FaceBook Marketplace Find
*Awkwardly waves hi*
Been super inactive in terms of posting on here but I’m always consistently lurking and getting a lot of joy from other people’s creativity while I put a lot of things on hold for my education basically. Anyway, I was really excited about this so I just wanted to put it out into the world. Will probably delete later.
Picking up this little lady tomorrow from the tried and true FB Marketplace. Magic Attic Doll Rose Hopkins! I’ve been interested in this line for the last year or so, especially because of their connection to the Tonner Doll Company.
Tumblr media
That’s not all—the seller listed her for FREE!!! I thought it was one of those things where they list an item for “free” just to pull you in and then get their asking price but I think it’s the real, bonafide, true blue (in this case green) deal. I’m also looking to get my hands on her books at some point so we can get better acquainted.
Tumblr media
The cutest bio about her from the 1998 catalogue!
A lot of info here, actually—her family is Cheyenne (I don’t believe the tribe is specified, however, so that’ll be up to me), she’s really close to her grandfather, and her interests include soccer and working with technology.
Hoping against all hopes I meet you tomorrow, “Little Flower!”

Master Post - Dolls, Figs, Minis
Tumblr media
Bobobie Sprite Doll
My own doll & figurine collection, plus some other posts about dolls/figs. I'm just getting into custom doll repainting and painting minis for gaming, so I'll include any posts about those on this master post as well.
16" Fashion Dolls
Tumblr media
Elfdoll Hana (BJD), Tonner Tyler, Tonner Matt, Tonner Sydney, Mme Alexander Jadde Lee
In the 1990s and 2000s there was a boom in larger-than-barbie-scale fashion dolls, and I collected a lot of 16" dolls from Robert Tonner, Alexander doll co., Ashton-Drake doll, and a couple by Integrity toys/Jason Wu. Nowadays you can pretty much only buy them on Ebay, alas. The good news is that Barbies and other 11.5" dolls have become a lot cooler and more diverse lately, although the quality of clothing available for Barbie-sized dolls still doesn't match the fashions for the larger dolls.
The Doll Morgue I store most of my 16" fashion dolls in an Ikea wine-bottle shelf thingy, and this is the result.
Ball-Jointed Dolls (BJDs)
Tumblr media
Bobobie Demon Elf Charisma Doll
Ball-Jointed Dolls from Asian companies are my favorite dolls; they tend to be quite expensive and there are long timeframes for manufacture and delivery. These are ideal dolls if you like to do custom stuff - you can change out their eyes, wigs, they're large so they're easy to sew for, and they often come with unpainted faces so if you like doing "face ups" (as face painting for BJD's is usually termed), they're a nice canvas for this. I've had most of the ones in my collection for 15+ years, since after my son was born I switched to spending most of my money on him. They've all held up very well, though, and I still enjoy them tremendously.

Licensed MXTX character dolls by Ringdoll. I don't own any of these, I just covet them extremely. The photos are the official Ringdoll photos.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji (Mo Dao Zu Shi / Grandmaster of Diabolism)
Tiny Figures
Tumblr media
Nendoroid Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling
Recently I've been getting into Nendoroids and other itty bitty figures. No posts to link yet, but I will hopefully get some photos posted soon. I'll link them here when I do.
Future posts (this is just a reminder list for myself): Elfdoll Hazy - Nendoroids - Pop-Up Parade - Marvel Legends - Star Wars Black Series - Tonner Repaints - Barbie Repaints - Star Wars Legion minis - DnD Minis - Obitsu - Bobobie BJDs - Limhwa BJD - qPosket - ICY fortune days BJD

I have looked at all the cheap legit companies and don’t like anything. I am not into the “round-faced baby” look, or the “1980s shoujo heartthrob” look, or the “Rose of Versailles heroine” look, or the “ElfQuest hero” look. These are all charming approaches—sincerely—but the dolls from R3sinSoul, B0bobie, Myou, Doll Leaves, AE, Mystic Kids, D0ll Family, etc. really don’t appeal to me personally.
I love BJDs (so am not into Tonner or Barbie) and I love hyper realistic styles. Ipleh0use, Aquatalis, SartoriaJ, Racc0ondoll. I can’t find any MSDs of realistic dolls under $250. I was told repeatedly that anyone can participate in the hobby if they buy a cheap legit, but there’s NO acknowledgement that not everyone can find something they actually want to buy. Your selection is very aesthetically limited in that price range. It’s frustrating, because I know you experienced doll fiends are well aware of this. Why lie?
I am giving up on joining the hobby. But I will leave a couple of tips from my research: If you like Minifees, look at Mystic Kids (they’re not as cute, but they’re close). If you like Freedom Teller, look at Asleep Eidolon (again, not quite the same, but a similar approach to makeup and character). Take care, everybody!

