It's time to create your own mission style dream house, with this collection of 345 brand new and hella cool build/buy mode items, inspired by Dontnod's "Life is Strange: Before the Storm" game.

DISCLAIMER: Simsi45 or The Sims 4 Amber House Pack is NOT affiliated or associated with Electronic Arts, Square Enix, Deck Nine or Dontnod in ANY way. This is a purely fanmade pack made by me, a fan of both games that wanted to get the best of both worlds.

FEATURES:

345 new items (including sofas, tables, decor, windows, doors and much much more!)

Search for "amberhouse", "lis", "simsi45" to find most of the items in the build/buy catalog.

Custom original names and descriptions. (the best I could come up with :P)

Tons of custom recolors (based on original textures) to mix and match items more easily.

Heavy modification on original meshes and textures, including english text turned into simlish.

Everything has been playtested thoroughly.

Included are a couple of easter egg items from The Sims 2 that I thought fit the theme well.

New lot I made showcased in the trailer and pics (found in the gallery under my tag @simsi45_mods) a recreation of Rachel Amber's house.

ABOUT THE LOT:

The lot will be eventually uploaded in the gallery once it passes its finishing stages. You will be able to find it in the gallery under my EA id: @simsi45_mods. I will update you all once it becomes available.

NOTES:

~ The pack is in an EARLY-ACCESS STATE! I have dedicated a lot of time to test everything but I'm a team of just a single person. If you find any issues please let me know so I can take a look.

~ Because of the amount of items the size of the pack is quite big. I tried my best to make everything as compact as possible with the final size being 1.5 GB of required free space.

~ The majority of the meshes and textures of these items are ripped straight from the LIS: Before the Storm game, and then each individual item (both mesh and textures) has been heavily modified and edited to fit and function properly within the Sims 4 game's engine. That's why some items will look identical to the original game, some look somewhat different, and some are brand new meshes I made using the original items.

~ Some of the original ripped meshes' poly counts were WAY too high so I had to lower the polygons so The Sims 4 wouldn't explode when filling a lot with them. I lowered the polygons and edited most of the items as much as possible without compromising their original look too much. In other words I tried to find the best balance between looks and performance and after lots of testing on my moderate PC system, I can confirm the game runs super smoothly on my end.

BACKSTORY ABOUT THE PACK (no spoilers):

This pack started with an idea I got back in 2017 when I first played Life Is Strange Before The Storm. When visiting the Amber house, I immediately fell in love with it as I am huge fan of the craftsman architectural style, it's literally all I'd want my dream house to be. The art team has done an incredible job on it, and as I personally find the art style of the Life is Strange series and The Sims 4 to fit very well with each other, I wanted to make these assets available for The Sims 4. Of course back then this all seemed impossible, however a few years later in 2020 during quarantine I revisited the idea as it had been stuck on my wishlist ever since.

To make a long story short, this project has been in the works for about 3 years now, and after a lot of hard work, head scratching and quite a few sleepless nights I managed to overcome all the obstacles I came across (which were a lot mind you) and I'm honestly hoping you'll be as pleased with the results as I am. Seriously this exceeded my expectations as it started as a small little pack for my personal use, to what I'd consider an expansion pack's (or even more) worth of build/buy content.

INSTALLATION:

Due to the size of the pack I had to split it up into multiple parts. You will need a .RAR extractor unpack it. More specifically:

1 -> Download ALL 6 parts of the pack and put them ALL in the same folder. 2 -> Right click the 1st part .RAR file named "Simsi45 - The Sims 4 Amber House Pack.part1" and click "Extract Here" 3 -> Once that's finished a package file will appear, this is the entire pack and you can now move that into The Sims 4/Mods. Simple as that!

For in-game pics of most of this stuff, just consult my sims 3 Critical Role tag. All of it is pretty self explanatory, but I wanted to explain one thing or two, and point out exactly what FLAWS are present:

ASHTON

The Crystal Hair [BETA] was one of the hardest pieces of CC I've ever messed around with.

FLAWS: The mesh sits HELLA awkward on the head, and the clipping/floating through the skull in some areas is bad on some head shapes. Also, a weird texture glitch on the skull might randomly pop up in CAS, not Live Mode, and IDKY. *sigh* This is what I get for trying something different.

