That scene in 4x10 where Edward and aethelflaed are able to see the prisoners and the scene is literally aelswith hunched over in the church.

Ok 1) very much parallel to that one shot of alfred in 3x07 where he’s in the church right before aelswith enters

2) the way aelswith is clearly not feel great but the second she turns and sees her children she immediately puts on a brace face for them, and she’s smiling at them through the pain, and the second the door closes she immediately seems to deflate a bit.

I am losing my mind over it. I am losing my mind over aelswith and her children and her parallels to Alfred and the fact that she was essentially locked up in her husbands grave and while she was probably comforted by the fact that she would die beside him she was probably also terrified and thinking of her children and her grandchildren and yet through all of it she wore a brace face, never relenting for a second until she saw her children and then she seemed to crumple.
