What do you really think about toons?
A good chunk of them are incredibly rude and have left me nearly inoperable for the past few years I’ve worked at COGS, but the nice ones aren’t so bad! Wish they saw our side of things though, we could really make this island into something really special if they let us suits explain it to them.
I think they could be really hard workers with all that stubbornness they use to fight us, shame we don’t usually see many if any applying for COGS!

In Hell I’d Be In Good Company AU
So besides @xxxtoony-brosxxx character, who I had the fun of drawing and animating a bit for some practice-since it had been a long while since I have been in the Bendy and the Ink Machine fandom. Pictured above is Bernard Dell’ichiostro, my character from the AU In Hell I’d Be in Good Company. Coming Soon to Tumblr…once i like…finish writing the first damn chapter. All in all had fun. Kind of happy to be back in this fandom though. It has been a couple of years.
Anaiel Tempest was an art student at her local university. She had everything she could ever dream of having in her life. A loving family, friends, a boyfriend who she was happy with.
Anaiel was innocent.
She was kind and generous to those around her.
But that didn’t save her when late one night she stumbled into a deal between two demons in an alleyway at the end of her town.
When everything had faded to black she had awoken, in a world much like hers but reversed, the throbbing ache in her head played to the dancing beat of the music muffled in the distance.
It smelled of sulphur, reeked of booze, and stunk of something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
All she knew was she needed to get home.
While she wandered, the music grew louder, laughter grew closer, and the large figure of some thing came into view.
From the light that blinded her eyes, she locked the figure in her view.
———
Human were not rare in Sin City. The majority of those that were there had already passed and were just living their days in the night club. They would rather do that then wander the streets trying to raise their status so that they could live in the nicer parts of the city.
Yet, when Bernard Dell’ichiostro, the owner of Sin City runs into a human, one that was still alive, he about lost his cigarette.
His last one in the pack.
It takes a moment for Bernard to collect himself as he moves across the way towards them.
He doesn’t know why he has the sudden urge to help, instead of reaping their soul for the taking, yet he can’t stop himself and the way she wasn’t afraid of him.
This was not going to end well for him.
But he would just have to wait and see how things go.
——
Bernard in the doodles, has tattoos which are my favorite thing about him. He has a legit tramp stamp that says: “Hell’s Angel” and a cross. Both on his back.
His backstory will be posted more later. It is a mix of super hilarious as this guy is a mix between: “when i was your age i-“ and “too tired and too old for your guy’s bullshit.”
Also has a bit of: “I Do some shit that you won’t believe-smack your ass into Christmas eve.” Type vibes.
Happy Holidays, squeebs. ❤️‍🔥

The Little Coffee Shop Around the Corner - Part I
Joel Miller was the type who didn’t believe in buying coffee from a coffee shop. He had a perfectly good coffee maker at home that he’d had for a quarter century now. One that had moved countries and still worked just as well as it had done the first day he’d bought it.
Well, that was until that very morning.
With a sputter and a final wheeze, the machine gave up the ghost, leaving Joel staring in disbelief at his kitchen counter. Grudgingly accepting defeat, he grabbed his coat and ventured out to his truck on the brisk Maplewood morning.
He’d moved to the small Canadian town a handful of years ago with his daughter Sarah from Austin Texas. Many had questioned his decision to move not just to another country, but to a town that was drastically different and far removed from Austin.
He hadn’t answered with much more than a shrug.
His contracting business had been doing well enough to live an easy life, step back and enjoy someone else taking the reigns.
That was until he became a widow at the age of thirty-six and all he’d wanted to do was get out of dodge. Everywhere he turned, there were reminders of her, making it too difficult for him to stay.
Sarah's arrival came after both of his parents had passed away. His brother Tommy had already moved to Wyoming in pursuit of joining a community that he insisted wasn't a commune, and he had settled down and started a family. This left him alone with Sarah, so when they were presented with the opportunity for her to receive a scholarship from a prestigious Canadian school with full access to their renowned soccer program, they eagerly took it as a chance for a new beginning. Despite its remote location in British Columbia, they saw it as a fresh start.
The transition had been challenging, no doubt about it. Neither of them possessed any winter clothing, and they both had to adapt to a new currency (Joel still struggled with the difference between a Loonie and a Toonie) while navigating unfamiliar locations. However, the warmth of the town's reception overshadowed all of those challenges. No one prodded for information or tried to uncover gossip; instead, they were embraced with open arms and quickly became just another part of the Maplewood community.
Sarah had quickly adapted to her new school, which didn't come as a surprise. Meanwhile, Joel had discovered that the town was in desperate need of a handyman, and soon enough Miller Contracting was back in business.
Pulling into a parking space on the main street outside of the bookstore Sarah often frequented, Joel rubbed his hands together cursing leaving his gloves at home. Despite his years in Maplewood, winter still felt like a shock every time it rolled around.