The Cut Crystal as Head ACC & DA2 Persuasion Maul as ACC (and Misc Decor) all have recolorable variations with a clear & opaque texture. The Nails as Earrings are self explanatory. The Cracked Rock or Glass BODY & FACE Tatts as usual REQUIRE CmarNYC's tatt mod at MTS.

CHETNEY

I made the ATS3 Female Beanie Unisex and tweaked the textures a bit. The CR3 Chetney INSP RTA Tattoo is a regular EA tattoo.

FLAWS: For the life of me, I CANNOT fix the janky bone joints under the armpits on the Blacksmith Outfit. So...avert your eyes (or just use the regular Blacksmith Outfit with the sleeves). U_U

DORIAN

I was surprised by how well the Chest & Boot Wing ACCs came out, considering those were my own meshes (for once).

For the Dragon Valley Top I just retextured Danjaley's edit by tweaking the RGBY mask a bit. It's not great, but oh well. Neither is the Cape Accessory.

FEARNE

The Horns ACC is a mashup of X X X. The Stave ACC is a mashup of X X and I made the acorn glow with the ghost/plumbbot shader. IIRC the Horns and Ears ACCs have different sliders, one for the Hat Slider and one for Glasses sliders, but if I didn't do that...oops?

The Faun Outfit is a frankenmesh of the TSM corset dress @aprilrainsimblr converted and the TW3 Succubus outfit converted here. I added a few different RGB control variations as I was playing around with different options.

IMOGEN

I took the Shanty Top converted here and lowered the vest mesh as it sat too high on sims' waists, lightened the too-dark Multiplier, and made the sleeves sheer. The Suspenders and Skirt both REQUIRE the SN EP for the fat/fit morphs.

LAUDNA

I made @natalia-auditore's different accessory Bloody Hands as Body Tatts that REQUIRE CmarNYC's tatt mod at MTS, to reduce the amount of layered ACCs that cause texture blurring.

The Stylus Hair is an edit I did of Gramsims' Stylus hair (X), to add Laudna's signature white streak, fix the joints, and lower the polys a bit (it's still high though). (I used a hairline makeup for the baby hairs--IDER which one.) The Top is an edit from one of EA's, tweaking the waist mesh and changing the RBGY mask & overlays. I couldn't decide if I liked the Hammer or Pickaxe ACC, so I just threw in both.

Oryn

The Left Pauldron ACC is just the left side separated from the Dragon Valley top (Camkitty's mesh edit made my life easier), same with the Mitrasi Wrist Flower ACC.

Public Library of Ruina - Yesod

I still dither a little about Yesod. He's either Information Technology, Information Services, or both. Both feels a little self-indulgent, but it's kind of what I want.

Information Technology is basically regular IT-- have you tried turning it off and back on again. The library doesn't add a huge amount to that-- more databases, a website, shitty civic budget, unpredictable public users. You're gonna replace a lot of keyboards. (You should probably take the ones where people rearranged the keys into swear words out of service. Or at least fix them first.)

Information Services is, at this point, extroverted IT. Back in the day, this was the department that specialized in "reference" questions-- the weird stuff. People would ask librarians for all sorts of weird facts in the pre-google days. It does still happen, but less and less every year as search engines become ubiquitous and the people who remember that was a thing slowly die off. Still, reference will never completely die. People are always going to come to libraries with weird questions; that's kind of the point.

So why am I calling it extroverted IT? Because that's the primary function. There's the fairly obvious part-- people sometimes need help searching the catalogue or reading e-books. But here's the less obvious part. Myrtle has a new laptop, but she's not sure how to do anything with it and her kids all live hours away. Who's she going to call? Who can help people learn how to use technology? Without many other options, the answer frequently is-- the library.

