Scene from the Tekken 3 manhua. It's a flashback of 10-year-old Forest's first meeting with Paul. He challenges Paul to a fight but we all know how that turned out. There's a lot of awesome and badass moments with both of them in the manhua, so if you're a fan of Forest and/or Paul, I recommend checking it out. It is in Chinese tho, and there are no English translations; which is why I try translating some of it.

as random as it sounds, I really feel like xiao was learning business management while at the school; jin encouraged her to chase her dreams and for her that means learning how to get licenses and run a legal business so she was definitely getting her credentials in order-

Purely out of curiosity - what type of locomotive is the one on display at Karjaa railway station?
Tk3 (originally K5) light freight loco, nicknamed Little Jumbo. The class would really deserve a detailed entry of its own, these boys were the most numerous steam loco class in Finland, and the second-most numerous overall, with 161 built (though I can't find out right now if that figure includes the five locos built for the Latvian State Railways).

One of my absolute favourite loco classes of all time.

hi Tekken interest has taken me over and i love Hwoarang sm
1. and 2. Hwo warm-ups
3. I have a headcanon that he was adopted by Baek Doo San when he was young, and he was a raggedy kiddo that roamed the streets and did various kinds of stuff to survive (which kinda tie into his street thug occupation in TK3 and bad habits as a whole)
This is meant to be an old family photo, in which they're both in fancy hanboks ^^
4. Devil Hwo concept, themed around hawks

Towel Scale explained
So at the end of most of my Towelket write-ups I typically have a scale that places my enjoyment of each game. Right now the scale looks like this
Warau Warawau > Yorumorukimiri = Dekapari > TK1 = TK2 > Nekoashi Otome > TK4 > Fury > TK6 > TK3 > TK5
As I've played through these games and I get to sit down and really think about them after the fact, my opinions have definitely shifted around and changed. Some games find themselves inexplicably lower or higher on the scale with each review so I figured I'd give a more compressed version of my thoughts on each game and how I really feel about them as a whole in this current time. Just as a small reference I guess :')
(Also reminder this is more of a personal enjoyment scale than a quality scale lmao)
Warau, Warawau: Still my favorite game out of all of them. Story is focused and very cleverly weaved together. First playthrough was very unique and wonderful thing to just experience. Second playthrough is when I got to recontextualize all the events unfolding which made the ending hit even harder than the first time. There was clearly a lot of effort and care put into this game and it still stands out as one of the most unique Towelket games and RPGmaker games I've had the pleasure of playing.
Yorumorukimiri and Dekapari: I put these two in the same level because honestly they both have similar qualities and flaws. Yorumorukimiri and Dekapari both have very engaging characters and storylines. There very rarely a moment where I'm not enjoying what's happening in the moment. However I believe they both have a similar issues of not really knowing what direction they want to go towards the end. Yorumorukimiri was fantastic, probably some of the best written characters in the series, however the third game attempts to conclude a story that has already been concluded and as a result ends up confused on what it wants to accomplish.
Dekapari was very fun and the story and characters never failed to grab my attention. The atmosphere of this game is just wonderful however I feel a lot of ideas it clearly had at the start just don't really get done justice by the third act which is unfortunate. But overall I feel everything else it does well easily makes up for it.
Towelket 1 and Towelket 2: I'd say these two games are pretty on par with each other. The only reason they're not any higher is just due to the fact that I think Kanao's writing and presentation have just significantly improved since these games. Their stories are both focused and end perfectly imo. I would probably recommend these two the most as an introduction to the series or anyone who just enjoys RPGmaker games at all.
Kaiketsu! Nekoashi Otome: Great game! Very good presentation and overall story. The only reason it's ranked lower is due to the fact that it's more of a funny game that also has a good story. Some characters exist purely for laughs which I don't mind at all but by default they're just not as compelling as some of the other variations of themselves. It's the game that probably made me laugh the hardest but the humor is admittedly a lot more low-brow than the funnies in later games.
Towelket 4: I definitely feel like I didn't give this game enough credit the first time around. For what it is, the story is actually pretty interesting and the cast of characters are very fun to be around. However this game is held back simply due to the fact that it's just kind of unfinished? It ends rather abruptly to the point it's infamous among the people that play these games. With some context, it's very clear that this game was meant to be apart of something much bigger but unfortunately the game that was supposed to pick up where this one left off just never happened. So instead, we're left with a pretty painful situation where this story just never got the conclusion it deserved.
Towelket Fury: This game is a broken mess and it's story is equally as broken but it's really a train wreck you can't look away from. The fact that this game managed to not immediately become lost media is astounding. It's easily the most nihilistic Towelket game and the entire story plays out like the creator just spitting out their frustrations with the world into a single RPGmaker game. However as interesting as it is, I can't say it really makes for a good story. Overall, seeing what Kanao is capable of in a good mental state is just a hundred times more engaging and valuable to me than what this game turned out to be. I don't hate it and I do still believe its one of the more interesting games out of the classic Towelkets but overall compared to the more modern and well polished games it just can't compete.
Towelket 6: Interesting start, horrid middle, dull ending. I liked the dynamic between the main three girls at the start but once Nyanyamo is removed from the story, the game just becomes really really boring. It quickly loses focus and the main characters just end up taking a backseat for most of the game. Ending is meh. It tries to do a little bit of Towelket 2 and a little bit of Towelket 1 but just lacks the context take make itself interesting or memorable.
Towelket 3: A game that would be pretty charming had if it wasn't so horrendously frustrating to actually play. It's grinding hell and the simple story fails to justify it. It's easy to get lost because a lot of the plot doesn't really follow any sort of logic. In hindsight a lot of the story and dialogue is pretty amusing but in the moment it's impossible to appreciate due to just how exhausting it is to play this game.
Towelket 5: Game is meant to be all funny no story but it just isn't very funny. Characters existed for gags and nothing else. Any semblance of story in just uninteresting when characters have spent all game being super ironic or having a single joke and constantly repeating it. Nothing else really stands out from the rest of the game. It's a painfully charmless Towelket game.