After taking a moment to orient himself, he recalled that the coffee shop was located to the left around the corner. With this in mind, he began his journey to the end of the street. Luckily, his workload for the day was relatively light, so this unexpected diversion wouldn't cause too much delay
The stores had wasted no time in getting out their Christmas decorations, he looked across the street as he walked to the bakery - its window frames draped in holly and ivy, punctuated by glittering baubles were no exception. Merry Tree Trek, a Christmas tree scavenger hunt put on by the town's businesses was due to start the following day. One of the many traditions Maplewood had for the festive season.
As Joel entered 'True North Brews,' the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and the gentle hum of conversation welcomed him. The shop was packed with locals, all happily chatting away as they waited for their orders to be ready. Standing in line, he scanned the menu, feeling out of his depth. This was Sarah’s territory - he usually was just there to provide payment before they headed on to whatever errand needed to be completed next.
He took in the festive decor as he waited in line. Christmas lights had been strung along the edges of the bar, while fake holly adorned every pillar in sight. Paper snowflakes hung from the ceiling and garlands of green and red festooned the fireplace. Which crackled merrily at one end of the room, and he smiled to himself as he watched an elderly couple sitting close together on one of the sofas near it - no doubt soaking up every minute of extra warmth they could get before trudging back out into the cold night air.
That’s when he noticed you behind the counter. You were relatively new, he knew your name and that you were the owner's daughter – Sarah had regaled your appearance in Maplewood several months back when you'd stopped by the bakery. Right now you were serving the town’s newest member of the tourism board, he couldn’t remember her name but knew he’d seen her with Marcus from the bakery here and there. Your eyes met briefly, and a hint of a smile danced on your lips.
Finally, it was his turn to order, “Hey Joel,” you said, recognizing him from his numerous visits with his daughter, “No Sarah today?”
He shook his head, “Just me.”
“In that case, what can I make for you?” you asked, your voice cheery in light of Joel’s look of utmost confusion.
“Just coffee, please,” he said, in a tone that suggested this was an everyday request.
You raised an eyebrow playfully. “Coffee? Coffee means a lot of different things around here. What kind of coffee would you like?”
Joel scratched his head, looking a bit lost. “Uh, just your regular coffee, you know? Nothing fancy,” he replied, his Texas drawl more pronounced.
You leaned against the counter with a friendly grin. “How about trying something a bit festive? A peppermint mocha, perhaps? It's like a holiday in a cup!”
Joel's eyebrows rose in surprise, but a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. “That's far too fancy for my tastes.” he laughed, “Just a regular black coffee will do.”
You nodded understandingly but with a twinkle in your eye. “Tell you what, how about an Americano? It's close to black coffee but with a bit more character. It's on the house, and if you don't like it, you can come back, and I'll make you a straight-up black coffee. But, I have a hunch you might enjoy the Americano.”
Joel looked surprised but intrigued. “Well, when you put it that way... sure, I'll give it a try.”
As you began preparing his order, Joel glanced around, noticing the line behind him starting to grow. “Looks like you've got a busy day ahead,” he remarked.
You smiled, handing him the Americano. “Maplewood wakes up early during the holiday season. Enjoy your coffee, and remember, if it's not to your liking, come back up for that black coffee.”
Joel opened his mouth to respond, but the bustling line behind him urged him forward, cutting short the chance for a proper response. He settled for a quick, “Thanks,” and moved aside.
Tumblr media
Later that day as you were wiping down the counters, your mother Jean and the current owner of the coffee shop, joined you out front. “I've been thinking,” she began, her voice laced with a blend of both excitement and seriousness.
“That’s dangerous,” you quipped, ignoring the scowl she sent you as she made her way around the counter to the front of the store.
“I was thinking,” she said ignoring you, “that now might be a good time for me to step back with you back in town.”
You paused, cloth in hand. Coming back to Maplewood hadn't been your first choice, especially after things ended with Max. Your ex-boyfriend who had suddenly gotten too tied up in climbing the corporate ladder, after a business trip across seas, to notice the relationship unravelling.
“I really don’t know how long I’m going to be here,” you replied, having already been in town a month longer than your original plan of just six weeks.
The statement was not an exaggeration; the apartment had been in Max's name, and the two of you had always planned to add your own on the deed. But procrastination got in the way. With rental prices on the rise and a sabbatical from work, coming home was your only option until you could figure out your next move.
She shrugged, “Doesn’t matter, as long as it’s long enough for me to do some travelling, get a taste of what an early retirement could look like.”
You sighed, “What’s the angle here, Mom?”
“What angle?” she responded as she fussed with the tree you’d both decorated with coffee-themed decor the night before for the Merry Tree Trek.
Your mother had a knack for mixing business with motherly concern in a way that only she could. She glanced at you over the rim of her glasses, a half-smile playing on her lips.
“No angle,” She said, adjusting a tiny coffee bean ornament. “I've been running True North Brews since before you were born, and it's been a dream. But, I'm not getting any younger, and the world's a big place. I'd like to see some of it while I still can.”
You couldn't help but smile at her adventurous spirit, something you had undoubtedly inherited. “You want to travel? Since when?”
“Since always,” she replied with a twinkle in her eye. “The shop has been in our family for two generations now. I'd hate to see it end up in different hands, or worse, closed down.”
