Tag: Word Find CCXXXV
Aw yeah I got tagged in a tag game.  Thanks, @zmlorenz  I love participating
My words were night, near, new, and neighbour
NIGHT (found in Voidsong: The Witchling, chapter 3: The Night Market [i suppose i am not surprised])
The city of Ny Myrkhimmin took in drifters and outcasts like the eager embrace of a lover.  The streets were bathed in perpetual midnight, the only illumination coming from intermittent and unreliable streetlights and lamps in front of ramshackle buildings.  The air was ever frigid, the dome’s life support systems unable to quite keep up with the gnawing, biting cold of the frozen rock under their feet or the void over their heads.  The air was thick with the reek of smoke and oil and food and garbage and life, and the narrow, tangled streets were ever loud with the racket of the comings, goings, and dealings of travelers from all parts of the galaxy.  The two witches glided through the confusion like ghosts, though Saoirse wanted badly to stop and take in the spectacle.
Helga led her through the maze following the smell of smoke and, soon, of food.  After a while, the impenetrable mire of crumbling buildings stacked dubiously atop each other broke away to a wide open forum cluttered with market stalls.  The buildings along one side all had open patios and bars and flickering neon signs, filling the air with a toothsome smell.  Saoirse gawked at the spectacle like a little girl watching tumblers at a carnival and muttered, “Oh, this is great.”
“Welcome to the night market,” Helga replied with an approving smile.  “Now, what would you like to eat?  We can find anything.”
NEAR (found in Voidsong: The Witchling, chapter 5: Ikayaki.  Three times in succession, golly)
More storm-bolts struck the Black Wolf as it drew nearer to the eye.  The ship shook, the lights flickered, and Nirtovi shouted, “Helga, you have to tell them to fall back!  This thing’s storms are too much!”
“The shields will hold,” the voidwitch replied.
“Loki’s ropes!  Between the shields and the siegebreaker, how much strain can your reactor take?  It must be near to overheating!”
“The shields will hold for long enough.  It is almost over now.”
The Black Wolf stayed fixed upon the injured eye as the wounded beast slowed in its turning.  Soon they were close enough that the eye filled the whole of their vision as storm-bolts rocked the ship from stem to stern, and Nirtovi was sure they were about to ram into it, but as the siegebreaker fired one last time, the Black Wolf banked hard upwards, knocking them all—even Helga—onto their asses as their minds were nearly sundered by a deafening psychic death-rattle.  Recovering themselves, they looked back out the viewports and saw that the light had now died in the kraken’s damaged eye, and that the beast was no longer maneuvering its ponderous mass to present them its arms and beak, but drifted in the void without spark or intelligence.
“Victory,” Helga whispered, a grin spreading across her face.
NEW (showed up in Voidsong: The Witchling’s epilogue, Two Homecomings, so I guess call this a sneak preview)
The dark elves cheered their approval, and Helga concluded:  “But, before that, I would like to augment our skeleton crew a bit.  I would like to make my own little homecoming.”
The dark elves’ cheers of approval turned into gasps of disbelief, and Nirtovi put a hand to her forehead and muttered, “Oh, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
“I have never kid anyone before in my life.”
“Helga, other than the many new and fascinating varieties of ice, what the fuck is on Isa?”
NEIGHBOR (I had to hunt far and wide for an instance of the word “Neighbor.”  Out of all my active WiPs, I’ve used it exactly one time, in chapter 3: In the Family Way of my as-yet-untitled sequel to The Big Job so I guess you can consider this yet another sneak preview lmao)
Katya was too nervous to ask questions on the drive north, and Ash didn’t volunteer any information, but a painfully long drive through afternoon traffic on I-75 eventually brought them to a decaying residential suburb adjacent to a sprawl of housing projects.  The house at the end of the lane where Ash parked the car didn’t look any different from its neighbors, save for a sign in the front yard.  It was an obnoxious shade of pink and bore a black Venus symbol ending in a clenched fist.
“Oh,” Katya said, nodding, “this is one of those whatchacallit type places.”
Ash laughed.  “Yes, Kat, it’s one of those whatchacallit type places.  Now, this crew is pretty old-fashioned, and a lot of the signage and stuff is gonna be pretty . . . uh . . .” She snapped her fingers, searching for the right word.
“Cisnormative?” Nix offered.
