I saw this post by @fantasiawandering and went "oooh!", so I guess I've been tagged.

How many works do you have on AO3?

108, which is... far more than I thought it'd be, now that I actually check.

What's your total AO3 word count?

680,841. That's... well, according to what I've looked up, that's about 8.5 novels, so... whoa...

What fandoms do you write for?

Doctor Who, Transformers (G1 and some Beast Wars) and Jujutsu Kaisen. I've also briefly forayed into Batman, Final Fantasy VII, One Piece, Dinosaur King and Zombies, Run!

You don't want to know how many unposted fandoms I'm in, trust me.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

The first five installments of my Doctor Who S05 AU, After the Time War.

The premise goes as follows:

In one universe, the Doctor regenerated after sending Gallifrey into the Time War, and the Master along with it. In this one, the Doctor didn't regenerate... And the Master didn't get stuck in the Time War. ... Amy Pond still has to deal with a crazy alien, though. Or the one where the Doctor dies and the Master has to figure out who he is without the noise in his head or a friend by his side.

Each fic covers an 'episode' of Season 05, except for the first one, which covers the last part of The End of Time.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Most of the time. I would love to say always, but I sometimes leave the comments sitting for one reason or another, and by the time I get to it... Well, it doesn't feel right answering after who knows how many months it's been, though I'm trying to fix that.

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I hesitate to name anything from the After the Time War series, because even the angstiest one has something that tells you it'll get better. Maybe some first parts of two-parters were angsty, but I wouldn't call them the angstiest. There's a few Transformers prompt fics that have dark or sad endings too, but again, not that angsty in my opinion.

I'll have to go with an oldie, surprised as I am to admit it. Somewhere Only We Know, a Transformers one-shot set in the far far future of the G1 iteration, exploring Starscream's fate after Cybertron's death.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I have a few, but I'll have to go with, ironically enough, Lost Innocence. Despite the title, it's the most wholesome. It's a Final Fantasy VII post-Dirge of Cerberus 'slice of life' oneshot focused on the Turks and AVALANCHE.

Do you get hate on fics?

I don't remember ever getting any. Perhaps a few unkind/too blunt comments, but not hate, and definitely not on Ao3.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope. I do have some romantic pairings and relationships, but I tend to 'fade to black' if things seem like they are going to turn down that road, so people can take it whatever way they please.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have some between related fandoms, like Doctor Who and its spin-offs or different iterations of the Transformers franchise, but they could hardly be considered crossovers. The one that is not and which is the craziest by premise alone is City of Nightmares. It's a Batman/Miraculous Ladybug crossover of sorts, a oneshot that combines both worlds.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think I have. Could be, but if so, I'm not aware of it.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Someone asked me for it once, on a different platform, but I'm not sure it ever came to be.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, though I've tried some co-writing in real life and it's hard.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Season 7 Amy and Rory, from Doctor Who, could be one. Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, from Helluva Boss, are another one. And I can't come up with any others right now :P

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Big projects like After the Time War, in which I change something about a story (characters, premise, lore...) and then rewrite the story around that. I'll probably never do something as big as I'm currently doing, but I experimented with different ways of doing that in Devils' Fruit, a One Piece premise-change that covers up to the Time Skip, so I'll have to see if I could do something similar with those unfinished WIPs.

What are your writing strengths?

The ability to let the characters steal the show. I may have a plan about how a chapter/fic will go, but when I start writing, the characters say or do unexpected things and I follow them to its conclusion, even if it completely ignores my original plans. It can be a headache, but I like the results. They feel more 'organic'.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Discipline, or rather lack thereof. I write when I feel like it, but I have a bajillion fics at the same time, and when a new idea pops into my head, I have to try really hard not to allow it to take over. Usually, I do that by outlining it and then letting it go, which takes some time but nowhere as much as it would've otherwise.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't usually do it, because I don't want to botcher it, but when I must... I know a few languages, so I'm comfortable if it's in those languages. When it isn't, I try to avoid it, taking a "they started spouting gibberish" approach. And when I absolutely cannot avoid it, I tend to turn to online translators and be open to corrections.

First fandom you wrote for?

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, though it was very briefly and on a different site. The first 'serious' fandom was the Transformers franchise, with a brief foray into the Bay-verse and a more permanent one with the Generation 1 cartoons.

Favorite fic you've ever written?

Am I the only one that thinks that's a low blow? How can I choose? I guess I could say one of the newer ones, because I'm more experienced with life and writing and whatnot, but my first ones were the ones that gave me that boost to post, even if they're rough.

It's not on Ao3 because it's an old fic (2014-2018) and I would like to polish it a bit before posting it there, so it remains on FF.net exclusively. It's called Half the Truth, and it's a Transformers G1 fic about Spike figuring out some truths of Cybertronian culture and the fallout of those. It was the first fic that made me think hard about things, instead of it being just a story.

Here's an oldie that I forgot existed until this week and am now vaguely obsessed with. Where was I going with this? Was there a plot? I don't remember.

It hit Keith in the chest – too close to home after the thoughts that had been rushing through his head at dinner. “What would be the point?” he said before he could stop himself, a little too honest as the words seem forced out of him by the sudden weight on his chest.

Something heavy and entirely too knowing settled in Lance's eyes for a moment before it was pushed away. “So you're saying I'm your reason for living? The light of your life? The cream in your coffee, the whipped cream on your waffle-”

Oh, god, he loved this idiot so much. “I take it back,” Keith said.

