For the OC Outfit Doodle thingie *rubs hands maniacally*
Raina: 👗 OC in something from the 50’s Aisling: 💃 OC in some radical 90’s clothes Alyra: 🎭 OC in another OC’s typical attire
Bonus:
Darcy my beloved: 👍 OC in a crop top - giving us some "I'm with the final girl in a slasher movie from the 80s so who's watching knows I'm doomed from the get go, but if I have to get killed off, I'm going out with style u-u" vibes ✨
*pant* DONE! It's been a wild ride and I'm allegedly having too much fun with this meme and I LOVE 50s FASHION. I received a zillionth asks and I love you all.
sling already had a 90s outfit but I had to do another one... Explanations under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raina: 👗 OC in something from the 50’s
I had the doubt of dressing her in a very puffy, new look gown which she would absolutely HATE... But then I realised. Raina is Rizzo from Grease. I didn't do it on purpose but... Switch "girls" for "guys", and "There are worse things I could do" is her song. So, the purple shirt is Rizzo's. It had to be done.
Aisling: 💃 OC in some radical 90’s clothes
Punk, but make it colourful and avoid black at all costs. If Sex Pistols had their graphic in neon yellow and pink, she can skip black. And the Lisa Frank-style crop top.
Alyra: 🎭 OC in another OC’s typical attire
Anders somehow convinced her to try his robes on and see for herself that they're comfortable. She disagrees. She can't move and also fur pauldrons? Seriously?
Darcy: 👍 OC in a crop top
The comparison is terribly spot on. He's a Jotunn, his real name (Fjolvarr) means "The Cautious One". Ghosts in Old Norse lore are evil and malevolent, he doesn't trust them. He's the last surviving one because he just didn't go to the cellar to check that noise. Didn't go into the woods to take a stroll. Avoided 99% of dangerous situations. Now he's alone, unscathed, everyone around him has died, he has no idea what was it, and he's 2m buff Frost giant full of anxiety. (but with his favourite crop top.)

Yo! Could i request Sidon and/or (you choose!) Link with a gen z human reader who ended up in their world for some reason? The reader is literally the embodiment of chaos and does stupid shit 24/7, quotes memes and vines and stuff.
I just wanna see them confused why this generation wants to ⚰️🤪 so bad GAJAGAKAGAJAH.
Yoo I'm alive :D I really don't have an excuse, only writer's block ig
Also, I learned how to put the read more thingy, why nobody told me about that?????
Oh yeah the hcs,
Both is good
Sidon and Link dealing with a Gen Z
Tumblr media
Sidon
He just kinda saw you walking around the Zora region and took you in, kinda surprised on how you even survived
This actual himbo of a Zora doesn't understand a single thing you're saying
He's such a gentleman, but your way of talking just immediately confuses him
But sometimes you just,“Where... Am I again?”
“the Zora region” and you looked even more confused, something that took Sidon off guard, like, alright it's fine that the Zora region right now sucks but it's not unknown, the hole city shines in the night
How can you even ignore the BIG ANTHROPOMORPHIC SHARK JUST WALKING AROUND LIKE IT'S A NORMAL DAY??????
He was so confused on how you looked so puzzled over this
You just had to tell him, because if you didn't, he'll just think you're crazy
Of course, you told him that you're just from another dimension, the guy already has some kind of depression, we don't need him to have an existential crisis, at least one that'll just shut him down
He takes his sweet time to process and will help you to go back home
Of course, this won't be easy, you have to stay in the domain
And everyone thinks that you're a Hylian, and you know what? I think that's better for now
If you even try to talk to the elderly Zora, you will get insulted
Of course, you ain't scared of some crusty ass fish
You'll have a full discussion with anyone that'll try to insult you and won't hesitate to throw hands
Oh but "go and buy fish from the store to eat.... Yeah not happening, instant freeze, no way you're doing it
Look at the good side, you're good friends with some of the younger Zora
You actually manage to become friends with Sidon, he likes your energy... Still confused about what are you talking about, but he tries
Of course, he's the prince, he grow up in a environment that requires him to be really polite, he learned manners, everything he has to know about any other Kingdom and everything about rich people blah blah
But you are a barely middle class and to be honest, for the Zora, you might as well be poor asf gremlin child that has let loose with no supervision
Of course, he's more than nervous every single time you talk with King Dorephan, he's sweating i don't think the Zora can sweat, but you get it
You might fuck up, but you know, he might brush it off as “just young people stuff”
I swear, you get injured so easily that he wishes that he had healing powers just like his big sister
Even for dumb stuff and without you realizing it!
You will be fucking bleeding and Sidon will be like “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!?!!!”
“nothin' don't worry about it, i had worst”
“WHAT”
You seem to be attracted to absurd stuff... Or that's how he calls it
It's been time he has tried to show you some Zora stuff, your either mumble “fucking rich people....” or say “sheeesh this is worth a department on New York or almost a house”
“Your houses are quite big isn't? You could buy some with this I believe”
“Some of them are, but other that are smaller? They're just fucking expensive”
“..... How do you even live?”
“I have no fucking clue”
The rain still continues, Link is taking his sweet fucking time...
"OKAY I SWEAR TO GOD IF THIS RAIN DOESN'T STOP I WILL GO TO VAH RUTA AND STOP IT MYSELF”
“Please don't, you don't even know how to hold a bow properly”
“WATCH ME”
“What are you doing?”
You go outside and look straight to the sky
“STRIKE ME DOWN ZEUS YOU DON'T HAVE THE BALLS!” and almost immediately a lighting strikes somewhere close to you
So close in fact your soul almost leaves your body, Sidon sees all of this and thinks you're in fact, cursed
“..... See? You don't have the-”
“Alright it's enough, whatever you made angry you have to stop”
This himbo is now you're babysitter, no, you cannot change my mind
Also, you, of course, don't like Muzu and he doesn't like you
And every time, every time, you'll get in a heated argument on each other's perspectives, he'll call you brat with no manner's and you'll say to him any kind of insult you can think on the moment
“You're a merely a bratty child that their parents have no care to teach you even the simplest of things, or perhaps you were just unable to understand them”
“You- FUCKING GROSS AND DISGUSTING FISH I HAVE EATEN SUSHI AND I AIN'T SCARED OF DOING IT AGAIN”
Even if they turned out so random that everyone doesn't even know if you two are fighting, only can guess because of the screaming
Sidon had to break out the argument and take you somewhere else, not before he reprimanded Muzu for his attitude with a guest
No, you're not getting away, he also semi lectures you, he can't help but to laugh every time he has to repeat your insults
The moment Link arrives to the Zora domain, Sidon is ecstatic, Link is very confused on what the fuck is happening, but you know, happy to help. Sidon tries to explain to the best of his capacity to Link your situation, after what felt hours of Sidon trying to say the right word, Link seemed so unamused and that just confused Sidon even more.... You know what? You're now under Link's care..... “What”
Link
Tumblr media
After that, you try your best to get to know Link, what he likes and dislikes, what is he interested in, etc
Making friends is not your forte but you quite get along with Link
Normally, Link before the calamity is a quiet, put-together young guy, preferring to not show any emotions whatsoever
But after the calamity and the whole memory loss??
He's a chaotic mother fucker
Well, mostly he is quite put together when he talks to people, but when adventuring
You can see him killing time like killing a lot of octorok, getting the balloons and just sending something flying
Or infiltrate bokoblin's camps using nothing but a mask
Or just cooking amounts of food that you could serve in pre-calamity castle town and everyone could have a plate and they'll be some food left
Basically, he gets weird everytime he's bored
After you leave the Zora region, he asked you if you could fight
“I only know how to grab properly a sword"
“great, let's start from there”
He tries to train you
Good news, you can hold your own against some bokoblins
Bad news, you still suck, because your limit is like three normal bokoblins and Link helped with one
You most definitely weren't born to be doing this much exercise, and you absolutely haven't done this much in your whole life
It's that or you know everything about how to use a sword, a bow, everything because... You can get so invested with stuff
Good for you, but I'm projecting so f*ck you/j (not the projecting part tho, I swear I can be athletic... I just need a little bit)
Actually, there was once this time that you Link was trying to figure out where to go, you saw some bokoblins and decided that, somehow, it was a good idea to go and attack them
“Why did you do that?! You could have died!”
“That's the point!”
....
“/j?”
“WHAT EVEN IS /J?!?!!”
After that uncomfortable situation, you proceeded to explain what it meant and all of the tags
He was, to say the least, very confused and it took him a whole day to understand
There was this one time when you went to Kakariko, Link was trying to talk some matters with Impa
But your little gremlin brain decided that it was a great idea to grab a cucco and just do a parade with them
The cucco was not happy, at all
And when Link found out he was.... How do I explain this?
Confused, amused and a lot of stuff more but he was not surprised
He really doesn't know what to do with you, but he does find it kinda fun

People you'd like to get to know better meme thingy!
3 Ships: JD/Veronica, Beatrice/Wirt, Conan/Ai
Right now i've gotten sort of back into Heathers, been wanting to watch the movie again but college is a bit more important to me right now lol. Been reading jd/veronica fics recently though. Love me a "I can fix him", "i cant be fixed" dynamic.
And with beatrice/wirt I did like them when OTGW aired, but only recently have I really enjoyed them.
And Conan/Ai of Detective Conan, two highschoolers having to survive as kids. I love their banter and extended knowledge of everything.
First ship ever: ermm first thing that comes to mind is JohnKat from Homestuck.
Last Song: Had to look at my listening history and its video game soundtracks,,, so the last actual song is Here With Me by d4vd.
Last Movie: Watched The Adam Project with family a couple nights ago. Its a fun little time travel adventure.
Currently Reading: My financial accounting textbook. …as well as two fics right now. Always Room for the Living by Iced_Coffee_Please, and in the middle of If You're Lonely Press Play universe by @pixiestickers (who tagged me woo yeah!) (I dont usually read books anymore. Last book i checked out from a library was more than a year ago…)
Currently Watching: wow like nothing. Last I watched was OTGW a few weeks ago. Oh yeah I'm watching The Office as well, but that's on hold for right now.
Currently playing: I have Stardew Valley open in another tab right now lmao. I'm playing Omori sometimes as well.
Currently Consuming: I made myself some scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast.
Currently Craving: some water right now.
I tag @pandykae, @mihamihoku, @shadowsportrait, @wont-stop-biggering annd @n-emone

wow, people actually know I exist??? especially when it's the person you really admire????
thank you so much @estcaligo for the tag!!💕✨🌸
1. would you be mer, a beastman, a fae, or a human? (or other!)
as much as i love to live in the sea, i would rather be a beastman instead✨ its mentioned in ruggie's chats that beastwoman are a lot stronger and are often the ones who do the huntings.
they're so strong that leona and ruggie avoid getting into their bad sides.
and that makes me go "hell yeah, i wanna be buff like jack 💪✨"
Tumblr media
2. would you be at rsa or nrc?
most likely in nrc. my soul is tainted with darkness and evil that nothing could ever repel it.
3. what dorm would you belong to?
with my crippling anxiety i would be in ignihyde. that's it.
oh and i took the dorm sorting thingy and i got ignihyde which made me shit my pants of how accurate it is—
4. what character(s) would you be best friends with?
im not really a social butterfly type of person and rather spend most of my entire day inside my room so i'll probably vibe with Idia more due to our introverted nature and same interest in video games
and also cater so we could send each other stan twitter memes around 2 in the morning and gossip daily about celebrity dramas.
5. what character(s) would you hate?
*sigh* sebek.
now i don't actually hate his character at all but if i ever met him in real life i would absolutely DESPISE him.
listen, i love his waka-sama too but with his loud boasting and bragging about him and saying that i suck cuz im human is just—
Tumblr media
like boi aren't you human too 🤨🤨🤨
but he's also the same guy that i would have a crush on cuz he's cute and his voice lines in the game are just— 💕💝❤️💕💝❤️❤️💝💕💝❤️💕💝❤️💕
Tumblr media
6. what character(s) would you date?
i don't really see myself dating anyone in nrc (also im probably aromantic but still questioning) but i would date my man azul out of everyone 🥰🥰🥰
i think azul is a traditional type of guy, the one who's in-charge of the relationship.
i don't like the idea of my partner carrying all the load but at the same time i leaned more to the submissive role of the relationship.
so yeah, i choose my octo boi 🐙
7. what would floyd's nickname be for you?
still shrimpy cuz im short 😔
8. and rook's?
idk man mademoiselle creator of art i guess??? or some art related nicknames.
9. what twst character(s) are you most like (personality-wise)
idia is just me but minus the brains the handsome face 😔
10. which subject(s) do you think you would excel at?
if i suck in science and in pe in real life, then there's no way im gonna excel in alchemy and flight.
so i think i'll be great in history.
11. what club would you join?
im no musician but I WOULD DIE JUST TO JOIN THE LIGHT MUSIC CLUB (or pop music club whatever)
they don't really do anything much other than eat snacks or chat and i want to chill with the music bois
and if we're gonna perform i'll just play my little kalimba.
12. how do you think you would survive in twisted wonderland/what would your life be like in general?
i'm an emotional trainwreck so at some point i will overblot in my life. whether I'm at school, work, in the sea or sand, wherever and whenever— it's gonna happen to me.
if somehow i survive my overblot, i guess i'll be fine. if I have great friends and family who will support me and if i put effort into everything and i think I'll be alright.
13. [optional!] what would your unique magic be?
honestly this is giving me the same problem i had with "what's ur bnha quirk?!?"
since i chose beastman in the first question, i thought it would be funny if my unique magic is being a 'copycat'.
like i can copy everyone's unique magic and use it as an advantage to find what's their strongest and weakest points.
or if we're tasked to battle as a team, i can copy one of my member's unique magic so it doubles our power and defense. it's really helpful especially if they are powerful.
Now @eemerald-eyes @eriange @dovechil its ur turn ✨

