#twinganes as in shiro and ryou his clone not actual twinganes

twinganes thought of the day :
i like the headcanon of shiro’s face scar resulting from an injury and actually having daily impacts, and not just being a visual trait without grouding in the reality/physicality of the story. Making him snore when he didn’t before, difficulty breathing through the nose, habits changed so that breathing through his mouth is now the defaut, and how he feels when he can’t.
and now thinking of ryou and how his body is a copy of shiro’s, but not necessarily on all the details (ex : general hc that he doesn’t have the body scars shiro has, since we saw him wearing short-sleeved shirt), and that he could have the face scar but no anatomy modification because no actual injury.
does his implanted memories take the wheel and he follows shiro’s habits, does he explore his body once he knows he is ryou and is settled enough to take this time, does he want to do the discovery ? does he realizes here and there while living around shiro and being confronted to how the differences impacts him. Is he glad, in some ways, to have other ways to be not-shiro ? most important, does he meme “i’m built different”

Idea for Trigane/Twinganes AU. Jiro/Kuron often likes to joke that Shiro is the 'prototype', Ryou is the 'test type' and he's the 'production model'.
ahahaha they would TOTALLY do this too xD
Usually it’s Shiro calling Ryou his “biological clone” and Jiro his “artificial twin” to harass both his brothers—
(and to make Jiro feel better—New Timestream, Old Angst. Timetravel’s Weird so all Jiro’s old relationships are kinda gone and will This Shiro be okay with him??)
—buuuut once Jiro’s comfortable in his own skin again? YOU BET he’d become insufferable with his own brand of clone humor xD
-
...also Ryou just belts out Protoman’s Theme whenever Jiro does it. Mostly to beat Shiro to the punch.
Ryou: “Shiro, you may be the older twin but out of the two of us, you’re totally the Megaman.”
Shiro: “...hEY—!!! ...actually? I’ve got nuthin’.”
Ryou: “tOLD yA sO, Taka!!”
Jiro: “...why are you both like this.”
Shiro&Ryou: “It’s genetic.”
Jiro: “...lovely. (also never do that again.)”
S&R: “cOMe pLAY wITH uS, Jiro!!”
Jiro: “...NO.”

Since we're kinda on the subject, what differences do you imagine there being between Shallura and Ryoumelle? At least in your version?
This was sent before the clone theory was even a possibility, so I’ll answer with my before version and after.
Before the clone theory?
Shallura is sloooow buuuuuurn. They “can’t get involved with each other” because of Their Duties™. But they love each other deeply and it’s a beautiful euphoria when they finally get together. Shallura is the classic romance. (There’s obviously more but I think my whole blog speaks for itself lol)
Ryoumelle actually don’t hit off with huge mutual attraction, but they are both pleasantly curious of each other. She likes watching him work and he likes how proper she holds herself and how eager she is to learn about him. They like to tease their relatives but are good friends. Ryoumelle just kinda happens because, hey, you’re pretty cool and I wouldn’t mind kissing you.
After the clone theory? Aka angst
Shallura is the same, but still shaken by the whole clone ordeal. She’s still surprised Shiro offered to give him a chance, after being replaced like that. But he wanted a brother, family. And because Kuron has his memories, he knew of the name Takashi had in mind, and was thus named Ryou.
She feels guilty for not admitting to herself that the Shiro they found wasn’t her the real Shiro, but some part of her could tell something was off. Takashi was blessedly understanding of this. The Galra wouldn’t half-ass such a plan and make a clearly fake clone. Takashi’s eyes are warmer and softer when he looks at her. KurRyou was close but not enough.
Kuron, now Ryou, is still…coming to terms with the fact that he was a fake. It’s not easy, it eats at him in the darkest corners of his mind. His team…his brother’s team, are wary of him. He sees it in their eyes. The trust is gone and it cuts deep. But Takashi trusts him, tells him he doesn’t have to be him. He’s not fake and disposable, he has a soul, his own thoughts and feelings, and he can be his own person. A lot of his journey is being comfortable with being himself.
Later, on a mission in the far reaches of the universe, the team comes across a race they never thought they’d see. Descendants of Altea. Their leader?
Princess Romelle.
She takes no nonsense, would’ve killed them on sight. But seeing Allura, their old home’s legacy somehow surviving within the stars, she lets them in (cousin bonding!!). Ryou somehow ends up alone with her and he realizes she doesn’t need to know of his history. He can just be Ryou, Takashi’s twin brother. She won’t give him pitying looks, he’d actually be Ryou.
The groups go on missions together, Ryou stays by her side because his brother’s shadow doesn’t cling to his heart when she’s near. They fight side by side, he’s becoming more and more like his true self and he loves it. Everyone can even easily see the differences between the twins just by their tones and postures. True Twinganes™.
Besides Allura (and Coran), Ryou is the one Romelle is closest to on Team Voltron. She feels more solid in the fight, secure. Ryou seems to be on the same wavelength, gets to the point. With a call of the other’s name, she’ll pass him a wrench, he’ll pass her a sword. They’re in tandem. They click almost wordlessly.
It wasn’t until someone accidentally slips up about him being a clone. His insides grow cold with terror. No, no, he tried so hard. Things were going so well. Please, stars, no. Her shocked look makes his heart sink and he has to leave the room. He can’t bear to see disgust on her face; or worse, pity.
She finds him alone in the Black Lion’s hanger, oddly enough. Just sits by him, enough space in case he didn’t want closeness. They don’t speak for a while. She tells him she’s not mad. He says he’s disgusting. She asks if it’s because he’s from the galra. He doesn’t answer.
She tells him he didn’t ask for this to happen to him. No one asked for the cards they were dealt with in this war. But he actually gives her hope. How? She only ever saw Ryou from the beginning. His spirit is so strong, the Galra can’t touch him. He’s a fighter and a trusted friend. When she thinks of victory, it isn’t Voltron, the paladins, or even Princess Allura the first thing that comes to mind.
It’s him, Ryou Shirogane, smiling and by her side.