Oof it's been a solid week since I posted on here! 😱 End of quarter finals work has been so intense. I think it feels even more intense than usual because of all of the internship prep I've been doing. I spent ages perfecting my resume, writing draft after draft of cover letters, sending out emails and applications, preparing for interviews. It's been a lot! And it's the sort of work that I really hate doing because of my social anxiety. 😓 But I'm getting better at it each time. I've had some great luck recently with internship stuff (I'll update you once things are for sure 😉) so I'm feeling a lot of relief now. I'm also feeling relief because I got two major projects turned in, did my mock play therapy session with a friend's 4 year old babe (thank you Jake and Mel!) and now I've only got the one paper left in terms of actual work. It's going to be a long weekend of classes, and then I'll be ~freeee~ (other than more interviews 😅). I can't wait to dive into decorating my next Avec 😂... When I get stressed I turn to planner prep. 🙃

P.S. I know these are weekly spreads from March, but I haven't had time to take new photos. 😭 So unposted oldies it is.

12. favorite character to write about this year

i have actually written… an unusually large amount of different characters this year!! including unposted wips, i wrote a lot more than i have before (in terms of word count) AND got into a couple new fandoms, so

choices.

fave character i have to say is lotor. i’ve only posted one complete fic with a focus on him this year (but the greatest of these), but that one fic was huge for me in terms of figuring out who he is, at least in my head, and what i really really want to explore about him in the future.

not enough ppl talk about how he’s 10,000 years old. he lived the entire length of rift!zarkon’s empire. (we should really talk more about that.)

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

OH BOY, DID I READ A LOT OF FIC.

idk if there’s one i can recommend that everyone read bc… not everyone who’s reading this are in the same fandoms or into the same things as me ahgdfdj.

if you’re into mcu thor & loki, you should read bargaining by proantagonist. it’s a fandom classic from what i understand but also an oldie, so if you haven’t heard of it well :) it’s a fantastic piece of work about loki, culpability, and self-destruction, with neato unreliable narration worked into the whole thing. and it makes me emo. i cry every time i read it.

if you’re into lotura, you should read finding home by tsvaling, a human business vld lotura au. it’s in progress but currently has a fantastic word count of almost 50k, so there’s plenty of tasty childhood friends to enemies to frienemies to lovers setup to enjoy. it’s also well-written as heck and contains very fun dynamics with the rest of the main show cast so! please read it!

if you’re into original fantasy novels, you should read the broken earth trilogy by n.k. jemisin. it’s a fantastically created series (by a black woman!) about the consequences of oppression, exploitation, and a really cool magic system on an earth-like planet thousands and thousands of years after the apocalypse has come and gone—and then come again, and again, and again. if second-person pov gives you a headache, then maybe don’t read this series as much of it is in second person, but pov is used very creatively in this series and is prob one of my fave technical things about it.

2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one? 

HOKAY. My main places i’ve dug into are fire emblem, owari no seraph, and recently promare (promare is nuts, ive got like 40k of unposted words ready to go soon). I’ve also written for no. 6, tokyo ghoul, and guardians of ga’hoole. Weird combo of stuff, I know.

9) In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?

OKAY SO since this was essentially written in one session and I really like pretty much all of it, I had a hard time narrowing it down (Biar watching her dragon-shaped doom claw his way onto the deck was a close second)

“Gh.” Lio wheezed. “Ugh. Yeah. It’s just- we’re… they’re stuck. The Promare, there’s too many and now they’re trapped.”

“Wait.” Galo interjected. “They’re still in you?”

Something behind Lio’s eyes brightened, and the still-new spark in Galo’s chest twitched towards Lio. “We ∆re still here.”

:M∆ny (one) fires, m∆ny (one) bodies, m∆ny (one) souls:

As one, Galo, Gueira, and Meis winced at the simultaneous words from Lio’s mouth and the thoughts from all their fire.

“Dude, that is still so freaky.” Galo grumbled.

“No shit.” Gueira echoed from beside him, forgetting their awkward meeting in the face of something so otherworldly and strange.

“Hold on a second.” Aina said from where she had been looking distinctly ponderous. “How do you know about the Promare?”

Still woozy, Lio simply pointed at Galo. “Lifted it from him.”

Galo shivered, gooseflesh rising on skin that could no longer feel the faint chill. “Hey wait a second, did you basically look through my brain’s google search history?!”

“It’s not like I asked for it.” Lio griped back. Then he shivered, as black curled into claws at his fingertips and condensed dark fire crawled across his body.

This one is just fun. Ya got Gueira and Galo putting aside their previous encounters to agree that yeah that’s pretty fucking creepy, what with the whole ‘mutual possession with an alien hivemind’ thing and Lio’s words being overlapped by the weird mental communication. Plus Lio just. Skimming off the info on the promare from Galo completely by accident because Galo flared up by syncing with a promare still attached to Lio.

Disregarding fics that already have more parts in the works (Divine Right, Time Shall Not Sever, Scourge has a sequel wip but it’s not mine (obviously you know this lmao), theres WR, an oldie but goodie. I also really want to revisit the Telos ‘verse because i got a comment on it for the first time in a LONG time and also my friends in the same fandom are egging me on.

48) What’s your favourite trope to write?

SWEATS LOUDLY i have a lot of favorite tropes tbh. A couple that are in the same category would be Narrator’s Bias, Values Dissonance (with a side of cultuer clash), Blue and Orange Morality, Humans Through Alien Eyes, and anything to do with Xenopsychology.