“Yeah, that’s what it’s called.  But I promise they’re good people, in a couple of relevant ways.  This is where Jackie gets his testosterone.”
They piled out of the car and headed for the front door, which bore only a simple plaque reading “A Place For Women.”  Ash opened the door and strode in like she owned the place, surprising the receptionist who sat behind a mahogany desk in the foyer.  Without giving her time to react, Ash said, “Yeah, hi, we spoke on the phone a little bit ago.  I need to see Dr. Farkas.”
***
Oh heck yeah.  Now it’s my turn uhhhhhh I tag @renniequeer @borinquenaqueer @red-the-dragon-writes and anybody else who wants to participate and the words are uhhhhhhhh fight, love, queer, confusion, and sword

All the numbers. (If not all then pick and choose a handful to answer).
lol you’re really going for it anon, huh?? 😂 bless your heart. I’ll do all of them and then idk. if anybody wants to send any again, I’m sure I can have a different answer
(I did just answer 7 & 22 so I’ll leave those out. rest below the cut)
1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?
I guess if you count all of my active WIPs that have been sitting dormant for months or years, there’s those since I like. I know what I’m doing in pretty much all of them, just as I know what I’m doing in some of my unpublished WIPs, but I think I just need to be in a certain mood/energy to do certain ones (ie, Agony esp is a very heavy fic so I gotta be able to Deal with that)
2) what work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing?
I deleted those 😂😂😂 but some of my reeeeeealllllly old stuff is still out there and I cringe thinking about that and though I could easily delete those too, I’m keeping them just since the harddrive that has the docs for it is corrupted lol
3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?
Just all over the place these days tbh. Even chapter to chapter it’ll change, I’ll write snippets in future chapters--and I’m talking like three or four chapters ahead--just to get it out there. But then there’s other days where I’ll sit and just write and not stop.
4) favorite character you’ve written
Nick Stokes, of course 💜💜💜
5) character you were most surprised to end up writing
Any of the Macgyver characters outside of Jack. Cause though I’ll claim not to all the time, I do know that I know the CSI characters (though I’m surprised I’m able to write in their POVs outside of Nick.) I grew up with them. I have a bond with them. The mac characters? I’ve only known for like. two years now and not even that well anymore since I’ve stopped watching the show.
6) something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now
Expanding on details. Almost every fic I write, I’ll read it again later and be like “ah shit I should have run with this idea...” but I guess that’s how I can do a sequel/missing scene
8) favorite genre to write
hurt/comfort (emphasis on the hurt, really I mean we’re talking like borderline horror)
9) what, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
See I haven’t really honed in on any one particular thing that inspires me to write. It comes out of nowhere, and the following list of things doesn’t like, always work. When I’m listening to a song. When I’m driving in the car. When I’m watching something unrelated to the source material (totes got some inspiring vibes watching Falcon and The Winter Soldier yesterday tbh lmao) When I dream. When I go on a walk. When people send me asks and I just go the fuck off and suddenly ten chapters later I’m writing a fic that they probably didn’t even want (coughSpecimenStokescough)
10) write in silence or with background noise? with people or alone?
I think the last couple times I’ve like, really written it’s been in silence. Definitely alone. Don’t got people to write around, really lmao (unless you count my parents being in other rooms with obnoxiously loud televisions and tablets)
11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
All of it. And I’m sure it’ll keep improving.
12) your weaknesses as an author
Dialogue. I don’t know how people talk 😂
13) your strengths as an author
Detail, description, and I also like to think--emotion? but idk. It’s hard for me to assess my strength tbh
14) do you make playlists for your current wips?
Oh YES! At least for the longer WIPs like Last Breath or Agony. And listen to it on a loop when I’m trying to brainstorm or write if I want to write with music on. I’ve been starting to link the playlists when I’m doing with the fic (which is not many so far)
(I think Hellbound is the only one-shot I made a playlist for that I didn’t share)
15) why did you start writing?
I honestly can’t remember, cause I think I’ve been writing stories (fan fiction or not) ever since I was in middle school?? Maybe even elementary? But I do feel like I had gotten more encouragement for it than drawing from the few people in my life that did actively cheer me on, and there’s just something about writing that is so...fulfilling? Esp since I can’t like. Just manifest the images or make the “movie” in my head, at least I can write them down and hopefully convey what I see/feel in my mind through words.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?