Think everyone has a cell phone? Ask a public librarian. We know there are still plenty of people without a phone or with a secondhand POS with no sim card. Curious what happens if someone can't remember their gmail password? If you're prepared to deal with a post-traumatic response, ask a public librarian. Have you ever tried to help someone with no available cell phone recover their google account? It would probably save a lot of time if we could just tell them at the start they're SOL. But maybe they can remember the password, and technically there's a reset function that might work in a few days if you're approved.... Fun times when you're dealing with an upset person who can barely type on a good day and has just lost a ton of personally valuable and literally valuable information, probably forever. Think 2-factor authentication is great? It sure is, if you have a second factor. We have a list of free email sites that don't require you to already have an email address or a cell phone. It's hella short. And we took one off cause it was too Russian. Protonmail is a good bet if you can remember passwords. Which is a significant if. Some people just can't. Which is OK if you can save them on your computer. Oh, you don't have one and you have to use public devices all the time? Well, write it down and hope it doesn't get stolen and that you can remember which one is which. (Have you already guessed that sometimes people ask librarians to remember their passwords for them?)

In short, the library also serves as a public IT department, for services and devices it has zero control over.

Whether he's internal or public IT support, Yesod is also going to snap. Though, he will also have access to an abnormality that can affect people outside the library, which is a nontrivial perk. He will use it exclusively on vendors. I am hoping some of his bullets bend space and time to successfully hit whatever asshats decided it was OK to build the entire backbone of library ebook lending on Adobe Fucking Digital Editions, an old ass program with literally zero support. It would seem impossible for them to still be shackled to it in the City, but it also seems impossible that we're still shackled to it now, so I'm pretty sure the ultimate capitalist dystopia couldn't let it die.

the problem with persona 5 royal, or: maruki was right

oh hey! this blog has been very dead for a long time. but i’ve got a fire hot take imma drop, and where better to do it than tumblr dot internet. so without further ado:

the third semester arc in persona 5 royal sucks ass.

but the problem is not just that it’s horribly written. it’s not just that it’s centered around a middle school-tier philosophy dilemma that falls flat on its own face. it’s not just that it relies on character assassination and sidestepping obvious conflicts and plotholes so that it can even happen at all. no, the main problem is that it fundamentally undermines the entire fucking point of the original game, and actively detracts from the game for being there. they made a definitive edition of persona 5 and then shat all over it and made that the headlining new addition.

yeah. i’m hella pissed! so let’s get into it.

on paper, the premise of the third semester story seems fairly straightforward. maruki, with good intentions, wants to use his power of actualization to make the world a better place by effectively rewriting the state of reality itself to undo the world’s wrongs and bring everyone happiness. but the phantom thieves reject this. it’s not real, they say. it’s just running from the problem. it’s the easy way out. unfortunately, there’s a giant glaring fucking problem with this approach.

there are many, many ways you could write this story to make a coherent argument against maruki. after all, letting one man decide the fate of humanity does indeed go against persona 5′s core themes of the corrupting influence of power. you could show how maruki himself is flawed and may not always make the right decisions, or how it’s inevitably impossible to satisfy everyone when people will always have competing and incompatible desires. you could take an angle of how ultimately, making humanity dependent on maruki for solutions to their problems is in many ways no different than yaldabaoth and shido’s fascist ideals of keeping the masses oppressed and indolent so as to let those in power control everything.

but persona 5 royal fails to do any of that. the best we get, instead, is the thieves arguing repeatedly that “it’s not real!” and “that’s not what happened!”. except that, for all intents and purposes, it’s absolutely fucking real.

maruki’s reality is explicitly stated not to merely be a dream world. he can actually change the state of reality. futaba is not imagining her mother being back - she is literally there. there is absolutely nothing “not real” about her. she is, in every way that matters, alive. once maruki is done, his reality will entirely subsume the prior reality.

persona 5 royal literally shows us a world where shiho was never raped and never attempted suicide. it shows us how happy she and ann are together, unburdened by the trauma of what they went through. and then it shows joker lying in bed, wondering if this is really how things should be.

and then it expects us to say “no.”

later on, in ann’s third awakening scene, she does ponder whether she’s making the right decision. the game knows it is dealing with a major moral conundrum, even as it utterly lacks the thoughtfulness required to tackle it in any meaningful way. once again, her core argument about why maruki’s world is wrong remains: “it’s not real. it’s taking the easy way out!”

