In honor of my finally obtaining a DVD of this flick so I can donate my VHS copy to the thrift shop and delete my YouTube rip...
Next person who meets any of the writers at a convention or something (especially Paul Dini), please ask if they can remember who came up with this gag because I swear it is one of my top comedy bits ever.

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Tiny Toons Looniversity- "Save the Loo Bru"
Tumblr media
Confession time- I like Tiny Toons Looniversity better than Animaniacs 2020. I think going for a full-fledged reboot has done the show wonders, and I've been thinking of a bigger piece where I discuss how this reflects who the Looney Tunes are today among other things.
For now, let's just talk about a specific episode. If you're not familiar with this take on the Toons, Buster and Babs (relation this time) are freshmen at the prestigious Tiny Toons Looniversity, where they hope to learn how to be like their cartoon idols. Unfortunately in this episode, the Toon crew (which still features Plucky, Hamton and Sweetie Pie) discover that the school's iconic coffee shop, run by Taz and served by Dizzy Devil, is going to be closed down by young tycoon Montana Max. Perfect timing for Buster, who is learning about his need for an archrival.
The rest of the episode has Buster use some of his idol's (guess who?) tricks to get at Max, including an extended bit in drag, to get him to fail. And who doesn't love some classic Looney Tunes action?
It's funny stuff, a lot of fun. Will hopefully expand on this later.

Tiny toon adventures: how i spent my summer vacation
Tumblr media
Fifi physically ejects Johnny out of the theater, causing him to end up with Elmyra (still wearing the cheetah's fur that she got at the zoo earlier) and mistakenly becoming her new "kitty".Īfter realizing that they are the main course at a dinner theater on a showboat, Babs and Buster escape with the help of Byron. Fifi gets annoyed when Johnny takes her photograph of him and signs it for a Bimbette. Fowlmouth continuously talks through the film and is thrown out of the theater. Fowlmouth and Shirley the Loon see Skunknophobia, and Fifi and Johnny attend the same film. Fifi Le Fume spends time with film actor Johnny Pew, who is uninterested in Fifi. When her family visits a nature park, she tortures the zoo animals with her adoration. Meanwhile, Elmyra Duff becomes upset after losing her cat Furrball. They eventually arrive at HappyWorldLand, only to simply ride the tour monorail around the park and then immediately decide to head back home, much to Plucky's dismay. The trip turns out to be very long and painful for Plucky, who becomes annoyed with the family's habits and is almost killed by an escaped convict that the Pigs mistake for a hitchhiker. Pig and Hamton's family as they drive to the amusement park HappyWorldLand. The bunnies, along with Byron Basset, float from flooded Acme Acres down to the Southern United States, where they continuously try to avoid getting eaten by the river's residents. Babs and Buster Bunny have a water pistol fight, which eventually escalates into their flooding Acme Acres. The Tiny Toon Adventures characters leave for their summer vacations after their term at Acme Looniversity ends. Themes of the film included parodies of pop culture and summer vacations. Points of praise by critics included the film's jokes and celebrity caricatures, while points of criticism included the segmented plot. The film was one of the highest selling videos in the United States, listing on Billboard magazine's 40 "Top Video Sales" for 16 weeks as of July 1992. The film was later aired on television as four separate Tiny Toon Adventures episodes. It was the first animated film to be released direct-to-video in the United States. How I Spent My Vacation was released on both VHS and LaserDisc formats on Wednesday, March 11, 1992. Japanese animation studio Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now known as TMS Entertainment) produced the animation for the film. Steven Spielberg was the executive producer of the film, which was written by Paul Dini, Nicholas Hollander, Tom Ruegger, and Sherri Stoner. The film has since developed a strong cult following for its above average story line and production quality. Featuring the regular characters from the Fox Kids animated television program Tiny Toon Adventures, the film follows them during their summer vacation from school, mainly focused on Babs and Buster going downriver, Plucky and Hamton going to a world-famous amusement park, and Fifi in search of her favorite movie star. Was randomly thinking about Tiny Toon Adventures the other day. I use to watch it a ton back in the 90s and remember really digging Buster Busts Loose on the SNES. How I Spent my Summer Vacation also has some of my favorite gags from the show ever.
Might be time to find the old DVD's and give the show a revisit.

