I've never been drawn to his character. TFP Starscream is probably my favorite, if I had to choose. He seems pretty complex and the wingy movements are divine.

Starscream overall though... hmm. I guess he's ... fine in canon. His presence and actions tend to be predictable, if not tiring.

But fandom... fandom Starscream is someone I never, ever want to meet. A lot of people love him, and they love him for the exact reasons why I don't like real life people xD I'm not drawn to self-centered, bitchy, backstabbing characters. [NOTE: These are all words I've seen Starscream fans use to describe him while explaining why they like him.] He has a lot of fans, but his allure escapes me. There's more I could say about that, but it would truthfully be an introspection into why I like/don't like certain characters, and we would stray from Starscream as a focus.

So as not to leave the ask on a negative note, here are some Starscream-related things I do like:

-Fayren's art of Starscream for those particular IDW issues. Fucking beautiful art. I guess I more like the art than the character, but these were issues concerning him.

-Starscream/Skyfire appeals a little and tends to have really pretty fanart. Skyfire, why?? You deserve better, lol.

-the panel at the top of the ask makes me laugh

I finally began to watch Earthspark and got done the first two episodes. Yes, seen the spoilers but those don't bother me. It ain't an excuse to not properly tag said posts btw.

Anyway, first off Robby and Mo are definitely gonna have a Cain-Abel situation at some point. The former decided to RUN AWAY because his family moved to Witwicky. He went to mess with the Emberstone despite Mo's warning.

This is the kind of behavior that will hurt people whether it be physical or mental. You think Mo took Robby running away badily? Imagine their parent's reaction to his disappearance. Even worse possible death as if they stood still for a few more seconds than either the Mandroid's spider mechs or the truck would kill them. Their parents would be heartbroken.

Can't forget Robby's suggestion about hiding Thrash and Twitch from their parents either. Secrets like that are dangerous. Anyway, those two have a high chance of clashing at some point and the fallout will be disastrous.

Next is GHOST. Immediate red flag out of the gate especially the Decepticons' treatment. How would you feel about being stranded far from home, hunted down by your leader and then jailed? I go into hiding too!

There's probably some Autobots who feel the same and disappeared as well. Ratchet would honestly be in this category now that I think about it. Not only is he a medic but the war essentially ended when the Space Bridge fell.

This means he possibly tend to the injuries on BOTH sides. Our medic would have info about the Decepticons' reasons but also thoughts. Imagine how Ratchet must've felt upon the discovery that his patients will be arrested and not handled properly.

The situation is unstable so actions like this must be taken carefully as the aftermath of war doesn't disappear in an instant. Refugees, survivor's guilt, PTSD and such will remain. Being put into hiding means that the Decepticons will have less resources than those associated with GHOST.

Swindle and Hardtop attempt to steal Energon makes sense. They are being hunted like dogs so every possible resource counts. Even though this is just the first two episodes, negotiations or proper handling clearly wasn't on the table.

Don't get me started on Dorothy's ranger job being a lure from GHOST. That is another red flag as why didn't they ask her first? I will immediately state this right in Optimus and Megatron's faceplates.

How am I allowed to stay calm when a secret organization has been watching my family for who knows how long??? This makes me tempted to write a situation where someone looks over the Decepticons while have the GHOST associated bots begin to question their bosses.

I'm not gonna say anything about Robby as I hope he makes better decisions. Honestly understand how Mo feels since we're both the youngest in our family who handles things WAY better than oldest.

Otherwise, I been enjoying it so far.