it is, quite frankly, difficult for me to express how insultingly stupid this scene is to me in words. imagine ann going to shiho, and explaining that a man existed with the power to completely undo her sexual assault and let her live a happy life. but don’t worry, ann assures her. ann stopped him.

i’m sure shiho would be very proud of her.

but beyond that, there’s another line in ann’s third awakening scene that gnaws at me, only shown with a specific dialogue option:

“is it right for someone to unilaterally change the state of reality, even if it’s for the better?” is certainly an interesting moral question to ask. one could even, for instance, write an entire 100 hour jrpg centered around this question.

ah, right. that’s exactly what atlus did. the game was called “persona 5″, and the answer it provided was a resounding “yes”.

forcibly changing reality for the better, even against others’ wishes, even if other’s questioned the justice of it, because they wholeheartedly believed it was the right thing to do, is literally the entire fucking premise of persona 5. from the beginning, the thieves ask themselves if forcibly changing the hearts of people like kamoshida or madarame is morally correct. and they all agree that, yes, ultimately, it’s for the best. it has to be done to stop their abuses because the system we have can’t be trusted to do it, and they stand by this no matter who disagrees.

and it fucking owned. vanilla persona 5 was a game about how the world’s power structures have collectively failed us. it was a game about how those in power abuse it, and happily eat us alive for their own benefit. it was a game that told us to stand up for ourselves, to fight back, to change the world for the better no matter what stands against us.

most damningly, vanilla persona 5′s ending included a crucial and important final speech from morgana:

The whole world is a product of cognition... not just the Metaverse. It can be freely re-made... the same goes for you, and everyone else. Remember... There’s no such thing as the “real” world. What each person sees and feels - Those are what shape reality. This is what gives the world infinite potential.

(unless you’re takuto maruki. then the ways that you change reality aren’t real lol fuck you)

it’s such an obvious contradiction in messaging that it makes my head spin. it makes me feel like the writers on p5r did not understand what made persona 5 good at all, or even what it was fundamentally fucking about. persona 5 is a game that tells you to use all means necessary to change the world for the better no matter who thinks it’s unjust, and then p5r turns the phantom thieves into the defenders of the status quo who side with a serial killer (who literally murdered two of the thieves’ parents!!!!) against the man who wants to save people from rape and murder.

and yet somehow, repeatedly, i see people praise how much better p5r’s writing is than the base game. how much more interesting and compelling the new story is. and i feel like i’m going insane, like everyone else experienced a completely different story from me. it’s utterly baffling to me.

and this is just, like, the tip of the fucking iceberg when it comes to garbage writing in p5r’s new content. i could go on for ages about how much sticking kasumi into the game’s opening sequence sucks, hurts the pacing, makes no narrative sense and serves no purpose other than to show off New Girl. how the entire story of maruki using his powers to make sumire think she’s kasumi immediately makes no fucking sense once the man literally acquires the power to raise the dead. how absurd it is that futaba and haru just go along with working with akechi with no real issues, the guy who literally murdered their parents.

anyway. the moral of the story is. fuck persona 5 royal skip the third semester everyone who says otherwise is wrong. thank u for reading

I just had two days off, which I spent basically debilitated by executive disfunction: brainfog edition. I somehow managed to spent two full days staring at my phone without reading anything and playing one of those match 3 bubble launching games. I tried to write several times and just ended up staring at my docs blankly and uselessly and just going back to the dumb game that honestly stopped being actually fun halfway into day 1.

This is annoying but fine. Brains are gonna brain and my sleep schedule is hella disrupted because of partner's job, so it makes sense that as soon as it was not required, my brain shut down.

I just wish that it hadn't rediscovered a desire to write the second I got back to work this morning.

In this op-ed, a leading disability rights activist talks about learning to lean on her community.

2022 was the year of the tiger, the Chinese zodiac sign I was born under. I thought it would be my year. But it wasn’t. Or at least not in the way I expected. Experiencing so many extreme ups and downs during the pandemic, I thought surely things couldn’t get worse. I was wrong.