Boys Planet, Episode 6 Recap Part 2a: Gang and Zoom
Tumblr media
Ok, team! It’s time to recap the first two performances of the second challenge mission: Gang (or Ggang) and Zoom. Let’s do it!
We pick up at 1:07:14 with a brief montage of the boys rehearsing.  I know most of ya’ll can’t read Korean so I’ll help you know who said what, especially since often who we see onscreen isn’t who is talking:
D-7:
Na Kamden: “It was a bit difficult this time. For real.”
D-6:
Choi Woo Jin: “Everything was all mixed up in my head.”
Park Hanbin: “I wasn’t sure if I could do a good job.”
D-5:
Yoon Jong Woo: “It was pretty tough for me.”
D-3:
Park Hyun Been: “As though I’m burning the last passion I’ve got without regrets.”
D-2:
Na Kamden: “The most impactful performance in the history of these programs ever?”
Keita: “We’ll create a legendary performance…”
D-1:
Chen Kuan Jui: “...that people would want to see again.”
Finally, it’s D-day! Crowds are lining up around the block, holding up signs and stuff. The boys are getting ready. The 95% female crowd files in, and they are all Kermit-meme level crazy and shrieking like banshees. That’s fun! I bet they had a great time.
Tumblr media
The boys come in, in order of rank I assume, led by Sung Hanbin and Seok Matthew, who are holding hands.
The judges are again sitting on folding chairs in that room with the single small window with the broken blinds, which I assume is on Minhuyn’s space station. I can’t get over how the producers don’t even give them a table, so the judges have to keep their clipboards in their laps. Poor Solji wore a short skirt and has to keep her knees super close together the whole time. My inner thighs are tired just thinking about it.
Tumblr media
The judges pretend not to know who the host will be, but it’s still Huta from BTOB, who informs us that only 28 trainees will survive the next elimination.
Then he explains the live voting system. It’s a bit different this time. The audience members were each given a thingy dingy with two buttons, A and B; Huta say that they can press the “A” button if they think the team did well, and the “B” button if they think the performance was disappointing, and do the same for each trainee. So instead of voting for a favorite, the audience members basically vote pass/fail for everyone and everything. If I were in the audience, I’d be of no use to anyone in terms of assessment because I’d just wear out the A button.
In any case, it’s Time to Shine!
1:11:41 Gang by H1GHR Music
This is spelled onscreen as 깡, which is better transliterated as Ggang, as opposed to 강, which would be Gang. The little symbol top left is the K/G symbol, and see how there are two of them in 깡 and only one of them in 강? Just your little Korean lesson of the day. The on screen translation on Viki says that “ggang” sounds like the word for “guts”, which is 끈기, or Ggeungi. I guess it sounds similar, sure.
As the camera pans around, we keep seeing a trainee in glasses and a light green sweater that says Serenity on it, and I was like, who is that -- and it’s Jung Mingyu, better known as “Red House”! Wow, that’s a different look.
Anyway, on to Gang!
I’ll remind you that these are the members of the gang:
Trainee name (rank)   Star Level test / Challenge 1 /age final star level
Kum Jun Hyeon (14) Nunu Nana / Backdoor - K /19 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lee Seung Hwan 🍑(20) Mirotic / Danger - K /22 ⭐⭐⭐
Mun Jung Hyun 🧁(23) The Real / Very Nice - K /17 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lee Jeong Hyeon (39) The Real / Love Me Right - K /20 ⭐⭐⭐
Chen Jian Yu (45) Call Me Baby /Back Door - G/ 24 ⭐
And Lee Seung Hwan 🍑 is their leader. I use a peach symbol next to his name partly to help you remember who I’m talking about, and partly because I think he’s just peachy.
Tumblr media
Left to right, that is Chen Jian Yu, Lee Jeong Hyun, Mun Jung Hyun, Kum Jun Hyeon, and  Lee Seung Hwan.
So, is stylist noona angry at Lee Seung Hwan🍑, or….? Because those sparkly MC Hammer pants are a choice. An incorrect choice. On the other hand, his hair and makeup look amazing.
Tumblr media
Normally, the host will talk to the leader of a group, but this host talks to my little cousin Kum Jun Hyeon. Then again, I think Kum Jun Hyeon would have answered even if the question had been addressed to someone else.
Huta says, “I heard that the atmosphere was not good when this team was first formed.”
Kum Jun Hyeon yells, “When we got Ggang, I was perplexed. I thought of the opportunity as a crisis.” He almost certainly means that he tried to think of the crisis as an opportunity, referring to that old chestnut about the same chinese character being used for both words, but he gets the order wrong and it ends up not quite meaning what he meant.
And, at 1:12:52 we head into flashback mode. Woobly woobly woo!!
As we recall from earlier in the episode, their whole deal is that this team is mostly people who got kicked out of the song they wanted. Since no one really knew how to make choreo, my little cousin Kum Jun Hyeon stepped up, yelling, “Although I can’t guarantee the quality, if I didn’t do it, I didn’t think anyone else could do it.”
Ok, this team has a Jun Hyeon, a Jung Hyun, and a Jeong Hyeon, so I’m going to call them by their family names -- Kum, Lee, and Mun🧁, the latter of whom you may recall is my little muffin.
So, Kum has in fact stepped up to choreograph! That peach, Seung Hwan 🍑, says of Kum: “Jun Hyeon is always shouting, and he says ‘moe moe kyun,’ that’s who he is. But when he started creating and practicing the choreography, I saw a new side of him.”
We see what he’s talking about -- Kum is taking it really seriously and seems to be doing a good job, not being satisfied with it until it’s perfect. We also catch snippets of his singing and it’s really good, which is something that’s so easy to forget about my little cousin, that he’s actually a really good singer as well as a good screamer. It’s cute to see Kum completing something and being proud of himself.
Tumblr media
In fact, late at night in the dorms, Kum is still yelling about the choreo with leader Seung Hwan 🍑. He’s thinking about the choreo, yells that he needs to go to sleep, then lies down and keeps doing the hand/arm part of the choreo. Awww.
But I had to show this screen shot to point out a few things.
The matching pajamas are gone. Whence did the pajamas originate, and whither did they disappear?
Kum has given up on sheets, which is such an 19-year-old guy thing to do.
Seung Hwan has a stuffy of a yellow duck or chicken, as well as a very dapper set of pjs.
We cut to the big trainee-self-eval day.
Tumblr media
Basically the Ggang group does a great job. The rapping and dancing are all great, and people especially compliment the “two-jung-hyuns”. The phrase refers to Mun Jung Hyun 🧁and Lee Jeong Hyeon, who are both WakeOne trainees and who will likely (I hope???) debut in the same group as Kim Tae Rae 💖and formerly-blue-haired Park Hanbin.  I mean, seriously, just debut, you’re already perfect. Anyway. Mun and Lee apparently are good friends, but it’s awkward for them since Lee is super talented but ranked pretty low (39) while Mun is ranked 23. Aww.
Lee is really great too -- all five members of The Real were near perfect in my opinion (including the already eliminated Park Min Seok, who gained a ton of fans as leader of the Burn it Up team but just couldn’t quite get up to #52). I think the thing about Lee is that he’s just great so there’s no… hook? He’s great on stage, he has all the skills. He seems like a nice guy who everyone likes. And he’s good looking in a way that if you think he’s good looking, you’ll also think that a lot of other trainees are good looking. Meanwhile, Mun🧁 is sort of distinctive looking, so you remember his face later. A face like Mun’s or Tae Rae’s is sort of polarizing, I guess -- but at least it’s memorable. Lee could absolutely be the visual member of a group, and yet, it’s by looking for Tae Rae and Mun that you’ll recognize the group when you see it. At least that’s my take on it.So yeah, Lee Jeong Hyeon, I think you’re great and I am so looking forward to being a fan of your group once it debuts. Fighting!!
Seriously, the WakeOne group is the one I’m looking forward to most out of all of this, which is why I keep talking about it. Imagine, the five trainees I mentioned -- Mun, Lee, Tae Rae, Park Min Seok, and Park Hanbin -- plus possibly Haruto, Anthonny, Min, and Cha Woongki. Right? That’s fucking STACKED. You have a main vocalist, many capable lead and sub vocalists, some excellent rappers, some amazing dancers, and 100% lovable fellas. I want to just end the show now and start stanning that group.
Ok, anyway.
It’s show day. The boys are back stage doing some pushups before the set, so that their arms and abs will be tired and sore, I guess. Someone in the audience shouts out, “Thank you for giving birth to [Kum] Jun Hyun!” Somewhere, his mother yells, “I didn’t have much choice in the matter!” We also see a young man in the audience -- I think -- holding a sign for Mun 🧁.
At 1:16:52, the performance begins. They introduce themselves as “Korean Chipmunks,” which is hanguk daramjwi, which kind of sounds like “hundred dollar bill”, which is a recurring lyric in the song. (You hear it, sorta, when they chant their team name.)
The performance
Link
Original song
Apparently pH-1, the extremely alkaline rap judge on Boys Planet, is one of the rappers on this song, which the show never mentions once. Weird.
Since the boys wrote their own lyrics, I really did care what they were saying, and since the show didn’t give us translations, I had to look them up. These are the translations I found for the rap parts -- they’re a three way blend of several different sources, along with some of my own translation, but my main source is a Reddit post I found.
🍑Seunghwan:
It reeks of cowards in here
Even if I’m not invited, today I’m a VIP
I wonder if he’s going to die after I pushed him
No need to go back and forth, I’m dogged Hey!
Lee Jeonghyeon (there’s a lot of word play in this verse):
Hit it and go to the top, No cap (no lies) woo,
Too fast. too fast, brake, Step on it more like it’s broken
Turn and flip over the falling numbers, Starting from the bottom there’s only up,
Chill, like back when I was a kid, Keep it in your heart, Peace
🧁Mun Junghyun:
Yeah the next unexpected start, It’s our time to receive their will
It’s different from the time when I was ignored
Because I’m ready to carry on the will of those who left
We know how to go higher (Higher)
My heart is burning like fire (Fire)
To go higher you need modesty, passion, and style
Kum Junhyeon:
Give me a song to sing, I don’t want to rap, I’m scared of how I’ll look in the gang, stage I’m whoo…
Jianyu:
Sometimes cute, sometimes sexy, There’s something to get from here
Look at how I can make you scream with my skills, here I am alone
You know I don’t wear no new (shoes)
So you know how hard it is to get what I want, shut up
Tumblr media
My take
This was never going to be my favorite performance of the rap and vocal groups because it just isn’t my favorite song. It’s not anyone’s fault -- it’s totally a matter of taste. But overall, this was good. Yeah, some of the dancing was a little un-synced up, and some of the moves were a little boring, but it ended up looking fine. I wish I could appreciate all the word play and other poetic elements, but I can’t, so  I’m not able to really analyze the quality of the rapping. But in terms of delivery, I think that 🧁Mun stood out a bit. I also think 🍑Sunghwan did great as the center. It helps that he’s the most “manly” looking. And every time I hear Kum sing, I am surprised anew at how nice his voice is. I understand why he wanted a song to sing, and loved that that was his “rap.”
Semi side note: So, I was watching the performance, and at about :37 in, when Mun is in the center, the team does this sort of fall-sideways-down thing, and I said to myself, “self?” I said, and I answered “yes?” and I asked, “Was Kum on the team Very Nice?” As an extremely unpleasant person in my asks pointed out, he wasn't, and I had just thought he was because hours of staring at my screen making these recaps made my vision blurry. But whether he was on Very Nice or not, that exact fall-sideways-down move in Very Nice, so, that’s where Kum got the idea. Please don’t mistake me, I’m not criticizing. If people could never repeat a dance move ever, we’d have run out of dance moves ages ago. He found a good place to put that move and make it work with the overall routine. I just thought that was kind of interesting, to be able to trace it back like that, given that Very Nice has such a different feel overall.
(Also, I do welcome feedback if I make a mistake! Just be nice about it, is literally all I ask. If you've never said anything kind to me, please don't start our conversation by being mean. I feel like that's not too much to ask, right?)
I did notice Chen Jian Yu in the back having trouble getting up with the rest of the team after they all fell down. Aww. In fact, he was kind of behind the team a lot. Must be hard to try to keep up with this mostly very well trained team.
Ok, this bit in the middle, where Kum puts sunglasses on upside down and lifts up his shirt to reveal fake abs, I mean, it’s not my sense of humor, folks. Sorry.

