Did I ever say that my iteration's Mikey is actually part Krang (besides part frog)? Because now I have

So!! About the Krang in my au. They live in Dimension X, and unlike most versions, they actually can't leave for long. You see, Dimension X (much like its 12 version) is littered with energy crystals. These crystals (which the Kraang call "Life Gems") are essential for the Krang's survival, as being too far away from them will deplete their energy and kill them. All of the Life Gems, in turn, answer to a bigger crystal, the Existence Jewel.

Enter Prime, the Krang Royal Scientist. They're a bit... twisted, and power hungry. So when they create a sort of Mutagen that manipulates the Life Gems and thus turn the Krang into mindless servants, they're ecstatic! Finally, power! They proceed to use the Mutagen on all Life Gems they find, turning most (but not all) of the Krang into their 'loyal subjects'. Some who escape the initial process run off and live in shadows, slowly trying to build a rebellion to overthrow Prime. Some decide to join Prime out of their own volition, bc you know... Power™.

What the Mutagen is not able to do, at least not on its own, is corrupt the Existence Jewel, as its too powerful for the chemical. There is a legend, however, saying that the Jewel could be fully controlled by a person, a "pure lifeform, not quite Krang, not quite anything else," that could manipulate it to their whim.

Prime doesn't usually believe in legends and tales, but y'know, desperate times...

They're unable to do much with the Mutagen from Dimension X though, at least not without appropiate test subjects. Luckily, he might know of a human from dimensions away, who's more than happy to experiment away with the mysterious ooze...

Ok so after THAT lore dump, re:The Actual Drawing! Yes Mikey is the pure lifeform from the legend, and being in Dimension X and near the crystals bring out some... intersting side effects. Like uh, New Limbs. Crystal Claws. And a brand new teeth fang in place of a teeth that got knocked out at some point of the story.

A small progression timeline, since we're at it!!

Yeah, the first transformation isn't pleasant :/ it gets better tho. And post-all-of-that, Mikey gets some brand new, cool mini Life Gems for their mask! (Totally unrelated to how Krang can die if away from the crystals for too long...)

I'm gonna be working on designs for the Krang now!! Aside from Prime's little entourage, they're all very nice, more like 03's Utroms if anything.

In regards to this situation in the TMNT AU competition

Anyone here willing to sign? ^^

Startled, the horned stranger blinks at you with his one functional eye, then lowers their head to the clipboard you’re holding. They don’t look like a turtle, but they seem to understand you anyways as they slip one void-black hand from his long, heavy cloak and take ahold of the offered pen with segmented fingers. They study your paper for a moment, narrowing their eye at the text as if trying to parse it, before lowering their pen to the paper. They tap once, twice, then swiftly scrawl their name in an open slot. They hand the clipboard over to you, hands trembling ever so slightly, and back up a step, ducking their face into the fluffy ruff of their cloak. When you look back down at the page, you can see that they’ve written in a language completely foreign to you—strange shapes and symbols fill their slot, definitely from no language on earth. When you look back up at them, they’re still standing there, head tilted slightly to the side. One of their hands is playing with the fluff of their cloak, as if it’s some sort of anxious tic. They point at their name at the page, and then at you, and it’s not entirely clear just what they’re doing. Nevertheless, it’s a signature. You just need to understand it first.

@dandylovesturtles I thought it would be fun to draw a crossover between Sidelined AU and Minor Interference. MI Donnie is deaf/hard of hearing (he has hearing aids built into his goggles), and he would love seeing other forms of adaptive technology.

Anyways, Mutant Mondo design for TMNT: Reptile Rampage!! He's a Chinese Cave Gecko :D (note: I might change this design some other time, but for now let's go with this)

A few extra facts:

He's lost height thanks to the mutation. He went from 1.74m to 1.54 (He ends up shorter than Mikey lmao. Tall boyfriend benefits revoked)

Still uses a wheelchair, although he went from full time wheelchair user to ambulatory wheelchair user (turns out, mutagen cannot really cure old injuries, but it does make them better)

Shredder injected him with mutagen during a fight, although he was really aimimg for Irma

He was in a coma for 6 months following his mutation

He actually thinks being a mutant is v cool!!! He doesn't have that much angst about it, although he does miss his hair

Him missing his hair is what prompted Mikey to gift him an old bandanna of theirs to use as 'hair replacement'. Mondo loves it 💛🧡

Still wears his old human clothes even thought they're ridiculously oversized on him now

Moved into an RV, which he shares with Casey

To avoid questioning, Irma had to fake a funeral. He thinks that's HILARIOUS and has taken pictures next to his gravestone. Irma... is not amused

Honestly, he's just living the life rn.