Writer Nonnie and as someone who watched FMA/FMA:B(I say watch like I finished them but really only like the first ten or so episodes) yeah, I don't think Shiro would have been that opposed to a robo-body(especially if Ryou made it double with Alura's help and with the Holts pitching in COME ON). Hell, if he went Danny Phantom we could get some sweet "hey dumbass did you really try to kick a ghost?" "I WILL defy physics for that terrible pun TAKASHI!" style banter.
Exactly.
Like if they were gonna “kill him” save his conciousness and quintessence...APPARENTLY... they had several bloody options!
But it’d have meant the EPs and writers had to acknowledge Shiro as a vital character vs “he’s in the way of Our Grimdark GaryStu VISION!!!” and Jiro (and the other clones) as their own characters and people in general.
And just. Really? Body harvesting. THAT’s what you went with. Body harvesting and making the Genocide Survivor (who just learned The Saga Continues) and the “horrified” Keith who sees the pickled remains. (Okay but WHY were they preserved. They’re used up if using them up was the intention “all along” aaaaand I’ll shut up about my Mr. Frankenstein!Lotor HCs. The entire thing is Just BAD regardless.)
So...all the “we saved Kuron (and sometimes a side of Lotor) but killed Another Guy instead” just squicks me out as bad as “we saved Lotor (but not Kuron)” or “we Saved All The Heroes (with an Alive Allura and BP Shiro) but not the Ebiiiillll Clone”
Hell. Even using “Kuron” as the guy’s name. But it seems that portion of the fanbase who use Kuron (or Kuro for BlackPilotCloneShirovs the Fanon Evil Shiro as an Actual Clone/separate character) that “stick with Kuron”. (C’mon! Give the guy a name. “Ryou” as a Nod to GoLion. Or Jiro/Gyro for the Monsters&Mana episode since he also had a Twinganes comment. Or choosing a different name entirely.)
-
Aaaand whoops. Spilled the salt vs continuing the shitposting.
But Shiro would absolutely Make Do as an Android or Data Ghost or Actual Ghost. (And c’mon. Since Matt is canonically sexually attracted to robots and Shiro’s any spectrum of mlm I hc him as panace but that’s just me, he’d totally give Matt absolute HELL at least once, probably for revenge of any number of Kerberos Trip pranks xD)
Or as a (Data) Ghost—he gets to FLY!!!! Okay so being limited to the Castle or BlackLion or some sort of emitter still completely sucks but hey. Who needs ZeroG or jetpacks when you can just have Controled Floating (and figuring out how to nyoooooom!! around. Especially if he’s Ghosty in his BP Armor since that’s how he “died” so Hello Jetpacks!) Also walking through walls and floors and intentionally freaking everyone tf out xD
(If/when Shiro gets his own body back, he’d probably spend a period of time running into walls and doors fully expecting to phase through them but Can’t now—sorta like astronauts dropping things for weeks on end once back Earthside. And probably puppy whining about Can’t Fly Now... (and doubling down to see if Black would give him a teensy bit of that back or something. He’s the Guardian of the Sky so that has to mean something...right??))