All my neglected OCs lmao. I did and I guess on some level still do want to make an original series.
In a chilling way Veronica also haunts me cause I realize how much of that like, darkness in myself I put in her.
And Nick, well, he’s just always on my mind.
17) if you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be?
Just fucking go for it! Don’t give a shit if anybody will read it or not. Take your time, flesh out those details. Describe what you see, what they see, what they feel.
If you think you’re going too far...you’re not.
keep going
18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
I mean any fan fiction I read in the past has probably influenced me on some level. I know that when I came back to CSI in 2018, reading all of kristen999′s nick whump def encouraged me cause I was like “oh...there’s others like me who like to see him hurt!?!?” and I do think that maybe sometimes after I read a fic, I might like. Try to incorporate those styles I see. The way words are described, sentences constructed. Not like, copy of course but I feel like a long time ago my writing wasn’t really idk, novel-like? very short, almost read like a script whereas now, since I’ve seen the way people write their stories (some novel length stories, too), I flesh mine out a lot more.
19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?
I don’t 😂 Thinking of my bigger projects like Agony, I do just kind make up some of it as I go with a rough outline although sometimes it is a bit more detailed--like First Flight actually has a super detailed outline but I know that once I start writing, something might come up, some twist I didn’t think of before--or even one that somebody suggests to me, but idk I feel like I do have a way of tying everything together regardless? Cause especially with those bigger WIPs I will try to go back and re-read if something seems familiar or if I’ve forgotten a detail, or if I’m planning on diving back into it after a long break from it.
20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts?
Depends. I feel more accomplished with the long sit down sessions so I target that, but lately it’s been little spurts with maybe one big dump at the end of the week.
21) what do you think when you read over your older work?
Mostly cringe, but there are times I’m like “holy shit this is really good???”
like I remember recently I re-read Agony and loved it, when I wanted to delete it maybe like. a week before that. I think it honestly depends on my frame of mind, and why I’m going back to read the fic? Cause I’ve had times where I’m like “wait what was this one?” and then I read it and laugh at how bad it is, but then other times where I’m like, “I wanna read that one fic I did...” and then I do and it makes me happy.
But, I will always kinda criticize at the same time--”aw, I could do this better, I could have expanded on this,” etc
23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?
My life is suuuuuuper boring so. not really lmao. One of my earliest CSI fics that actually created what I consider to be my number one OC (she’d be the lead in that original series I mentioned earlier) came out of me sitting and staring into a campfire lmao.
also there was this teacher I had (one of those good IRL supports) that told me a story of something that happened to her (or was it her daughter?) and I turned it into a story (back in my teen days) so. I guess there are somethings.
24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?
Expert? No. But I will do numerous google searches to try and figure some stuff out and get lost in a rabbit hole of “research” for a while and hope that when I do write it, it comes off as I know what I’m doing when really, I do not lol.
25) copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of
haven’t really written much in this past week, and certainly nothing to be proud of, but this line hit me like a ton of bricks for Specimen Stokes and I’m in love with it:
“Because, my dear specimen, I wanted to see if you loved the danger...or if you loved me.”

💖👀🖊️🏅📊 📝✨ 💻🍰
*voice like that one guy from Kung Pow* That's a lot of asks!
💖 What do you like most about your own writing?
Hmm I like the Claudeleth I like the bantz and the deepest lore, even though I sometimes don't get far enough to show the deepest lore lmao
👀 Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?
I started a Kronya redemption fic, but I gave up on because it was a bit too edgy for me lmao
🖊 Post a snippet from a current WIP.
You know, you could just read one of the many things I send to you to be beta'd... Anyway here's something from a Claude sees ghosts AU that I hope to post as soon as someone checks it over.
“But I doubt I can consider myself a friend to horses anymore if my old mount here cannot feel my brush, or even see me.” Godfrey lowered his arm dejectedly. “All those years we’ve spent together was not enough to pierce the veil between the living and the dead…”
His melancholy whisper faded into silence. Claude had no idea how to turn this conversation around, not when he didn’t know that this horse was Godfrey’s horse until recently. He could only step into the stall, pick up a real grooming brush nearby, and stroke the horse’s mane. The horse nickered in satisfaction.
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).
