... in the reincarnated au, ingo has his own rival on his journey, either a descendant of or reincarnation of melli. theyre childhood friends and literally no one who meets them understands how it happened.
wheezes.
they kind of hate each other, but the town they grew up in was so small, they were really the only two kids their age living there. it was either play with the weird kid or just be lonely, so they were both like uuuuggh fine. They both think of each other as 'the weird kid' incidentally. When Nobori decided he was going to challenge the Sinnoh League, he was just like well. I can't let him beat me. I'll do that too and show him up.
(and then he proceeded to lose to Nobori every time he challenged him. dammit.)

Chapter 6
Tumblr media
AAAAA
Couldn’t have picked a better title myself.
A’ight, I did the best I could to limit the screenshots, but this is a long chapter so I need to expand onto another post. Click here for Part 2!
Tumblr media
Trial by fire, G O!
Tumblr media
In an effort to save space, I ultimately cut Andrea saying, “Wait, haven’t we seen them before?” But I just wanna say, it’s always baffled me that the partner couldn’t recognize them right away. I imagine the robbing of such a precious item would be a memorable event. Especially because it’s the night you met your best friend for life? Anyway, I digress.
Tumblr media
The Return of Team Water Meanies! 💀 💧 But we beat them once before, we can totally do it again.
Tumblr media
...Uh... I think...
If it’s a legendary, we’re screwed.
Tumblr media
WAIT-
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 🤣
I was hoping for a water type to fit the “Water Meanies” motif but you know what? I’ll take it. This is way too funny. Mob boss Kricketot.
Tumblr media
Anyway...
Tumblr media
I don’t wanna know how he makes the stink cloud though.
Tumblr media
Atta girl ❤️️
Tumblr media
Finally!
There’s a lot of new Pokemon to introduce here and, yes, I’m calling out each one. It’s just how I do things. Friendly reminder that if you’re having trouble keeping track of who’s who, I have a master guide listing every character replacement, including NPCs! I update it after every chapter is posted 😊
But first-
Tumblr media
I love these three already. Although Rotom losing his arms kinda freaks me out... it’s just... a floating tack
Tumblr media
Rampardos -> Octillery
Tumblr media
Grotle -> Pachirisu
Thank you Yellow Gummi reference
Tumblr media
Starmie -> Mr. Mime
Tumblr media
Bastiodon -> Zigzagoon
...Get away from me, old man
Tumblr media
Natu -> Heracross
Tumblr media
So I should have taken a picture at the beginning of the interaction for consistency’s sake, but. This is Wynaut, as would be expected since I had to toggle off NPC UI portrait downloads. Then I went to redeem our two prize tickets...
Tumblr media
Yeah. What’s up with that?
On the second ticket pull (I believe it was a Silver Ticket), I actually managed to win the grand prize. Which I was NOT expecting to happen so soon, but hey, I’m not complaining. I mean, look at this entourage-
Tumblr media
I can’t even come up with a quip for this one. It’s just... priceless.
(By the way, the grand prize was a Sitrus Berry.)
Tumblr media
We know Team Glee already, but this moment made me realize I messed up in a previous post. In Chapter 3, I said that Nuzleaf was (probably) Ledyba and Carvanha (probably) Politoed. With this dialogue hint, it’s obvious that they are swapped. My apologies!
Remember when Finkecleon let me have a Wonder Gummi for free in the same chapter? I saw another opportunity with the Golden Seed below...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But no dice this time. I guess this glitch only works for specific items? Who knows.
(Nothing remarkable happened after this so we fast forward a day or two...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This speaks for itself XD
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any good shots of the Guildmaster’s near meltdown. (Trust me, the shaking effect made the ones I got an eyesore.) Don’t worry, though, we’ll see it later!
Tumblr media
I’m including this for no other reason than this being perhaps my favorite line in the entire game.
...Okay, maybe that’s hyperbole, but it’s certainly one I vividly remember.
(Nothing remarkable happens again today.)
Tumblr media
🤦‍♀️ Here we go.
Tumblr media
Some “mysterious” reason, huh? *raises hand, speaks in a dull tone* Pick me, pick me! I know why...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apple Woods is known here as Laughable Sanctum. Probably because Team Water Meanies is gonna laugh their butts off at their upcoming prank 😒
Tumblr media
Before departure, we found Gulpin finally at his station! It’s... uncanny that the randomizer picked the previous game’s merchant for the link shop. What are the odds?
Tumblr media
Interestingly, the first floor of Laughable Sanctum is always one giant room.
Okay so it did take me a few tries to get through here. I gained a Skorupi recruit... then fainted on the next floor. On the next attempt, I recruited what was honestly an OP Cherrim: she had Psychic, Skull Bash, Dragon Pulse, and Softboiled. But then I lost her too 😔
My successful run was arguably the wackiest one. For starters, I stumbled upon a Secret Room!