The weight of her words hung in the air. Taking over the coffee shop wasn't something you had considered seriously. You had other dreams, didn't you? But then again, the shop was more than just a business; it was a piece of Maplewood's heart, and undeniably, a big part of your family's legacy.
Your mother continued, “I know you're figuring things out, and I'm not asking you to decide right this second. But think about it. This place could use your touch and your ideas. You've always had a knack for making people feel welcome, just like your grandmother did when she opened this place.”
You leaned against the counter, absorbing her words. The coffee shop had been a staple in your life for as long as you could remember. Your earliest memories were of playing behind the counter, the smell of coffee always in the air.
Perhaps this unexpected turn of events was not just a setback but an opportunity, a chance to add your chapter to the story of Maple Brews.
“I'll think about it,” you said finally, a mix of apprehension and excitement bubbling inside you. But you still threw her a pointed look, “just thinking about it, okay?”
“That's all I'm asking,” she replied, her eyes softening. “Now, help me with this stubborn string of lights, will you? This tree needs to look perfect for when the scavenger hunt starts this afternoon.”
Tumblr media
It was nearing closing when the ring of the bell at the front door rang signalling a customer. Looking up you saw Marcus, the owner of Maple Delights standing at the door, stamping his feet to rid his boots of the snow that had started the fall that afternoon.
“Hey Marcus,” you greeted, “can I get you anything?” you asked as you accepted a stack of pink cake boxes from him. Maple Delights had a long-standing business deal with True North Brews to sell their baked goods in their displays - one that extended beyond Marcus' tenure as owner.
He gave you a wide smile, “Actually, it’s what you can do for me?”
You raised an eyebrow, “Well, I’m intrigued.”
“So, the Jingle Bell Movie night later this month,” he said, posing the event as a question. It was an annual tradition of the town, with everyone coming together for an evening of festivities and movie-watching in the community centre. “I was thinking, what if Maple Delights and True North Brews tag-teamed the event?”
Your interest was piqued. “Go on,” you encouraged.
Marcus's eyes lit up. “I'll supply the treats—cookies, pastries, you name it—and you guys could handle the hot drinks? Hot chocolate, spiced cider, maybe some festive coffee concoctions?”
You nodded, already visualizing the bustling event. “Sounds like a perfect match to me. Maple Delights' treats and our drinks? The town will love it!”
“Hey, speaking of the bakery, question for you about the renovations you did when you bought the place. You restored it to its original façade, right?” you asked, as Marcus leant against the counter.
He smiled, a hint of pride in his voice. “Yeah, I did. Wanted to preserve a piece of Maplewood’s history. The building has such character, it felt right to bring it back to its former glory.”
“Well, it certainly is stunning. It must've been quite a project,” you remarked.
Marcus nodded. “It was a labour of love, but totally worth it in the end.”
Your mind was buzzing with ideas and your mother's earlier conversation replaying over in your head, “Who did you get in to do the work?” you asked, knowing that Maplewood wasn't exactly crawling with talented contractors and designers.
“Actually it was Joel Miller, he did the renovation.”
“Really?” you asked, surprised.
Marcus chuckled. “Joel really did some great work on the bakery. He's got a really good eye for detail. Took my vision and made it even better than I could have imagined.”
You were impressed. “Wow, well he did an amazing job. It was one of the first things I noticed when I came back. It adds so much charm to the street.”
“Thanks,” Marcus said, a warm smile on his face. “Joel's a really talented guy. He's a great addition to the community, both him and Sarah.”
“Well, if he did such a great job with the bakery, maybe he could help us with the coffee shop,” you said, half-jokingly.
Marcus raised an eyebrow. “You're thinking of doing a reno?”
You hesitated, feeling a bit exposed not having intended to speak out loud your internal thoughts, “It's something my mom and I have discussed in the past, but she's the type if it ain't broke don't fix it.”
Marcus laughed, “I can testify to that, I mentioned I was looking to scale back serving coffee in the bakery, and asked if she had any interest in the espresso machine,” you rolled your eyes knowing what was coming, you'd been begging her to replace the old machine for years, “told me that this one,” he jerked his thumb in the direction of the tired looking machine, “worked just fine.”
You shook your head, “One of these days she's going to realize giving it a good thud is probably doing more damage than fixing it.”
Marcus glanced at his watch. “I should get going. Got to make sure we have enough gingerbread dough for tomorrow. Those gingerbread men won't bake themselves!”
“Thanks for stopping by. Let's touch base early next week to finalize those plans for the movie night.”
With a nod and a wave, you watched Marcus leave, but now the seed of an idea was planted in your mind. A reno could be just what True North Brews needed to give it a fresh look and make it stand out. But you weren't taking over, you reminded yourself, no -- it was just you helping out with the family business, nothing more, right?
Tumblr media
The next morning, Joel’s kitchen still lacked a new coffee maker. The old one sat forlornly on the counter, a reminder of a morning routine disrupted. With a resigned sigh, Joel grabbed his coat and headed out to his truck. The town was slowly waking up, the street sprinkled with early risers and the promise of a busy day ahead.
