The symbiote I'm picturing using for a Dunmeshi crossover would be the 'Venom' symbiote in like, its original characterization and not... what it got flanderized into with the cartoon adaptions of that arc or the movies that... straight up gave the symbiote comic!Eddie's personality.
Like, goes quiet/doesn't communicate when stressed, desperately wants to have a good relationship with its host and eager to please. Initially trying to go under the radar and give its host what it thinks they want. Etc.
(Not that there isn't a place in my heart for face-monster turn stuff, but I don't vibe with what they did to my slime)
And I think it'd mesh well with Laios who also would deeply like some companionship and understanding. And while wairy of some parasitic space slime mold shaking up in his body would also be deeply fascinated by it and the possibility of actually communicating with a 'monster'. And to say nothing of the potential of a transformed state/visual representation of their relationship, ie their Venom/Carnage, and just...
symb: ...claws?
Laios: Yes!
symb: ...teeth?
Laios: Yes! But oh, what kind? There's so much variety?
symb: ... ... ... the orc tusks were nice
Laios: Oh, yeah, I can see it. Maybe make them a little bigger?
symb: Ok!
and also
Laios: Eating monsters wont turn you into a monster
everyone else: [guesters at all of him and the symbiote]
Laios: This isn't from eating monsters, a weird slime from space crawled inside my body, that's why I look like this

Kitchen Knives Aren't Meant for Stabbing
Summary: Why do the Famiglias keep sending their unwanted children on suicide hits? They can't really believe that a child will be the one to kill the World's Greatest Hitman?

Originally posted here but it's getting a new post because I moved blogs a few years ago and it broke some things :)
Someone’s following him and has been for some time now. He turns down an alley, and his shadow follows, seemingly untired from the merry chase he’s given them around the city. He stops halfway down the alley and gently tugs at the cuffs of his sleeves. “Can I help you?” he asks.
His shadow’s breath hitches, and o mio Dio, his shadow sounds so young. Why do the Famiglias keep sending their unwanted children on suicide hits? He turns around and catches his shadow’s small wrist mid-stab. He blinks at the very normal kitchen knife in the boy’s hand before taking it from him and stowing it in on of his inner jacket pockets.
The boy’s absolutely tiny; he’s practically sitting on the filthy ground to be face-height with the child. The boy’s frantic pulls on his trapped arm have no effect. There’s so much dirt in the boy’s brown hair and almost as much hatred in narrowed brown eyes. The boy’s teeth are bared, and there’s definitely a sunkenness to the dirt-covered cheeks.
He sighs. The boy wasn’t from a Famiglia, not anymore at least. Even the Carcassa and Bovino feed all their kids. Not to mention supply them with more than a basic kitchen knife when going after the World’s Greatest Hitman. “Come ti chiami?” he asks the boy.
Ao3
The boy’s glare narrows further, and he repeats the question. This time the boy mutters something and yanks backwards. The boy takes a deep breath and yells, “Let me go, you bastard!” in Japanese.
He keeps a steady gaze on the boy’s face, and a firm hand on the thin arm. “What is your name?” he asks again, this time in Japanese.
“Don’t act like you don’t know, Vongola,” the boy spits. “Now, let me go! And give me back my knife!” Tears gather in the boy’s eyes, but the boy gallantly blinks them away.
“I do not know who you are, and I am not Vongola,” he says calmly. “I am merely affiliated with them.”
“Close enough,” the boy snarls. The boy twists his arm in his grip. “I’ll kill you either way.”
“What’s more dangerous- you, or me? Someone trained and skilled and very very stable? Or a child still learning how to handle a knife with the emotional turbulence of the Wright brothers’ aircraft?” he asks, raising an eyebrow. “You’re certainly more dangerous to yourself than me, you know.”
“I don’t care!” Tears finally roll down the boy’s cheeks. “I’m going to kill you and every other Vongola I can find. Because it’s not fair! Kaa-san’s dead because of you!”
Well, shit. Civilian children on a self-imposed revenge mission really aren’t his usual fare of stray. Street kids generally try to pick his pocket or make a good faith effort to loot his dead body. “Kid, I am sorry your mother’s dead,” he says. “But are you sure Vongola’s responsible?” The boy snarls, and he continues over him, “Because as far as I know, Vongola has not issued a hit on a single mother or a hit in Japan for that matter.”
“They had to have!” The boy’s cheeks are soaked with tears. “The men all spoke that language you were speaking, and they kept saying, ‘Vongola’ over and over again.”
Merda, he resists the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. It sounded like someone high in Vongola’s hierarchy- probably Iemitsu, he’s the only one with any recent Japanese heritage and it’s always him anyway- was too careless about the location of their not-in-the-know family. “Kid,” he lifts the boy’s chin, “I can help you find the men who killed your mother, but you have to let me.”
The boy screws up his face. He wipes away his tears with his free hand. “Seriously?”
He nods. “But I need to know who you are and where you live for starters.”
The boy stares at him, head tilted to the side, for another minute before saying, “My name is Sawada Tsunayoshi. I’m from Nammimori, Japan, and I don’t live anywhere anymore.”
Fucking Iemitsu. He really does hate being right sometimes. He smiles. “Hello, Tsunayoshi. You may call me Reborn.”