I bet a lot of people enjoyed it a lot and I appreciate his enthusiasm. If you really enjoyed this, feel free to message me. I assume some people did, right? I hope some people did. It’s just not for me, and I found it slightly irritating, the way I find a lot of what he does slightly irritating. That’s why I call him my little cousin -- he’s irritating but I kind of love him anyway, the same way I love my irritating little cousins. Like, can you NOT, you little shit? But also, come over here and let me give you a hug and $10 to spend on junk food-- don’t tell your mom.
I’m tender hearted and want to give everyone a passing vote. If I were forced to press B (disapprove) for one of them, it would have to be Chen Jian Yu, who as I noted, seemed to struggle with some of the choreo. But I’d press A for all of them if I were allowed, and overall, the team earns an A for approve from me.
The editing
The MNET editing is pretty kind -- it doesn’t focus too much on any mistakes, and mostly seems focused on making the four Korean members look good.
The judges applaud, and LipJ throws down her clipboard in approval. They call out 🍑Sunghwan the most, but also appreciate Kum’s performance.
The voting
We cut to backstage, where the boys all hope they come in first. Kum yells that he’s expecting first place, and 🍑Sunghwan says he expects that too, but it’s Sunghwan who comes in first, with 700 points.
Tumblr media
And poor Kum feels dumb for having thought he might win. Aww. We’ve all been there, sweetie! The audience voted for the sexiest one, not the funniest one. That’s how it be.
The team does a final cheer for itself, and Chen Jian Yu accidentally bumps Kum in the face.
Tumblr media
This is just not his day, huh?
They don’t tell us who scored the lowest on this team.
We end with 🍑Lee Seunghwan, who says that he expected Kum to win, but he’s thankful for coming in first. “I don’t know what the final result will be, but we made a great performance together. I’ll remember our team as a team that brought out miracles.” Aww, you really are a peach.
1:21:55 Zoom by Jessi
Huta introduces the next team, and they come out, looking real…
Tumblr media
…. “urban”?? Is that what we call this style?
God, the stylist noonas must hate them. I mean, can we all agree that idols shouldn’t wear shorts?
Mini rant:
Tumblr media
Poor Xiumin. Stylist noonas are like, “We’ll make Xiumin look awful so that the other boys will look better.”
Tumblr media
Obviously, Chen is one of the most beautiful men on the planet, but here from the waist down he looks like he’s made of assorted whole fruit shoved into a pair of opaque beige tights. It’s not his fault. WHAT WAS THIS? STYLIST NOONA, WHY? Why do you hate Chen? Why do you hate all of us?
Anyway.
Tumblr media
So, here is Keita’s team, dressed like “what if Peter Pan’s Lost Boys got lost in the year 1991” and they’re going to put on an amazing show because they’re a great team. Sorry, I should say, “they’re a great team, yo!”
I’ll remind you that these are the zoomers:
Trainee name (rank)   Star Level test / Challenge 1 /age final star level
Keita (8) Conduct Zero / Kill This Love- G /21 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Haruto (16) Glitch Mode / Love Me Right - G /18 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ollie (28) Kick It - G / Hot Sauce - G /16 🚫
Wumuti (43) UN Village / Love Me Right - G /23 ⭐⭐
Park Hyunbeen (49) GBTB / Hot Sauce - K /17 ⭐⭐⭐
The judges are confident that Keita will carry the team.
Haruto tries trash talking, but he’s too cute for it to work.
Flashback time.
You may recall that they made Keita the leader, and gave the killing part to Hyunbeen, who wants it so desperately that it made me worried that the judges were going to tell his team to give the killing part to someone else. Let’s see if I was right!
Park Hyunbeen is working as hard as he can on his dancing, but knows he still might be lacking. At the big group evaluation in front of all the other trainees, everyone is excited to see that Hyunbeen has the killing part, and overall seem to really like the performance, especially Keita’s part. But then Hyunbeen goes blank and forget the lyrics and choreo -- oh no!
Afterward, the feedback is mostly good, but there are some harsh words for Hyunbeen, including this: “I don’t know why Hyunbeen has the killing part -- the other team members are much better.” Ouch! Oh no, is my premonition going to come to pass?
Tumblr media
Hyunbeen talks it over with Wumuti, saying that he is worried he’s dragging the team down. Wumuti is honest and says that he himself wants the killing part too, but asks, wouldn’t you be upset if you lost it? Hyunbeen is also mostly honest and says that it would upset him. I say “mostly honest” because the real truth is, I think, that it would devastate him. Hyunbeen isn’t really fully equipped to deal with this show, emotionally. I think most people aren’t, to be fair.
The next day, the boys talk in their training room about whether or not to replace Hyunbeen. Keita asks the team, “if anyone thinks the killing part should be replaced, raise your hand.” There’s a dumb momentary cutaway to the D-day stage, and we see that Hyunbeen is still the center. We go back to the meeting, and see that the boys trust Hyunbeen and want to let him keep working on it and keep the part. He’s grateful and vows to work harder.
The Performance
The lyrics I found online are:
Haruto (mostly in English)
Ay yo lookin at me? Probably wondering what's it like to be me
Just like all the wannabes, keep on talk talk
I’m your boss boss  Out of your league  Sorry you’re Not even close
Wumuti
Baby I was born with everything Do you know what “Know your place” means?
Don't hold back and call me Wumuti-ti-ti  It’s not that hard, then follow me
Keita
Back on the stage ready microphone check, Spit out a word and turn a page right away
Guess who's the best, It’s about time, I’ve been stuck studying since When I was 13
Never, You can’t, An unexpectedly talented guy, Without a break, I hit your ears good
Do or die, I’m abnormal when I hit the stage
Now everybody knows me, get out of the way
Ollie (mostly in English)
Get out of the way I’m from the Outer space, Just arrived, Want me out your face
I have no time to lose, so Listen close, Oops never mind Ollie Wonka gotta go
Park Hyunbeen
We gotta go and Kill this track, My braggadocious just gets bigger and bigger
I’m gonna change my Category, Heads, shoulders, knees, toes Swag check
Ooh geez, Everybody say cheese
Tumblr media
My take
Well, this is great. I watched it a bunch of times and enjoyed it every time. First, I just really enjoy listening to their version of the song. The original song has good bones to work with, the arrangement works, and their vocal performance really enhances the material -- so much so that I added their version to my current playlist. But it’s also fun to look at -- their choreo and stage vibe are energetic and fun and expressive, without being cheesy in a bad way. My one negative is that it really kind of grossed me out that Wumuti was eating a lollipop a lot of the time. Just this gross sticky thing in his mouth while he's singing and dancing, that he then throws on the stage where someone could step on it? No thanks. Yuck.
That aside, I liked listening to the song enough that I figured I might as well watch some of the fancams, and doing so really made a few things more obvious. One obvious deduction is that Ollie did not belong in 0 stars, ever. He must have had a breakdown or something the day of the final Star Level test and performed to an uncharacteristically low standard. (That, or he had serious issues with the Korean lyrics.) Seriously -- he’s such a natural on stage. He’s always having the best time and really executing well, with so much charm. I’m not sure he’s 100% there yet but he’s already a lot of fun to watch. On an unrelated note, I’m fairly confident at this point that Ollie speaks English better than he speaks any other language, unless someone can tell me I’m wrong on that. It really seems like English is the language he defaults to.
Keita’s performance is great, to the point that you might watch the fancam more than once, as long as you’re emotionally prepared to look at him in that fucking hat for almost 3 minutes. Haruto also -- he’s such a great dancer.
I really enjoyed their rapping too -- it helps that a lot of it is English, to be fair. They each brought a different personality to their rapping, and all of it was fun. I liked Haruto’s flow, I liked Wumuti’s sing-rap style, I liked Keita’s power and precision, I even liked Ollie’s cute talk-rapping for whatever reason. It actually kind of gave me Del Tha Funky Homosapien vibes. Stage presence wise, I think Hyunbeen was a little weaker than his teammates, but not in a way that made him or them look bad. I mean, the only thing that made them look bad was their outfits. Seriously, zoom in, camera guy so I can’t see their legs. Then zoom out so I don’t have to see Wumuti’s hat or offputting shiny thing on his lower lip.
The editing
When it comes to the performance itself, the MNET editing is extra irritating, but also extra kind -- we gets lots of reaction shots of the audience loving it and all the trainees dancing along, along with tons of unnecessary instant replays. They also don’t show Haruto’s awful ending fairy that’s on the youtube video, and that’s all for the good. The performance edit makes everyone look good, and that's rare on this show.
But I wish we knew more about how the boys actually made this track. The sung vocals are clearly re-recorded -- that's not a ding on Wumuti, who sang live as well and sounded great both live and pre-recorded. But when did they record this? To what extent were they involved in the production of the songs in general? How long were they in the studio, and who directed them? I also really want to know who actually wrote the lyrics. Did they each write their own, or did they help each other? I’m asking this now of this team but I should note that it applies to all 12 performances.
Also, to what extent were they involved in the staging? Did they pick out their outfits? their backgrounds? And whose idea was it to have those flashes of light on stage with the first two drumbeats, so that it looked like Hyunbeen had sort of "bounced" the other trainees up onto their feet? That had such an impact on the performance because they started so well and had some room to coast from there. So, whose idea was that? I can imagine a world where it was Keita’s idea, but it also could have been the producers’.
The pre-performance package -- the flashback of them preparing for the stage, etc -- is so focused on Hyunbeen that almost no time is spent on what the team actually did to prepare for the show. I know that the show hardly ever really tells us how any team actually prepared, but it bugs me.
The voting
You know, from the start of this series, the judges basically have never stopped talking about how good Keita 🔥is, and this is the first time I really, really got to see it. I really get it now. He’s as good as you would want an already debuted idol to be, and that’s saying a lot, especially on a show with a few other debuted idols who aren’t 100% up to his standard. So when they get their score, it’s not really a surprise to find out that Keita 🔥won with 736 points.
Tumblr media
It’s really easy to tell who cherished hopes of winning themselves, and who knew Keita was going to win.
It’s also not a surprise to find out that Park Hyunbeen is (a) the worst on the team but (b) also pretty high scoring, with 656, only 80 points lower than Keita (and only 44 points lower than Sunghwan from team Ggang). Hyunbeen was just “really great” on a team full of excellence. That’s reflected in the scores.
Speaking of scores, what’s up with finding out the last place score as well here? For the first group, they only showed the first place score, and here it was first and last places’s scores. I guess they had to show Hyunbeen’s score to finish his storyline.
I really wish they would tell us all the different scores, and I assume that the reason they don’t tell us all of them is that it doesn’t work with their narrative goals in some way. As an example, imagine that Wumuti got a score of 730. Imagine how it would look if we at home just watched that long segment about Park Hyunbeen and then Wumuti scored only a few points lower than the winner. Wouldn’t it be weird? Like, wait, since when was Wumuti important on this show?
Well, since Keita 🔥came in first and was the leader and all that, surely we’ll hear from him about how proud he is of his team, and how honored he is to come in first place, that kind of thing, right? Oh no, wait, we don’t. We just hear from Hyunbeen again. He’s proud of his performance and thanks his teammates.
To be clear, I don’t dislike Hyunbeen. Not at all! I think he’s a good performer and a sweet kid, and I think he has a ton of potential and I’m excited to see where he’ll be in a few years. I just don’t think he’s ready to debut, emotionally as much as anything else. Also, we could have been spending time with Ollie and Haruto and Wumuti and Keita 🔥too, getting to know them better, seeing how they felt about things. And we didn’t get to do that. It’s a bummer.
So, that’s the end of this part of the recap. Thanks for reading! The next one will be about Home and Love Killa!
And if you’re enjoying the recaps, please share them with other folks :) Thanks!