As he pushed open the door of the coffee shop, the familiar jingle of the bell greeted him, along with the rich aroma of brewing coffee. You looked up from the espresso machine, a smile spreading across your face as you recognized him.
“Morning, Joel,” you greeted. “Americano?” you asked with a hopeful smile since he'd never returned for that black coffee.
Joel nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. “You know, I never thought I’d say this, but I think I actually like it a bit more than my usual.”
You laughed as you prepared his coffee. “Glad to hear that. We might make a coffee aficionado out of you yet.”
“Let's not get too ahead of ourselves.” he laughed as he watched you prepare his drink.
Handing him his coffee, you hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Actually Joel, can I ask you something about your contracting work?”
He looked surprised but nodded. “Sure, what about it?”
“I heard from Marcus that you did the renovation work on the bakery. It looks incredible. Said you kept the original design when you worked on it?”
Joel’s expression softened, a hint of pride in his eyes. “Yeah, I did. Marcus wanted to retain the historical look of the building. It was a great project to work on, restoring it to its original state while giving it all the modern requirements.”
You were genuinely interested. “That’s impressive. It’s such an integral part of the town’s charm. I’ve been thinking, True North Brews could use a bit of sprucing up. Would you perhaps be up for discussing a quote any time soon?”
Joel looked around the coffee shop, considering. “Sure, I’d be happy to. What did you have in mind?”
“I'm not too sure, mostly starting fixing what needs fixing and going from there, just keeping the cozy vibe but maybe adding a little Maplewood flair to it.”
He nodded, sipping at his coffee thoughtfully. “Sounds like a good project. Why don’t we sit down sometime next week and go over what you’re thinking? I can put together some ideas and a quote for you.”
“That would be great,” you replied, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect of giving the coffee shop a fresh, new look.
Placing his coffee on the counter, Joel handed you his business card from his wallet, giving you a quick glimpse of a family portrait tucked inside.
“Here,” he said pocketing his wallet and handing you his business card, “why don't you give me a call and we can arrange something?”
You smiled as you traced the logo of Miller Contracting, “Sure, sounds like a plan!”
As Joel left, coffee in hand, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. Not only at the idea of possible renovations but for the growing sense of community you had quickly settled into while only being back for a short period in Maplewood. But before you could think any further about it, the bell above the door rang and a group of tourists trekked in, Merry Tree Trek maps in hand.
You gave them a wide smile as you welcomed them in, “Welcome to True North Brews, what can I get started for you?”

I was watching Yu-Gi-Oh!: Dark Side of Dimensions tonight. When I rewatch movies, I always find something I didn't catch before. Like THIS:
Tumblr media
I found this in the scene where Diva is arriving at the old factory to confront the bullies.
I actually can't believe Kaiba...allowed this? If I'm not mistaken, didn't he get his knickers in a twist over Pegasus' Toon Blue-Eyes? How is this any better?
Ah. The construction hat. Yes. That makes this toony version super srs because he has a job.

We have the original Blueprints for the Chairman!
We've had this information since the 26th ARG, but I haven't seen anyone talk about this. Ramblings and pictures under the cut
I was reading through the MMO Central Forums when the ARG was running, and came across a thread by user Sir Kids Nickelton
Tumblr media
In the thread, they were sharing theories, clues, and solved cyphers for the ARG, and pointed this out:
Tumblr media
Now i was viewing on mobile, which meant the picture didn't load for me, so i found the picture myself and
Tumblr media
Holy. vveh.
Now if anyone knows anything about me, I am obsessed with any loree surrounding the Chairman. So I rounded up the six Blueprints, constructed them like the Pieces of Exodia, and recreated the sketch to the best of my ability. Here are the Blueprints and my thoughts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The glove-like hands from the installer cutscene are still there, and he was originally built with a smile. Almost confirming he was built with some level of Tooniness. Given how he acts now, its implied that The Chairman either repressed this, or removed the Silliness from himself entirely
Also carrying over from the installer video is the Chairman's sheer height. He takes up SIX SHEETS of paper for goofiness's sake. Scrooge came up to the bottom of The Chairman's knee, and thanks to the Carl Banks comic For Old Dime's Sake, we know Scrooge is about three feet/One meter tall. If this sketch is to be believed, the Chairman stands at approximately twelve feet/four meters tall.
Deviating from the video, This Chairman appears to only have a singular antenna, with what looks like a satellite dish at the end. Considering the video depicts The Chairman apparently "talking" through his antennae, maybe this is implying that he talks to the rest of the Cogs through this dish.
Most interestingly, there appears to be a massive cavity in The Chairman's chest where a heart should be. This is the only Major design detail unique to Toontown Rewritten, and is very likely intrinsic to the story the team wants to tell.
All in All, this is a fascinating find that I'm surprised more people haven't been talking about. Ive included the Raw blueprints without my restoration attempt to see if anyone else notices something that I didn't. In the meantime, I'm tempted to go back to the forums to see if there's anything else we've missed or forgot...

Something that I think we don't talk about enough is Beetlejuice and all the cartoonish sound effects that follow him.
