I think it’s funny how people point to the existence of female kataang stans as proof that kataang isn’t written for the male gaze when every female kataang stan I’ve interacted with has said something to the effect of “but he’s so nice, he wouldn’t have done something like that” to dismiss his blatant violation of Katara’s boundaries on screen. It is unfortunately not uncommon for women to flock to the defense of male interests.

Mind you the "girl bosses" in question are Dany: who has been sold as a bridal slave at 13, been on the run and feared for her life since she was born, rarely known safety and security, been used as payment by her abusive brother and further abused by the husband she was given too, who has made it a point to protect other women around her from further harm despite having little agency, who faced multiple assassination attempts and the painful loss of her child, vowed to defend others who couldn't defend themselves, has faced constant misogyny on her journey to doing so, has put her own ambitions on hold in order to help others, and is currently the only character enacting wild scale revolution in order to protect a class of people nobody else is fighting for. And Arya: who has been on the run since the end of AGOT starving and scared, has been thrust into a warzone and directly affected by the violent impact, was witness to the horrific torture of the smallfolk by the mountain and his men, was captured and forced into servitude at Harrenhal, was beaten and threatened with sexual violence, who has witnessed countless people she cared about die including her father, mother, and brother, and who still remembers those who lost their lives when nobody else has and done her best to get justice for them.

Yeah, It's soooooo feminist to treat these two female characters like they're lesser because they aren't traditionally feminine. I find it funny how the ones who talk about the importance of valuing "feminine" strengths are the same ones who erase them from Dany and Arya. All of their intelligence, kindness, empathy, etc. get thrown out and their characters are reduced to ones who only know violence. Even the suffering and abuse they've gone through is treated as less impactful and they're given no sympathy. It's an interesting circle of them being misogynistic so that they can justify their misogyny to themselves. It also highlights how little they believe in the things they're saying. Supporting "feminine" characters has just become a convenient way of propping up their favorites; feminism is nothing but a disposable tool. If they actually cared then they wouldn't be rewriting characters to make them seem more "masculine", and in fact wouldn't care about that distinction at all. The female characters have a lot of overlapping experiences afterall.

No one is saying you have to like Arya or Dany, but being misogynistic toward them and trying to disguise it as feminism is disgusting. There's also no way of doing so that won't inevitably reflect poorly on the characters you claim to love. There's nothing productive about making such restrictive boxes for female characters. If you really don't care about them then you don't have to talk about them. It's as simple as that. But if putting them down is the only way you have of propping up your fave, then maybe it's time to find a character that you actually like.

Pokémon starters for the main 4?

Cartman: Tepig. Yall forgot his pet pig Fluffy :( Anyway, Cartman would also probably want a fire starter type because he thinks the others are “lame”, especially considering his choices being Snivy or Oshawott. The Unova starters are based on war and combat I think? And I feel like Cartman would want the most badass of them. Plus I can see that being the Pokémon equivalent of his pet pig Fluffy from the earlier seasons.

Stan: This one was honestly hard but I’m gonna have to go with Grookey. Originally I had thought Mudkip because I thought it would be funny if he had a Marshtomp, then I thought about Piplup but I think that Grookey does him the best. Grookey is based on music. I also think that Grookey has the best temperament and matches up with Stan and his usual position of trying to manage and handle everyone. (mainly his dad). Plus Grookey is based off of music, so that checks out.

Kyle: (Kinda boring making him and Stan from the same region I know) but Scrobunny. I really can’t see Kyle with any other type besides fire. I originally did have him with a Treecko because I can kinda see him with a Sceptile but thinking about it now I don’t think his personality would line up. Scrobunny is also loosely based on sports, and Kyle seems to be pretty sporty (I think he’s actually done the most sports out of his friend group?) and he’s based on a rugby player as well. (If Kyle were British I can see him being really good at rugby honestly but anyway) Scrobunny also lines up with him and his personality, getting fired up when they’re both excited or angry, or even the both of them being very competitive. Also Kyle with Cinderace anyone??

Kenny: He was honestly the toughest. But honestl? I can see him befriending a Pokémon while hanging out on the streets one night. I can see him being from the Kanto region? So I can kinda see him befriending a stray Pokémon. Let’s say…Ghastly. Maybe it starts out as an occasional spotting, but eventually he feels bad for the Ghastly and starts bringing it food every day. He finds that the Ghastly actually has a pretty good temperament and eventually brings it home. He trains the Ghastly to keep the Rattata and Koffing away from his house as well. He thinks that maybe it’s the fact that he’s always dying that attracted the two to each other but that’s how he ended up with his starter.

I'm not sure how to put this exactly, but. In some episodes, we really get to see Stan show some qualities, we get to see why Dorothy still had some good times with him, and that makes the whole 38-year-marriage-turned-bitter-divorce worse to me. Because it means he had it in him to be a good person and a good husband all that time and he just didn't choose to be.

#once again thinking about dorothy's marriage. it truly is my roman empire #this thought was sparked by watching s4e10: stan takes a wife #and he is genuinely not that bad in that episode! he's cheap and wears a girdle #but he's also supportive of dorothy. sweet. he helps her get much needed information on sophia.