yes no maybe?!
For the WIP ask meme! yes no maybe (my obrashir post canon thing)
"So," she says at length, then, sliding the sliced up cutlets into the pan and pouring the eggs over before covering everything with the lid. "Have you given it some thought?"
"To what?" he chuckles awkwardly. He adores Keiko, but God, she can be hard to read sometimes.
"About joining us." She's looking directly at him now, licking a bit of raw yolk and sauce off her finger— if she was anyone else, Julian would assume she's being flirtatious. But this is Keiko, and her husband and children are in the room next door playing with Piggy the targ and Nerys the hara kitten.
"Uh, I don't follow."
Keiko sighs, then moves over to the sink to rinse off the cutting board. "I think it would be nice if you and Miles had sex," she says almost absentmindedly.
Choking on his spoonful of sauce, Julian grips the counter and coughs into his shoulder before turning back to Keiko, wide-eyed. "/What?/" "What 'what'? Like you've never thought about it— ah, be a dear and get the rice bowls ready, yes?" For a second Julian just stands there in front of the O'Brien's kitchen aisle like a deer in a tractorbeam, unsure if he should be more shocked by Keiko's words /or/ the absolute blatant casual tone of voice she is using. "Julian," she says impatiently, holding the pan off of the heat. "The rice." "O-Oh, of course," he mutters and finally moves. During dinner he can't quite manage to look at her - he chalks it off to the kids being present, to the katsudon being absolutely delicious. And later to the wine they're having when Yoshi is in bed, laughing together as they reminisce about old times on the couch until Molly dozes off on Julian's shoulder and almost empties her half-empty glass of orange juice in his lap.
When Miles carries her off to her room, Julian politely finishes his drink, still avoiding eye contact. "It is getting late. I suppose I should call a skimmer to the hotel..." "No, please," Keiko starts with a glance at Miles' back disappearing in the doorway. "I'm sorry for earlier, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Julian looks at her incredulously. How else had she expected him to react? "I don't think it would be appropriate for me to stay the night, Keiko," he speaks awkwardly into his glass.
"We /do/ have a guest room." He can't help but be curious. "Did you /talk/ to Miles about this?" Keiko holds his gaze. "Not yet. It was just an idea." "/Your/ idea?" She nods, smiles and puts a hand on his arm. "Nevermind. Please stay the night, Julian. Miles would be devastated if you didn't. And the kids..." "I'm sorry," he says at length, but brightens up when Miles returns— cheeks flushed healthily even if he likely isn't drunk at all. "I'll see you two in the morning alright? Breakfast at nine o'clock? Shall I bring anything? There's a lovely little bakery down the street by my hotel, they've got those crispy tart thingies that—"
"You're leaving?" Miles asks breathlessly. "But what about the guest room?"
"Miles," Keiko chides knowingly. "I'm sure you two can manage to be apart for a mere twelve hours, considering you've survived spending the past seven months on opposite ends of the quadrant without issue..."
Julian looks from her to Miles, then back to her. "Ah, Chief. Keiko's right. And I'll be staying for an entire week as well. There's nothing to worry about."
"I'm not worried!" Miles complains, but his protests fall on deaf ears.
Calling for the skimmer is easy enough, and Julian spends the time it takes for it to get to the O'Brien's beautiful house in the Peruvian countryside helping with the dishes and awkwardly standing in the kitchen fiddling around with the potholders Molly crotcheted for Miles' birthday.
Keiko hugs him tightly, and Miles looks like a sad, wet dog when he waves goodbye over the threshold.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Julian grins at him.
"Yeah," Miles says like Julian's going to disappear back into space for another few months. "Tomorrow."

I have come to face a realization from an extremely strange source about the world we live in, the media being created around us
So get ready for a nonsense, all over the place rant, while I'm feeling woozy af and forgetting where I'm going with most of my thoughts
Let's go
So, I was browsing YouTube as usual when I'm procrastinating, when I decided to click on a specific video. Nothing special, a horror game story analysis and explanation, basically a summary of what happens. I watch those sometimes to get a grasp for a game or just don't feel like sitting through hours of playthroughs
The game in question? My friendly neighborhood
Spoilers for the game from this point on btw. I don't know how to use the site to tag properly but you've been warned
I've seen it float around, watched some gameplay of it when the demo came out
Seemed like the usual mascot horror. You know the type. Dead people, creepy toys coming to life, trying to survive them etc. So at first I was just like "did the kids or crew get to possess the puppets this time"
But it wasn't anything like that
The puppets are alive. Not in a possession way, but just, living creatures with thoughts and feelings and ideas. That was the first thing that caught my attention. "No dead kids in a mascot horror game? That's new" I thought. So I kept watching the summary and the more information got revealed the more I realized something
This game wanted to say something
And say it did
Through the use of the horror genre, it didn't just subvert expectations from a story perspective, it made it's own stand, it said something it wanted to
Not about how people and workplaces are horrible, how murdered people seek revenge, not about a hopeless escape or a struggle for survival
It said something that I haven't seen in horror games in so long
It said something about hope
It said something about kindness
It said something about how, if people can learn to be good again, hopeful again, to smile again, we could be happier
And, for me, it was shocking, coming from a mascot horror game
And then, I scrolled through YouTube again, and saw the same thing that happened on the tv on My friendly neighborhood
Negativity, bad news, hopeless outlooks and searching for the bad in everything
Admittedly, I know that's probably my fault, cause the algorithm works like that
But considering how most of those, I had no previous interest in, how those came from other corners of YouTube
I can make a safe assumption that that happens to a lot more viewers than not
And not just that
Every time I scroll down the Google news thingy, even if I'm only ever clicking on memes or gaming news, it's still full of the negative, hopeless gunk that at this point I just ignore and scroll past
Only for those to pop back again and again, from different sites
I stopped scrolling through news for that reason
And even in films and shows
The very things that supposed to provide us with escapism
They show broken worlds, hateful people
I cannot for the life of me watch an "adult" film or show anymore
I couldn't put my finger on it for years, until this game made me realize how much of what I have watched showed the broken world, leaving bitter people that rely on themselves and push everyone away as a "good" thing
How a lot of them showed that caring for another is stupid and pointless because you will always be betrayed by those you love
How the world cannot and will not help you, even if you cry and beg for a sliver of help
A sign of hope
Call me childish, but when I want to have fun, my idea isn't to watch another fucked up world fucking up people. If I want to see that, I can look out my window. I can stare my family in the face, to feel utter hopeleness and loneliness in a broken world, as I know they will never love me as I am
So yeah
I stopped watching that too
But the negativity is inherently in everything nowadays
Every day, there's new YouTube drama in my feed, there's a new show about an unwinnable fight where you should give up and learn to leaver everyone behind, where you have to be afraid of everyone's intentions, a new person "proving" that there is no goodness left in humans
But then comes My friendly neighborhood, and says "you know what? Screw you. We can scare you without making you feel hopeless for the future of humanity. We can show you, that even in a broken world, there is hope and kindness and that's what makes people happy and good and life worth living" and it's completely right
I don't live when I'm just surviving on junk
I live when I see my partner smile, when I see my gush about his training, when I read the snippets of a book my friend is writing. I live when I tell them how proud I am, when I help them carry a bag, when I tell a joke to brighten their mood. I live when I am kind. I live when I am in a community, when I give help, and when I know I can ask for it when I need it
I live when I'm playing overdramatic to make people laugh, because their laughter gives me hope, and brings light into a world with barely any left. And that's what makes life worth it
Not sitting alone and wondering what xyz's intentions are when they offered to give you a ride hope, not being wary of the stranger who said "have a nice day", not consuming media that makes me feel alone and untrusting, not when seeing how people "turned bad", not when I hear news of the world rotting
Those have made me the farthest thing from alive
Those have made me think "I should always avoid people, just in case", "I should learn how to beat people up, just in case", "I should never say a word about anything, just in case someone will backstab me" or on worse days "According to these facts, if I stopped existing, it would be better"
Not exactly the best things to think, when you always hear about how one product in your house is inherently evil or how you not screaming on the streets and getting shot for something you believe in is "not enough", or just constantly hearing how everyone else is horrible
How the girl wearing makeup is a bitch
How that boy with muscles is an asshole
How those people playing card games are useless gamblers or gatekeeping assholes, depending on the game
How that chick is a golddigger for sure and how that guy is also one
Without ever getting to know any of them
Because that's what we're being shown
I bet you've had specific images of people you have seen on tv pop up in every single example
That when you look at people on the street, you put them into these categories yourself
I can't blame you
That's what you're given by everything around you
But don't forget to get to know them, before you truly make a judgement call, okay?
Because maybe that person just needs someone to talk to
Or maybe they're going through stuff you'll never imagine
Or you might be right
But you will never know
And trust me, talking to people with kindness, making them smile, it will guarantee that the world, even if just for a second, is a brighter place
And if you are kind to someone, they will probably also be kind to others. Or they will learn with time, when the world is too kind for them to remain an asshole. When they will feel out of place for being a jerk or being called out for constantly bringing others down
With kindness, there is strength needed, and not just physical
And I think My friendly neighborhood expresses that element nicely
Gordon is a war veteran, what he's carrying is not easy to face, yet when he can help those around him, when he helps the puppets, he has to look his past in the eyes and say "it will be alright, I know what it's like". Of course he isn't healed magically, but it shows a strength needed to be kind to those who need it
And I love that in the game
It does something that many don't dare anymore
It dares to show hope
You know, it ironically reminded me of dark souls
Now, stay with me here
Game is known for difficult boss fights and minmaxers and memes, right?
Cause I never hear anyone really discuss its themes or a critical element, the very reason why the game is even possible
Hope
The game shows the power, the will, the strength needed to chase for a sliver of hope that the world can get better
In the world of tragedies and monsters and dying and undeath, the game always tells you, that you never truly turn into a murderous zombie, as long as you have a will strong enough to hold onto your humanity. The hope that you might be someone to keep the fires burning. Because wether that's a good thing or bad, is not the point of that strength. You don't fight for the "good" or "right" thing. Most don't even care. Because what matters is that you, and by extension, your character, has a strong enough will to hold on till the end, a reason to keep on fighting
For another example of this, look at Solaire, who as far as I know, is a fan favorite. He is the definition of kindness, of hope, of always looking for the light, literally or figuratively
It of course is set in a world where you can't trust everyone, like patches. But it also shows the beauty of the world, the good, the things worth fighting for
My friendly neighborhood does something similar, but in a more clear and hopefully way
Of saying that the world itself can heal if people learn to be kind again
And I think that's beautiful
And something we have so little of anymore
In a world where even our media is growing hopeless and bleak, a horror game of all things, giving hope for a better world, for living happy, for trusting in people yet again
It's truly inspiring
I just wish we had more hopeful things like that in every corner of the internet, of gaming, of tv, of the world itself
No one wants to die a bitter, old person
And the knowledge that we don't have to, is the truest power we have against it
Have hope y'all
Be kind
Learn to love instead of hate
It will get you to a happier place in life
And happy is one of the best things you can be

@bukojuiice + todoroki — the puts her emotions on a sleeve and doesn’t express his emotions pair. julie is like his soft cottagecore gf and you can visibly see the softness and care shoto holds for her.