I actually really like Lee; his personality and appearance have charmed me quite easily, and I genuinely think he could be an even greater character if Namco and Harada worked on him just a bit more.
However, you are one of the worst Lee fans, out of all the Lee fans I’ve seen in this fandom. Not only do you criticize every other character that isn’t Lee, but then you have the gall to insult others and whine about being a “real person” when YOU get insulted. Not to mention, just- sugarcoating Lee’s childhood. Yes, it’s sad that Heihachi abused him and he had to go through all this, but stop thinking he’s some clean cut innocent man who’s never seen a drop of blood in his life. You’re actively ruining the character.
Lee worked for Kazuya back in TK2, and if Kazuya back in TK2 did things like kill people, smuggle animals, drug dealings, etc. then what makes you think Lee didn’t join in, or even help him? Lee has blood on his hands, just like any other Mishima.
Also, you’re sooo smart for thinking that anyone that likes Kazuya or Jin is some desperate motherfucker that needs to “vehemently defend their favorite character’s atrocities”, as you said it on Twitter. Like, excuse them for liking morally gray characters.
You’re not any better with Lee, by the way. You also defend him like you’re defending your own damn family.
Not to mention you stroking your own damn ego by thinking that you’re some “intellectual” by wishing that Kazuya dies, Jin goes to jail, and Jun fails to save them both in TK8. Do you want a medal or something?
And how could I forget your horrific takes on some of the characters, like Xiaoyu?
“She’s a creepy stalker, just like Ganryu!!”
Ganryu was actively looking to sleep and date 2 women which are both young enough to be his damn DAUGHTER. HE’S GROSS.
But Xiaoyu? She just wants to look out for her friend, Jin. And before you tell me she just wants to save her herself, or some other bullshit, her personality from TK3-TK4 onwards sucks ass, because Namco sucks ass and can’t write female characters correctly. And by the way, your dumb argument about “switching their genders” or whatever when it comes to Jin and Xiaoyu is so stupid, I had to take a good minute to try to understand what the fuck you were saying.
Oh, right, I forgot to say- you’re a coward, a hypocrite AND an ableist. I’ve never seen THAT combo before. Good job on deleting that part on your bio where you called Jun, Jin, Kazuya, and Xiaoyu fans “fantards”.
And of course, you hate Kazuya x Jun to an extent which could be called concerning. Anna and Lee didn’t even date each other, and just lightly teased each other in TK5 (by the way, Lee literally mocks her afterwards when he wins, so I doubt that they even liked each other that much), yet they’re such a good couple.
Kazuya and Jun ACTUALLY had a relationship. Anna and Lee didn’t. Do you not see the problem here? If you’re going to hate on Kazuya x Jun because they don’t “love each other”, then just keep it to yourself, especially when YOUR pairing is just “hot sexy girl x hot sexy playboy”. Like, I don’t know, maybe think before you speak? It won’t hurt you, I promise.
All in all, you suck. Either get better and start working on yourself or just leave this fandom. No one likes you, other than your boot licking, dick riding friends/mutuals/followers.
All right! Have you gotten all of it out? If so, then:

