the moment I realized I officially was a burnt out gifted kid was when I had to retake a subject from my first year of uni and when I entered the class, one of my classmates (who was retaking the class too) looked surprised when he saw me and said "but I thought you were one of the smart ones" and I almost wanted to cry at the implications of what I've become

You are more then a number given to you by professors who have no idea what’s going on in your life, It’s okay to prioritize mental health over school. I always get so nervous about not citing “common knowledge” in research papers because I’m worried that it’s not actually common knowledge even though the same fact appears uncited in multiple sources I’m reading. Like what if I’m plagiarising somehow!!

*walks out sweating, panting, covered in blood.* you should see the other guy *there is not other guy. i procrastinated a simple essay that took two hours of focused writing until the last hour even though i had a week to do it. it wasn't even hard. it was so easy. half of the essay was my class notes. no critical thought. somehow had the best conclusion ive ever pulled out my ass. this is the first of many essays of the semester.*

Kinda annoyed with 85% on an essay I poured my heart into but I suppose it wasn't comparative enough for a higher mark and my professor says it's articulate and my passion shines through and he still really liked it even tho he couldn't give me a higher grade