Being disabled in a non-disabled world means a life steeped in precarity and vulnerability. I’ve written about my experiences during the pandemic as a high-risk person and relying on Medicaid in the past. Like millions of other disabled people, I am always one step from institutionalization, serious illness, or death.

Last June, I was hospitalized for four weeks in the intensive care unit, leaving me with a tracheostomy and feeding tube. I lost the ability to speak, eat, and swallow all at once. It was one the most harrowing and excruciating times of my life. I started 2022 looking forward to the fall launch of my debut memoir, Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life. I worked with my editor on the final edits to my manuscript and prepared for promotion with the publicity and marketing departments. I co-organized a series of online book events centering Asian disabled people by partnering with a university in my area, and created a holiday collaboration with a gay, nonbinary. disabled Asian entrepreneur who sells rainbow spoons and chopsticks. On top of all that, I started work on my next book, Disability Intimacy, an anthology of essays by disabled people set for release in 2024. I had a lot to do and was hella stoked about all of it.

While weak and under extreme pain, I had to push for changes in my treatment plan from my hospital bed, along with my sisters Emily and Grace, who took turns spending 24-hour shifts by my side watching me and keeping track of my health. My sisters saved my life more than once during those arduous weeks. Friends, fellow organizers and advocates, and acquaintances shared resources and information with me, answered questions, and took on tasks I could not do. I entrusted my book events and media requests to my friend Sandy Ho, who implemented my plans and coordinated events with my publisher.

Even with the book launch in good hands, I became overwhelmed upon my return home by the amount of supplies and equipment not covered by insurance — supplies that I will need indefinitely. I reluctantly created an Amazon wishlist and friends shared it on social media. The response from the community was swift and left me astounded. Another dear friend, Yomi Wrong, organized a crowdfunding campaign to assist my family with the significant costs of the additional care that I now require.

Loving oneself can be much harder than loving others. I had to remind myself that receiving help is not a weakness. I thought I had learned this through years of needing total assistance with my personal care. However, the gratitude I felt was twinged with ambivalence because I had never received help at such a scale before. I was also angry at the fact that any person in the United States has to crowdfund to live. Whenever I worried about the optics of “begging” for help, my friends were there to remind me that I am deserving of all these things. Now more than ever I am acutely aware of how vital community care is because the state will not save us—it was never designed to in the first place.

During that summer, through the sleepless nights, tears, pain, and exhaustion, I asked myself, “Why do I have to work so hard just to live? Are people supporting me because of who I am or what I do? What is the role of an activist within a community?” The terms “the disability community” and “the Asian American community” are limited and monolithic. For example, media coverage of the recent mass shootings of Asians in Atlanta, Monterey Park, and Half Moon Bay demonstrates how easy entire cultures are distorted and flattened. When I talk about community, I refer to my people, an interconnected web of family, friends, acquaintances, and comrades. People who know, care, love, and understand me. I love my community and am accountable to them first and foremost because it is impossible for an activist to meet the expectations of everyone and everything. The sense of urgency and uncertainty emanating from my body compels me to value my time and the relationships I have with others. This is why I am intentional about what I do, who I choose to organize with, and the ways I work with others. Activism comes in all forms. For me, it starts with staying alive, building community, and telling my story. Activism is practice grounded in love.

I never intended to be an activist. But my life has always been political. I cannot escape it. I have lived this every day ever since I was a child who had to grow up fast, a child of immigrants advocating for herself to teachers and doctors. When I became older and understood white supremacy, ableism, and structural oppression, I realized the fight was not just for myself but for everyone marginalized and devalued by institutions, systems, and practices. It is the epitome of privilege when people say they are non-political. One only has to see how COVID minimizers and misinformation gaslights people with long COVID and renders high-risk marginalized people disposable as we approach the fourth year of this never-ending plague. My recent near-death experience reaffirmed how fragile everything is. I dream of a day when I can just be and it would be enough. I wish for all disabled people the choice of becoming an activist rather than being forced to as a means of survival.

My dad used to jokingly call me 纸老虎, a paper tiger: something that seems powerful but isn’t. I guess he was referring to my disabled body, but I no longer find it offensive. After all, a paper tiger is delicate and light, it can fold and transform itself, resisting the forces that seek to crumple it. Fuel for fire, smooth and versatile. Seemingly powerless, it still has sharp edges.

