Jordanna Sparkburn | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Out of the Shadows

Jordanna Sparkburn is a member of a cadet branch of the wealthy San Tekka family. She was born on the frontier planet of Tikkae, which was a San Tekka holding. She grew up with the expectation of succeeding her aunt as the San Tekka deputy of the planet. In the year before the Great Hyperspace Disaster, she fell in love with Sylvestri Yarrow, the daughter of a hauler who was spending time on the planet. When it was time for Sylvestri to rejoin her mother, she offered for Jordanna to join her. Not wanting to abandon her duty, she declined and they separated on poor terms.

Later, when the Nihil attacked and destroyed Tikkae, she joined the Jedi Imri Canatas, Cohmac Vitus, Reath Silas, and Vernestra Rwoh to travel to Coruscant where she could get into contact with the San Teka family. The San Tekka family sent her to accompany a Senate investigation into the Berenge Sector, which used to be owned by the San Tekkas. This investigation included the four Jedi she had already met, Xylan Graf, and her ex- Sylvestri. Xylan believed that the Berenge Sector was being used for Nihil experimentation into a Mass Shadow Generator, which Slyvestri’s mother was helping them build. In the course of all the intrigue and danger in Out of the Shadows, Sylvestri and Jordanna work through the bad feelings they separated on. After the events of the novel, now that Jordanna had no posting, she decides to join Sylvestri and they set off on their new ship to see what jobs Maz Kanata has for them. 

Kevmo Zink | Identity: pansexual | Media: The High Republic Phase II

Kevmo Zink was a Jedi Padawan who traveled to Dalna with his master Zallah Marci to investigate if the Force cult The Path of the Open Hand was involved in the theft of the Rod of Seasons. There, he met Marda Ro, who was a member of the Path. Amongst all the intrigue, the two began a hesitant romance despite their completely opposed theologies. Despite even earning the trust of many of the Path by saving a family of Kessarine when the caves they lived in flooded, the conflict between the Path and the Jedi was unavoidable. When he ran into the Mother’s newly hatched Leveler, it consumed him and Zallah. Marda took his lightsaber and made what justifications she needed to remain loyal to the Path. Kevmo continued to haunt Marda, with it being ambiguous if this was her own guilt or a manifestation of the Force. Kevmo was a promising Jedi Padawan, eager to help and interested in learning about other people. However this came with a certain level of naivety and disbelief when it came to the views of the Path and what such views really meant. He believed he could convince Marda to leave the Path and reveal where the stolen Force artifacts were, while simultaneously being conflicted about what his love for her meant regarding his own future as a Jedi. He had a level of eagerness and openness, including “accidentally flirt[ing] with nearly every life-form he came across”, which tempted with experience meant he could have been a great Jedi.

My favorite thing is how amy tries to get shadow out of his usual comfort zone and invite's him to do stuff with her that he probably wouldn't do with other people.

like listening to some taylor swift together in the twitter takeover when she discovered he was a swiftie.

Or even when he was getting tickets for her to go to the hot honey concert in the murder of the sonic the hedgehog for her last second birthday present cause he forgot, she wants him to go with her too with her request.

I like how he doesn't DENY these request's too, if he didn't wanna do it he'd immediately disapprove it, but he knows deep down it could actually be fun.

it shows they definitely has some trust with each other, and definitely have some fun going to places on the side, mostly by amy's request, he defs wouldn't normally just go up to someone and ask to go to a concert with him SNSNSN

No, but, the fact that touching the hand to the forehead is considered a gesture of thankfulness and respect. That kissing the hand is a respectful greeting, one of admiration; of devotion. That bowing and kneeling, ducking oneself below the level of the other, is a literal gesture of allegiance - a vassal position.

That the knight would often wear the colors of his lady (that's the gold mirroring! That's the symbolism!). That Hamburg literally was like what if...I touched her hand to my face, delicately touched her wrist, expecting no more from her, but she is the one to lift up, to assure of reciprocal desire. That others have him touch her hand but remove it as though it were improper to be so bold. That he, apparently, pledged himself to her for the *rest of his life*.

Yrica Quell | Identity: bisexual | Media: Alphabet Squadron Trilogy

Yrica Quell is the main protagonist of the Alphabet Squadron trilogy. In her childhood, she had multiple relationships with both men and women. One of the most important was with a woman named Nette who attempted to join the Alliance, but likely never made it. At her urging, she joined the Empire to get training as a pilot but then never defected to the Rebellion because of her loyalty to her comrades. She is an exploration of the theme of redemption that undergirds the entire saga, but specifically what comes next. She is forced to defect by her mentor after participating in Operation Cinder. Traumatized and depressed, she is recruited into a New Republic task force attempting to take down her old unit of elite pilots- Shadow Wing.

This unit becomes Alphabet Squadron, where she finds a new found family. She also becomes a protegee to Hera Syndulla, as they both learn what it takes to win and establish a new government. She grows into being a leader, but abandons them after her actual involvement in Operation Cinder is exposed. She rejoins Shadow Wing to take them down from the inside. In the process, she discovers that Emperor Palpatine had a database of every Imperial atrocity. The question is how society can move forward when a large portion of them have been party to one atrocity or another, especially her. 

After the war, she opens an intra-system cargo company and eventually properly begins a romantic relationship with Chass na Chadic, a member of Alphabet Squadron.

Sylvestri Yarrow | Identity: lesbian | Media: The High Republic Out of the Shadows

Sylvestri Yarrow was raised by her mother, Chancy Yarrow, on her ship, the Switchback. She raised her daughter to be cynical and taught her a lot of navigational and survival skills. This training couldn’t destroy Sylvestri’s moral compass and good first instinct entirely, but made her distrustful of the Republic and Jedi. For a time, she lived on the planet Tikkae, where she fell in love with Jordana Sparkburn- a member of the San Tekka family who ruled the frontier planet. But Chancy always kept moving. When the Yarrows were about to leave, she asked Jordana to come with her to travel the galaxy, but Jordana decline because of her duties as a San Tekka. They left on poor terms.

Two weeks later, the Switchback was attacked by Nihil raiders, who seemingly killed Chancy. At eighteen, Sylvestri was on her own with nothing but her mother’s ship, a co-pilot, and an ancient security droid. Because of the trade instability caused by the Nihil and Great Disaster, her finances were not doing well when she was suddenly pulled out of hyperspace by the Nihil. 

To inform the Republic about this new Nihil weapon, she traveled to Coruscant where she met the wealthy Xylan Graf who revealed that her mother was a hyperspace scientist and possibly had been kidnapped rather than killed by the Nihil. To investigate the possibility that the Nihil were building a mass shadow generator, she ended up teaming up with the Jedi Vernestra Rwoh, Imri Canatros, Reath Silas, and Cohmac Vitus; Xylan Graf; and Jordana Sparkburn. The novel follows them as they investigate a tangled web of Nihil conspiracy and Sylvestri grapples with new revelations about her past.

In the end, Sylvestri and Jordanna take their new ship to take up a job opportunity with Maz Kanata. Jordana is willing to join her because the San Tekka settlement on Tikae was destroyed by the Nihil earlier in the book.