I’m never getting over the fact that Daniel married the female (nice) version of Terry Silver. Seriously, Amanda is just Terry with more sugar, and really nice dresses. They look like they could be related. Act like it too. I still lean towards that crack theory of Terry being Amanda’s father. Oh boy. Oh boy!!
From season one I kept wondering why she reminded me of someone—then I re-watched KK3, and I figured out who that someone was. Silver left a mark. And little Danny boy was left with one hell of a type.
Too bad the CK writers are cowards who’ll never give Daniel what he really needs, only the lighter shade of gray. Oh well, at least there’s fanfiction.
I give the writers of Cobra Kai a lot of flack, but narratively, Damanda is genius. I think the way they tried to tie Terry to Johnny was a bit forced; there is no reason at all why Terry would give two fucks about Johnny Lawrence before the tournament; I think it'd be funnier if they would have both turned to Daniel/Kreese at some point going "Who tf is that guy?" And it would have been a million times sweeter if Johnny would have gone to kick Terry's ass for messing with LaRusso only to emerge with his ass thoroughly kicked and work from there, but casting Amanda as Daniel's wife? Oh, the implications! Beautifully set up because the characters don't realise but at least part of the audience certainly will! The way they kept namedropping Terry so long before we got to meet him? And the "Oh...oh" people who hadn't seen Terry in tk3 all went through in seeing his younger self? The way the whole Kumiko S3 story retroactively makes sense? Because you couldn't but go: but why aren't they together? Even the bonsai LaRusso Auto gives away? It's incredibly cheesy if you only know kk1, but in light of KK3 and Little Trees it's so heartwarming again?
They left an incredibly deep mark on each other, but it's a deeply tainted love. And yes, if they'd been narratively honest, there is no way Terry wouldn't have kidnapped Daniel for some more karate bdsm at his house, going by that steam room scene alone. Too adult for the genre? You bet. But internally consistent.
But ah, what is fanfic for indeed!
If Amanda were Terry's daughter it must have been one massive bender Terry went on directly after tkk3, and I still think he'd somehow be aware of Amanda's existence and marriage to Daniel. No way people wouldn't have tried for alimony from that baby Daddy. And there's a lot of female love interests of TIG that work perfectly, but Terry has no chemistry with women in the whole franchise. Maybe Carla the maid, she's his type, but I hardly think he'd go there.
I'd still wonder what Amanda thinks of all this. Of course she doesn't know his younger self, but no way Anthony, Hawk and Demetri haven't digged up everything.
Awkward! 😆
And Anthony could so easily be Terry's child it's hilarious, too. Out mindgaming each other at every turn! But for canon Daniel to find out that Terry is his children's grandfather? Talk about psychic damage. I think he'd become a monk!!

ok but since hwoarang was like a leader of a gang - do you think he possibly met jin because he and his gang were targeting him? like they might've known he was the grandson of the zaibatsu ceo, or jin could've been wearing something expensive. i'm imagining jin walking down the streets late at night when suddenly hwoarang and everyone gangs on him. then jin quickly does away with two of the men. and hwoarang's like. woah, this guy's not like the other rich snobs 👀 so hwoarang tells the rest of his men to back off, that he's going to fight jin. THEN that's when they both get into a draw. which, unfortunately causes great embarrassment for hwoarang to not be able to defeat jin in front of his men. which then starts their rivalry!

