware of the cycle/loop. I'm pretty sure she died at the hands of her successor after trying to offer her kindness and shelter.

(Another thing to think about: the rip on her statue kind of looks like a bite.)

People who try to be kind always get the worst possible outcomes in the Little Nightmares universe. Once again, that famous achievement expresses the core belief behind this world: "Kindness will be your undoing!"

And talking about achievements... the other day I was on the wiki reading the achievement list - as one does - and something caught my eye.

Little fox.

In the achievements, Six is referred as a couple of small animals that relate to her in some way. For example, she's called a "little canary" or a "sneaky rat". Both connections are obvious: the canary is a bird with bright yellow feathers and rats are considered vermins - which is how Six is seen by the monsters.

This only draws more paralleles between Six and Fox, who have been stated to be quite similar in many ways.

3) Additional Color White Meaning - Teapot

That is absolutely correct! Then again, this begs the question: who or what could the Lady in White be mourning?

Again, maybe (her) Mono? Or perhaps she's mourning her own lost freedom?

Out of all the Ladies, current one included, Teapot really seems to be the most depressed about the whole situation. It's really heartbreaking considering how her coding made her out to be an innocent, pure hearted, happy go lucky soul.

4) About Scarecrow's and Teapot's masks.

So, personally I do think they kept wearing their masks, even if they're a little peculiar.

You have to keep in mind that people wearing masks is kind of the whole "brand" of the Maw.

When Six gets there every single employee and even some of the guests are wearing masks, with the only exception being the Granny. Then again, the Granny is a contractor, not an employee. She kinda does what she wants and no one can really stop her, which is really funny in my eyes.

Plus, Scarecrow is not the only one we see wearing a sack on her head. We have the Hunter as well! So I wouldn't say it's that uncommon.

Teapot's choice of mask is way more goofy, bc let's be honest. An extremely powerful force of darkness going around with a teapot on her head? But then again, it lines up with her innocent nature.

It's a stark contrast with the current Lady, who is so refined and came right after Teapot.

5) Lady Six design? An headcanon, I guess!

I actually may have to correct you on one thing before we go though: if the girl in this portrait in the Lady's quarters is infact a younger Lady, then it's safe to assume all Ladies before her wore a yellow raincoat as well.

Perhaps that's their signature clothing, like Mono's paper bag. Paperbag and yellow raincoat, always together.

Moving on!

Yes, I do agree on Six's kimono being yellow. A darker shade of the Lemon color - like how the Lady's kimono was a darker shade of Tangerine - would be PERFECT. Lemon is usually associated with Awareness, Enlightenment and Alertness, which I think would fit Lady Six. She finally realizes how things work in this world and how she was just a pawn into the Eye's plan all along.

As for the mask, I actually thought about it for a while. I don't think it would be the same as the Lady's, because they're really different from each other, but I still think it would have something to do with Noh masks.

Personally, I settled on the Ja mask. It's badass and scary, something I think Six would definetely wear.

(Btw, I tried searching for what Noh mask could be associated with the Lady's. I found several, but the Fushikizō may be the best candidate.)

6) Same person from different dimentions?

" Random thought but what if the ladies and Six actually exist similar to the movie "Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse", where they are actually a different version of The Lady brought into Mono's dimension to continue the cycle? Some of the masks seem to hint the presence of other worlds, AND Six's connections to previous mask owners. Six herself is also hinted to be from a different world as well, as she is labelled to be "awaking in a world she cannot recognize" " - massive brain anon

OK BUT THIS ACTUALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE???

And this actually explains why Mono and the Thin Man would be drawn to her! It's still his friend, but a different version of her! Especially after we've established how the human children are all lured from other dimensions in the LN universe... Wow. Good thinking, anon. This way, the selection of the next Lady is not casual and actually makes sense all things considered.

(I'm sorry, anon, currently it's on hiatus cause I'm working on a holiday gift exchange present and waiting on my commission from my sister for the next chapter, but I have written some of the next chapter!)

Here's a new addition to the hunter au! With extra characters because I need to remember that Peter is technically a threat to Aro and his clan.

Summery: Peter is used to running into Aro, but running into some of his little 'friends' is worse.

Warning: Alec and Jane attempting to use their powers, injury (a broken wrist), the author not caring enough to look into watching clips of the twins and is instead relying on the wiki and what little he saw in reviews about the movies so is probably wrong on how they're written but who cares (I watched the movies once, ignored everything except Aro, I know what I'm about)

On with the fic!

It had been a trap, that much was clear.

Peter had followed a lead to a new nest, there was always a new nest popping up in the Vegas area, so many victims, so many ways to try to get away with your crimes, and it seemed so routine. He should have done a better job with his research, he should have double-checked everything before setting out!

He was smarter than this, but he had been letting his guard down, just a little, since Aro started showing up more and more in his life.

And here he was now, looking at a few bodies, clearly drained of their blood, with two figures watching him, dressed to the nines in the uniform of the Volturi.

A girl and a boy, twins from what Peter could tell, who were more emotionless than the statues they shared their skin with. Their bright, crimson eyes were looking at him, and the girl's lip curled up into a cruel smile.