One of my favorite fics I've written recently reached 100 kudos so cheers to that. :D
📊 Current number of WIPs
Oh god uhhh I have 11 WIPs currently posted (most of which probably won't be finished anytime soon rip) and like 7 unposted WIPs.
📝 What is one growth area you have for your writing?
I need to get better at ending chapters and fics. Most of the time I end it on dialogue, people falling asleep, or on an overly sappy note. Which is fine in a vacuum I guess, but when I keep doing it over and over again, it's something I need to fix lol
✨ Choose three adjectives to complement your own writing.
Interesting, thorough, heart-warming. I would put down long but idk if that's really a complement...
💻 Do you do research for your fics? What’s the deepest dive you’ve done?
I do a lot of research because I write a lot of fics with worldbuilding. I don't know what my deepest dive would be, but most recently, I was looking up the fravashi of Zoroastrianism to use as a basis for the aforementioned Claude sees ghosts fic. A lot of lore about Zoroastrian fravashis didn't make it into the fic, but it was fun to research about!
🍰 Name one of your fave comfort fics (doesn’t have to be your all time fave).
Are we talking about fics that I've written? I guess Under a Shared Sky is comfortable for me to write (or at least think about writing) just because I've been at it for so long. But I also like thinking about an unpublished Claudeleth childhood friends AU I've made a good amount of progress on, because that fic is cute and fluffy and has a lot of lore about wyverns. :3c

hi hello jen💕 i always love the recs you give and i guess it's my turn to ask for some recs, even though you've already been giving out a lot today! the deleted sketch really made me want to read some jock!harry fics so i was wondering if you had any good recs for that? like some jock!harry larry fics feels a bit too... hetero if you know what i mean?
Lmao, that’s fine, they’re easy to give! I’m just running around today, so it’s tougher to be more thorough (like, I *know* I have an amazing swimteam one, and I cannot find it, don’t really have time to search for it, ugh). ANYWAY, UH YUH, I KNOW THE VIBE OF WHICH YOU SPEAK, U R SAFE HERE! These aren’t all necessarily bh, but they are *not* asshole jock Harry:
Give It to Me (I’m Worth It), by sweaterpawstyles, louis/harry, 3.8k words, E. Louis can’t resist Harry in the red shorts that he wore during the James Corden skit. Featuring locker room sex. (look, it’s a stretch, but they’re playing sports, and I love it, so enjoy!)
So Much Left to Say, by myownspark, louis/harry, 7.6k words, M. Harry and Louis play for rival high school football teams, and when they play against each other in the Homecoming game, someone has to lose. (SO FUCKING SOFT AND TENDER, I get major Hush vibes from it)
Strength in Softness, by larrymylove, louis/harry, 16k words, M. As he started at the picture, he wondered if Harry had pink nail varnish on his toes when it was taken, and what other tattoos and secrets he had buried underneath his workout gear and hard expression. (personal trainer Harry, lots of emotional things happening)
and your light’s always shining on series, by orphan_account (needs ao3), louis/harry, 16.8k words, E. Louis sends him lots of messages with exclamation marks and so proud of u haz !! and that save was brilliant ! and u look so cute when ur angry :p. Harry replies back with lots of heart emojis and pictures of himself shirtless and still in bed, grinning like an idiot, and Louis saves all of Harry’s pictures. (louis plays for real madrid, harry plays for liverpool)
All the Right Moves, by cherrystreet, louis/harry, 32k words, E. This is the third game in a row that Harry has been distracted by the noisy boy in the stands, five rows back. There’s really no reason that he should feel compelled to stare into the audience as frequently as he is, but he can’t help it. This boy is a nuisance. And he’s loud. Even from basketball court with nine other players running by him, shoes squeaking on the shiny hardwood floor, and thousands of cheering college students. (basketball star Harry Styles!!)
Be My Little Good Luck Charm, by 100percentsassy, louis/harry, 34k words, E.  In which Harry is a promising amateur golfer making his debut at the PGA Championship, and Louis is a Sky Sports anchor who would really rather be commentating on footie. (a modern classic)
Small Does series, by QuickedWeen, louis/harry, 45k words, E. Louis Tomlinson finds himself at Vitality Fitness to try and turn his life around after having left his cheating boyfriend of four years. The gym’s owner, Liam, quickly becomes a good friend, but his right hand man is rude and dismissive from the get-go. (I know, I know, I love it, okay?)
