One year ago today, I posted chapter one of The Path From You. I had no idea if my ideas had merit, or if anyone would want to read a post-war, canon divergent romance/adventure. I certainly didn't expect the response or the support I have received over the past twelve months. I wanted to take this moment to thank those of you who have stuck with me this far. It's been fifteen chapters, 116k words, three spin offs, two planned sequels, a lot of communication issues, and a whole lot of slow burn. I promise to make the last ten chapters worth it. 6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

In general, I reread all ongoing fics as they're being updated! For instance, anytime @takearisk-ao3 posts a new chapter to AG or TPFY, I will reread the last chapter, then the chapter that was updated, and then the same updated chapter again to catch anything I might've missed. The same goes for Beasts by @whinlatter. Then there’s Key Limes by cgner that I probably hit up about once a year, anything and everything by St. Margaret’s when I’m feeling nostalgic, such a beautiful blank (but smooth it) by pocketfullof (it's on LJ if you haven't read it! Go!), and currently I’m going through Someone Else’s Life by @ashotofogdensoldfirewhiskey again because the fluff is *chef's kiss*.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Off the top of my head, I think it’s this line from everything i am is yours:

She’s framed in the kitchen window that early August morning, and when she turns to greet him, she looks otherworldly, fae girl come to life, tinged in soft blue light and hair aflame.

UPDATE ABOUT THE UPDATE

in typical tpfy (hannah) fashion, we've done a complete overhaul of plot points in the last 36 hours. i have now taken the bulk of 16, moved it to 17 and am starting 16 from basically scratch. this is important. i know it needs to be done. for so many reasons, but mostly because i can't keep jumping into more plot without giving harry and ginny a minute to breathe.

thanks for your understanding and patience. its going to be so much better this way, i promise!

Harry watched for any change in Ginny’s expression, barely allowing himself to breathe for fear of it going vacant and pliable.  It didn’t. Her amber eyes remained hard. Determined. Blazing.  “Why isn’t it working!?” She reached for another taste but Harry caught her around the wrist.  “Dammit, Ginny,” he forced her to let go of the letter and it fluttered back down onto the table, leaving a sparkle of powder in its wake. “Would you stop doing that?”

so already gone is the closest to an actual update... the path from you remains a thorn in my side, but one that i love dearly and do not wish to part with. now that work has settled down and i don't feel like using up all my free time sleeping, progress is happening slowly but surely.

i really hate to be a tease so i am just going to come out and say that i will not be updating this week. I don’t feel good (baby daycare cold) and work is kicking my ass (midterm grades) so i am just going to try and relax this weekend and edit this chapter extra slow. thanks for your patience and understanding 💜

i’m just going to preemptively post this here because i’m sure i’m about to get a few asks wanting an eta for the next chapter.

i know i don’t have to share this. i know i don’t owe anyone an explanation but still…

this week has not been good. my daughter got a virus from daycare and i’ve had to stay home with her for the last couple days. because she’s sick, she hasn’t been sleeping well. which means i haven’t been sleeping well. i’m also way behind on my actual work, for my actual job so my free time is incredibly limited.

to top it all off, i’ve had some ridiculous dental issues for the last month which give me some chronic splitting headaches. it’s all fine. i’ve got meds and i’m getting my wisdom teeth out week after next, but it’s just A LOT at the moment so if we could not pressure me for an update this time around that’d be awesome.

normally it doesn’t bother me. i actually enjoy it. but idk … right now, i just need to chill for a while and write without a deadline

i am still enjoying tpfy immensely. i love writing and editing and engaging with you all. it’s been such a good escape from the stress but i’m also exhausted. so what i used to be able to get done in 15 min is now taking me an hour.

i don’t know when i’ll post chap 11. i want it to be tomorrow but it might not be. please be patient. thanks 💖

Hey! Do you know when you will be posting? I am desperately waiting for the new chapter. If it is gonna be long can we have a sneak peak??

so i was told by @fairsquare16 that the next time someone asks about a update on the update i was allowed to blame her because we spent the entire day yesterday talking about an original fantasy romance story that i have absolutely no intention of continuing, let alone finishing, instead of actually writing and editing chapter 11.. so please feel free to go over to her ask box and torture her for our delay (i am 100% joking please be nice to cata)

in all honesty, i have rewritten the second half of chap 11 at least four times and two days ago got so fed up with it that i deleted about 5k words (which looking back wasn't the best course of action but here we are) i have promised several people who can hold me accountable that this will be my last rewrite and for the sake of my own sanity i will not delete and rewrite any more scenes.

i actually have my doc opened right now and am working my way through it very slowly but we're working through it. i've honestly considered these past four weeks progress even though its been a nightmare, because it HAS gotten better with each rewrite its just frustrating for me that i have to rewrite in the first place.

ANYWAYS all of this is a really round about way of saying that i have no idea when i will post but that i hope it will be soon.

since it’s been a week, i thought i’d give you all an update on the update:

in the spirit of transparency (without spoilers) ginny’s emotions in this chapter are deep, and dark, and meaningful… and my attempts at conveying them are falling flat, at least to my own standards. it’s either not enough, or too much, or too much tell instead of show. ANYWAYS i’m taking my time with it because it’s important to me and i want it to *feel* important when you read it