Loony Toons Tiny Toon Adventures, I Love Lucy, and Night Court exist in the DC Multiverse: Prove Me Wrong!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wile E. Coyote appears in the 1990 episode "Still Another Day In the Life." Night Court is fairly unique among televised sitcoms of it's era in that it does not take place in any known sitcom universe (Nickelodeon Cinematic Universe, TGIF Universe, Snow Globe Universe, Hurricane Saturday Universe, etc.) However I Love Lucy did meet Superman in the 1957 episode "Lucy and Superman." This was Pre-Crisis but it may suggest that Night Court is connected to it in the Post-Crisis continuity. In 1992 Superman would appear in the direct-to-video animated film "How I Spent My Vacation." The timing of the Night Court appearance and How I Spent My Vacation occur during the post-Crisis/Pre-Zero Hour period suggesting that Night Court and Loony Toons/Tiny Toon Adventures all took place in the mainline DCU. Somewhat confusingly pre-crisis cartoons like "Super-Rabbit" and "Stupor Duck" take place on a world where the DC Superheroes are all fictional (not unlike Earth Prime) however The Plucky Duck Show pilot "Batduck" appears to take place in a world where Batman exists but is apathetic to Plucky's efforts to get cast in "Batman Returns" a film that perhaps Bruce Wayne is financing. Batman does however make a cameo in the "Dance of Doom" pilot of Freakazoid adding evidence the existence that these shows shared an earth. Some will argue that this is proves that the Warner Brothers series and Night Court exist on Earth-12 however remember this appearance is post Zero-Hour. Also Earth-12 wasn't officially introduced until after Flashpoint.
Tumblr media
In the 2000 comic mini-series Superman & Bugs Bunny (written by the great Mark Evanier) the Loony Toons are brought to earth by Mr Mxyzptlk. In this comic the Loony Toons are from a parallel world. Given that this book was published after both Zero Hour and The Kingdom we must assume that Hypertime is involved.
DC Meets Loony Toons comics suggest that there in fact multiple Warner Brothers Cartoon worlds some of which the The Loony Toons and the DC Superheros co-inhabit and some don't. My theory is that these worlds were split after the events of Flashpoint and the various Loony Toons (as well as Night Court and I Love Lucy) were taken dome worlds by Braniac. Somewhat confusingly this was published post Rebirth but clearly takes place during the prior Convergence event. This would also also account for the Hanna-Barbera Beyond event as well as the Flintstones and Snagglepuss comics from the era.
Tumblr media
The Loony Toons would once again meet the DC Superheroes in 2021's Space Jam: A New Legacy the Loony Toons (and many other cartoons) exist on one single earth. Somewhat confusingly they encounter superheroes twice while Bugs is rounding up the gang. I believe this means that Daffy was playing Superhero on Earth 12 while Lola was training with the Post-Rebirth Wonder Woman. Something confirmed by the fact that the Loony Toons jump into a literal comic to recruit Lola. The Loony Toons continue to have a mostly shared earth but 2022's Jellystone and the upcoming Tiny Toons Looniversity exist in their own parallel pocket dimensions.
As for Night Court despite John Larroquette returning to the 2022 reboot we have overt references to Dan Fielding's successful prosecution of Wile E. Coyote however the fact that the charges in the episode were dropped from attempted murder to harassment in the 1990 episode reflect Fielding's personal growth and softening of a character. It appears to once again be on it's own pocket universe separate from all superhero, cartoon, and sitcom universes unless it is confirmed to be the future of I Love Lucy.

1992 - Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation. Released on VHS and Laserdisc, we follow the Tiny Toons and their various summer break misadventures.
One of the most iconic parts in addition to the Buster and Babs in a Deliverance parody, Plucky and Hamton’s trip to a Disneyland parody, and even one of Fifi La Fume’s best roles, the Tokyo Movie Shinsha crew being credited at the end of this special.

For creating my "Tiny Toons" OC, Babes Bunny, I took a bit of inspiration from Babs Bunny and gave him a coat of red, since red and pink are in the same color family.
Aside from having the same ability to perform multiple impressions like his sister, Babs, I also took a bit of inspiration from Aladdin's Genie. Although, since "Tiny Toon Adventures" came out before "Aladdin", I wanted to save Babes singing a cover of "Friend Like Me" for the PC game, "Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster and the Beanstalk" (which would later be ported to the PlayStation in 1998 as "Tiny Toon Adventures: The Great Beanstalk"). I still allowed Babes to use "Aladdin" references in "Animaniacs" (the show, not the TTA episode).
Overall, Babes would still be a supporting OC for the first two seasons of "Tiny Toon Adventures", with Babes absent from season 3 if the events of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" are canon to the show. Despite this, Babes also has time to shine within "Animaniacs" as The Warner siblings' genie (even though I chose for Babes to be Wakko's pet bunny), Background Singer's occasional sidekick, and another prize for Waldo to hunt.