This is rambly, but I'm making this surface-level analysis/speculation/headcanon everyone else's problem. >:3c
Ignoring the cartoon (since that's expected in the soundscape of an animated show aimed at younger audiences), Beetlejuice himself is accompanied by over-the-top sound effects in the film and musical that just aren't really present for other characters (at least not in the same way they are for him). While it's obviously to make his scenes funnier, I love the idea of them being an extension of his magic. Either he finds it funny for his actions to be accompanied by goofy sounds and times them himself for comedic effect, or they're a totally subconscious thing/he doesn't even need to think about doing it.
Especially in the context of moviejuice being more malicious than his counterparts, it's an unsettling dichotomy of this centuries-old conartist/manipulator being accompanied by goofy noises. And, if he chooses to actively magic these sounds into exiestence when he's interacting with the people he's tormenting, it implies that he enjoys the victims' suffering and finds it funny enough to go the extra mile to make it humiliating. They do seem to be tied more to when his magic is being used rather than happening in response to what he's physically doing.
I feel like the idea of intentional sound effects is true of musicaljuice, too. Yeah, he's meant to be more sympathetic while still being manipulative and selfish, so I feel like he does it to make himself goofier since he's so painfully lonely and lacks social skills (literally being invisible will do that). It could also be because of some anxiety, but I don't want to project too hard. I'd even go so far as to say that he thinks the sound effects make him less-intimidating.
There's some evidence to suggest that the sound effects are intentionally done since musicaljuice breaks the fourth wall in multiple instances across slight variations of the show (DC, Broadway, tour). Whether it's putting on a show to intentionally mislead the Maitlands/Deetzs (and by extension the audience), or trying to come off as funny in the hopes that it'll make up for his more obvious flaws, it's anyone's guess. Personally, with how desperate he is for friends and for someone to break his curse (we know he's not above manipulating people), I'm more inclined to believe it's a little bit of both.
That said, I also like the idea of them being a result of how Beetlejuice (musicaljuice specifically) interacts with the material world. He's an anomally (half-ghost-half-demon) at best and an abomination at worst. There's a part of me that wonders if the physical world outside of the Netherworld cannot handle his very existence without an assortment of "glitches" happening as a result of his mere presence (like the stretching sound that happens when he phases through walls and tables for example).
And, to really stick to my wishy washy thoughts on the whole thing, the toony sound effects are a bit of both. A reminder that the world of the living can't really handle his existence, but he's embraced it and made it his own. It's now a part of his shtick. It defines him as different, but he owns it and has as much fun with it as he can, or manipulates the ability when he sees fit.
And you know I will be abusing the toony sound effects thing in anything I end up writing.

i gotta ask. is there anything specific that inspired your art style?
i really like it, and i just kinda wanna know.
hi don't mind the fact that i respond 6 months after you asked please please please
i guess it'd be kind of lame just to answer with " my style is virtually a culmination of everything i have ever seen before & liked in art " huh;
it's kind of hard to say for certain?
this is going to sound. so silly. but off the top of my head, i want to say that my biggest, prominent influences was the mlpfim artstyle & fucking. danganronpa
the thicker lines & the more vector-like, toony aspects i'd attribute to my little pony ( particularly the denser top eyelashes i draw on characters, if you've noticed; ), & danganronpa really encouraged me to practice a more " realistic " style with more wrinkles on clothes, details to the skin, & balanced proportions ( not that that style has that with everyone's long as stupid fuck legs, among other things ), & having practiced drawing in those styles before, if not having outright tried to mimic them, has pushed me forward to a massive degree i believe.
YOU SEE, if you haven't noticed by this point, i'm a bit of a style-mimicker / copier. when drawing a character from their respective cartoon or media, more often than not, i'm drawing in that show's style or something similarly adjacent. & having DONE that for so long, learning how to get my hands around the style & all of it's ins & outs, THEN allows me to sample elements & techniques that i can put into MY OWN artstyle.
& i'm not saying that works for everyone or that you ought to do it too ( though i might recommend it! ), but it worked for me! & now my artstyle is a melting pot of everything mine eyes have ever seen.
BUT I WILL SAY! when it comes to coloring, which i've had / i have a bit of a harder time with i will admit, i've recently been taking inspiration from SPECIFICALLY @/kanrix & my sibling @/tomiechu! or at least they're the ones i can name off the top of my head beyond random images i find online or All of My Friends. they have good heads around pleasing, interesting, & befitting palettes for the drawings they create & you best BELIEVE my eyestrain or die loving ass is taking tips.
THANKS FOR ASKING! hopefully this sated your curiosity some!

"It's always good to see another who's interested in non-Suit Life!
Succulents are such a hardy plant... so stubborn and so beautiful. Possibly the easiest plant to take care of. I may consider getting Judy or Jason a succulent.
I could give Jennifer one, but I doubt she'd take care of it well. Janet I haven't seen in a while, I believe she's on vacation."

The FNAF fan song 'Creepin' Towards the Door' gave me this idea.
