Survived that brutal week!

I have six more assignments and a final exam left and my junior year of my BSN will be complete. I might write a reply or two but will be super slow until April 30th.

I’ll be jumping back into everything May 2nd and am looking forward to it.

One more activity update but it’ll be under the cut for medical tw

May 1st I am having a very minor medical procedure done on my hip and due to ptsd they’re planning to strongly medicate me for it. Because of this I plan to be AFK that day 💖 it’ll just be movies and sleeping.

"I wasn't, and honestly I didn't want to be Champion. My bond with Reshiram is enough responsibility towards the region. I didn't ask for it, but I've come to terms with the fact that from here it's up to me what actions I take. It belongs to Reshiram and me until someday I give it up or pass, and I'll keep finding ways to help others with it." It's a tether to Unova, and a unique burden that only one other person shares, but it's one she's now accepted. Working with the league when asked, it's enough for her too. She doesn't want or need a position within it. She may belong to Unova as one of the dragons' chosen, but she belongs independently.

"I know my experiences aren't unique, there's been too many other trainers in situations like mine and many others that understand." There's some comfort in not feeling alone, but at the same time, it's frustrating that so many young trainers have ended up with far too much responsibility on their shoulders, that it keeps happening.

She considers his words for a moment while taking another sip of her coffee. Perhaps the castle will never fully leave her, maybe to some degree she will carry it with her, and maybe that's alright. If she can stretch her legs and return, she can live with that.

"If I'm honest with myself, it's time I face it. I'm tired of feeling so idle, and I am tired of life or death experiences overshadowing just enjoying competitive battles." It's past time, she and her team are both ready for it, to truly return. Their talks have contributed to her realizing such. "I was wondering actually, if you'd be willing to help me train?"

Small treat finished, it's back to the coffee and letting the warmth soothe his hands in the cool evening.

Unova was a place that held a lot of mixed feeling in general. He wasn't as close with the League there- but he wasn't friendless and unaware of the problems that had gone on. Mathis Surge was his first friend, and ex-patriot. Grimsley as well shared a lot in common, both as a friend and business associate.

Clay he met at the Unova PWT around the time they were talking, and made a friendly acquaintance during that tenuous time.

Plasma and its predecessors had been a problem long before that. Unova didn't exactly have the same battle culture that they did, and Silph's global market didn't help the commodification that led to Ghetsis's climb to power.

"Well, you weren't ready, simple as that. It was smarter for you to abdicate while you could, even if you do miss it."

He sets his mug down again, "Like any injury, doing too much too soon can do more harm than good. Doesn't matter if the injury isn't as visible to anyone else."

Giovanni hums quietly, "But if you are feeling that ache- then, maybe it's time to stretch out and try again. With people that understand what you've gone through. And believe me, as tempting as it is to believe in your suffering to be truly unique- there's more people like you than you realize."

It's both a comfort, and not.

"You shouldn't let something like that keep you from what you want. If that castle still remains in your mind, you should keep fighting, face it, get stronger. It may not go away, but it'll get easier to face every time."

in the midst of just an absolutely brutal 72 hours for school. Exam day today, have to write an entire paper tomorrow, and ATI Exam prep for that exam on Monday (the scores for it are part of what they use to determine senior preceptor placement).

Sometimes I remember that on the day of everything at Plasma's castle, Hilda went through SEVEN intensive battles. All four of Unova's Elites, which at least were under league rulings and she had somewhat of a break between each one even if it was likely very short. BUT then Reshiram, N, and Ghetsis consecutively.

Tha is a LOT for one day.

World freezing plot... The mere thought of it makes her stomach twist. He'd managed to cause severe destruction to central Unova years ago, utilizing Kurem to achieve it. "He's managed to freeze a region before, but I agree this feels too easy." Was the man simply being sloppy, or was he trying to distract them from something bigger?

"I don't know, I'll take a look into this but we shouldn't let it distract us either. Whatever he's planning, I have a bad feeling about all of this. Do you know how long he's been active in Alola?" Ghetsis didn't seem to know when to stop in his quest for power it seemed. With all she's seen the man do, the destruction he's caused, it's nerve-wracking. Sh's not likely to have any additional takeaways from the recording, but the more hands they have on this the better.

"Ree is lucky to be alive, what happened to Guzma? is he alright?"

"Oh, I know who you are, don't worry. I'm Aiden and yeah, I'm a friend of Ree's. I did look into the flash drive and it has a recording of Ghetsis talking to someone about using this paradox pokemon for some world-freezing plot... He talked about it like it was the linchpin of his entire plan and that's what really doesn't make sense. If it was that important, there'd be no way he'd just let Ree walk out of there with it. And Ree never mentioned how they got this recording, but Ghetsis isn't sloppy enough to let something like this leak accidentally. I'm sure all of this was intentional on Ghetsis's part, but I don't know why."

Aiden knew all this had to be part of some larger scheme, but with only the limited evidence provided by this situation, he didn't have much insight as to what that could be.

"Hopefully Guzma's cooled down by now. He was understandably pretty upset. Ree might have gotten out of this unscathed, but he wasn't so lucky..."

My pain finally went down enough to get out of bed and spend time with my bf and a friend. Such a rough start but I feel so loved with so many people in my life both from here and locally wishing me happy birthday. Thank you guys <3

Reality of being chronically ill: I’ve spent all of my 25th birthday today in bed sleeping because of a sudden intense migraine.

"He was, Iris succeeded him." The mug is back in her hands, the taste and heat of the coffee soothing. "I abdicated it back to Alder knowing I'd be a former Champion only as a title, never acting. I wasn't in a place to handle that responsibility." She didn't want it, especially not on top of processing what her bond with Reshiram meant.

"About three years, maybe four." It's hazy, all memories of that time strained from her constant moving and the exhaustion that followed when she'd finally stopped.

He's right, she'd had the start of a promising career in competitive battling if she'd wanted it right in her hands. Completing the gym challenge so quickly, the position of Champion her's to claim, it was all there. "Because every time I considered it I couldn't shake the memory of the castle, of watching my Samurott take such a dire hit that was meant to kill me." Pieces of that day remained with her, and maybe they always would. "I do miss it, and I know my team does too. Sparing doesn't compare. We've continued training, but I know things would be different if I hadn't stopped."

"And Alder was the previous champion, if I remember correctly?"

Giovanni takes a bite of the cake to wash down with bitter coffee, contemplating Interpol's role with Hilda and Plasma.

"So, if they asked you to investigate the sages, that means their organization couldn't find a probable cause or was compromised from within. Or both."

It seemed like the league, in this case, was Hilda's only support.

"... So, they let you abdicate Champion after all that, and you stopped battling."

There had to be a good few years in between that moment and the Unovan-hosted PWT in Driftveil.

"How long was that?" he asks, curiously, taking another bite of the treat, "And why did you stop? From what I have seen and heard, you had a very promising outlook in battle, and were tried and tested to be the best. People like you, like Red, like me- don't just put aside passions."