One for Luck, by leavingonatrain, louis/harry, 96k words, E. The very first time Louis remembers hearing Harry Styles’ deep, deep voice, he’s just won gold at the World Equestrian Games and he’s officially back on Great Britain’s Olympic team. He’s also three sheets to the wind, drunk on victory and champagne, and there’s a gorgeous boy whispering in his ear. Life’s grand. (so many AMAZING horse fics out there, i stg)
The Finish Line (Is a Good Place to Start), by loadedgunn, louis/harry, 121k words, E. Louis Tomlinson, one-time Formula 1 World Champion, is looking forward to the 2013 season. He’s got Zayn in his garage and Liam in his ear, he’s got Cowell Racing backing him despite former indiscretions, he’s got experience and the best race car out there. Not to mention he’s the only racer they have, after Oliver dropped out late last year.It hasn’t occurred to him that Oliver would have to be replaced by February. That is, until he finds himself at a party celebrating Harry Styles leaving Ferrari for Cowell. (oh, MAN, a fave)
..and if you want to cry with me about an amazing wip, check out The Joy I’ve Named Shall Not Be Tamed, by 100percentsassy and gloriaandews, where  Louis is a flash-in-the-pan tennis star trying to mount a comeback after what should have been a career-ending injury. Harry, who walked away from tennis just as he was poised to dominate the sport, is his new coach.
ETA: I FOUND THE SWIM TEAM ONE, THEY ARE BOTH JOCKS, HOORAY!

get to know the writer tag
tagged by @the-color-of-roseblood, @ghost-possum, and @thevajunglebook. thank you for tagging me and i’m sorry it took this long.
i’m bad at coming up with questions so i’m not going to do the 10 questions. but i am going to answer the questions that were listed. also this is an open tag, so anyone who wants to do it can do it.
rules: answer 10 questions, create 10 new questions, and then tag 10 people
from the-color-of-roseblood:
1) We always talk about favorites. What’s your least favorite book?
hmmm. one book i’ve always hated is the scarlett letter. we read it in school and it was awful.
2) Do you have a favorite place to write? What’s it like there?
i didn’t really have a favorite place to write until recently. a few months ago i finally got a desk and i’ve been in love with it ever since.
very, very cluttered. there’s all kinds of stuff piled on it. on one side i’ve got soda cans, plastic bottles, my phone; the other side is junk food, my glasses case, a couple of necklaces. i have an old sugar plum fairie barbie on the top shelf that i tried to sell, that nobody wanted even though i had it for like $5 (i might post a picture of it later bc it’s super pretty).
3) Do you have any artistic endeavors other than writing? If not, what else would you most like to learn to do?
back before the writing bug really bit me, i used to draw all the time. now i barely ever draw unless i get really inspired.
hmmm, i don’t know. maybe sign up for duolingo and learn other languages?? other than that i don’t know.
4) What’s your favorite holiday? Why? Have you ever written a story involving that holiday?
halloween is my favorite, followed closely by christmas just bc i love the tacky decorations and the music and the movies and pretty much everything about it.
looool i have tried to write fics involving these holidays, but they never come out how i want them to and i’ve kind of given up on it.
5) How do you fight writer’s block?
silly answer: drink so much caffeine i ascend to the astral plane to get advice from the writing gods.
actual answer: there’s not really an easy way to answer this. sometimes i see writing posts that are like, “you have to write every day!!” and i’m thinking y’know that’s not always possible. whether i’m out of inspiration/ideas, or i’m in a depression spiral, or i’m tired from work, or maybe i’m just not feeling that particular project. it’s not a sin to need a break from your wips, bc even though it’s happy work it’s still work. and there’s no shame in needing to take a breather to get yourself sorted out.
on days when i’m ready to write, i do different things to get myself pumped up for my wips. i’ll make playlists, make aesthetic boards, sometimes i torture my mutuals with rambles about my ocs or tag them with little excerpts from the project. i really like making an aesthetic tag so i can go and look at all the pretty stuff that makes me think of the wip, so i can remind myself why i want to write it in the first place.