More progress being made. I finished re-reading The Illusion of Living this past Friday. It's a nice book. 👍
This was the last of the Bendy books in this "marathon" that I'm doing which I had already read previously and now I'm rereading, meaning that I'm kind of up to date when it comes to rereading all the books that were released until December 2021. But the race is not over yet. Soon I'll start Fade To Black, and (technically) I'll finally be up to date.
Just to continue my chain of posting about the books I finished (at least, the main ones that I really wanted to read) here it is…something I did at the beginning of March, on the night when shit went down. (I hope you know what I'm talking about).
I saw the tweets first hand, I was there! Right at the damn moment. And it was..something reading those tweets alright. If the image above doesn't show it, my mood that night and the next 1-2 days wasn't so… great. You might read this and think I'm exaggerating, but that night especially I, uuhhh, I didn't feel good! And this image (and maybe 2 more posts I made that night) are the results of that. (And to think that a week before this happened, I had finished rereading DCTL after a long time. Talk about better/worse timing than this)
At least, if you want the bright side of this, it's that even after that day, I decided to continue with my book marathon, and I don't regret it. I was down that day, but I wasn't out yet damn it!! and I'm still not. (I don't know if this sentence makes a lot of sense, but you get my point)
As a bonus, here's something I did the night I got to the part where Henry is first mentioned in the book (you can consider this as a representation of my reaction when he's first mentioned, both for when I read TIOL for the first time in 2021, as now in this rereading)
Feat. canon Henry design and my fanon design for him (I wanted to include him here + I still read this book with my fan-designs in mind)

I should really write more drabbles regarding Jin and Devil's relationships and the experiences they've shared together. I do have the "shenanigans" tag, but that is usually just silly stuff for humor. I need to write the good, the bad, and the very bad. Since it's a recent decision that they've interacted during childhood, I should write a drabble about one of the moments they'd share in this "mutual dream." I should write about some of the nightmares Devil puts Jin through - some of them being Jin waking up from a "blackout" to discover he's killed one of his friends in anger - some being Devil getting frustrated Jin and forcing him to do something to "convince" him to be like him. Such as shoving viscera down his throat to convince him the taste of human is good. It terrifies Jin that Devil may actually know what it tastes like to even do this in a dream, and therefore has successfully eaten somebody during a time he took over. I should write one of the moments where things are calmer and they just... talk. Because even though they're often violent against each other, they are just... CONSTANTLY with each other, and they couldn't fight all the time. And well, the current times when they're trying to make things better. But even though Jin is trying his best, sometimes those ugly feelings resurface because he remembers everything Devil put him through. Not just everything Devil did to him, but the world, too.
Their relationship is truly a big part of this blog, a MAJOR part. And with all my concepts, I find them to be very fascinating. I find it to be something very unique. Because it's not like they just hate each other - their feelings are more complicated than that. Sometimes, their actions may seem contradictory to the outside world. How Devil was horrible to Jin, yet oddly possessive of him and didn't want anyone else to mess with him. Or how Jin feels he hates Devil, yet felt a void for the time that Devil was "gone" during recovery after the battle with Kaz. I just feel I should delve deeper into this by writing drabbles about moments they've shared together.