Tonner Dolls
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These dolls are 22" tall and were produced by the Robert Tonner Doll Company in 2013. Each doll was produced in only 150 pieces, and they have a price tag to match that scarcity. They come packaged with a display stand, but are able to stand on their own as well. The tails are attached with magnets and their wigs are removable.

Dec 30
I was this close to getting a second hand Unoa but then I remembered I have a doll about that size something something and this is a predominantly playscale/littles household.
Tumblr media
But I managed to get exactly two Orientdolls when the company was still around. The big one is the same size as Ashton Drake and Tonner dolls, his "default" outfit is Tonner pajamas, and damn I need to take new and better pictures of everyone.
So what I was doing was looking at DOA sales threads. I am half looking for a couple of things, wouldn't mind a tiny-taur or a couple other unusual dolls. Another Dollkot fairy would be great.
What ended up coming out of it was how fugly a lot of the dolls are. And the realization why I don't have that many ball joints in the first place. And if you own anything in the SD range honestly where the hell do you put it? If you came over you'd never know I had 70cm twins right now.
Tumblr media
Jareth and the same baby.
Seriously, carry an SD resin around for awhile and you'll get your cardio work out.
And when I took all those pictures they looked fine on my Windoze craptop. Just tells ya how old they are.
Started this morning wanting to rant about something else but I think I'll let it sit for awhile and either not be so important or gather more facts. It's something I don't have a personal stake in but feel very opinionated about that makes me worry about y'all's children.

The jewel of my doll collection - Evangeline Ghastly, “Gothic Vigil” (by Wilde Imagination). This version of Evangeline was released at Wizard World Philly in 2008 and was limited to 50 dolls, so she was difficult to acquire. She is currently dressed in the “Afterlife Elegance” gown and “Dark Secrets” wig, and is accompanied by her pet cat Valentine.

Hello, You seem to know a lot about dolls, I just learned of some dolls I've never heard of and wondered if you had any info on them? They are called American Diary Dolls, Porcelain and I believe from the 80s and 90s, I have magic attic ones and it seems some of the makers made the porcelain dolls. I was just inquiring some Info on them.
Hi! I am familiar with the brand name itself, because I remember seeing an ad for one of the dolls in my mom's Doll Reader magazine when I was little. I thought they were cute, but I was too young for porcelain dolls. And I had forgotten until now that they came with little books, just like American Girl dolls. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much info about them out there. What I could find is this: they're 16 inch collectible dolls, limited to a very short window of production, about 3 months total. So they would have stopped being made in the mid 90's, a few years before the Internet became widely used, which explains the lack of information about them.
Tumblr media
They were sculpted by Linda Mason and sold by Georgetown Collection. Georgetown is actually the same company that first debuted the Magic Attic Club doll collection, and designed by Robert Tonner. The MAC changed ownership several times before going defunct, and towards the end of their life did produce some limited edition porcelain Magic Attic dolls. But that would have been a few years after Georgetown sold off the MAC line.
Tumblr media
It doesn't look like American Diary dolls are worth very much now--lots of them are sitting around on eBay and Etsy listed for a lot less than they were originally sold for, so if you're wanting to collect them, that should be pretty easy and inexpensive. The characters I was able to find include: Many Stars from the Great Plains, Tulu from Alaska Territory, Lian Ying from 1878 San Francisco, Sarah Turner from 1878 Nebraska, Rachel Williams from 1893 Chicago, Bridget Quin from 1899 Boston, Jennie Cooper from 1905 Sag Harbor, and Christina Merovina from 1911 Philadelphia.

So, I never had an interest in the 16 inch scale fashion dolls, especially ones from Tonner. A main reason for that is that the dolls are just too big for me, and honestly, I'm just not a fan of the 40s aesthetic that Tonner dolls seem to have. But, it was sort of a sad occasion when Tonner as a company closed down cuz they were such a mainstay of the collector doll community for so long. So when @dolldirt asked me if I wanted this Tonner Wicked Witch doll I knew I had to have her, if only to be more acquainted with something I've seen from only afar, plus she's green. Her dress is made by @andreadollsahoy https://www.instagram.com/p/COii0_hppf3/?igshid=hzi5vjkxqes

Well here's something weird and doll related that popped up on my radar today. So there's this rather Infamous unaired Wonder Woman TV Pilot from 2011 (something I always knew of but didn't know much about until I saw a video on it today), in this version WW's Secret identity of Diana Prince is more Bruce Wayne than usual as she runs a big company called Themyscira Industries where funds her crime fighting operation through said company via sales of Wonder Woman Merchandise.
Their biggest seller is the Wonder Woman Action Doll. There's a Scene where a meeting discussing the launch of a new doll is happening, and Diana is upset about how well endowed it. The weird thing is I'm 99% Sure the doll used is one of the Tonner Wonder Woman Dolls. I appreciate the use of an actual official wonder woman doll for this prop but I just never would've expected to see a tonner doll used as a tv prop doll.