@ch0s0 + choso — they give pinterest couple vibes tbh, theyre super casual and just fun to be with all around tbh, he definitely makes playlists for her because that’s the best way he can show his affection without saying it and goes out of his way to get her embroidery supplies even if he ends up getting the wrong things AJSJJS
@pockydays + kuroo — mmm they fit each other so well. kuroo definitely has heart eyes for her, and silla is just like tossing him bad puns and he’s giving her those bad science puns JSJSSJ and they’re just perfect for each other?? they’re always teasing each other as well LMAO
@denji-core + yamaguchi — they understand each other so well! they probably met during class, maybe they were passing notes to each other and just instantly hit it off. it took them a while to actually get together, but once they were they were always with each other. comfort couple <3

i like the 3rd Tinkerbell movie (The Great Fairy Rescue) because:
Tumblr media
1: it’s about the fairies and humans that are bonding with each other (Tinkerbell and Lizzy in this case)
2: Lizzy get to know about fairies (let’s be honest who doesn’t have it’s fantasy about things as a child?)
3: it involves Tinkerbell’s friends more (well expect Terence since he’s off-screen in most of that film expect the first 5 minutes and the last minute)
4: before even watching the movie i was rather more surprising then anything else but it’s about Vidia’s redemptions (i was in shock seeing the trailer but it was all answered after i watched this movie)
5: i grew to like Vidia in this movie (i used to disliked her and the younger me thought she was always gonna be mean, cruel and a bully, ironic isn’t it? me thinking that low about Vidia it’s so funny the opposite happens then what i thought)
6: speaking of ironic we can’t forget about Rosetta with the mud after Vidia heard Rosetta saying she won’t do any mud, Vidia pointed that Rosetta is supposed to be a garden fairy, and that’s where her meme is coming from, “ironic isn’t it” (i won’t forget Rosetta’s meme in the 3rd movie) 7: speaking of memes, Silvermist asking who’s alive after she saved everyone including herself with the waterfall (who can forget about the “who’s alive?” meme?)
8: Vidia risked everything and has most of the adventures out from all of the characters (rains, thunders, wet wings, mud, waterfalls, attacked from a cat and even risked her own live saving Tinkerbell while being seen too and she survived all of that, the only thing she possibly had to give up was once she got stuck in the jar and didn’t had her way out anymore but it’s thanks to Tinkerbell she turned out to be fine, i kind of started to feel sorry for Vidia when she was almost killed)
9: i love how Vidia stayed calm throughout most of the movie even if she DID sounded annoyed (i mean she wasn’t so cruel she didn’t killed anyone or anything, the only actual thing that almost got out of hand is the arguements with her and Tinkerbell after Vidia slammed the door on Tinkerbell and even asked her in an irritating way she’ll never learn about this “you just don’t know when to stop do you?” before she saw Lizzy from a distance trying to get Tink out of the house)
10: i found it hard to believe at first but Vidia actually REALLY does cares about Tinkerbell in that movie (she was the first one outside Terence that warned her about humans, she knew for a fact Tink was about to go to that human house and asked her about it in her own funny sarcastic ways, “hold on little miss spare parts, you’re NOT going near that humans house ARE YOU?” before the others flew up especially iridessa who grabbed Tink’s hands and answered her questions, not just that, Vidia sees Tink going there, she follows her, she called Tink’s friends for help she blamed herself for what happened after the others maked fun of Tinkerbell’s anger issues especially Rosetta who copied her, everyone laughed about that expect for ironically......VIDIA! and at near the end of the movie she sacrificed herself FOR Tinkerbell, and she begged Tink not to do dangerous things under the car they were hiding at earlier from humans)
11: funny how Vidia stayed calm when they all had to walk on feet to get to Tinkerbell in that humans house (i mean Vidia get up and calmly tells the others “looks like we’ll be walking from here” and she if all fairies knew which way to go, you expect her to be all frustrated but she didn’t, yeah only the mud part but all the other walking on foot not since she stayed calm in this whole movie with the rain)
12: i love how Tink’s friends takes actions in like each scenes they are in with Vidia (and eventually Tinkerbell, Silvermist with the waterfall, Fawn with the cat and that shoes thingy, iridessa with bending light to get Vidia out from the mud, everyone definitely helped with the boat, mud and the humans part to throw pixie dust at Lizzy and eventually the dad too, before even releasing Vidia they all flew closer to the big human)
13: at the end of it all, Vidia didn’t wanted Tink to get killed from humans, i can tell by her guilty look and her not trusting the dad (they weren’t on friendly terms at that time till the end of the movies, not only did she tried to get Tink out from the little house, she also felt so guilty for what happened thinking Tink had already died and obviously the jar part when she noticed what that human dad was just about planning to do with Tinkerbell since Vidia ended up being seen too and get caught from the jar instead too when it was supposed to be Tink in that jar)
14: i love when it’s showed some bad guy DO change for the better from their mistakes (the producer did an amazing job doing that to Vidia since it’s showed very well)
15: it shows that not each humans are bad when it comes to bonding with the fairies (Lizzy is only 9, i remembered me believing Sailor Moon and the others were coming to save me from bullies when i was her age back in 2006, i’m 24 now but kids are full with fantasies and stuff so let kids be kids and live with their fantasy, besides Lizzy took good care of Tink when Vidia called everyone for help to set up a rescue for Tinkerbell)
16: i love that Tinkerbell cared for the butterfly it let the butterfly go (but after that Lizzy got to the blame instead, i hated the human dad because he was so mean to Lizzy by not listening to her almost the entire movie, till he almost released Vidia)
17: Vidia was obviously scared seeing the butterflies that were pinned up in display cases and believed the same thing was gonna happen to Tinkerbell, and EVEN saw how Tinkerbell got hurt and got attacked from a cat since she saw everything from the windows (she even informed the others about all of this when they arrived at the house before that same cat attacked Vidia and the others)
18: Terence showing Tinkerbell around the fairy camp is REALLY cute! (right after the opening but right before Vidia showed up to Tink)
19: speaking about that handsome Terence, HE SAT NEXT TO TINKERBELL at the end of the movie
20: Tinkerbell ignoring Vidia’s annoyance is really funny, it’s like she was super unaware Vidia was being rude to her and even looked around under the car
21: i was surprised Vidia didn’t got angrier with Tink nor did any harm compared to the 1st movie (Vidia started talking too when Tinkerbell tried to help Vidia to get her wings dry instead of saying no or saying she’s doing fine, infact she even said Tink shouldn’t make any more disasters, “Tinkerbell, maybe if you spend less time causing disasters, you wouldn’t have to...help everybody so much”, and then said “Hmm the truth hurt doesn’t it” and even telling her she’s not carry that humans junk back to camp)
22: it’s hilarious how Tink and Vidia response with that fairy house that are made by humans (Tinkerbell who wanted to explore around while Vidia tries to get her to leave from coming closer to the humans house, it never gets old with that discussions whatever they should or shouldn’t go to the humans house or humans in general)
23: Tinkerbell and Vidia became friends at the end of the movie (i highly doubt if these 2 became friends in any other circumstances but i’m glad all these dangers happened in that movie as evil as it mind sounds, or else Vidia won’t be able to think differently about Tinkerbell since she thought so low about Tinkerbell at first especially the 1st movie, she was more meaner in that 1st movie then this movie)
24: they let their rivalry and the past go and forgave each other obviously (there is without any doubt it was all on Vidia making more effort to make amends with Tinkerbell and she has already forgive Tinkerbell then the others realized, even Tinkerbell herself who possibly thought Vidia abandoned her when in reality she was only away to get the others to help)
25: Tinkerbell risked being hit from the car to stop the car from working by saving Vidia (Tink nearly got hit but she was doing fine and she was able to stop the car from working)
26: Tinkerbell and Vidia hugged each other for the first time before the others joined in (even Clank and Bobble)
27: speaking from huggings, Lizzy and her dad bonded greatly in that scene too, and FINALLY he listened to Lizzy
28: i liked the picnic scene with Tinkerbell and Vidia at near the end of the movie (i loved the picnic scene in general)
29: i loved the panic part with the gangs when they all arrived in the house when there was a cat in the house
30: it’s funny how Clank was holding that wheel thingy and Vidia asked him where he has found it (of course he couldn’t answer as the absent-minded person and looked confussed aswell and just simply answered he has found it on the ground, ironic isn’t it? i mean Vidia was the one looking around and picked that wheel up while earlier with Tink she put it all on the ground, not wanting to carry that human junk there but she end up picking it up later and happily announced the others knowing where they all are)
31: i love how Tinkerbell teached Lizzy everything about fairies, even writting a journal about it to learn more about it
32: i love how Lizzy’s dad read that journal book out loud right infront of Tinkerbell and her friends (even Vidia who was sitting on that book, Terence catched up with the others aswell, even trusting her to do the right thing)
33: Vidia was the only one that didn’t talked crap behind Tinkerbell’s back and even answered their questions about her
34: i love how Vidia explains stuff
35: i love how even Tinkerbell wanted to save Vidia and warned the others about her being captured from that big human dad and the others had to take actions AGAIN! (however Tink knew a way to get to Lizzy’s dad to save Vidia in a short time and they all threw pixie dust on Lizzy and helped her with the jacket)
36: i love how Lizzy’s dad finally listened to Lizzy and right his wrongs to Lizzy and released Vidia afterwards
37: Vidia won’t give up hope to get to Tink
38: everyone forgived Vidia and Vidia did the same to everyone (not just Tinkerbell obviously and it explains a lot why they wanted her to be a member so badly aswell since she’s included in further movies and even get involved with Tink well beings and Vidia befriended the others aswell)
i think that’s the thing i love about that movie, it’s my 4th favourite movie because it includes Vidia’s redemption and comes to her senses about Tinkerbell, but i also love how the humans and the fairies bonds with each other
i just wished Terence was included, and in the unofficial trailer, the minister of summer was involved, where is she?
and oh what will Queen Clarion think of this all? and Fairy Mary she’s the leader from the Tinker fairies, didn’t she noticed or heard anything about Tinkerbell?
other then that i like this movie!!!