Five Nights at Roger Rabbit's Toontown AU
Tumblr media
(Please note; I know NOTHING about Fnaf, nor do I plan to go into the series. All I know is that it's got neat character design, something spooky happening, and they're all animatronics. So I apologize if I get lore wrong)
Summary
Set in the 80's, a huge, cartoon themed restaurant was opened, under the name Roger Rabbit's Toontown. By the towns mysterious judge, Mr. Doom no less. Nobody could fathom why a normal man of law would establish such a business, let alone a man like Doom who's attire alone looked like he was ready for a funeral any minute. Especially a funeral he was the cause of.
Nevertheless, Mr. Doom's new gig quickly became quite popular among children and families. From the colorful visuals, the cute and witty cast of oddly advanced animatronic characters. It even brought in more tourists for the town! Which of course, made Doom an even bigger presence in the community than before.
However, no one ever stopped to wonder; how are these robots so advanced for the time? Why did the cruel judge even think about going into the family friendly business? And how do the toony characters seem so... Life like?
No one cared to question it. Neither did Eddie Valient, the new and desperate security guard hired for the night watch. But he's going to see exactly what these animatronics get up to when the curtain draws close...
The Restaurant
Judge Doom is an old soul. Which is a nice way of saying that he's a stuffy, old-fashioned man. And the decor of the place shows his taste. Despite the more toony and child friendly theme, it is definitely a homage to the early 1900s. It even makes history fun! Children can find plenty of interactive attractions around the place that will tell them interesting facts, such as how the first animated cartoon was made in 1908.
The size of the place is also clearly meant to make sure that the 'town' part of the establishments title was not to be taken lightly. Large enough to be considered a mansion, with one huge stage in the center and circled by the countless tables (think Dolly Parton's restaurant Stampede, as seen below), not to mention all of the secret passage ways and vents that allow the cast and staff to either navigate the restaurant without disturbing the show, or quickly make their way to the audience to interact with them and make them a part of the stageplay! Which, each play is on par with your favorite Saturday morning cartoons; wacky, zany, and just a hint of adult humor for the parents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie and whoever else might be on night watch with him will have quite the hassle keeping track of all the animatronics, when they know the place inside and out...
The Cast
The Humans
Judge Doom: The owner of this fine establishment. A mysterious man with a dark aura. Rumors say that going into the family entertainment business is him trying to turn over a new leaf... Though others believe that the family fun is an attempt to hide something far more sinister...
Eddie Valient: a down on his luck man who just needs something after the untimely and mysterious death of his brother. He can't keep asking his girlfriend for help, he knows she has her own bills to pay- not to mention he already owes her so much. He needs this job, even if those animatronics are freaky...
The Good Guys
Roger Rabbit: The main protagonist and mascot of the restaurant. This cute little rabbit just adores his beautiful wife, loves all of his friends, and offers a helping hand to those in need! Even if those mischievous weasels are out and about... Though sometimes, even heros need someone to save them...
Jessica Rabbit: The wife and secondary protagonist of the restaurant. Although her design is meant to appeal to the more mature members of the audience, she is always right beside her honey bunny and ready to step in when the weasels go too far...
Baby Herman: Oddly, the only humanoid animatronic in the whole establishment- next to Jessica that is. His role on stage is a sort of 'oblivious side plot'; Roger is almost always, for some reason, taking care of the baby and has to keep him out of trouble. Though when everyone goes home, this baby proves just how much of a loud mouthed brat he can be... It's odd how a child character would have such a crass soul deep down, no?
Benny the Cab: Taking the role of Roger's side kick and vehicle, this cab is part of the reason why the restaurant is so huge; to make room for such a huge animatronic, especially one made for chase scenes! Despite being a car, he almost seems a bit human... Though the same could be said for all the other animatronics too.
The Bad Guys
Smartassguy Weasel: The big bad of the whole cast. As the leader of the giggling pack of weasels, he's the one behind most of the nefarious plots against Roger Rabbit's Toontown. Mean, egotistical, and a cutthroat attitude to boot. You don't want to get on his bad side, as Eddie will find out soon enough...
Greasy Weasel: Smarty's perverted right-hand man. With an oily personality, a swift hand, and eyes on Mrs. Rabbit herself, it's a wonder Doom allowed this character to be made for a children's establishment... They should see what he's like when the lights go out.
Wheezy Weasel: This weasel is believed to be the Judges way of teaching children to say no to cigarettes. Quiet, intimidating, and with his glowing red hued eyes, it's odd how Wheezy wasn't chosen as the main villain for the cast...
Psycho Weasel: This animatronic has seemed to take it upon himself to bring a whole new meaning to 'interactive storytelling' in the grimmest sense. Psycho will often pop up out of nowhere and scare unsuspecting patrons, and the few times he speaks is always something... Sinister... Why Doom would think a character this morbid would be fit for family-friendly entertainment is anybodies guess.
Stupid Weasel: The only villain animatronic who seems to fit in the toony theme of the establishment the best. A big dumb brute, who just follows orders. His childish antics shine a more light-hearted light on the rest of his gang, but also make him stick out like a sore thumb... It's almost like he's not where he's supposed to be...
