Broke: why are the pyramids still in Egypt? Because they don't fit in the British Museum
Woke: why are the pyramids still in Egypt? Because the Metropolitan Museum of Art couldn't fucking traffick them like they did 1000s of other artefacts

i actually really love how samantha shannon is handling trans/nonbinary characters in her roots of chaos world. they blend seamlessly into her world building, so much so that i don't always notice there's something different. non binary noble? they sure as fuck don't want to be called lord or lady! they are styled 'lade'.
someone uses they/them pronouns? cool! we're not going to waste time going through an explaining that. it's just instant, all our characters refer to the person's preferred pronouns without any second thought.
she really keeps saying, yeah? this story has dragons and witches and wyverns. and it's gonna be queernorm too. don't like it? well fuck off.

the sheer scale of khazad-dûm's existance is so unimaginable…! it existed longer than any elven realm in middle-earth (from what i know), it is older than the hobbits as a whole, it saw númenor rise and then sink back into the ocean. khazad-dûm was built by the literal first dwarf that awoke, it is older than the sun and moon. it encompasses nearly all of their existance. and it was brutally taken from them!! of course they want it back!!

[image description: an illistration of all the one for all holders from the anime my hero academia. they’re all holding hands in a chain, in order of succession, with all might and deku in the bottom foreground, all the way to the first user at the top in the background, and behind him is all for one’s hand reaching for his head from the top of the image.
they’re in the ofa mindscape, surrounded by green tinted smoke framing them in a triangle shape, and behind them is beams of rainbow light reaching outwards. where each of their hands are holding, there’s a light emitting int he colour theme of the previous holder, and where all might is, the light is brighter and shining and he’s holding it out for izuku who is reaching towards that light. end id]
i am absolutely going to have to edit colours later so i can make this into a print.
also fun fact i coloured this al before 6, 4, 3, and 2nd’s colours were revealed. like a day before. and then my art program crashed and i lost all the colouring. life was telling me i needed to slow down a bit there.
anyway im super proud of this!! dont have time to do much big drawings so this was. a pain but i’m very happy!
also close up’s and alternate colours under the cut
[id: close ups of all of them, and unshaded close ups of the 6th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd users with different colours. 3rd and 2nd have the same clothes, but 2nd has a slightly more reddish and lighter hair, while 3rd has a light purple. 4th has pale pink hair and light purple eyes, and indigo and black clothes. 6th has a slightly blue tinted jacket with grey arm bandages, and blue eyes. end id]

Something, something, rival burger joint-
The dumbest thing about their rivalry is, if the customer wants a seafood based burger, they’re gonna go to Sammy’s, and they’re gonna go to Spudsy’s if they want a normal ass burger.
Sammy’s also sells beef burgers/fries/shakes etc, their fishy stuff is just more popular

the way that from under the cork tree and so much (for) stardust carry so many of the same sentiments and motivations, but one is this younger, anger-driven explosion of emotion that is in turn fueled by and paralyzed by its own range and the other is the more mature processing of those emotions and helplessness.
in so much (for) stardust, instead of letting anger and helplessness push you to a sort of frozen state where you’re just angry at your own helplessness, there is optimism but also motivation and release that comes in recognizing life is short and possibly meaningless but you still have to live. the anger is still there. the helplessness is still there. it’s just handled and experienced differently now that you are different and have different responsibilities.