A Comparison of RTD and Steven Moffat: Saving The Day
So for this analysis I’m going to compare when Moffat and RTD save the day well and when they save it poorly. There are a few bits of criteria I need to explain.
First I will only be including main series, no Torchwood, no spin-offs, and no mini episodes.
Second, I have to define what makes a good and a bad ending (my examples will come from episodes written by neither of them):
Bad endings include when the sonic saves the day (see The Power Of Three) (there are exceptions, see below), when a character spouts some useless technobabble that doesn’t make any scientific sense/when it doesn’t make logical sense in general, when the Doctor invents/presents a machine/equipment that miraculously stops the baddy and is never referred to again (see Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS), and any other ending I deem to be bad (see The Vampires of Venice)
Good endings include when the sonice activates a device that has been well established to save the day, when technobabble is used that actually makes some scientific sense, and just generally when the baddy is destroyed in what I deem to be a creative manner that makes sense with all the things that had been set up in that episode (see The Unquiet Dead).
There will also be cases where there isn’t really a day to be saved, however this happens more often with Moffat.
Let us begin (obviously there will be spoilers but the last episode in the list aired nearly 4 years ago so what you doing with your life).
RTD:
Rose: Bad
What even is anti-plastic?! Like seriously, he’s faced the Autons loads of times and has never thought to use it any other time.
The End Of The World: Bad
The Doctor just goes up to the appearance of the repeated meme (ha meme) and rips its arm off. He then just summons Cassandra back by twisting a knob which apparently everyone can do if “you’re very clever like me”.
Aliens Of London/World War Three: Good
Just nuking them all was a bit dodgy but I’ll give it to him purely because it had been set up earlier in the episode and it is a genuine option that could have been taken.
The Long Game: Good
The heating issue was set up within 2 minutes of the episode starting. It’s always good to see the Doctor using his enemies weakness against them.
Boom Town: Good
Only just. It’s technology that hadn’t been showcased ever before and came out of nowhere, but I’m allowing purely because it was setting up The Parting Of The Ways.
Bad Wolf/The Parting Of The Ways: Good
See above. It was set up the story before so it works.
The Christmas Invasion: Bad
This was so close to being good. If RTD had just let the Sycorax leader be honourable then everything would have been fine. Instead he had to let him be dishonourable and then the Doctor through the Satsuma at a random button that for no apparent reason caused a bit of floor to fall away.
New Earth: Bad
It only makes sense if you think about it for less than 10 seconds as just pouring every cure to every disease ever into a giant tub and then spraying said supercure onto them all, then having them hug each other to pass it on. That is suspending my disbelief just a bit too far.
Tooth And Claw: Good
Everything is set up in the episode so I’ll allow it but I fail to see how Prince Albert had the time to ensure that the diamond was cut perfectly.
Love And Monsters: Bad
It’s Love And Monsters. Need I say more?
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday: Good
It was very clearly set up throughout the episode.
The Runaway Bride: Bad
I don’t like how a few bombs can supposedly drain the entire Thames.
Smith And Jones: Good
All the events were well established
Gridlock: Good
It’s a fairly bland way to save the day, just opening the surface to all the drivers. But how else could he have done it?
Utopia/The Sound Of Drums/Last Of The Time Lords: Bad
As much as I like the idea that he tuned himself into the archangel network, he basically turned into Jesus. It is arguably the least convincing ending in modern Doctor Who history.
Voyage Of The Damned: Bad
Why was he the next highest authority? If he’s the highest authority in the universe why didn’t they default to him in the first place? If not then why not default to Midshipman Frame? And if he’s somehow in between them then why? Also Astrid killed herself for no reason when she easily could have jumped out of the forklift.
Partners In Crime: Good
It works in the context of the episode, but I don’t see why they needed two of the necklace things.
Midnight: Good
It’s human nature, you can’t get more well set up than that.
Turn Left: Good
It works logically
The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End: Bad
Donna just spouts a load of technobabble whilst pressing buttons and then the Daleks are magically incapacitated.
The Next Doctor: Bad
Why do the infostamps sever Hartigan’s connection with the Cyberking? As far as I remember it ain’t explained.
Planet Of The Dead (co-written with noted transphobe Gareth Roberts): Good
A good couple scenes are dedicated on getting the anti-gravs set up.
The Waters Of Mars (co-written with Phil Ford): N/A
The day isn’t really saved cause everyone still dies anyway.
The End Of Time: Good
Using a gun to destroy a machine is much better than using the sonic to destroy it.
Summary for RTD:
Out of 24 stories written by him, I deem 10 to be bad endings with 1 abstaining. That’s 41.7% of his episodes (43.5% if we don’t count any abstaining).
Steven Moffat:
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances: Good
You’ll see this a lot with Moffat, he knows how to explain things without stupefying levels of technobabble. “Emailing the upgrade” is a perfect example of this.
The Girl In The Fireplace: Good
Some basic logic, the androids want to repair their ship, but they can’t return to it, they no longer have a function so they shut down.
Blink: Good
Always loved this one, getting the angels to look at each other, however they do look at each other sometimes earlier in the episode.
Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead: Bad
This is more of a problem with the setup of the episode, I don’t like that he can negotiate with the Vashta Nerada. I’d rather see them comprehensively beaten, but I guess it’s good for the scare factor that they can’t be escaped from.
The Eleventh Hour: Good
He convinced the best scientists all around the world to set every clock to 0 all in less than an hour. In the Doctor’s own words “Who da man!”
The Beast Below: Good
The crying child motif pretty much ended up saving the day (well for the star whale, life went on as normal for pretty much everyone else).
The Time Of Angels/Flesh And Stone: Good
The artificial gravity had briefly been set up earlier so I’ll allow it.
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang: Good
Everything had been set up perfectly, the vortex manipulator, the Pandorica’s survival field thingy, the TARDIS exploding at every moment in history.
A Christmas Carol: Good
Literally the entire episode is the Doctor saving the day by convincing Kazran not to be a cock.
The Impossible Astronaut/Day Of The Moon: Good
The silence’s ability to influence people is their whole thing, so using it against them is a good Doctory thing to do.
A Good Man Goes To War: N/A
The day isn’t really saved, Melody is lost, but River shows up at the end so is all fine? I love the episode it’s just the day isn’t really truly saved (yes I know Amy was rescued but she still lost her baby).
Let’s Kill Hitler: N/A
There isn’t really a day to be saved. They all get out alive but no one is really saved other than maybe River but we all knew she was gonna live anyway.
The Wedding Of River Song: Good
Whilst opinion is divided on the episode, the ending still works. the Tesseracta was established in Let’s Kill Hitler, and the “touch River and time will move again” was established well in advance.
The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe: Bad
I don’t like how the lifeboat travels through the time vortex for no reason but to rescue the dad. It don’t make no sense and I don’t think it’s explained
Asylum Of The Daleks: Good
Oswin had access to the Dalek hive mind so of course she should be able to link into the controls and blow everything up.
The Angels Take Manhattan: Good
Paradoxes really do be something powerful, and they even acknowledge how nobody knows if it’d work so I’ll let it slide.
The Snowmen: Bad
Lots of people cry at Christmas, why are the Latimers anything special?
The Bells of Saint John: Good
The whole episode is about hacking so why shouldn’t the Doctor be able to hack the spoonheads
The Name Of The Doctor: Good
It was the story arc for the season pretty much, so of course it was explained well in advance.
The Day Of The Doctor: Good
Both the storing Gallifrey like a painting and the making everyone forget if they’re Human or Zygon works in the context of the episode.
The Time Of The Doctor: Bad
Since when were the Time Lords so easily negotiated with?
Deep Breath: Good
I like the dilemma over whether the half-face man was pushed or jumped.
Into The Dalek: Good
It’s set up well with this new Doctor’s persona of actually not being too nice of a guy (at first).
Listen: N/A
There isn’t a day to be saved. It’s just 45 minutes of the Doctor testing a hypothesis and I low-key love it.
Time Heist (co-written with Steven Thompson): Good
It works logically so I’ll allow it however it isn’t very well set up at all.
The Caretaker (co-written with noted shithead Gareth Roberts): Good
The machine to tell the Blitzer what to do was set up well in advance so I’ll allow it.
Dark Water/Death In Heaven: Good
The fact that Danny still cares even as a cyberman is set up fairly early on after his transformation.
Last Christmas: Good
He does use the sonic to wake up Clara but he convinces the others to wake up through talking so I’ll allow it.
The Magician’s Apprentice/The Witch’s Familiar: Good
It’s set up well with that little scene from actually inside the sewers.
The Girl Who Died (co-written with Jamie Mathieson): Good
IDK why the vikings would randomly keep electric eels but they’re set up well so I’ll ignore it.
The Zygon Inversion (co-written with Peter Harness): N/A
Not including this one as it’s only the second part and I’d argue the ending is most likely Harness’.
Heaven Sent/Hell Bent: N/A
Again there isn’t really a day to be saved, yes Heaven Sent really is amazing but it’s only the first part and, being completely honest, he dies several billion times before finally getting through the wall.
The Husbands Of River Song: N/A
Again there isn’t really a day to be saved here.
The Return Of Doctor Mysterio: Good
He gets Grant to catch the bomb which is good. But he does just sonic the gun out of Dr Sim’s hand and says UNIT is on its way which just sort of wraps it up very quickly.
The Pilot: N/A
No day to be saved here.
Extremis: Good
You could technically call it the sonic saving the day, I consider it to be the Doctor emailing the Doctor to warn him of the future.
The Pyramid At The End Of The World: Good
The fire sanitising everything makes sense and it’s in character for Bill to love the Doctor enough to cure his blindness in return for the world
World Enough And Time/The Doctor Falls: Good
Yes it is the sonic just blowing the cybermen up, but it’s blowing them up with well established pipelines so I’ll allow it (also the story is amazing).
Twice Upon A Time: N/A
No day to be saved here. Just Doctors 1 and 12 getting angsty about regenerating.
Summary for Steven Moffat:
Out of 39 stories written by him, I deemed 4 to be bad with 7 abstaining. That’s 10.3% of his episodes (12.5% if we don’t count any abstaining).
Conclusions:
Moffat was much better at saving the day than RTD
Moffat liked telling stories where the day didn’t actually need to be saved
I’ve spent way too long on this and I need to sleep
If I spent as much time on this as my coursework I’d probably pass
If you’re still reading this, you probably need to get a life

would you class percy as a morally grey character? i’m really interested to hear your input
Anon 2: Would u class percy as an Morally Gray character?
Hey there! Let me write that essay for you about morally gray Percy ^^
It’s not about whether Percy is a morally gray character or not, it’s about he has to be otherwise the story doesn’t make any sense. At least for me it wouldn’t.
Ashley (@gr33kg0ds) said in the tags of my dark!Percy post something along the line of people diminishing Percy’s character because they need him to be pure and fluffy and I wholeheartedly agree with that!
Just because Percy’s twelve doesn’t mean he’s pure and didn’t do unproblematic things. I’ll mostly refer to The Lightning Thief because that book is the Magnus Opus for Riordan and perfectly stands for Percy as a morally gray character from the very beginning of the saga. (Also the only book I’ve recently re-read)
As much as I love fanon with all the amazing artworks, debates, memes and jokes, analysis, cool edits and wonderful fanfics, projecting your version of Percy doesn’t make the image in your head real. Percy in canon is not the fun and fluffy boy you imagine him to be or which social media sites (Reddit, Twitter, Instagram and yes, also Tumblr) tend to make him to be. He’s a scrawny little sarcastic twerp that was the unpopular kid. He isn’t that cringy dude Tony Lopez doing that fucking weird TikTok dance (side note: I don’t even know who this person is and I don't care, I saw the video and immediately wanted to delete every social media app on my phone, so thanks Tony?), kissing his Yeezys goodnight, vibing to our lord and gay icon Taylord “T. Swizzle” Swift song and flexing them iPhone 11 Max Pros. Percy literally said that going to Burger King with his mother once in a while would be considered a luxury. He’s a poor bastard in literal sense.
Part of the problem with the distinction of Percy’s character and his motives stem from the fact that Percy is a sneaky unreliable narrator and we as the audience (especially if you’re younger) don’t question most of his behavior if you even question some (pretty sure that most of us only picked up weird stuff as adults). Everything seems plausible to you. But does it mean that his behavior is necessarily good? Something that would paint his character as good?
Like I’ve said, let’s take a look at TLT. The very beginning of everything and the wonderful line that gets quoted everywhere: “Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood”.
The very first line that quoted everywhere or used as in moodboard and edits but its meaning and significance get brushed off for the most part. It immediately sets the tone and the atmosphere for the book and for Percy as a character. A(n in my opinion) morally gray character. The very first thing we hear from Percy is that he doesn’t want to be in this world. He’s an involuntary participant who has been (upon further reading) blackmailed and forced into this world and is only cooperating to get his mother back and said in regards to his father (who also stands for the Greek pantheon) ”well yeah, would be nice to know about my dad but I’ve survived without him the past twelve years so I don’t know, he wouldn’t be missed necessarily I guess?“ That pretty much tells you, it foreshadows, that we will be dealing with someone with grit, someone that fights back, someone that went through shit, someone that isn’t a goody two-shoed character. Does it mean he’s a terrible (in the sense of evil or bad) character from the get go? Not really, but it tells you in nuances that he won’t be the white shining knight you might expect from a fairy tale.
There is so much that little Perseus Jackson has to offer you directly in the first book. So much that paints him as a morally gray character. From the illegal candy stash all the way to tricking Procrustes into his own trap. He knows right from wrong and isn’t innocent by any means. He wants you to think he’s innocent. Yes, he hunts monsters and the book also tells you that some adults (Gabe) can also be monsters, but Percy’s personality is so interesting and full of facets which I love! He’s misleading you on purpose. Deflects, plays events down. He lies in front of you to others but you don’t really doubt it. Instead of questioning it, you understand it.
What distinguishes Percy from other male protagonists in that notion that the author doesn’t try to paint him as particularly good (the reader connects the dots, in reality) is pretty much that. Percy is neither inherently good or bad. He’s in the middle. He does lots of questionable things and his personality adds to it. Something that immediately comes to my mind is his lack of fear of consequences. He thinks in the short term and not in the long term. Of course, he’s caring about those that are close and important to him (Grover, Annabeth and his mother of course. And well. The world not getting destroyed by his weird father and fucking crazy uncle would be a plus). But Percy isn’t really a strategist (yet). Look at the Medusa head thingy. Annabeth and Grover warn him, that he’s gonna get his ass beat and he doesn’t care. That these gods could squish him in the end didn’t matter to him.
The Olympian gods are painted as these unpenetrable huge mighty force and some fuzzy annoyed twelve year old dipshit sends them the severed head of a monster - but not any monster, the monster his father had a role in creating (well, Athena for the most part, but you know what I mean). (Also, I know this kinda reckless behavior gets sorta rewarded but at first, everyone was like ‘NO, NO, NO!’ before Percy was glorious with his attempt). Percy essentially tells these ancient forces that drive the way of his new cosmos how shit‘s gonna work from now on.
Percy isn’t fear riddled and doesn’t think about the possible outcome. He manipulates, he lies, he persuades and all of this as soon as he hits twelve. But probably earlier. Pretty sure he had to become a believable lier in order to trick (survive being around) Gabe. Perseus is angry, he’s agitated. Had Riordan written Percy as a soft spoken, frightened, goody two-shoed kid, almost nothing in TLT and the follow-ups would have made sense. He’s the outcast, but slowly blossoms into the strength and muscles of the group. Of the entire camp. Someone that outsmarts opponents and wins battles. But he didn’t do that by playing nice and being a bootlicker.
TLT would’ve been a perfect standalone book that would have emphasized that Percy is an involuntary person sive) if you skip Kronos, leave a little bit foreshadowing with the prophecy out, tweak the talks with the gods and Annabeth’s first meeting and skip Luke and the scorpion at the end. The ending would’ve been “and so Percy had a first awesome summer vacation and found a group of friends for life” or so (aka PJO movie 1 in less shitty and more cohesive).
The morally gray character shrinks a little bit in the SOM because there lie straighter dangers ahead which dive more into the bigger picture and Percy grows more into the character who takes care of friends and but he does come back with TTC, and definitely BOTL and the St. Helens explosion.
Consequences of Percy’s interactions had people partially dying. There is doubt, there is guilt. But the show must go on. There are battles that have to be won. There is no big giving up, no big overturn for the bad guys.
Also... isn’t it interesting that we start with Percy saying ”look, I don’t want to be in this world“ in TLT and it ends with TLO where he says ”for once I didn’t look back“? The full circle? The way that accepting his fate took five books? To change Percy from being an involuntary participant to becoming voluntary? He didn’t want to be a half-blood, he didn’t want to be the kid in the prophecy, but he actively chose to be in the end. He went from a darker shade of gray to a mayhaps lighter, if you want to say so.
To conclude, I repeat myself again: it’s not about whether Percy is a morally gray character or not, it’s that he has to be.
Thanks for asking me about some meta stuff I really do like diving into these things here and there. Tumblr’s sorta glitchy, I do get notifications but I really don’t see asks, so I’m sorry if my response is mad late ^^