"So," she started, "the famous Peter Vincent. What a pity, you're nothing like what Aro was making you out to be. We made it so obvious that this was a way to lure you in."

"Some infamous hunter, I don't understand why Aro is wasting his time with this human." The boy frowned.

"Because Aro cannot affect him, but then again, I'm sure it's just Aro, no one else wants to try their luck."

Peter watched them carefully, reaching for the metal stake at his side, but in the next second, he was slammed to the ground, crying out in pain. His arm was twisted around his back, a knee pressed into his spine, it hurt!

He snarled, looking up at the boy, who still didn't look amused at him. "Again, a pity. Shall we see if he really is worth our time to even convert to our side, Jane?"

"We could just knock him out, deliver him on a silver platter to the others, Alec." The girl, Jane, spoke as she walked over, standing a few feet away. Peter hated how calm and collected she sounded, like this was just a normal thing for her.

Hm, maybe it was.

Fuck, Peter knew their names, he had done research into the Volturi, especially since Aro invaded his life. Jane and Alec, he knew those names, but what did they do? They were... the Volturi's guards, right? Two of the most sadistic, even by vampire standards, they took pleasure in what they did, he was sure of it.

...

Oh fuck, he knew who they were, and they were bad news!

He tried to get out of the hold, but the grip on his arm just tightened, making Peter hiss in pain. There was a silent threat, Alec would break his arm if he continued to try.

Jane watched with a glee that felt so cold. "Well then, shall we play with Aro's new toy?"

"Do you want to go first?" Her brother asked, still keeping Peter pinned.

"Yes, yes I do." She looked down at Peter, who stared back up at her, and her smile was cruel. "Pain."

He tensed up, and yet... nothing. He felt nothing other than the cold ground under him, and the annoying vampire child on his back. Jane frowned, sneering. "Pain." She said, again, but with more into it.

Again, he felt nothing new.

There was a small laugh. "It seems that Aro was correct, this human really isn't affected by vampire powers." Alec spoke and Jane's attention went to him.

"Do you still wish to try your powers? Or are you just going to assume yours won't do him damage either?"

"Hey, would be cool if you didn't talk about me like I not here." Peter said, though was clearly ignored.

Alec was quiet for a moment, but Peter saw something surround him, a strange, black mist. He felt it touch him, cold, but that's all it was. Just a cold, black mist, like being around a fog machine.

"I don't believe it's working." Jane commented and Peter felt a horrible pain where Alec's hand was, a crack was heard, and he cried out from it.

Did... did he just break his wrist?!

Alec removed himself and Peter curled up, clutching his arm, holy shit, holy shit! It hurt so much! The vampire tisked, turning to his sister. "Is that is? His immunity? What good would that do the Volturi if we bothered to convert him?"

"Oh, it would do wonders."

The two turned, and Peter looked up, to see a very familiar vampire, sitting in an old chair, left forgotten in this abandoned place. He looked rather pleased, but even from this angle, even through the pain, Peter could tell Aro was furious.

The twins were tense, watching as Aro stood up, dusting himself off, before making his way over with a calm he shouldn't have. "I see you two decided to come find my hunter, even though I gave you strict orders not to do so without me."

"You... you were taking so long to bring him to our side." Jane spoke, clearly the more outspoken of the two. "We wanted to see if he was worth all this effort."

"He is." Aro replied, his tone clipped, sharp. "It is very easy to bring others to our little family, children, but some need coursing, they need time. Peter is an example of that, and your little stunt today had probably ruined all of my effort."

Alec was suddenly sent flying, slamming into a wall. "Let that be a warning, Alec." Aro spoke, his voice was like ice, it made Peter shudder in fear.

The hunter watched as Alec struggled to get up, looking pissed, but knowing his place. He might be a dangerous killer, but he was still a child, and he knew who was the authority here. Jane seemed to know this to as she moved to stand by her brother.

Aro ordered something at them, speaking in Italian, probably so Peter wouldn't understand. The twins nodded, making their departure from the room, leaving Peter alone with Aro. The clan leader looked tense still, the anger still burning in him, before kneeling down, helping Peter to his feet.

"I am truly sorry about those two, they're some of my best, but they like to do things their own way." Aro sighed as he gently took Peter's arm, looking at it. "He did break it, best to get you to a healer."

"A hospital." Peter corrected.

"A doctor is a healer, so we are both right." Aro smiled at him.

Peter glared at him before shaking his head. "How much of that did you see?"

"Just enough, I saw them attempt to use their powers on you, yet it had not effect, as my own does not. You really are immune to us, even to our strongest."

"Just lucky, I guess." Peter grumbled, his wrist hurt so much, his back probably had a nasty bruise on it too. "Fuck, I just wanna go to bed..."

"Perhaps..." Aro started, "it would be wise if I came with you tonight, just in case. Alec and Jane do not like being told off, they might try to get to you again. You know how children are."

Peter wanted to tell him off, tell him that he'd never let a vampire into his home, but right now he just wanted to lie down. Aro didn't do anything other than patch Peter up and keep an eye on him btw, he's a gentleman, even if he's also a cold-hearted murderer with no remorse for his actions towards humanity. Peter is a special case, he actually likes him.
