I love how BSD official is always fruity on so many levels. For instance the official art of soukoku above. The flowers present there are red Camellias. In Japan, it historically symbolized a noble death among Japanese warriors and samurai. This can connotate to Dazai’s desire to not live and die a peaceful death which is represented in the art . In some cases, it also represents death or sorrow of losing someone, and is related to Chuuya’s ability (For the Tainted Sorrow), where he has a higher chance of dying.

However, in the language of flowers, camellias, especially red ones symbolise love, deep passion and romance. Other camellias such as the white camellia means waiting, while the yellow camellia conveys longing. In the art we see Chuuya holding a single camellia, almost gently as if he’s caressing it ?? This can be seen as if Chuuya acknowledges Dazai’s love for him or he acknowledges his love for Dazai. I personally believe that in the latter Dazai doesn’t recognise this affection and is completely oblivious to it in a way. By oblivious I mean , in this art he is sleeping or resting.

I felt that Dazai sleeping was showing his vulnerable side. He has his fist over his heart which is a gesture emblematic of honesty. Chuuya leaning over him was almost as if he is protecting him let’s Dazai be vulnerable, honest self. Overall I could see this beautiful representation of them as a duo whether it platonic or romantic. I believe it is a complicated sort of romantic dynamic lol.

Why does no one ship Finn and Liv, it's such an underrated ship.

Sometimes wild attraction shit happens when you learn to separate masc/fem from man/woman. I’ve known queer women find the femininity in a man attractive. I’ve known gay men get so hot and bothered by the masculinity of a woman.

There was once a guy who was not really my type but then he did drag and was suddenly wildly attractive to me. And since I’m bisexual it doesn’t give me a crisis when someone is suddenly hot to me in an unconventional way. I used to think this was particularly a bi experience.

Then I’ve met plenty of gay men and lesbians who are also chill about that sort of thing. Little theory that has been rotting in my brain for a while: when Dazai created all those AUs in the book , he didn't change one variable - Chuuya. Now idk whether this was intentional for a greater reason or whether because Dazai would want his dog to stay with him.

So the book can be counted more as a singularity in the BSD universe rather than an ability. This is because Dazai is able to touch it and write in it without nullifying it.

So how does this link to chuuya? Chuuya is also arahabaki - the god of destruction sealed in a human vessel. If a god is possible in the BSD universe, then there could be multiple gods. Another thing to note is that the book creates worlds - it can essentially be the god of creation sealed in an object. So we have two opposing forces : creation and destruction which balance each other out.

Now keeping this mind let's go back to the original question, Why didn't Dazai change Chuuya in every universe? My theory is that Chuuya can break away from the book's rules. He literally has an opposing force of an ability that can either destroy and collapse the world by his actions.

If he can't be tied to the book, WHY does he stay with Dazai in beast?

I think the beast AU is the one AU where Dazai didn't change any outcomes except for one or two, making it canon to the original timeline as possible. The beast AU is basically a mirror of the original universe.