Fic Writer Meme
I saw @cicaklah post this and wanted to try :) 1) How many works do you have on AO3?
17 currently - 14 fics, 2 pieces of fanart, and 1 how-to guide thingie. I’ve been writing/posting for less than a year and a half, though, so there’s much more to come!
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
196 767.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
6 for fics, 7 if you count fanart. They are mostly for video games, ‘cuz that’s how I roll:
- Octopath Traveler
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Legend of Zelda
- Persona 5
- Chrono Trigger (fanart)
And two non-game fandoms:
- Violet Evergarden
- Drawfee RPF
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1- Adrift in the Ocean of her Eyes by a large margin. My first and only fic to surpass 100 kudos as of yet! I almost didn’t finish it after I kind of stalled on it and was unsure whether it would be redundant in the fandom, but I’m so glad I did because people seem to love it.
2- A World of Knowledge Awaits, which as a crossover appealing to two fandoms, doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.
3- Sins of the Father, which I put a ton of work into, and I’m so glad it resonated with people.
4- Someone Strong, my very first baby fic! My initial foray into fanfic writing, spurred on entirely by the fact that my OTP was exceedingly underrepresented, if not entirely absent, from the Octopath Traveler fandom. I am a one-person H’annberic cheerleading squad, and I will *never* put these pompoms down! (FYI, I typoed ‘squard’ instead of ‘squad’ at first and almost left it that way. Squaaard!!)
5- A Cleric’s Quandary, based on a completely silly idea, so it was really fun to write!
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do, indeed! I love getting comments, and I always want to at least acknowledge them even if I don’t have anything profound to say in return. But if someone replies back to my reply, then I may not always add more if the conversation feels complete, ya know?
6) What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Ooooh, definitely What the Heart Wants. (Spoilers ahead) The reader is left unsure about whether or not the protagonist survives.
7) What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Probably Someone Strong, because it was my chance to write the story of H’aanit and Olberic’s relationship, and I wanted to give them the whole happy ending of a wedding and a baby on the way. Of course, it wasn’t the *ending* of their story, per se, given that I have a whole series of fics about them, and I’m not done yet!
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?
Only one so far, so it is by definition the craziest. Persona 5/Octopath Traveler, which isn’t even that crazy considering that it’s canon in Persona 5 that characters can enter an alternate universe using an app on their phone, so....
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I am lucky not to have received any hate, which I am very grateful for, but then again, I haven’t been at this for all that long, and I don’t get huge views either. So I am quite happy in my little corner being ignored by the haters.
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Why yes, I do! Why else would I write about the characters I love, if not to make them bone? lol.
I’ve only written M/F smut, since that’s what I’m most comfortable writing, and it’s rarely *super duper* explicit - I’ll use a fair few euphemisms a lot of the time. The more smut I write, though, the more I worry that it’s all the same... might need to start taking more risks!
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, but that would suck.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not to my knowledge, but that would be awesome!
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Kiiiiind of? Years ago, my D&D party started an email RPing campaign that was sort of like writing a fic together, but it stalled at some point and is long since lost to time.
My partner and I also wrote the beginnings of an original story together (also started as an attempted RPing campaign) and some day I might want to work on that one some more, because I liked what we came up with.
14) What's your all time favourite ship?
Olberic Eisenberg, the Unbending Blade of Hornburg, and H’aanit, huntress of the Dark Wood. I have never been so enamored of a fictional pairing, and this is literally what has thrust me into getting involved in fandom instead of just quietly enjoying content by myself. LET ME YELL AT YOU ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM! If I had to pick a runner-up, I’d say the Evil Queen/Robin Hood from Once Upon a Time. I will read anything @somewhereapart writes about those two for as long as she keeps writing.
Another, more recent favorite, is definitely Agent 47/Diana Burnwood from Hitman! I only discovered the Hitman games this year, but I love that pairing to bits.
15) What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I do intend to finish all of my current WIPs, of which I have... 4? 5 if you count the one that’s currently being beta-read. I guess the one I’m struggling with the most is an Octopath H’aanberic family-fic with the working title of Journey to Cobbleston. Olberic and H’aanit are taking their daughter B’renit to Cobbleston for the first time, and it doesn’t really have much more plot than that, so I’m finding it challenging. It’s just a cute story partially from the point of view of a four-year-old traveling for the first time, and it feels like not enough “interesting” stuff is going to happen. I struggle with pure fluff, y’all.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Grammar! And writing emotions - I’ve gotten enough comments from people telling me that they could feel my characters’ emotions in my writing for me to gather that I must have a knack for it.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing and plot/worldbuilding, ie. bigger picture stuff. And using too many clichés, probably.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve only written in English so far, but it’s not my first language, so I would definitely not shy away from writing dialogue in French if it was called for. Otherwise, since I am a *huge* language nerd, I would likely give other languages a try if the story called for it, and get a native speaker beta to look over it for me before I posted.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Octopath Traveler, as previously stated. It’s still my main fandom.
20) What's your favourite fic you've written?
I have a soft spot for The Measure of a Man. I just really liked what I was able to accomplish with it as a character study for Olberic, and I enjoyed incorporating a lot of the other canon characters into his story, too. Feel free to join in with your own answers, friends! :)

- I FINISHED THE EPISODE!!! I SURVIVED, AND SO DID THEY!!!
- That must have been the longest episode of the campaign, right? That was so stressful (though I admittedly went into it knowing that nobody died.... I couldn’t stand not knowing, so I spoiled myself, I’m sorry!) Even so, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.... I also successfully caught up before tonight’s episode, so we’ll see what happens in the aftermath of this whole mess.... I think we’ll need all the luck in the world tonight y’all  😭