I continue to slowly recover and adapt to my new body. For now, every breath from my ventilator is a ferocious feline roar of defiance and joy. I will continue, in big and small ways, to create change and cherish my people. One thing I learned in my life as an activist is the immense love, power, and solidarity that comes from working collectively and reimagining and building a world rooted in justice. A world without violence or prisons, nursing homes, and psychiatric institutions. Where every person is safe and cared for with their needs met. Where our worth is not measured by our production or labor. Where everyone belongs.

I am just one activist but I am not alone.

Hmmmm. Anywhere and everywhere! On the couch at work during my lunchbreak. On the couch at home before bed. In the morning in bed. At my desk at work between tasks. In the car whenever my partner is chauffeuring me around.

Honestly...the threesome/polyamory fics I liked???? What the heck. Especially the ones that almost sold me on Harry and Severus with other people. Don't even ask me about my weird complicated overly intense feelings about my OTP. If you know you know. ANYWAY, the point is, me even being able to read Harry or Snape (Or Harry and Snape) with others is just...requires a very particular mindset and a very particular sort of story for me to properly not feel like I'm cheating on my OTP. Or, y'know, to be able to stomach feeling like I'm cheating on my OTP. (Why did I even bother to tell you not to ask me when I'm just gonna spill the beans anyway? Ah well.) (Please don't judge me, I've been reading Snarry since I was 11 and I'm 30 now.) (I am dedicated.)

Blew me socks off, honestly. Which I talked about in my answer to # 6. Writ made me believe in the Draco/Harry/Severus relationship as a whole, but also the specific relationships between Draco and Harry, and Draco and Severus. Dylan is absolutely crying, he hasn't really experienced horror and the jumpscares would get him SO fucking bad. Ryan and Tom are not crying but they are so scared, literally shivering in their seats. having an awful time, do not the beans Jett is crying but will not admit it AT ALL. Crying is for Pansys, He's not a pansy!! He jumps out of his seat so many times, cept for Vampire movies, those he's chill with, considering he is one now.

Purity and Vic both are like "i'll be fine! it's just a movie!!" and then are actively making the experience worse via paranoia. They keep imagining where the jumpscares are so vividly that the FAKE jumpscare they MADE UP scares them. Clem's not a fan of horror movies at all, she's both screaming because she's scared and because she's yelling at the characters for being stupid. You would think That Daisy would be the scared one and Jessie the Brave but nooooooo. Scary movies spook him soooooo baaaaaadddd. He is hugging Daisy or whatever friend is watching this with him as a comfort blanket.

Cypress is not scared, he's admiring practical effects and the like film making stuff. He loves looking at the scenery and trying to guess if it's a built set or if it's on Location. Bonnie is very scared, movies where the killer is stalking the victims get her the worst, that's usually when she'd get vocal, she deals with that a lot and it gets her paranoia really bad. She would HATE the Strangers. Echo is not scared. She thinks most horror movies are cheesy, the jumpscares get her sometimes, but she doesn't usually leave with a sense of dread. Sam is Scared but refuses to let anyone think they are, that's why they're so silent, they usually get nightmares afterward though

Steven is so fucking lost. As a Father, he is required to walk up in the middle of a movie and stand there with his arms crossed. He is not sitting down, and he keeps asking you "who's that?" "are they good?" "oh okay" and then completely misunderstand what you just told him. He does this with EVERY movie. Not just horror Hunter is just kinda half paying attention so he pretty often asks questions, usually right before a jumpscare, It's like he can sense them, he can't, it's just bad luck Arche is also SO fucking lost. if he and Steven are watching a horror movie together do not expect to enjoy it. They are having a Socratic seminar right next to you trying to understand what the hell is happening. Arche's smoke words keep accidentally blocking your vision. Alvin somehow knows whats happening and doesn't at the same time. Usually, the editing fucks her up. She asks where a character is and that character is dead. 15 minutes into a horror guess who the killer is movie she guesses who the killer is and gets it right. nobody knows how she does it.