Tumblr media
We can’t open any of these yet, so whatever is inside is a mystery... for now.
Now, picture this, if you will (since I failed to capture the moment visually): We’re traveling through 11F, finally drawing near the dungeon’s end. We enter a room and... Monster House. I swear softly under my breath - I already used my single Foe Hold Orb on another Monster House earlier on. My thumb hovers over the power button as I wonder whether it’s worth giving up when I’m so close.
Well, at least look at your bag again before giving up, I thought. So I reluctantly open the menu to see what I can work with.
An All Mach Orb... A Slumber Orb... Hmmm... I take in the room again to pinpoint any possible escape routes. There’s none, really, except the hallway we just came down.
And then I have a crazy idea. It’s a long shot at best, but what the heck. I didn’t have much to lose.
I slam down the Slumber Orb, then the All Mach. Then I change Andrea’s Tactic to “Get the hell away from here.” I attack an empty tiles for a turn so we don’t swap spots. Then I book it after her. Not a moment too soon, since enemies are already waking up.
I have no real plan after this, except to follow Andrea and pray she takes us to the stairs somehow. We go through a room or two, and I’m starting to get nervous. What if the others find a way around and cut us off?
But no. Andrea did her job to a tee: she literally ran onto the stairs tile in the next room. Again, not a moment too soon as enemies emerged from the other hallway.
Cue me laughing in relief at this absurdity, and then again when I see we spawned right next to the stairs on our last floor. I still can’t believe that actually worked!
Ah, but with every victory comes a price...
Tumblr media
I can tell you how, Andrea, but unfortunately it involves getting physically walloped and spiritually downtrodden.
Tumblr media
Hmph. You’ll never be the real Team Skull. Long live ya boi Guzma!
Tumblr media
In theory: great idea! In practice:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over ten years later and this still makes me so mad smh.
So we go without dinner. And then...
Tumblr media
*plops face first into pillow* I can’t... I can’t do this. He looks so cute here. I can’t upset this little guy.
Tumblr media
Totodile’s Law: You can look blue, but don’t feel blue.
Now, the progression of faces that follows here is real nice- and I honestly don’t think this scene could have been done as well with any other ‘Mon (besides the other starters.) He goes from the sad face (not shown) to teary-eyed, then straight up bawling as it gets more and more intense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Last one is a bit of an eye strain, sorry.)
I want to draw your attention to his sprite in the first shot, though. At first, I thought this was his typical pose - the one done by the hero and partner on various occasions, etc. But actually, it’s a frame of one of his attack animations! (Shout-out to @tzhaar-rayne for helping me figure this out!)
Tumblr media
Which really makes me think: we got blessed to have a starter as Wigglytuff. Anyone else, and the sprite would probably just be walking in place. (Or maybe it just rips another attack animation, idk. But still, the point stands.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*clenches teeth* They’re friends all right - friends of my fists. (Or wings, I guess.)

Now Pokémon Trainer Komaru started her Pokémon adventure after her brother her Pokémon are:
Eevee (Her starter Pokémon also a sibling to Makoto’s Eevee they were twins in a Pokémon egg)
Slowpoke (her first Pokémon she caught was just dozing off when she caught it)
Gyrados (caught as a Magikarp immediately after Slowpoke very easy catch she had no idea it would evolve into Gyrados)
Quagsire (Really liked how Wooper looks)
Skorupi (Traded her Haunter to Toko as a gift and so Toko gave her Skorupi)
Mimikyu (relates a lot to Mimikyu’s insecurities)
Has a habit of finding wild Ghost Pokémon as she explores much to Toko’s dismay.
I love her with a Mimikyu
Komaru was so excited to finally start on her journey, especially with friends like Eevee and Toko! Though, she’d admit, she didn’t exactly know the most about pokemon… So it was good Toko had a tiny bit of experience!
Slowpoke and Gyarados, then a Magikarp, were her first two pokemon, and though they were very different in personality, she liked to think she got along great with both of them!
She used to raise a Haunter from Gastly, too, but she and Toko traded pokemon, which meant she had a Skorupi since Toko had a fondness for poison-types and bug-types. It was kind of standoffish, but in a cute way, like Toko!
Wooper was another early addition to her team, and it evolved into Quagsire pretty early on. It was probably one of the most battle-oriented pokemon on her team, so the two of them trained a lot.
Mimikyu was one of the many ghost-types she’d encountered, much to Toko’s horror, but she felt like she could understand Mimikyu well. The two of them were very close as teammates.