6) At what point in a WIP do you decide to send it to your first beta readers/reviewers?
probably not until i’m at least done with a second draft. the first draft needs to have all those plot holes filled, all those loose threads woven back together, characters need developing. showing a beta reader my first draft would be like taking a person to a room filled with beginning sketches of people where they’re still just shapes instead of having any defining features.
7) What’s your greatest inspiration?
i don’t think i have one lol.
8) A lot of writers have certain things they like to describe - food, clothes, fights, party scenes. What’s your favorite thing to describe?
emotional scenes where characters talk about their problems and they hug and maybe even cry. i’m a terrible person.
9) What’s your approximate ratio of reading to writing? How do you find time for both? Do you do both on the same day, or split it up?
you’re going to judge me for this, but i haven’t been reading actual books lol. the last few months i’ve just been reading fanfic oneshots with like the occasional multichapter fic thrown in. my attention span has been terrible.
10) What books would you recommend to someone to get them into reading?
i think it depends on the person. what i might find compelling, someone else might find super boring.
from ghost-possum:
1. What is your favorite book in a genre that you don’t tend to write? If you do fantasy/sci-fi, what’s your favorite romance? If you write literary, what’s your favorite paranormal YA?
i don’t really like writing stuff that doesn’t have some kind of paranormal element. so i guess i’d say my writing enemy that i like reading is real world drama.
my favorite books that are like idk period pieces i guess?? are Anne of Green Gables and Pride and Prejudice.
as for stuff that’s based in more recent times, there’s a ya series i really like called tiny pretty things that’s about a group of ballerinas competing against each other for spots for prima ballerina?? and there’s a lot of drama and backstabbing. it’s kind of a dark series.
2. What book would you love to see turned into a movie or tv show? Any particular reasons why?
i can’t think of anything right now. maybe green angel by alice hoffman?
3. Have you ever written a character with a certain real-life person in mind. Was it someone you know in real life or someone famous?
some of my ocs were originally based off acquaintances, but as i kept writing them the characters changed so much that they became pretty much unrecognizable.
4. If your latest WIP had a color scheme, what would it be?
paper heart would be red, orange, pink, and purple. the colors of a sunset with the threat of darkness falling over everything.
5. What do you eat or drink while writing (if anything)?
s’mores poptarts if i’m too lazy to get up and fix myself something. chips. different sodas: cherry coke, sunkist, grape fanta.
6. What do you do to restore your inspiration when you’re not writing?
watch movies/tv shows. listen to podcasts or music. look at cool pictures.
7. Coffee, Tea, Booze, or ALL THREE?
coffee and booze. i’m not a big fan of tea.
8. Who is your favorite visual artist?
uhhhh, does studio ghibli count? their artwork is so appealing to look at.
9. Do you have any other creative pursuits outside of writing? What are they?
maybe learning other languages??
10. What is your favorite trope, the one you will always fall for and never get enough of?
AAAAAAAAAAA, ENEMIES TO FRIENDS TO LOVERS.
from thevajunglebook:
1. Describe your WIP as a cross between two movies.
i’m trying to think of what paper heart would be, but i’m drawing a blank. this needs to be its own game where someone else guesses what movies your wip is the lovechild of.
2. What’s your favorite part of writing communities?
cheering on and also being cheered on during the writing process. getting to read all these wonderful stories written by wonderful people. knowing other people are suffering just as much as i am lol.
3. If you could collaborate with any writer (whether friend or idol), who would it be and what would you work on together?
i am terrible at collaborating with other people lol.
4. Do you prefer reading/writing standalones or series?
i love reading series, but i’m not good at writing them lol. yet somehow i always end up writing series.
5. Who is your ultimate OC otp(+)?
canon: for the next three days verse it’s between leana/yvonne and jason/bella for otp status. my ot5 is carter/matteo/violet/tiffany/nina.
for defect i’d say my otp is joe/alec. also ethan/noah later on down the line.
ot3: ned/alec/sage
ot4: ned/alec/joe/ray.
au: joe/ned/carter
.
for the graveyard of the forgotten it’s definitely orrinaz/eliya/amnayel.
6. If your OC(s) joined tumblr, what type of blog would they run?
i wish i could answer this question with the dedication it deserves. i feel like their blogs would have a lot of memes and shitposts with some aesthetic stuff thrown in.
