why have i suddenly been gripped with the desire to get back into fishkeeping

#Seven.txt #fish stuff #fishkeeping #fish keeping #fishblr #i’m not complaining cause i’ve lowkey missed feeling so passionate about the hobby but. my brain couldn’t have picked a less convenient tim #me: trying to spend less money and manage my time better #my brain: hey hey hey you know what you should do? you should get back into a really expensive and time-consuming hobby!!! it’ll be fun!!!#and i mean. it’s not like i truly ever got out of it i just sort of dialed back the number of tanks and fish i have over the past few years #so i’ve currently got a bunch of empty tanks and equipment sitting around collecting dust #i do still have three fish that i thought would be my last for a While. i’ve had them for a number of years and they’re all old by now #so i’m just trying to help them live the rest of their days as comfortably as they can #well. I am actually so stupid I’m like why am I so obsessed with supernatural and I’ve watched ten episodes over three days and all I want to do is watch more and then I’m like oh yeah it’s a hyperfixation. For some reason I straight up forgot that’s something that happens to me cause my Star Trek special interest has been the biggest and only obsession like this for the past two years but then something like this comes around and I remember. Actually I suppose there’s MCR too but that’s always been more of a special interest than a hyperfixation as well.

#the difference to me is that hyperfixations completely overturn my life and they’re all I can or want to think about #whereas a special interest is always there in the background ready for me to come back to it and get really into it whenever I have time #I like them both; the dopamine rush of a hyperfixation is like heaven sometimes but I also love the calm steady hum of an especially long #running special interest #also just how into it I get by virtue of the longevity #but yeah not complaining I’ve got something to obsess over now #except that I always want to watch it rather than do work especially when my adhd meds have kicked in but that’s not a good system lol #anne speaks #also you are not allowed to make fun of me for watching supernatural it’s a great show and cringe culture is dead so leave me alone

Aaaa so I don’t even remember what brought it about but I just had Fond Memories of a past hyperfixation that was Cross-writing (aka crossed letters aka cross-hatching). Where to save postage and paper money, people would write out their letter normally then turn the paper 45 or 90 degrees & continue writing with the new lines angled against the first set (creating a cross hatched look, hence the name). I used to do it cause I thought it was cool and cause if I journaled in cross writing and in cursive, it would be virtually unreadable to most people, cause for some reason younger me had anxiety about ppl reading anything I wrote.

So anyways I remembered cross-writing & looked into it again for funsies. & I’ve always thought the cross writing with diagonals looks prettier than the right angle cross writing but I’m bad at keeping the lines straight and consistent if I try to write diagonally. & I was like “hm it’d be cool if there was a lined paper that had a set of horizontal lines & a set of diagonal lines, that’d solve it”

AND APPARENTLY CALLIGRAPHY PRACTICE PAPER IS EXACTLY THAT!!!!! I CAN BUY A CALLIGRAPHY PRACTICE NOTEBOOK & WRITE A PRETTY N AESTHETIC CROSS HATCHED JOURNAL!!! IM SO NORMAL ABOUT THIS!!

Hyperfixations are something you have to think about. You have to talk about. You have to express yourself creatively about.

I just can’t go an hour without thinking about it. The characters the history the things the science and whatever is apart of this thing you can’t stop thinking about and your head fills like a water balloon with knowledge and you constantly need more and if you see it online or in public you jolt and you feel embarrassed about it but actually not really when someone says it’s ok to talk about it but then again it’s kind of embarrassing to like this thing but yet I have the chance to talk about it.

I wore a shirt with the characters on it do you recognize them? Do you wanna talk about it? Do you like it? Oh ok who’s your favorite? Why? That’s awesome I like them too. My favorite is this character though.

What do you wanna watch tonight? I have a recommendation. You’re fine with that? Awesome. So did you know that when they made this show… did you know the inspiration for that character is… And the creator…

Ok I’ll see you tomorrow. Fuck. Why did I recommend that show? Why did I talk about it so much? They think I’m so annoying now. Don’t they. Ffffuck. Ok ok it’s fine, shake it off. I just randomly brought it up. That scene in that episode is so embarrassing. They’re gonna think I’m weird for liking this. God I hate myself for letting that happen.

I’m drawing these characters in my sketchbook. I’m writing about them in my only hand written journal. I’m making little assumptions and jotting them down. Don’t you dare look through my art of them or my journal. Please don’t. It’s so embarrassing that I even like this.

You know… if it’s so special to me, why do I feel the need to keep it a secret half the time? I think the answer lies in the quote of a boy I shared a history class with when I was still in high school. It went something along the lines of this:

“The annoying kid talks about his special interest. The quiet kid doesn’t.”