// oooh sure sure sure. First off hi hello <: Question for the meme: How would you prefer Xiao to be characterized in T5 & T6?
Tumblr media
♡ out of character ! ⸻ hello there ! it's so nice to meet you I love your lars ! to keep me from ranting, I essentially want her to progress from her TK3 & 4 days, not the ridiculously naive & stereotypically tsundere obsession with jin that came from the god awful portrayals of TK 5 & 6. now this is no attack on xiaoyu's innocence, as I think it's an important part of her character to want the best in all situations, but there's a fine line of being optimistic & being obscenely naive. I can understand her contemplating the tragedy of the mishima lineage, as it really is sad, but why can't she simply put forth more effort to reason with jin & company to do different out of the notion of trying to change the cycle of family violence versus trying to fund ... a time machine. that's my biggest beef w/ 5, as well as this being the game where she suddenly becomes really childish ( what happened to the xiao who beat down heihachi in her 3 ending because she wasn't getting her amusement park after all ? I'm here for quirks and such but the infantilization gets a bit too much ) ???. also .... the jin thing. as someone who has the worst aversion to the clingy - unrequitted love trope, seeing xiaoyu suddenly become weirdly possessive of jin and being weird to his family in terms of considering herself his girlfriend is just ... big no. the notion that xiaoyu is going to so much effort to help jin and bring him off the dark ledges simply because of romantic love that's probably not canonly requitted is just a big no for me, as I focus on xiaoyu's desire to help jin out of pure friendship and care. does she have a slight crush on him ? of course, but it's not something she says aloud or fangirls about to the point of it being a universal fact, and certainly not to the point of having this made up claim on him. let it be known that before all else, xiaoyu sees jin as a friend, a good one at that who's really in need of another friend who's there for him because during this entire saga, he literally has no one else and that's so terrifying for her to even think of. she truly believes that he deserves better, and wants him to see that there can be better, to enjoy a life that is filled with happiness and love. so for the sake of my sanity, I just want her to show growth instead of regression in terms of that: let her be a bubbly girl without the negative connotations becoming reality.
send me questions you have about my character!

Hello Tomato, i'm a huge fan of tekken too and I love your art. Just had a funny image all of a sudden... If they say Mishima father and son ate always in conflict... What happens if Jin have been a girl and is more of a Kazama? Would the Mishima curse be broken? And would that be a loophole for the father-son generation hate if Jin's a girl? *insert hrm emoji*
thank you! im actually a relatively new fan myself, i only stuck my head in around may of last year, and it wasnt until early december that i actually got rly invested (by total accident sdfjkdn)
i would have to argue that no, Jin being a girl wouldn't change much story wise. im referencing tk6 here, but its only said that "its the fate of [the Mishima family] to fight and betray each other," with no reference to fathers/sons in particular. i dont think Kazuya is shallow enough to treat Jin entirely differently if he were female, even if some perceptions would probably be different (seeing less of himself in him, immediate more resemblance to jun, etc).
the only thing i think it would REALLY change is fan perception of the character. i imagine that a female character taking the lead in the franchise would have caused more upset upon tk3's release, just because of the kind of community it is. she would definitely be more sexualized (like all the female characters in tekken :) ), and fans would be much harsher on her actions (tk6 in particular). im not usually so cynical about this kind of thing, but in this circle in particular, ive seen enough to know that im likely right sdjfksdf. then again a lot of people love Nina, but id rather they not have another sexy lady character for boys to simp over
it WOULD be cool to have a female led, big dog fighting series, but in this case i dont think it would change the story

Since you're currently helping identify old Finnish steam locomotives, do you know anything about this one? All I know from my files is that I took this picture in 2003, somewhere in the wider Helsinki area, with the worst digital camera known to mankind (the metadata is not reliable, but I think 2003 is probably correct). From this and the other picture I have of it, I know that its number is 1163 and it is missing its driving rods.
It's probably the same place where I took this picture, but I can't vouch for that:
Tumblr media
I was just getting ready to go to bed, so this one will be the last for today. That's another Tk3 (ex-K5) light freight loco. Since I didn't cover the details the last time, the first Tk3's were built in 1927 and the last as late as 1953. It was essentially a lighter version of the Tv1/K3 midweight freight loco.
This particular unit was rusting away next to the old Pasila roundhouse bear Pasila station (the roundhouse used to be a base for a heritage train operator; you second photo is from the roundhouse). I should take a gander there to see if the loco is still there; they're clearing the rolling stock away as the area is slated for redevelopment into a park (I think they should leave a stretch of tracks, a loco and some old carriages there as a centerpiece for the park, but Helsinki has been rubbish at preserving its transportation and industrial heritage so that will probably not happen).
Tumblr media
My photo of the same loco from 2012. As you can see, not much has changed.