7. If you could write an adaptation of any story, which would it be?
while i have zero desire to write an adaptation for a story, i’ve always liked the idea of a movie version of Green Angel by Alice Hoffman. mostly bc it’s surreal, a little weird, post apocalyptic, and it would just look really cool.
8. What common writing tips never work for you? And/or what uncommon advice do you swear by?
anything that’s like, “if you don’t write everyday, you’re not a real writer!!” like chill dude. just bc i’m not cranking out 1,000 words a day like some lean, mean, writing machine doesn’t mean i’m not dedicated to what i’m doing.
9. Do you research before, during, or after writing sessions?
it depends. sometimes i get to a point in a fic where i’m like, “uh oh” and i go into a research spiral trying to find this one specific thing. thinking ah yes, this is the specific thing i need at this very moment that i probably could do without.
10. Have you had a writing epiphany that totally revamped your WIP?
if only. there were a few game changers in the next three days series that changed things for the better:
- the way carter and matteo first met lmao.
- violet’s existence.
- sage rescuing and then leaving violet and carter.
- carter and nina’s bromance.
- alec and carter, and also joe and matteo being siblings.
- tiffany seeing ghosts.

WIP Tag:
this one’s gonna be a doozy. i really need people to love me right now lmaoooo
tagged by the love of my life @zeldaismyhomegirl you get that subculture pallet girl, im here for you if you need some cheerleading!
(I’m including five wips. Bell Toll 13, my novel Untitled, a yoi clusterfuck called Serendipity, another yoi clusterfuck called Cabaret, and an Evak tentatively titled Pacing. This is gonna be a long fucking post so if you actually care about my wips and stuff, give it a look, but yeah. very long lmao)
First Line Tag:
Bell Toll:
“Pick up, pick up, pick up...”
“Hi!”
“Oh, thank fuck, Vic–”
“I’m sorry, but you haven’t reached Victor Nikiforov...”
“Goddamnit! .... Oh my god, okay, yeah hi, Victor. I can’t do this. Pick me up. Pick me up right goddamn now.”
(I gave you a few lines but... I mean clearly I haven’t worked on it at all because I want death and if I even continue I have to revamp a lot of it so.... idk be patient with me.)
Untitled (novel): To feel comfortably alone is a state of being few can achieve, incomparable to mindfulness or zen, it isn’t simplistic enough to sum up in a book or a magazine article.
(Wow... so much plot... so much insight... aren’t cha soooooo curious)
Serendipity: A pair of tired eyes and unshaven cheeks prowled down the street, headed for the intersection. With his hands in his pockets, he huffed out a cloud of fog, breath cooling before his eyes in the November wind.
(wow... that could be literally anybody in literally anything.... so specific... im such a genius)
Cabaret: A wide eyed tourist apologized in clumsy French, bowed his head, and stole away into the night with his nose to the pavement. He was looking for something.
(Lmao three guesses who that mess could be.)
Pacing: What he loved the most was that dumb little smirk, the way the corners of that mouth creased up to accommodate it. The degree in which thin lips smirked communicated a variety of emotions outside of expected smugness.
~*~
Any Line and/or Favorite Line (aka teaser line):
Bell Toll: “Yuri!”
Standing a few paces into the hallway, Karl took in his roommate’s bare skin– and the way his arm was folded up to cushion his face against the doorframe– with badly concealed horror. In a state of undress Yuri hadn’t really seen before, Karl blinked from behind frameless reading glasses.
“What’re you doing here..?”
(Say something about my ocs. This whole interaction is golden, you don’t even knowwwwwwwwww the roommate is an easter egg for my aussie buddy.)
Untitled (novel): He processed the familiar bass in that voice he’d heard so much of now spoken from the lips of a complete stranger. He could’ve passed this man on the street, oblivious to how close they were in mind alone. Now there was a body to learn and understand, a thin face with stark, angular features to study, dark eyes to gaze into. Hidden under a strong brow, his eyes could’ve been blue or brown, their color minimized by the darkness that shadowed them, but they were warm and inviting regardless of their color. They drew him in.
“What can’t you learn from books?”
(heh heh heh >:3c everything i touch is gay. what can i say, im a book twink. also, lemme know what you think. i started the demo and ill post it soon.)