Hello!! I love your combaticons art so much!! And I love hearing your headcanons! So I was wondering if you had any about Onslaught/Blast-Off such as how they got together and the other Combaticons reactions if you don't mind sharing your thoughts?

firstly, thank you for the compliments, Anon! (*⁰▿⁰*) secondly, absolutely do i have headcanons about how my top favorite robot ship could get together and what the rest of the team’s opinions might be about it!!!

some caveats before I share tho: i view the multiple versions of Onslaught and Blast Off across continuities (the continuities that i’ve personally familiar w/ that the Combaticons appear in, anyway) as different enough characters that how i picture them interacting in one series doesn’t always map to their interactions in another series, or to my personal fan continuity.

and since there tends to be no specific canon details to explain how the Combaticons originally met and became a team (were they built together? were they not? did the five of them meet before the war happened or while it was already underway? were they friends or strangers?), there’s breathing room for many possible backstories to run w/. my ideas vary accordingly. o9

G1: one of my headcanons is that they develop an interest in each other over a period of working together, but G1 Onslaught is probably the one who makes the first move. because G1 Blast Off is… he’s a condescending snob. the sort where he’s too proud to not make a potential sailor prove they’re willing to work for the gift of Blast Off’s attention, even if Blast Off secretly reciprocates the feelings being expressed. Onslaught makes a few passes hinting he might be up to a long-term romantic hook-up and Blast Off goes, “hmm… i’m intrigued but i’m hardly going to just give in instantly. impress me. convince me.” meanwhile, Onslaught is a career strategist who has no problem with plotting a plan to do just that. Onslaught’s has plenty of confidence, he’s used to dealing with Blast Off’s less-than-communicative attitude, and he likes coming out on top. the story of two jerks, falling in love!

an opposing alternative G1 idea to this is that their relationship started off as more of a steady pre-war alliance that evolved. they kept operating under a shared delusion that everything between them was 100% casual, no feelings, none, nobody here is going to admit to weakness or anything! right up until one of them nearly dies in a battle and the other is forced to confront the fact they both have. caught feelings.

i’m also partial to another separate true-to-G1-nonsense-logic scenario. in a series of wacky mishaps Blast Off and Onslaught are fake-married on some alien planet for fooling-bureaucracy purposes and don’t remember to have the marriage annulled once the mission is over… which turns into the excuse they use to start dating. hey, Blast Off is calm, reliable, and the teammate that causes Onslaught the least amount of headaches on a good day, why not?

of course, one can also go the opposite direction where G1 On/Off is an ongoing mutual power struggle between the biggest egomaniac on the team (Ons) and the second-biggest egomaniac on the team (Blast Off)! in this headcanon, Blast Off’s only obedient as long as Onslaught demonstrates he’s a good leader and Onslaught’s keen to exercise his authority in showing him that he is.

listen, why would i pick one idea for G1 where i could have dozens of AUs to play in?

the other G1 Combaticons would probably be like: Swindle = doesn’t care unless he can figure out how to make money from it or On/Off squabbling affects him Vortex = free entertainment! free material to needle at! Brawl = if they have a wedding, he wants to cause trouble at it for kicks

Aligned/FOC: I’m drawing from the old FOC games for this. one of the headcanon ideas I came up w/ was an AU where Aligned On/Off were already married before the war and they co-founded the Combaticons as a group of soldiers-for-hire. Blast Off was a disgraced noble and Onslaught was a veteran soldier. they don’t bring it up at work or overtly show it. so it takes a century for the other Combaticons to realize they’re not having a side fling, they’re legally hitched.

picturing Vortex being surprised Onslaught actually bothered to go through the legal channels for something that wasn’t a military matter and surprised Blast Off dropped his stuck-up act long enough to say yes. Onslaught is a little offended Vortex didn’t believe he could be assed to sign some dumb civilian paperwork for commitment. Blast Off is a little offended by Vortex’s comment about him acting superior. Swindle uses this as an opportunity to have a go at Vortex for not noticing, because hey, usually failing to notice the obvious is Brawl’s gig! (Swindle has no room to talk: he only realized it a few decades ahead of Vortex or Brawl.) Brawl and Vortex react to this as expected. a normal day in the workplace.

alternatively: an IDW1-influenced scenario where Aligned Blast Off is wordlessly protective towards and pining after Aligned Onslaught and hasn’t confessed yet and they have a wartime romance has crossed my mind before…

alternatively: poly FOC Combaticons is fun. i do ship the team as poly. in most series.