Will the nightguard be able to survive all five nights in Toontown? What do you think?

(@ask-toonie-cogsworth )
Mh. Sorry ah got t' ya this late, Mx. Cogsworth. Hope yer still holdin' up, despite it all. Now, 'bout th' audit... Hm. Well. Was a pain in the ass, ah can tell yeah that. Ah didn't exactly 'ppricate havin' t' deal constantly wit boardbots tryin' t' break into our offices, claimin' they could "lend us a helping hand."
I'm perfectly satisfied with my OWN hands as IS!!!
Mh-hm, exactly. Now ah've seen my fair share o' turmoil, ah'd even go so far as t' say we're well acquainted. But if ah'm to be honest. ... Ah ain't never seen somethin' spiral as quickly as that audit. Was like watchin' a spinnin' top in quicksand.
I STILL can't believe the Chairman hired- shadowy LIARS- after he FIRED the other Boardbots for LYING!!!!!
Hm.
There needs to be a SET STANDARD! Does COGS inc. hire liars, or NOT! Not to mention that one that's been all- networky with Dana!
Ah haven't spent much time wit t' new lot. And considerin' what I've heard 'bout them Head Honchos... it's fer t' best.
For you?
No. Fer them. And t' integrity of their shells.

Ok ok ok I NEED to wrote that drabble... But after your ask of what the weasels would do if Poppy tried to leave them, I HAD to write a 'after the fact' scenario for all of them. Basically, now that Toontown is gone, and they're the only toons left... Now what? Does she come back to them? Does she stay away? Is she still trapped? These are definitely gonna be long, so all the ships are going to get their individual asks.
I've been catapulted into a Peezy mood, so Wheezy gets to go first XD... Also this one's got two endings, since I can see this going in two different routes, and I don't know which I like more. So YOU get to be the judge!
~
Since Wheezy told her when they were going to strike, or at least gave her a vague time of when, Poppy chooses to leave town entirely. Pack what she can, and find somewhere to stay- hopefully temporarily- in the human side of LA. She hates it; she worked her tail off to find a stable place to live after Henry took everything from her, and now she's about to lose her home again. Unless she can stop this plot from happening. So, unfortunately, that's just another thing that these weasels took from her when they decided to do this.
Poppy would be so, so miserable out there. It's been years since she's had to be around humans, so she had forgotten how they looked down on her own kind. It's a miracle that she manages to find a motel that would even allow her to stay, as long as she "keeps that crazy toony shit to herself". So now, she's managed to buy herself some time in the motel... It's time for her to step up and find the hero Toontown needs right now.
But she doesn't. None of the humans she tells will listen to her. Why would they believe that somebody would want to destroy Toontown? And she already tried to talk to Eddie despite knowing he doesn't help toons anymore, but he drove her away before she could tell him everything... And now, the week is up.
It's the talk of the town rather next day. All the humans shocked as if they hadn't been warned of this. Poppy's heart is torn into pieces as she watches Cloverleaf start to build over her former home... And there's no sign of the only other toons that could possibly be left.
Poppy has no choice but to find a way to make ends meet. But finding a stable job among the humans is quite difficult. She's managed to pick up some odd jobs here and there, but she's barely scraping by with that. And it's while she's out trying once again to find a more permanent job, that's when she runs into him. Wheezy.
The former lovers' eyes meet, and share the same look; surprised to find the other here of all places, yet relief. Wheezy feeling relieved that the one he still loves Poppy made it out ok, and Poppy feeling a slight comfort at finally seeing another toon after so long. A familiar toon at that... A toon she misses so much.
"... Heya, 'Pops..." He decides to say first, taking a drag from his cigarettes- human cigarettes now... She would have thought they'd stock up on toon cigarettes before. The not-so-familiar smoke billowing out of the corners of his mouth as he takes the chance to see all of Poppy again, before she leaves again, "You doin' alright?"
Her eyes are wide in shock, still processing that he was actually here... But there's also a tiny bit of warmth in those brown orbs, too. She still remembers how sweet he was to her, and how accepting he had been when she gave him the ultimatum... It still hurt deeply that he still chose to do what he did, but she can't bring herself to forget his kindness...
~
Outcome 1
...
No. No, she had to be strong. Wheezy may have treated her right before, but he wasn't good. He still willingly destroyed everything she loved... She had to be strong now.
Poppy didn't even have to say a word for him to know what she was thinking. All he had to see was that little warmth being forcefully shoved back, and she looked at him like anybody else now. Aside from the sudden sharp drag he took, Wheezy doesn't seem to notice the shift in her eyes. But he does nod solemnly, accepting her decision despite how much he yearned for her now, "I see... You better get back to whatever you were doin'. Seems important."
The rabbit just nodded as well, and went to turn on her heel... Before she stops and turns back to the old weasel. The love she had tried to hide was shining through her glossy eyes again, and Wheezy wonders what she's about to do. Now it was his turn to show his shock when she spoke, "I'll never forget you. No matter what happens..."