I love bug boy. I’ve had things in my drafts for him for so long.

If you listened to him when he spoke, instead of interrupting him or speaking over him without noticing, he’d feel appreciated.

However, he is still iffy on things, even then, for a while. Like if you say his name last, he’ll take it to heart even if the order of names wasn’t important.

He’ll take not being the first person on your mind personally.

But overtime, if you treat him like you see him, he’ll notice that.

And eventually, he falls for you. Probably before you really did for him, considering he’s a bit quiet.

If you’re quiet too, that’s okay. Things might just move slower.

But if you’re a bit or way more talkative, he’ll enjoy listening to you. He finds he doesn’t mind constant talking and rambling if it’s from you. He likes to listen to every detail and try to commit things he may need to know later to his memory.

Overtime, you’d find yourself falling for him. After all, once you get to know him you’ll realize he’s committed to protecting his friends and his bugs. And really he’s quite kind hearted.

Now it can be a little hard to be with him if you’re not willing to discuss bugs.

He won’t make you hold them if you don’t like them. In fact, if you’re afraid of them, he figures it may be best if you don’t handle them for their and your safety. Mostly theirs because they’re easy to hurt.

But you at least have to be willing to discuss and learn about bugs. After all, I hc him as autistic (I think he is 100% coded to be autistic. He’s a lot like me so I can totally see it) so that’s his special interest.

And Shino doesn’t easily see a point in engaging in a conversation not about his special interest.

He’ll find he’s willing to listen in about your interests (or special interests or hyperfixations) just because it’s you. And he wants to hear about you, and from you.

I think you’d have to be the one to ask him out.

So you do.

The relationship starts off slow. You’ll slowly get more from him, but he’s slow to open up, or to talk in general.

Most dates will be you talking, and him listening.

But you plan a date purposely centered around him, and at first he doesn’t notice, but soon you’re talking about his bugs and he starts to catch on.

You did a lot for him. And he feels special.

Really, the key to his heart is to see him. Make him feel special. Because he really is ❤️

You two garden together if you’re okay with getting your hands a little dirty.

He remembers your favorite flower from times like those when you tell him, and he’ll plant plenty for you. Even buy you some for the next date and special occasions.

He talks so highly of you.

Quiet dates usually.

He’d be perfectly okay with just existing in the same space quietly if you like that.

random cod hcs #3 - roach

everyone’s favorite little bug boy, the best guy (I have been watching playthroughs and shit and I am officially hyperfixated). here are some hcs for the guy who's probably now my favorite character. also making it clear now that he’s audhd, if you disagree you’re wrong /j. but that will be influencing some of these headcanons

he definitely likes collecting rocks, especially special ones like if they’re super smooth or have some different colors. any special rock goes into his collection. his prized possession is a rock that sparkles in the light

he doesn’t have one set love language, he has two; penguin pebbling and parallel play. you know he really likes someone when he gives them a rock, the prettier/more rare the rock the more he likes the person. parallel play is usually reserved for people he’s closer to

despite what people may first think, he’s really good at masking. he did it his whole life; it’s only now that he’s in the 141 that he feels okay to unmask, after more than a few conversations about how no one would judge him for being himself. now he’s nonverbal or semiverbal almost all the time, but that doesn’t save the task force from a little chaos. he’s comfortable enough to unmask all the time now, knowing one of the others can explain if anyone new questions him

he’s fluent in many different sign languages, and can read, write, and listen/understand many languages as well. he knows how to speak most of these languages too, but not as fluently and he never really needs to. it helps whenever a translator is needed, the team always goes to Roach first

he loves that his callsign is Roach, since in his teen years he had a hyperfixation/borderline special interest on bugs/insects. however his favorite were ants, with moths being a close second because of how pretty they are

yes he loves pokemon, he has a gameboy advanced and a copy of emerald that he plays whenever he struggles with falling asleep. he also has a card collection, but hasn’t added to it in a while

he sleeps like he’s dead. there is no movement when he falls asleep; people have to actually go over and check that he’s breathing, that he has a pulse, anything to make sure he’s just asleep and hasn’t died

he can and will fall asleep anywhere on base. it’s like playing hide and seek only the hiding one fell asleep

despite what some people think, he's extremely organized. but that's because he color codes everything. if he needs to highlight, he's color coding his highlighters - each color is for a certain thing. same with sticky notes. colors are universal - red is for enemies, targets, etc, while blue is for dates, stuff like that