IDW1: this is the continuity where i am limiting myself to two short answers. to stop myself from talking for pages and pages about IDW1 Onslaught and Blast Off.

the first answer is the one in which canon happens, IDW1 On/Off get together under the storm of unhappy circumstances they do in TAAO, the other Combaticons are supportive and all for it… after years of unaddressed pining and tension, look! finally some steps forward! maybe this will work out w/o anything going horribly wrong! … before it goes horribly wrong and the truth of what went down between Blast Off and Screamer is revealed. the other Combaticons switch to being angry and upset. nobody here would be having a good time, at all.

the second answer is the headcanon one where canon doesn’t happen and the Combaticons avoid the TAAO plot, leaving Onslaught and Blast Off free to sort out their shit on their own terms. and, if somebody can break the news to Onslaught about his second-in-command having a lovesick crush on him, maybe dating can happen. eventually.

TFA: Swindle is the only Combaticon that appears in TFA and none of the others do (and he’s not actually a Combaticon in TFA) but in an AU where they did… i like to picture a story w/ Decepticons Vortex and Blast Off repeatedly running into Autobots Onslaught, Swindle and Brawl, and a cross-faction affair being one of the factors that results in Onslaught and the others defecting to join the Deceptions. (not the only factor, because that would be absurd. Onslaught is ambitious.)

Swindle turns into more of a rogue agent that’s only loosely affiliated w/ them so he can do his part in the TFA plot while idk, Onslaught, Vortex, Brawl, and Blast Off are committing military mercenary crimes in deep space somewhere else.

i always loved the trope Friend to lovers, when the characters shows they love the reader bc they are more or only soft with them, so if it's okay to ask, how about some Characters (Choose the ones you like to write most,, don't worry ^^) being only soft with a Gender neutral reader? maybe they don't date yet but are sure about how they feels about reader

Hades

With the lord of the dead, let's say you two met after his altercation with Herc. He may have gotten out of that river, but he's still stuck with his dead-end job as the underworld's overseer.

Overtime, he's reminded why he dreaded staying down there in the first place. Nothing not one thing has changed since he's been there. It didn't take long to realize that it never will.

Then he met you.

You might have crossed his path as just some civilian trying to beseech him for guidance. Or you ended up in his debt. Either way, you find yourself intrigued by the god and run into him very often.

More often than he'd like actually. Hades is annoyed at first, unsurprisingly. Yet he doesn't really do much to make you go away oddly enough. It's like he's too exhausted to just lash out and scare you off or even smite/curse you.

After a few more visits from you, he realizes that he.. doesn't have alot going for him right now. He was lucky enough to get out of that river and he's not planning another takeover anytime soon.

Oh what the hell, he's got an eternity might as well do something with it

And so your meetings together become the norm, with you asking questions about him and with Hades answering most of them at times.

He wouldn't admit it out loud, but as the years pass he starts to enjoy your company. Hell it's nice to have any company to be honest. It's not like he has alot of worshipers as it is and he doesn't have anyone close enough to consider a "friend" in the first place.

So to him, it's kinda nice to have someone to talk with for once (y'know someone that won't criticize or belittle him).

You're also a really good listener too. There are times when Hades will just vent to you and you let him. All of the shit he's been wanting to tell someone, anyone finally comes out. You can't imagine how long it's been since a person actually sat down and listened to him.

As you two hang out more frequently, he takes you to different parts of Greece to see the sights. He only does so after you kept reminding him about how he needs to take a break from the underworld (for a little while at least).

It doesn't take long for him to start catching feelings. He'll try to suppress it, really it comes out of nowhere so he doesn't know how to handle it. And he can't bring himself to just ignore you, so he keeps it to himself for awhile.

You start to notice a shift in his behavior recently. It's like he's.. more nervous when he's with you. Not to mention, that he rarely loses his temper when you're around. On a normal day, he'll gladly maim Pain and Panic. But if you're in the same room, he doesn't find himself as angry.

When it starts getting too much for him, he seeks out the fates for help. He asks them if there's even a slim chance of having a future with you. Even though he cares for you, you're still mortal and the fact that he loves you... really fucking scares him. It might not be possible to be with you, but he wants to make sure you'll be okay.