It was her final goodbye... He knew that. And it only made his heart feel heavier. His usually cold eyes were soft- they always were, for her- and he actually took the cigarettes out of his mouth as he looked back to her, the smoke cloud around his face able to dissipate now, allowing her to see him clearly now, "I won't forget you either... Take care of yourself, sweetheart. Ok?"
She only responds with a silent nod, and then quickly walks away. Too scared of what she'd do if she stayed longer. And Wheezy is left there, watching her retreating back, knowing that she wouldn't be coming back.
~
Outcome 2
...
Her eyes fill with tears and her lips tremble as she remembers everything she's been through out here, all alone in this strange world, without Wheezy. And now he was here, and he still loved her. She could see it in his eyes.
Before she can even consider the consequences, Poppy ran to him. Crashing into his safe ashy arms- even after everything, he always would welcome her with open arms no matter what- and clings onto him like a lifeline. Passing humans look at them oddly, but she doesn't care. If anything, it just spurs her to breakdown in her smokers arms.
She hated herself so much right now. Why couldn't she be strong enough to stay away? Wheezy had done something she could never forgive... But now, with the feeling of his strong arms wrapped around her, the toxic smell of his addiction surrounding her, and the dirty dress shirt clenched in her paws, it was only cemented in her mind that she couldn't stay away, "I l-love you... I-I'll always love you..."
It's said with heartbreak and not love. Wheezy knew that she didn't want to be here with him because of what he did. She didn't want to love him, and it did hurt... But right now, with his girl in his arms after being separated from her for so long, all he wanted to do was hold her snug against him, lose his nicotine stained fingers in those curls of hers he missed, and whisper soothingly in her ear, "Shh, shh, it's ok baby girl. I got you."
They could go pick up her things later- he wasn't going to let her go back to wherever she was staying, he knew it couldn't have been anywhere good. Right now, the two united, unfortunate, lovers let themselves sink in each other's embrace. Even if they both knew that these circumstances were terrible, they couldn't let each other go again.
OOOOOOH OKAY I'M GONNA ADMIT IT-
Peezy is my favourite Poppy ship XD I LOVE THEM ALL, but Peezy??? <3<3<3<3 Poppy with this scary looking old man who's actually got the most integrity in the group but still does what he 'gotta do'???? Holy crap, holy moly, holy crap.
OKAY SO THE ACTUAL FIC-
First of all- I love that Wheezy warns her ^^ Of course he does. I mean, he's still doing the terrible thing-- but he's warning his girl even though he knows she wont want him anymore?? (or *cough* wont want to want him anymore, at least) Completely on brand.
OOH BOY the shivers I get reading that 'and now, the week is up' bit.
and AGHHHHH Poppy feeling comfort at seeing him cuz she hasn't seen someone of her kind in a long time even though he is the reason for that??!! and also because its him, its wheezy, and she loved (loves) him- holy moly guacamole- I've been h i t-
Oh I love the detail that its a human cig he's sucking on. That's straight-up just a killer detail, that's all.
'The not-so-familiar smoke billowing out of the corners of his mouth as he takes the chance to see all of Poppy again, before she leaves again' <- <- this is my favourite line right here. I dunno, it feels like it could be predatory (especially considering this is an older man who destroyed her home and everyone she knew) but its not? Its just a man trying to hold onto something he loves for the few moments he's got it. And and and- 'take care of yourself sweetheart, ok?' <- THAT ONE IS MY FAVOURITE TOO! Oh wait wait no- 'knowing that she wouldn't be coming back' is painful too, oh my god--
AND OUTCOME 2 IN GENERAL- I-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That outcome is my cruel-heart's favourite, definitely. Ughhhh they're gonna be so unhappy together but so addicted to each other at the same time and I- I- wooooooooooooooooo boy I need a moment XD

AH! you never told me you had a sister! shes gonna grow up to be a great lawyer just like you!
(@ask-toonie-cogsworth)
She's a bit of a more recent thing. It's a long story, but I think she can summarize that for you.
yeah! i used to be a toon like a lot of you out there. crazy, i know. i just kinda existed! felt pretty lonely since there weren't a lot of other robot gators. i got around to the brrrgh, heard about the lawbots. their headquarters felt kind of like home to me, for as many lawfices i'd raided and as many times i'd sent miss morsecode into quicksands and trapdoors. if you're reading this, i'm still very sorry about all of that, ma'am. then i got up enough in ranks to battle her during a litigation team meeting. that's when i first met mundie! something happened in my little head seeing another robot alligator and even though miss morsecode sent me back to the playground, i had to get back in there! i had to say hi! so i did!
Tumblr media
We weren't on the best terms on our second encounter, but we eventually got to just talk after this little goober dodged everything I could throw at her. Eventually she told me of her disdain for how her fellow Toons treated her for being different, so she struck a deal. She decided to work with us, and surprisingly, she took right to practicing Suit Law like a natural.
Haha. Almost like she was built for it.
hahaha! ha! r... right!
Tumblr media
Anyhow, I took her in under my snout, and we bonded like we came from the same pod. Adoption papers are some of the fastest documents us Lawbots can pump out, believe it or not.
