It's the last night of the festival and the riverfront stage is lit up with energy! Superstar idols Christoph and Nancy are back again for one final performance, though this time they are joined by the event host, Rosa Vail. Unova's Champion is decked out in full champion regalia and accompanied by a Meloetta in its Aria form. Before the performance starts, Rosa reaches for the mic.

"Good evening, everyone! Before we start our final performance, I wanted to thank each and every one of you for being here with us over the last few weeks. You have helped us turn this holiday season into something unforgettable and we look forward to you joining us again in the future. We hope you enjoy the performance and wish you safe travels when you finally depart!"

As if on cue, Meloetta bursts into a dulcet song and the trio of performers soon follow, singing and dancing their way through a short set list that energizes the crowd and makes the send-off feel surprisingly bittersweet. Even when the show is over, the pokémon's hauntingly beautiful melody won't leave your mind.

Thank you everyone for your participation and support for this year’s festival! With this post, the 3rd Annual Village Bridge Holiday Festival has officially come to a close! 

And now, for some quick remarks from your event organizers:

Emme / @unovasrose / @evoblue: Thank you everyone for giving this event a chance despite what tends to be a busy time during the holidays. The festival started as a small event that I ran on my own a few years ago and it's grown into so much more thanks to all the help and love from friends and the community alike. I am so so SO happy! This year has been the biggest and best so far and seeing everyone enjoying themselves truly made all the effort worth it. Lots of love and best wishes for the New Year! (And also shoutout to Psy for all the great ideas, beautiful art, and passionate work she put into this event, I couldn't have done it without her!)

Psyseon / @mirroredranger: This is the first time I've helped run an event like this. It has been a blast and I enjoyed watching everyone's reactions to the various events. Thank you everyone for joining in and making this last year end on a positive note. I also want to thank Emme so much for making this event happen. This is my favorite yearly dash event and I hope everyone else cherishes it dearly as well. Here's to 2024 and the community!

Rosa shows up to submit her first entries for the scavenger hunt, looking just a tad sheepish. For something small found at the market, she holds out a shiny ring of braided metal that she purchased from one of the artisans earlier. For something moist you would find in a kitchen, she has a damp rag that Delta is currently wearing around her head like a hachimaki. One could easily guess how it got damp in the first place.

And for something shiny that you would find at the playground (and the reason why she looks so sheepish....), Delta holds up a metallic playground slide with a victorious 'Zuuuuu!!!!' Rosa will have to reimburse the school playground for damages later.

Scavenger Hunt - Day 1 [ 3, 3, 3 ]

Sableye looks at the Metal Braided Ring and hesitates for a moment, even looking to Gatz for confirmation. Gatz shakes his head and Sableye nods. He gives Rosa a thumbs up. Then he looks to the Rag on Delta. Another nod and thumbs up, this is a no brainer. Then Sableye acts flustered over the slide and waves as if to say "You shouldn't have~" but amused by the effort and destruction.

"Rosa, you are very fortunate that the Mavericks consider you a friend. Leave it here, Morgan can weld it back later. We'll just blame Sableye." Sableye turns around to look at Gatz, playfully offended. "9 points, amigo."

Yup, that was the lights going out, poor Rosa is getting grabbed on the spot, muscle memory reaction, even if it's a protective grab. He can see fine. The dark was what he used to work in, but it was his companion's safety that made him act.

Hilbert snorted when he realized what was in the Squakabilly's claw. There didn't seem to be anyone around, but that didn't phase him. In fact...

as the league's doors opened, a grunt ( unmistakably of discomfort / even pain ) escaped hyu; his eyebrows knit together whilst eyes screwed shut & instinctively he reached forward, taking hold of rosa's sleeve.

temporarily blinded of his reflex & continued to be so by his own volition, he needs her to wait.

"i'm gonna guess you don't hate me and didn't know it was snowin' --" the joke is dry even for his humor, and as the doors slide closed behind them, a hand reaches for the zipper on his pack. he only needed to rummage for a moment before he felt his target, and slipped the sunglasses onto his face.

even behind the protective lenses, it took some time for him to relax his expression & grow accustomed to the brightness of fresh-fallen snow through his eyelids. it was only as his eyebrows were able to indicate his facial muscles' relaxation and lift (at last appearing above the rims of the glasses) that his eyes opened.

"i'm addin' this to the list of reasons i don't go out. much."

As Rosa predicted, Clover is coiled near the front window of their cozy Village Bridge home, soaking up a sunbeam while waiting for her trainer's brother to make his appearance.

Ever since he got pulled away at the gala, he's felt he sort of owed Rosa an...explanation, for everything going on with Blue. She was already getting ideas about what was going on after all but, he hadn't even had a prayer at actually explaining the history of everything to her; before the evening had swept him away.

Better late than never he supposes, he's in the area now so he might as well stop by. Feels better to talk in person with her than over the phone for a change, can't help but love the extreme distance between Johto and Unova.

He sees Clover in the window when he arrives, waving to the leafy snake before he goes to open the door.

"Been awhile Clover, I don't think I've seen you since everything with Rosa and Hilbert."

He unfortunately suspects comparisons ahead for the clownery, with his situation with Blue. Oh boy.

That may be the most adorable sight Lucas had ever seen. It was clear that what they were giving out was aimed at couples, though. It wasn't like he had a partner.

The sight did bring Hilbert and Rosa to mind, though. Maybe he should tell them about these two.

The festival is in full swing by the time that Rosa manages to make her way to the waterfront. Most people there recognize her, either as Champion or Pokéstar actress, evident in the way they part with hushed whispers to allow her to reach the stage.

The DJ is quick to stand up and pick up their mic, the bells on their sash jingling comically. "Folks, I'd like to introduce your lovely host, Unova Champion Rosa Vail!"

A clamor of applause follows, eliciting a giggle from the rosy-cheeked Champion as she accepts the microphone.

"Thank you for the warm greetings, everyone, and also thank you for the fantastic turnout for this year's festival! It's the Unova League's pleasure to welcome you all to our celebration to mark the end of another wonderful year. With the holidays almost upon us, we have a lot to be grateful for.

Despite all the curve balls that life might have thrown at you, try to focus on the good: family, friends, your pokémon, loved ones, and the many wonderful things in our lives that you might take for granted. If you choose to reflect back on your year, try to focus on the positives, on all the good that you've done, on all the powerful bonds you've created. We hope you can all end the year on a high note and that your time here at the festival only aids in achieving this goal.

With all that being said, I'll take this opportunity to wish you all Happy Holidays! I hope your time here at the festival will be one to remember!"

She draws in a breath, letting any worries roll off her shoulders as she gives Rosa's hand a squeeze back. The other is right, while this is unexpected they can manage the outbreak of pokemon. With several trainers ready to take action, this is a situation that can be quickly resolved.

"Of course, you can. I have Reshiram on me." Given the number of people present at the event, it had felt safe to withdraw the legendary to their pokeball. "Whatever you need, Rosa, just say the word and I'm there."