Danganronpa - Review2002
Danganronpa is a mystery VN, where 15 high schoolers are trapped in a murder school, and in order to get out one has to kill another and frame somebody else for it. Observed and manipulated by the headmaster of the school, a sadistic robot-bear called Monokuma, our main character, Makoto, has to survive and not lose his hope. Because there is a lot of despair. And hope. Despair. Hope. Despair. Light. Darkness. Kingdom Hearts.
But we’ll talk about that later.
Despite all the murder thingy, the game is just an edgy shonen and is very animu. It’s not a bad thing, because it’s entertaining, and that’s what matters the most. Characters are mostly simplistic, often stereotypical, but are distinguish and memorable (aside from meh protag). What is good about the cast is how the group dynamics changes with each case. Thanks to that, the characters seem more alive, and the surrounding drama seems more impactful. And sometimes the drama is really good, though it’s dragged down by the meme writing. But about that later.
The trials, where we try to figure out the killer’s identities, are good gameplay-wise. Aside from the rhythm minigame. I get the creators wanted to demonstrate losing arguments by lack of confidence, but, until half of the game, that minigame had nothing to do with logic or deduction. Every other minigame was good or ok, though.
Comparing to Ace Attorney, the trials were more dynamic, with constant new arguments and questions. It helps that the equivalent of AA’s testimonies is briefer (as it’s on a time limit). Not to mention, the filled with moving camera direction really made non-animated and non-moving characters feel alive. The music was ok – it serves its purpose, but it isn’t memorable.
The gameplay between trials was ok. Investigations didn’t drag too long. The free time did sometimes, but that’s because I was collecting more coins than it was necessary. The coins are spent for presents, which we can give to other characters, in return for learning more about them and gaining upgrades for the trials. But, to be frank, some upgrades were “turn off the setting we put to make the gameplay purposefully shittier”.
It’s an entertaining game with some good ideas, which earns 7/10 in my book. But there are reasons why this game doesn’t earn any higher, which I’m going to elaborate on. The subject is Kingdom Hearts Meme Writing, Monokuma being a letdown villain, the big revelation being a lot of nothing, and how the writers could’ve made the Hope vs Despair nonsense actually work. The last two are impossible to write about without spoilers, but I can explain the first two without them.
Despair. Despair. Despair. Despair. Do you get it? I hope.
I know this is a shonen, regardless how edgy it is, and the writers were pretty self-aware of this. But the despair/hope meme drags down the writing. Monokuma goes on and on about how he will turn all the hope into despair, and this is just as ridiculous as a talking cartoon bear that kills a man by literally blasting him into space can be. It’s a meme writing. A ham-fisted, forced meme writing.
Other examples of meme writing is Kingdom Hearts, with its light and darkness, or Ace Attorney, with its truth. We all roll our eyes over that. Characters are bringing up some concept in a melodramatic way, repeatably, with a ridiculous zeal that doesn’t just seem alien, but straight out autistic. But it’s okay, all those titles, including Ronpa, are still shonens. Kingdom Hearts is a battle shonen where you fight against forces of evil alongside Donald Duck. You can turn your brain off and enjoy yourself, no biggie. But turning your brain off is a bit harder in, you know, a murder mystery.
Yeah, Ace Attorney is murder mystery as well, and yet I give it a pass. That’s because “truth” is just an ideal of idealistic characters. Phoenix, Edgeworth, and the rest, are melodramatically motivating themselves by simplistically expressing their ideal. And  melodrama is part of a wrestling, and logic wrestling is what Ace Attorney boils down to. So, why this isn’t the same in this logic wrestling game?
The problem with hope/despair is that those are not just some concepts or ideals, but those are emotions. Emotions that the writing does attempt to make you feel, sometimes pretty successfully. Case 4 is an example of a beautifully set up tragedy, it’s the game’s emotional peak. The reveal is shocking and sad, and the dramatic confession is filled with genuine emotion. And then the confession has the word “despair” in it, and my brain is immediately going back to Monokuma and his antics. Good thing that the official translation team has realized that they would have killed the mood sooner, if they had included that word in an earlier appearing evidence. Same thing happens whenever the word “hope” appears – it just makes us recall the memes.
In my AI: Somnium Files I’ve explained to you the need of being explicit about what is supposed to make the player feel emotions. But you can’t be ham-fisted about what the player is supposed to feel. Turning hope and despair into KH’s equivalent of light and darkness is turning them into a material for jokes. It is a repeatable telling us what to feel, and that simply can’t work. If the game didn’t do that, a lot of good moments wouldn’t be dragged down by being a reference to something we joke about.
Monokuma is just the biggest kid tier villain
There are spoiler reasons why Monokuma fails at being a villain, but I’ll mention them in spoiler section about improving the whole hope vs despair conflict. But the basic problem with Monokuma is spoiler-free, because it all boils down to the game’s initial setup.
Generally, Monokuma is a recurring type of villain that mixes nihilism, cartoonish silliness and cruel sadism into one, disturbing package. Other examples of such villains is the Joker, or Killer the Butcher from Zambot 3. When you look at Monokuma alone, he is (aside from spoiler reasons) a good example of such a villain. He is over the top, entertaining, scheming, memorable, gets all the attention in every scene he is in, and is constantly disturbing. All his bases are covered, so all is good, right? But only when you look at Monokuma alone.
Character in a story isn’t just some element you can look at alone, it’s an element you see among all the others. Great villain needs a great hero. Great hero needs a great villain. If one is unimpressive, the other can’t impress us with their triumphs.
The reason why the Joker is a great villain is because he is a challenge for the goddamn Batman, creating a clash of an unstoppable force against an unmovable object. Killer the Butcher’s enemies are kids piloting alien giant robot with superior firepower. What makes the Bucher a good villain is that, regardless of his lost battles, he still succeeds at causing significant collateral damage, which constantly contributes to his stated goal of slowly killing all humans. And Butcher doesn’t just rely on his show reaching logical conclusions about consequences of battles between giant robots, the entire arc before heroes directly attacking his HQ is about him using a weapon they can’t fight with a giant robot – kidnapped people turned into living human bombs. The amount of sacrifices, losses and traumas that kids from a 70s (!) super robot show have to go through is why Killer the Butcher is an impressive villain you love to hate.
But Monokuma isn’t an unstoppable force going against an unmovable object. Neither he is battling heroes that are capable of beating him in a direct confrontation, forcing him to rely on different forms of accomplishing his goals. He targets fifteen uninformed kids, with like three giving him a reason to worry, and puts them in a situation where they can’t initially defy him at all. It’s not a spoiler to say that the kids initially can’t find any clues that would’ve allowed them to free themselves from Monokuma. Their exploration of the school is limited, and next areas are unlocked only after class trials. Meaning, Monokuma limits kids’ ability to gather information required to beat him, until the next killing occurs. If the kids don’t kill anybody, they can only hope to (hah) apathetically accept their imprisonment by Monokuma.
To sum it up, all that Monokuma accomplishes is making some confused kids kill one another, when they are in a situation where it’s their only option to free themselves. Wow, what an impressive villain, doing whatever he wants with helpless children and driving them to murder.
It doesn’t help that the actual conclusion of the conflict with Monokuma is underwhelming, and all his actions only make us respect him less as a villain. But more about that later, in the spoiler section. But not immediately, because first we need to focus on the game’s disappointing big revelation.
Who cares that the world is over?
All attempts to escape the murder school were pointless – the world has already ended! Play the laugh track.
To give the writers credit, Genocide Jill’s explanation of that was funny and played out as a dark joke. And that’s the only way this revelation could be played out.
When it comes for the twist being a twist, it’s okeyish. The twist itself isn’t hard to guess, by the end of the first trial, and it’s almost given away by the third one. On the other side, there are photos of kids that died in previous chapters, and you could wonder if they aren’t going to reveal that everybody lives and this all was a simulation, or something. It can be easily guessed, but there is room for speculation, and you may not know which route the writers will go. Even if those routes are “predictable” and “a disappointing backpedal”.
But even if you end up being surprised… it’s an emotional bunch of nothing. Makoto gets his answer to what could’ve happened to his family, and he still doesn’t even realize it. That’s how the writing poorly handled one way it could’ve made us care about end of the world – through Makoto’s reaction to it.
Makoto is such an uninteresting, purposefully average, and ultimately unimpressive main character. We know he has family, parents, and a younger sister, but one picture of them is all we got. We don’t know the dynamics of their relationship, and we don’t know why Makoto loves them. Just saying “they are his family” isn’t enough. When Superman and his family are written well, we know why Clark Kent cares deeply about them – Ma Kent is such a great mother, Pa Kent is such a great father, and each scene with them demonstrates it.
Through the game, Makoto could’ve flashbacks to his family, as an ongoing C plot. That way we would’ve been shown why Makoto cares about them, why he wants to make sure they are safe, why he could feel tempted about escaping via murder (leading to him rejecting that idea because his family wouldn’t want it that way). And then boom – yes, the world has ended, and they are probably dead.
But Makoto never ever connects the state of the world to the state of his family. And that’s a big mistake, because that was a way to spice up the ultimate clash between Hope and Despair.
How to argue that Despair can be better than Hope
Before I focus on the topic, let me first expand on the topic of Monokuma being a disappointing villain, by telling you why Junko is a disappointing villain.
Junko just pulls everything out of her ass. Ok, she happens to have a super soldier sister, who was capable of killing Academy’s entire adult staff, letting her to take over the school. This part is acceptable by shonen standards. It was the Acadamy that was responsible for sealing the building and setting its defense, ok. But then everything else is an unexplained bullshit. Endless Monokumas? She has them because the writer says so. Ability to take away memories? She has them because the writer says so. Hijacking all TV channels? Performing ridiculously complex executions? Securing supplies to the Academy in a post-apo setting? She can because the writers says so.
She simply isn’t a formidable villain. She is nothing more than a bored girl, that could’ve been successful as a normal person, but the entire universe decided to grant her everything to let her play a supervillain. She doesn’t accomplish any impressive feat by herself. Even taking over of the Academy was solely thanks to her sister. With her granted unfair total advantage over the cast, there was no other way for her to lose than keeping screwing herself. She can’t even gain respect as a formidable opponent from sticking to her rules, because she not only purposefully handicaps the most competent person in the cast, but also keeps breaking her own rules.
The second aspect of a good villain is understandability. And Junko is a stupid incomprehensible mess. She always feels despair, and that somehow makes her constantly bored. But she wants to prove that’s better than hope. For some reason, she is a sadist. She is also happy about facing ultimate despair in form of her own death, but she didn’t yearn to that enough to off herself before all her plans. Nothing adds up, and she just does whatever crazy shit the writers needs her to do at the current moment. This is the aspect where she just sucks as a Joker-type villain. Such villains, when done well, aren’t just twisted, wrong, crazy edgemasters. When done well, they are also, despite everything, still somehow understandable. That’s what makes them actually shocking. It isn’t just shocking that they do horrible things, it is shocking that they can argue that everything they do serves a purpose and is consistent with a coherent belief.
Joker (when written well) and Killer the Butcher do have nihilistic philosophy that is wrong and twisted, but does have some shocking points. Joker believes that normal life is pointless, because one bad day can drive you mad, so it’s better to embrace awfulness of the world as your entertainment. And this philosophy is consistent with him wanting to commit macabre crimes. Killer the Butcher believes that humans are ungrateful bastards and will even treat their saviors like crap. And this philosophy is consistent with him wanting to kill all humans. Even if you don’t agree with their believes (I hope), you understand why somebody with such believes would be doing what they are doing. This understandability is what elevates banal conflict against a bad guy that does a bad thing that has to be stopped, into a conflict against a personified idea. Batman doesn’t just fight the Joker, he fights a nihilistic view of a pointless mad world. Zambot 3 kids don’t just fight Killer the Butcher, they fight view of humans as unworthy of living and being saved. That is why those conflicts aren’t banal.
Meanwhile, Junko makes a big promise for a Hope vs Despair conflict, arguing that the latter is better than former, but...
What is “despair” anyway? Is it to give up from stuff like escaping the school, and accepting whatever you end up having, however shitty it is? But what does it have with Junko’s boredom and embracing her own death? What is the point of the over-the-top executions? Junko is gleefully sadistic, what about despair makes you sadistic? Did she want the cast and her viewers to embrace sadism as well?  How’s that better than hope? It’s incomprehensible, and fails to make any point. The blame lies pretty much on the out-of-place sadism that exists just to make Junko an edgelady.
Danganronpa is a murder mystery. And despite being an over-the-top shonen, it does focus, decently, on motives for committing murders. Every single killer in this game is understandable. Their actions were wrong, but you understand why they did everything they did. There is just a sole exception to this rule – the games’ main villain.
During the final confrontation, Junko was arguing that futile hopes of previous murderers drove them to committing murder. That alone does make a good point. Then she offered everyone safe peaceful life, if they acknowledged her belief and abandoned all hope. Ok, that’s a good dilemma. Surprising that with such a good prepared dilemma Junko bothered to handicap and eliminate Kyoko, when she could just guide the cast towards Junko and this dilemma faster. Still, Junko does make a point about despair being better than hope, and does make the cast face a dilemma, in a way that is consistent with her belief. But then she adds she wants to punish someone for lulz, and that person has to be our bland player character.
And how killing Makoto proves that despair is better than hope? It was a yet another act of Junko’s pointless sadism, which only made it more difficult for other characters to agree with her. Anyway, Junko is ultimately unimpressive, because she loses to Makoto just saying “let’s have some hope, guys”. All that buildup of understandable motives of past killers lead to a rather banal final conflict with a completely banal resolution.
Things would be different, if Junko didn’t forget about Makoto’s family and did bring them up during the final argument. I still think that trying to kill Makoto was counterproductive, but I understand the need of putting MC’s life at stake. But Junko could single out Makoto for execution because he was pushing for the idea of everyone leaving the school, despite the revelation about state of the world, and she could accuse him for selfishly risking lives of others, just for a hope of reunion with his own family. Imagine that being the payoff of flashbacks to Makoto’s family and his wish to reunite with them. Sure, here, Makoto has proved he wouldn’t directly murder anybody over it, but would he willingly disregard safety of others? He can’t really refute that, without giving up on leaving the school.
And that’s how Junko could undermine Makoto and make her point. Living trapped in the school and abandoning all hope for the outside world was bad, but it could be worse. At least it was safe, peaceful, and they had food plus entertainment. Looking for anything better outside was risky. Hoping for anything better was risky. Hope was bad. The state of despair, where you no longer hope for anything better than what you have, was good. Unable to accept this Makoto was spreading ideas that were dangerous for the well-being of others. How Makoto, willing to selfishly drag everyone else into a dangerous hell-word and risk their lives, was that much different from every other killer? Sure, they killed others directly, but at least none of their victims had a slow and painful death. Makoto was willing to potentially doom others to that. And this is why he had to be put down, like all the other killers had to be, regardless of their understandable motives. In the current state of the world, any reckless hope is a dangerous thought crime.
Here, the final debate could be more complex. Makoto could’ve pointed out that, even if he could be accused for having a selfish hope, it was the same with others. Everyone else wanted their situation to improve, and giving that up for hollow safety wouldn’t do. Hope is better than despair, freedom is better than safety. The future of post-apo is libertarian, and if we can’t live with the freedom to pursue our hopes, then we won’t live at all. No more lockdowns!
You don’t have to agree with such a statement, but at least it is some statement. Here, we have a clash of hope that accepts the risk against despair that is unwilling to accept any risks. Unlike what we got, where despair is somehow tied to sadism, and hope simply rides on the power of friendship.