The fates answer in vague verses and only tell him to be patient. He's more lucky than he thinks. It's not like turning you immortal is completely impossible, after all.

They don't tell that to Hades directly though

Dr. Facilier

Now with the doctor, you both meet before the events of the film take place. Being in New Orleans long enough, Doc tends to meet all walks of life in the city.

He spends his days going to different parts of town, seeing who he can swindle to make quick cash. It's not always practical, but it puts food on the table at least. Though he can admit that it gets rather repetitive at times.

But one day he spots a new face.

You meet him as you're working in a quiet little bookstore just off of the quarter. Whether it was by fate or coincidence, he'll never know. During your first meeting, you found him quite fascinating.

He would offer to give you a reading and even tried to get you to visit the emporium. To his surprise, you politely turned him down every time. That made him slightly annoyed and he would find himself visiting the bookstore often just to persuade you.

When his plans to convince you would fall flat, he would eventually give up the act. Doc would make light conversation with you instead since he had nothing else going on that day.

Facilier found the company of a stranger rather pleasant actually

From then on he stops by the bookstore almost everyday, and you're there to greet him with a friendly smile when he does.

If he's perfectly honest, he thinks that being with you is a nice change of pace. Getting to do something besides work all day is pretty great. It's not like he often gets to have a nice chat with someone that wasn't afraid of him or didn't know who he was.

He didn't even realize how much he missed having a real friend until he met you.

You don't seem bothered by him at all. Doc likes to swap some light banter with you and you manage to retort back quickly. He finds that part of you appealing, you're someone he can genuinely joke around with. He feels much more like himself whenever he's talking to you.

Since you're new to town, he takes that as an opportunity to give you a tour of New Orleans. There's never a dull moment with Facilier as he shows you everything the city has to offer.

It hits him like a train when he catches feelings for you. He tries not to think about it, worried that he'll just drive you away if you found out. So he doesn't say anything, yet he can't stop that feeling plaguing him.

You notice that something seems off with the doctor. He's become more and more quiet around you recently. It's starting to worry you at this point. You're most likely the only person in town that he actually talks to on a regular basis. So you can't help but think something's wrong..

As the days go by, he turns to his shadow for advice. He at least needs a second opinion if he should tell you or not. You're probably the best thing that's happened to him in a long time, the last thing he'd want to do is scare you off. He's going about this without a solid plan which just makes him more anxious.

His shadow is just as lost as he is and just gives Doc a shrug in response. He is a reflection of Facilier's feelings after all. Maybe he should quit while he's ahead.

Or maybe his other "friends" could help..

hello clam!! can you guess whos birthday it is??? thats right!!!! spice is officially one year older today !!!! anyways today was so good. i ended up falling asleep as 6 am but i still woke up at 10 which was a relief, i ended up having a really nice breakfast and binging pirates of the caribbean w/ my mom and eating my fav ben&jerrys icecream, one of my brothers called, and then we went to the store and picked out some snacks and clothes :)) she also gifted me some haircare stuff which was great since i love stuff like that!! anyway haha how about [ 🚓 ], [ 🦁 ], and [ 🔒 ]? <33

Finlay: Courageous -- takes very little, it's both their job and their belief that they need to help whenever, wherever.

Galeon: Courageous, a little stupidly so, takes very little, would do it simply because he thinks it's right.

Hollond: Cowardly but selfishly so -- will not risk their life for people they don't like and it would take a lot of cajoling from Galeon or another person close to them.

Greta: Courageous, also stupidly so. Would do it on a whim with no rhyme or reason though makes an exception for MC and later the other companions.

[ 🔒 ] what are your muse’s most negative traits? how do these traits influence their lives? (ex. if a muse is aggressive, they may have trouble forming lasting friendships.)

Finlay: Hard question, their most negative trait is their loyalty. It's often blinding and they tend put work before family, friends, etc. So they have a hard time forming lasting relationships and keeping them sadly...

Lesilfae: He's greedy. Absurdly so. It makes it pretty hard to trust him because he's willing to do anything for money and covets information that will give him the upper hand over others.

