with every thing i learn about what the directors of totk said in interviews it all just gets worse huh?
the thing about the shiekah tech just vanishing and nobody caring enough to look into it was already rough and now i learn they said that -after botw zelda wondered if hyrule as a kingdom was still needed but then totk happens- just sounds like she wondered if hyrule as a kingdom still needed to exist in the way it had been (which would be an interesting change for once and also make sense for her character) and then they took her back into the distant past with the super good guy king of a godly race to teach her the lesson what her place is and that yes, their monarchy needed and good and really given to her by "gods" and what if big evil black man shows up again
i dont have the energy to get into it further but needed to say soemthing about it bc it keeps bothering me :(

i legit don't get the appeal of viewing a character you like as a "100% unproblematic fave". y'all realize that a character can both be staunchly good with many positive traits AND have some flaws as well, right? to me, viewing a moral yet multifaceted character as faultless is like baking a cake with no salt. yeah, it's sweet, but it's too sweet because there's no salt to elevate the flavor! where's the depth in a character that is entirely perfect? where's the compelling motivations and character work? where's the humanity in that?
thankfully, i don't see much of this complete denial of flaws in the popular fanon of characters i enjoy, but what i DO see frequently is a shift in focus from characters' overall negative behaviors - behaviors directed both at themself and towards others - to depicting their self-destructive behaviors as their sole flaws. self-destruction is viewed as an "acceptable" flaw, unlike causing harm to others, and is often exaggerated if not invented out of whole cloth!
for an example of this distortion: there's a heroic yet flawed character i like with a high stress position that he wholly dedicates himself to, who probably loses a bit of sleep and is seen asking for and drinking tea ONCE to buy some time. what's the fanon version of him seen in many fics? well, his missteps and occasional emotional insensitivity have gone entirely out the window, and he's been transformed into a workaholic, sleep-deprived, caffeine addict who is incapable of caring for himself. he WILL collapse at some point in order to justify his love interest swooping in and insisting that this character, a fully grown adult man in charge of 1/10th of the entire army, learns ✨the importance of self care✨
i'm not arguing for every character to be deeply flawed - i love a good hero - but by making a canonically flawed character either 1) entirely beyond reproach or 2) a self-neglectful and/or self-flagellating martyr who has never hurt anyone but themself, you're sucking the life RIGHT out of them, and boring me to tears in the process.

I respect people who are horny for P especially since I'm one of them but please have some self respect, that twink does not have any thighs or ass and it's embarrassing seeing people lose their minds over them when they're nonexistent

Gonna put myself out here for a hot minute to remind everyone that the runner of a poll or little event on tumblr is not responsible for the replies/posts of everyone else in the fandom, nor do they have the power to stop people from reacting in any which way in the notes of their post without turning off reblogs and shutting down the entire thing full stop. I think we can all agree on that? They are not a discord mod, or the fandom's babysitter. Tumblr is the Wild West and by god none of us are the sheriff.
That's all ok keep on keeping everyone
#I think everyone can understand the wariness that comes with suddenly holding a giant megaphone?#and also the inbox is not your political confessional. for like.. the last time#if you have a point to make reblog or make your own post#Mac mumbles#this is getting sidetracked but#some of this stuff really does just look like ask bait. stop it#don't throw it onto someone else to suddenly have to reply or take the heat for. go off anon at least#you may not be intentionally mean about it but it's not nice. if you have a stupid point to make use your own blog to make it don't leech#off someone else's blog and watch them navigate the replies of an opinion You Made#if you're not sure how to figure out what sets a trap for a Tumblr user: stating an argumentative opinion or ranting about others behaviour#usually causes shit for the one answering the ask#because now their hands are tied and no matter how they respond they are probably gonna get shit#obviously this is less of a personal rant because as we have established today: I am the swing a bat at the hornets nest mutual#but yeah. be nice. don't send political discourse on anon into peoples inboxes if they haven't already brought up the topic.#its kinda a dick move. why not make your own post? oh its because you want Their Platform to boost your opinion? get out#if you wanted to have a conversation about it then dm them or send it off anon so they can reply properly#**privately#if you're worried you might get heat for it then ding ding! that is also a dick move! you know its a heated topic#and yet you hath brought it forth onto another blog so that They may be the one to carry the conversation#ugh sorry for the long rant this is just Such a pet peeve of mine#again I don't care much as a receiver but watching others get stuck in it is like... mrs anon sir. that was not nice#bad fandom etiquette etc etc#this goes double if its a generally positive or neutral blog. be annoyed on your own time

my opinion on the barbie movie was that it had aspects of it that were genuinely cute, sweet and funny, and the cast did an excellent job but it was also very um. pop feminism. which is to be expected from a toy commercial but it still made me grimace a lot ngl lol

some of the ways y'all talk about buddie on here is. sure something.
i've seen so many people cry "queerbait" and similar sentiments and i'm just????? we must be watching different shows or something. 911 has a beautiful, canon queer relationship in the main cast, so we know they're willing to show them and write them in a realistic, beautiful way. and idk some of y'all are so up in arms about buddie not being canon yet but like....you do realize that part of storytelling is anticipation from the audience, right?? you do realize that storylines that are rushed to please the fans are never on the same level as storylines that take their time and bloom on their own, right???? you do understand what a slow-burn is, right???????
idk i just. i think as a whole the fandom needs to take a step back and trust that the writers know what they're doing with this. we're not here to fight and complain about this show, we're here to enjoy the ride. maybe we should let ourselves do that.

It is NOT ACCEPTABLE to blaze kink content and expose it to people who did not consent to see it. A cornerstone of kink is and always must be CONSENT.
I just saw a blazed post which depicted a young woman in a shirt and underwear sucking on a pacifier. This post was tagged with all manner of kink tags, so it was clear the poster knew the terms and the communities she was involved with. OP should have known better than to blaze that post.
No matter what you think of age play, that is not a subject that should be broadcasted to random users of a website. It was marked as mature, but users consenting to see mature content from the people they follow are NOT inherently consenting to see content of kinks that many people find triggering.
Please, if you're in any kind of kink community, have respect for the people around you, and do not force people to see content they never consented to see.

The way Harry Styles dresses/acts feels like watered down corporate imitations of actual queer musicians and gender expression. It’s like he bought discounted Party City versions of Prince, Little Richard, Elton John, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury costumes and somehow made them worse. Nothing about it really feels genuine, and it just seems like he’s making another part of the queer experience safe and sanitized for straight people who feel “uncomfortable” when actual queer people express themselves the same way.

okay so like. even before s2 started airing, i never really thought "little miss perfect" fit amity all that well. like, it fit her well enough to go on a playlist for her but not to be like, her theme song, if that makes any sense?
but i did think some of the memes were fun and enjoyable anyway
but i kinda wonder exactly how much it affected fanon. like i feel like there was at least A LITTLE BIT of people tweaking their interpretation of amity's character to better fit the song, even if that meant straying further from canon. i wonder how strongly it influences certain ideas in the fandom like "amity had a perfect facade with no cracks before luz" and "amity is deeply ashamed of her crush on luz". or even some specific theories like "the blight parents are homophobic/homophobia exists on the boiling isles" and "amity is adopted. because she has brown hair."
