I know the vessels don’t glow but what if Hollow had like a very faint luminescence on their shell or just around them? Not enough to be noticeable even in a dim room but noticeable in the pitch black, and it’s really only there as long as they have soul in their reservoir

There is no shame in an honest day’s work.  No reason to lower your eyes and refuse to answer when someone asked you what you did for a living; no reason to feel like wiping a counter or turning a wrench made you somehow lesser, made you somehow inferior.  Len knows all who labor, whatever color their collar happens to be, and he loves them all with equal grace.  White collar, blue collar, the occasional butcher or surgeon who considers themselves blurred all the way into red collar, they are all his children.

He also loves those who aspire to leave his grace, the artists and authors who dream of making their muse their master, riding their passion all the way to plenty; the ones who dream with genuine delight of the day they can marry and retire, staying home to raise a family, doing the hard work of education and nurturing while someone else serves in Len’s temples.  He loves them knowing they want nothing more than to leave him behind, one more forgotten god on a life path littered with unneeded theologies and thrown-aside prayers.

He has room for them all, and he knows there will always be another, because there is always work to be done, and always hands to do it.  He would prefer that all who work beneath his banner be there of their own free will.  He knows that isn’t the case, and those are the only prayers that he regrets.  The compelled.  The captive.  The nonconsensual.  He cannot free them from his temples, must depend on human hands to untie the knots and undo the locks, but he can hope for them, and he can answer them as kindly as his nature allows.

Len loves the workers.  Len loves the union man.  And Len loves an unvoided warranty.  Take care of what you own, Len begs, or be without.

Len loves you, too.

I’m actually in disagreement with this sentiment. I wouldn’t feel very comfortable if someone voided a design I made specifically for a species without permission. If it’s a character that YOU designed, then sure. But if we’re talking about adopts, then that’s a different story. It’s honestly about respecting the original artist’s wishes and comfort level. The sirfluff situation with chams seemed more like heavy entitlement on their end, and they kept pestering several different mods until someone said ‘yes’ because they didn’t want any trouble (but it happened anyway when fluff made a huge stink about it).

Anyway if you can’t void a Terra, just simply make a one-off version of it. I’ve done that with designs I can’t void with no issue. I just don’t use the official /CS design itself.

like, with adopts and things it really is more of a product transaction than a piece in an art gallery. if someone owns the character by paying for it, it should be fully theirs.

going back to the mug analogy since its a more tangible and easy to comprehend form of art, if i made a beautiful ceramic mug that was part of a larger “series” of similar mugs that all share the same theme, and sold one of them to someone, that person now can do whatever they want with it. they could smash it in front of me and i cant do anything about it because its not mine anymore. yeah, it might break my heart to see this thing i worked hard on be removed from the collection of other mugs, but thats the price you have to pay when you sell art in this way.

i think that you as the creator should still be able to use the “unvoided” design to showcase your design examples (unless you and the new owner have an agreement to keep it private but thats neither here nor there), but as for the actual design they can do what they want. again, with the mug thing, you should be able to have like a picture of the mug you created to use in your portfolio of beautiful handcrafted mugs, but the buyer still owns the mug they bought.

i feel like if you cant completely disconnect yourself from what a new buyer may use your design for, then you shouldnt be making adopts, which is ok, but a lot of people dont want to have that realization within themself that even though their art can be personal and they can be attached to it, when you sell a design as a product to someone else you have to accept that you have no say over it anymore.

The History of Arda (Very serious)

Part 1 (peyak)

1st - Eru Ilùvatar, Le Grand Papa, was.

But it was just him, so he decided to start a band. He created a bunch of little guys (Ainur) to be on vocals. Acapella band, very avant gard.

Eru Ilùvatar played dolls with them and decided that some were siblings even though he created them all at, presumably, the same time. This was entirely vibes based family planning.

Imagine all these little Ainur just singing their hearts out, but oh! What's this? One of them looks a little different?? Just, like, more beautiful and powerful than the others?

Well, that would be Melkor! He's the Lucifer coded one. And he's a curious little guy, he goes around the Timeless Halls, the Void, looking for something to do. Really, he wants to find the Imperishable Flame so he can create life and unvoid the Void. It's just a bit too Void for him, and I don't think that should be held agaisnt him.

Obviously, though, Eru Ilùvatar had it, but Melkor couldn't figure that out. And he's supposed to be the smartest Ainur, so that's out intelligence benchmark for these guys.

But rehearsals were over and it was show time! Eru Ilùvatar was conducting, everyone was doing their best, it was going great. Until Melkor decided to get jazzy with it and go off tempo.

Some of the other Ainur are into it, and suddenly there's a little noise rock sub band offshoot happening. Then, it's full on battle of the bands. Things are getting heated. Feelings are getting confused. Nobody knows how this is going to end.

It looks like Melkor's swaying the popular vote! But what's this?? Eru Ilùvatar with the complex composition that exposes Melkor as being not that great at music and really just loud???

And with that, the tides have turned! Eru Ilùvatar has pulled ahead! Adding salt to the foot that's kicking the downed man, he tells Melkor that because he is omniscient, even Melkor's music was part of his and there was no way he could have won. What a blow.

The afterparty was watching a music video Eru Ilùvatar had made for the winning song (his). Turns out, it was secretly also a workplace training video and it went over the creation of the universe, the world (Arda), and all living things in it.

He was especially proud of the Elves and Humans he'd thought of. And the Ainur were totally on board! They thought that these guys were just so cute and little. They couldn't wait to build them a fun enclosure where they could play with them and dress them up all fancy.

So a bunch of them decided they were actually gonna go and do the darn thing. And we must have hiérarchie; some of them were just better than the others.

The super cool ones were called the Valar, and the tinier ones the Maiar. For their crimes of being not as tall as the Valar, the Maiar were their servants (? Pay structure questionable).

Of course, Melkor went too. Can't have things going too well, you know?