Galeon: Selfless to a fault. He's willing to do anything and everything for nearly anyone, he feels it is his job and duty (but he also enjoys helping people). It tends to run him ragged to the point of worrying his close relations and has sort of forced him into an unhealthy lifestyle.

Hollond: Where to start?? jkjk... Probably their possessiveness. It's something they're working on, but they can't help but feel scornful of people who would draw their family and friend's attention from them for too long. REALLY doesn't like Lesilfae for this reason.

Greta: She has none, moving on-- fine, okay, hm... probably her flightiness. She's always on the move, constantly doing things and never really sitting still. That tends to make it hard for her to keep her attentions focused on one thing or one person. I think the only person she keeps returning to is her gramps (and family).

this man. this man swindles people out of their everything. but at the same time, he loses his everything every single day, sometimes multiple times. he's not really gaining or losing much- if anything, he's losing more than he's gaining.

scar himself, by his own character, is a creator. he paints pictures, scenes, landscapes, cities, myths. scar is. not allowed to help directly with grian's and mumbo's romance and he is in pain.

this line is saying, in summary, if scar quits, it's so he can fail on his own accord as opposed to being indebted to others. (it also feels like a line that grian would tell him, and he would have to point out that it's not a sinking ship- grian's just not looking at the docks) he kinda does this, to be honest. if he dislikes something, he won't stop until he's perfected it, but he's also loyal to a cause to a fault.

i. i refuse to believe scar knows nothing. he must suspect grian's got wings. i feel like while he knows a lot about what's happening, he dislikes that there's stuff he doesn't know. but unlike mumbo, he understands not to push so strongly on things in general.

i'm not sure why but this line feels like scar and grian's enchanting sessions. sure, scar's teaching grian, but they're mostly two friends hanging out- one friend helping significantly more than the other. but those meetings feel like a tiny little bubble, where no-one could ever overhear anything.

Transformers G1 character review!!(6/7)

Soundwave's cassettes!!:

That's right, these guys get their own entry. Why? Because they've EARNED it. The cassettes are Soundwave's children, who do a great job in espionage, and just kicking ass. Soundwave started off with Ravage, Rumble, and Lazerbeak, but as per dad fashion, he came to adopt Frenzy, Ratbat, and Buzzsaw, and each one are VALID in what they do. In a group rating, 10/10 for supportive children. 12/10 for Rumble, who's just an absolute little SHIT who's also just adorable. Id fucking die for Rumble AND Frenzy.

Insecticons!!:

A group of techno-organic bugs that were on earth even BEFORE the ark. I don't exactly know WHAT it is about them, but I LOVE them!! I find them so cute! I like their introduction, I love how hungry they get, and everytime they're on the scene It's automatically a wonderful episode. 9/10, and I'd love for them to come over, I'll make them as many goodies as they like! (Especially Kickback)

Octane!!:

Octane is a bot that shouldn't be on this list. He appeared in two episodes, and didn't do much for plot. But...well, I LIKE the guy. He's a fun character, is bisexual (from context. Maybe pan, but fucker ain't straight), and according to all other decepticons, a piece of shit, to which I can appreciate. He's also just? A really chill guy, who wants things to go the easiest way possible, and is a surprisingly good caretaker? He's justva character that I'd feel disappointed not to include here. 8/10, wish I had more (also he SO had a crush on Starscream and Sandstorm).

Stunticons!!:

The stunticons were created by vector Sigma, thanks to Megatron! These guys rule the road, but don't tend to rule episodes. I've seen them play important roles in episodes, but their personalities were never really highlighted enough for me to have a particular favorite, but I just remember them being stupid as all HELL, and I appreciate them for it. 7/10!

Combaticons!!:

Course I'd include Starscream's vengeful children! Created as a means to say fuck you to Megatron, Starscream created Onslaught, Brawl, Swindle, Vortex, and Blast off, to make the combaticons! They're all brilliant, but like their daddy, tend to fail because they're such greedy bastards. My particular favorite is Blast off, but as a group, I rate them a 7/10.