Jamie is pretty self-explanatory. They kill people, they like when the people in the movie are killed. they used to HATE horror though. It took a lot of exposure for them to get to the point they are at though Darrell often hates the characters. He just does, he doesn't give a shit about them at all, so when they die he cheers. Lev is the EXACT same as Jamie, Often gives her ideas, which is bad but hey, am I gonna stop them? no. No i am not Lilyis is kinda like Cypress, She is hella curious about how they are doing this. She likes seeing both people die and the behind the scenes info of how they did that. AKA she's a Dead Meat fan

- Plot:

Grand Sourreine, Holkervia, 1752CE.

The date is 1752 and Y/C has been chosen to be one of the king's Grand Soldiers amongst 19 other people. However, Y/C had planned that all along so it was no big surprise for them. They were in a rebellious group against the current king, that secretly snuck them into the national army, knowing their skills will be recognised, so that they'll be chosen. Now that Y/C was M/C's (King basically) personal guard, their plans were to overthrow him as soon as possible.. yet something in them changed when they saw the king's nature. M/C looked and was drained from work on the daily, so badly it showed on his physical appearance as well. Bad posture, puffy gloomy eyes with dark circles and a habit of falling asleep in social events. Holkervia (the supposed country's name) was shining brightly ever since he reigned, but under what conditions? Making M/C a half-dead looking man, having neglected his health. Y/C grows to love M/C fast, not merely out of their caring nature for him, but also his kindness and irregular personality; abnormal and callous in an alluring way. So, what will Y/C do in this dilemma? Ditch their subordinates and choose to be secretly in love with the king of a nation? Or overthrow the king, pushing their emotions aside?

Maybe I'm showing my age here, but whatever happened to the days of fandom Photoshop Edits? I'm talking these hella detailed, multi-layer, 10741234 textures and cool ass fonts kind of edits/graphics. You used to be able to search for "Photoshop Edit Tutorials" on tumblr and see SO. MUCH. creativity and now, it's just a fuck ton of tutorials on how to gif (which honestly, does it really require 134134134 tutorials on the same program??)

// I know we all love to dunk on rp graphics. I’m specifically talking about banners, that are impossible to read or even tell what the contents of it are. Or those super tiny icons, with PSDs plastered on it which also make it impossible to see anything. ESPECIALLY, if it involves stealing fanarts for them.

But I’m here to talk about how, y’know. Contrary to what most people are led to assume, making edits/graphics is time consuming and it requires actual knowledge & skills on how to use edit programs. Even when it comes to using readily available resources, you still need to have a degree of understanding on how to use it. Which isn’t there, unless you have some kind of prior knowledge or you studied it (I sure as hell only started using PS, when I was taking classes of it in college).

It’s not instantaneous, it’s not all done in a simple click of a button. Depending on what you’re going for, it can take 2-3 hours to get it done. People who say shit like ‘i haVE pHOtOSHoP iM JuSt LazY’, are more often than not come off as if they are trying really hard to flex or hide their insecurities. I hate to break it to some people but, just bc you have a hella expensive program installed in your devices. It doesn’t make you into a pro graphic designer, with a degree in the field & all.

Anyway it is time to shower gifmakers/editsmakers/designers/etc with some much needed love, because they have to deal with a very bitter and envious side of the RPC.

don't worry! i'm only gonna work saturdays, and it really is temporary. plus, most of my friends live a few hours away, so i really only get social interraction with my peers is at the store. so that's gotta count for something, right?

also! you probably have the experience you need for an HR position. make sure you mention that you've done hiring and firing as a bullet point on your resume, and if you were in education you dealt with kids and their parents, which indicates that you're patient and a good problem solver! it's all about semantics. deadass, when i was interviewing for this job, i used editing my little brother and his friends' essays as an example of past experience.

Uncannily laid back and unbothered by most things. It takes a lot to make her angry. Rusty started comparing her to a capybara and often affectionately refers to her as "Capy".

Was in drama, choir, and band. Could definitely have gotten a considerably safer job as that voice actor that surprises you by being the voice of multiple completely different sounding characters.

Terrifyingly perceptive. Her peripheral vision is good enough that she can be sitting right next to a mark and not have to turn to look at them to give updates on their movements.