Serendipity: (This is gonna be a little long cuz i love this whole section)
With his head hung, Yuuri hustled into the shop at 6:15. His eyes were cast down, avoiding whatever look Charlie wore on her face. She hated having to open alone. He headed fast into the back room to hang up his coat. He was barely finished unraveling his scarf and pulling off his hat when the first customers trickled in. He set to work right away, diligently pulling perfect shots for a few lattes and seeing the early risers off on their days. After putting thankful smiles on three faces, he was brave enough to face Charlie who was standing at the other end of the bar with her jaw on the floor.
“Yuuri,” she started, sifting through her vocabulary for the right words to say, “you are–”
“Late, I’m sorry,” he apologized automatically. “I had a... I’m sorry.” He nervously scrubbed his hand over his face, raking it back through his hair slick from the shower. A navy blue hat swept it back out of his face. The bridge of his nose felt naked in the absence of his glasses.
“Are you wearing contacts?” Charlie questioned, openly ignoring his incessant apologies. Yuuri could feel her eyes on him. He looked in her general direction but never at her face.
“I lost my glasses,” he admitted, thanking his lucky stars that he managed to find a set of contacts at the last second. “Have you seen them?” He chanced a look at her face. She’d opted for gloss instead of her usual black lip today. The edge of her nail poked at the side of her mouth. Her eyes were lidded with a look of consideration, but her brows were lifted. She regarded him with approval he couldn’t recognize as such. He frowned. “I know, I look like a mole. You don’t have to say it.”
“You look hot, Yuuri,” she promptly disagreed. She took in all the lines that made up Yuri’s face. Without his glasses, he had to focus his vision tightly on what he was doing. It made his jaw set and his brows sinche together. His cheeks weren’t hollow and gaunt, but that didn’t stop the high points of his cheekbones from casting shadows down his face. There was something different about the way he carried himself that put it all together. “Did you get laid last night?” she asked, and the shock widened his eyes, making him look more like his usual nervous self.
“No,” he denied, cheeks turning red. Charlie smiled at the chance to poke fun.
“You totally did, don’t lie. You seem looser. Come on, was it your roommate? The… the shady one. What’s his name?”
“I am not–” he shot off with defensively high volume, finishing his thought with a little more composure when a woman looked up from her book,“I am not having sex with my roommate.”
“Something happened.”
“No it didn’t.”
“Tell me.”
“There’s nothing to tell!”
“You fold like a lawn chair. Tell me what happened... Yuuri! Fold! Fold! Fold!”
“Yuuri!”
A cheerful voice cut through the struggle and Charlie fell silent. Out of the snow’s wrath, Victor sighed and loosened his scarf to unveil more of his face. Snowflakes melted in his hair and on his lashes. His cheeks were flushed, but he beamed with a cheeriness no human could possess in such miserable weather. He stopped at the counter, brightly greeting Yuuri and a girl Victor saw a lot but never learned the name of.
“You left your glasses in my car.”
(Coffee shop shenanigans! also Charlie looks like Lauren Hill and I’d die for her)
Cabaret:
“Why do you do it?” Otabek asked, letting the question hang in the air while Yuri slowly picked apart the buttons on his shirt with pruned fingers. Water from the bath spilled over the sides and onto the tiled floor, but Otabek stayed still and peaceful.
“Because I love men,” he replied somberly, “this is the best way to catch their eyes in that way...” Yuri leaned further out of the tub, the dimples at the base of his spine rising up out of the water. He ghosted the pads of his fingers down past Otabek’s collarbones over his heart. His skin was tanner than Yuri’s, warm and taut over strong muscle. “Perhaps someday I’ll find someone who isn’t disgusted by me,” he added as an afterthought, “but that’ll take years if it happens at all.”
(think 1920s france, the soviet union was just formed, jj is an asshole)
Pacing:
“Wait.” His words contradicted his actions, his nails scratched over Even’s scalp, displacing his hair. Even the tone of his voice disagreed with the command to wait. But the last thing Even wanted was to make Isak uncomfortable. Running his nose over the seam between his abs, he froze in place and waited for an explanation. “This isn’t fair to you...” Isak admitted from deep within himself. His brow was furrowed in thought. “I don’t... What if I can’t do the same for you?”
(ill probably just write this as a one shot cuz i dont even really see people wanting this but oh well lol)
And thats my wips! Not gonna tag anyone, but if you like, send me your wips id be glad to give you feedback and PLEASE read me to filth. if these call out to you lemme know!