Practically a shape-shifter. Specializes in infiltration and espionage because she has the energy of an NPC and can integrate herself into most settings so well it just seems natural for her to be there. Need her to be sweet and bubbly? Done. Need an aggressive, short king with a Russian accent? She's got you. Surprisingly androgynous for someone with almost hyper-feminine features.

Fluent in English (native language), German, Russian, and Spanish. Teaching herself Japanese because she is an easily bored millennial weeb.

Sub leaning switch who can dish it out until her targets are puddles, but gets sheepish and flustered the minute she's given a genuine compliment (Stripper likes to make her a squirming mess by whispering praises into her ear while he has a tight hold around her waist. When she can't form proper words anymore is when the kisses start).

A ruthless, efficient killer on missions. Total prey animal off duty.

Sweet as. Will give you the shirt off her back if you need it. Always down to provide cuddles for comfort, a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to vent to.

Mom friend. Somehow ends up being the unofficial den mother of every team she works with (except her own, because Big Papa has the parenting handled for the three little goblins ❤️). She has zero issues with this.

The type of person who thinks being low maintenance is a good thing. Very rarely asks for help or support. Big Papa is the only person she (currently) trusts enough to let him take care of her. If you try to take care of her, she will make up some lame excuse to get away, or try to redirect your attention to something else.

Has all of the hobbies of a grandmother. Can knit, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, sew, cook, and bake. Also does woodworking, works on cars, and makes weapons (yes, doing the forging and smithing herself). As previously stated, she gets bored easily.

Already has arthritis in her hands because she uses them pretty much nonstop.

Day 5: Detox and Consuming

Hello, I am actually starting to write this at 7 PM instead of saving drafts here and there on day 5. That is because I finally went outside to spend time with friends! This time, I spent time with the underclassmen (2 fresh, 2 soph) who are by far one of my favorite bunches of people to hangout with, and staying younger with them will always be a delighted treat to me.

Update: I actually am doing this post the morning of when I am supposed to be posting it yesterday, so let me just slide my way in real quick.

Anyways continuing, I think being with them selfishly reminds me that I am actually maturing in a way that I wanted to see myself in. I always thought, am I still childish? Or are the people around me just in the same wavelength as me? Turns out, I am really just growing silently. I can really say that I am over this break because after trying to detox myself out of social media, and trying to consume content that is going to be beneficial towards a long attention span, I have found some beneficial Youtube videos that have strayed me towards that improvement. In those videos, I have realized how much I actually do agree with all of them, but they have expanded my views far better than I would actually think. Like how people view distractions and a way that they wanted to give you with useless things and news to be a source of entertainment. Or the fact that it will take a while for people to shift their focus from flashy editing into something that requires a skill full of focus. Above it all, even as I agreed with these in the past, I have not done anything to fix it, and that is my problem. I wanted to be the mindful one while I fit into a society that is mindlessly consuming dopamine, but how can I be mindful if I am a victim of it in the current moment? A video I just watched right now adds on to the idea that focus is a skill, and it is not something that you can shift your attention to fulfilling yourselves at this moment of time. It involves consistency, and now realizing this, I think I might just delete the social medias all together for the sake of myself.

I have seen a shift of what having no social media actually does to you, and yesterday was a prime example of that. I was way off my phone and really wanted to absorb everything around me so I would not forget a single thing. And with 3 friends that were staying over were consuming a lot of the things most of the time, I realized that it really makes you hooked onto your phones in the most weirdest way. I don't know why I am just seeing the appeal of going on a phone on a hangout so weirdly now, like I know that you should not, but, the entertainment is above you rather than what is below you. I have really also paid attention better to what my friends are saying as I am mindfully aware that I do have a better interest in what they are saying instead of my mind wandering. It needs some work, but my future is to really see myself having better attention span and not going back on Tiktok, Instagram, or X in a while. Obviously this would be incredibly hard, since most of my personality is really what is online and I have surrounded myself with fandoms and newer things. Maybe I will change this when the break ends, but for right now, I will keep everything to a moderation.

I want to keep this a little bit sort since my feelings now are towards today, but yesterday was hella fun.