I have been figuring out how pokemon essentials works by recreating Kanto (I'm in the process for that, but the things left are the events and I can't do a lot of them if I want to do something different to the original story, as is the case), and I got the idea to choose pokemon at random and change the original story to fit the new pokedex, but if it was completely random I could end up with no starters or legendaries, so I decided to use the original kanto dex to create categories and put every pokemon after that in the one that fits it better. There are no problems classifying starters, mythicals, legendaries and pseudos, but the rest are more difficult. I decided some because it made sense, some because they had similar vibes and some because of a mix of both. The problem is that it's easy to forget a category and put one in other that fit's it less, so I'll show you my draft so you can judge me.
(I will add more pokemon than the ones that this says if it makes sense, like more ghosts so pokemon tower doesn't feel too monotone. The ones with a / between them go together, I will probably not add regional variants, and joltik is with the pikachus because I say so. Also, there aren't a lot a single stage evolutions in gen 1, so all of the ones that don't fit are in the closest thing because it's hard to match the number of evolutions and the types.)

Pokemon Gold/Silver Beta Pokemon: The April 2020 Leak
Look, 2020 was a rough year. So maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised that the April 2020 Gold/Silver source code leak flew almost entirely under my radar. If you Google about it, you’re find it’s very rare for news outlets to cover it. This is probably because many folks are hesitant to cover leaks. Also, the US was warming up to a truly awful pandemic around that point, not to mention other civil unrest, so it’s no surprise some people were a tad distracted.
But the fact is, another leak turned up in April of last year, following a recent trend of huge Nintendo leaks. And this one was a doozy. I’ve only truly realized its full extent in the past few days. As such, I’d like to do a post that covers some of the new information. In particular, I’m focusing on beta pokemon that were cut or heavily reworked.
Now, back in 2018, the Spaceworld ‘97 Pokemon Gold/Silver Demo was leaked online. I made a post about some of my favorites. So, from this leak, we already knew of a while slew of beta pokemon. However, as it turns out, there were still more new faces to find-- and a lot of them! I list 45 new beta pokemon here, in fact!
In the April 2020 leak, several sprite sets were found as internal files, each at different phases of game production. The sprite sets were dated May 6, 1998, June 13, 1999, June 21, 1999, and September 17, 1999. The August 17, 1999 Spaceworld ‘99 Demo build was also found, so we have information on that as well.
Essentially, if you want to see this information at The Cutting Room Floor, then head to this page for the sprites discovered as internal backups/sprite banks. Head to this page for the Spaceworld ‘99 demo information page. And, if you need a refresher for the older leak, you can go to this page for the Spaceworld ‘97 demo build.
For this post, we will focus on the May 6, ‘98 set of sprites, which contain the vast majority of new faces. So, without further ado, onward to the pokemon!
(#300) Kokopelli Pokemon/Celebi
Tumblr media
(May 6, ‘98)       (Spaceworld ‘99 Demo)
This first pair of sprites looks very much like Kokopelli, a fertility deity of some Native American cultures. This deity can be seen in ancient Native American petroglyphs, as a humpbacked flute player with feathers on the head. Surprisingly, we find that Celebi in the Spaceworld ‘99 Demo seems to be an updated version of this design, making Celebi’s design origins much different than expected. However, its fertility diety inspiration is still somewhat apparant in the modern Celebi, as a creature that causes plant life to flourish.
(#301) Eel Pokemon
Tumblr media
While the sprite files did not reveal a name or other data, this eel’s sprites were numbered right beside the Gurotesu (Grotess) and Ikari (Anchorage) sprites, suggesting it once was the start of their evolution chain.
(#304) Fire Fox Pokemon
Tumblr media
This little fellow is a fox that seems to have a fiery tail. It’s possible this fire fox was inspired by kitsune (just as Vulpix/Ninetails were) and that it was later redesigned as Fennekin.
(#305 - 308) Snow Bunny Evolution Line
Tumblr media
These four pokemon seem to belong to the same evolutionary line. The second one seems to based on the Yuki Usagi, a ‘Snow Bunny.’ In Japan, these cute little critters are made in the snow (using leaves for the ears). They also sometimes make these Yuki Usagi as little marshmallow or mochi treats. So this pokemon line could be inspired by either of these. Considering the leaves and the snow, I would guess these would have been Grass/Ice.
(#309) Elephant Pokemon
Tumblr media
You might wonder if this chonky boy-- looking tough with horns on his head and back-- was an early version of Donphan, but Donphan and Phanpy were present in the Spaceworld ‘97 demo. Indeed, this elephant and Phanpy/Donphan both exist in the same set of sprites from May ‘98, so it was simply a case of two types of elephants. This pokemon also calls to mind a glimpse of a cut beta pokemon we saw from Generation 1 (from ‘Satoshi Tajiri: The Man Who Made Pokémon’):
Tumblr media
Same fierce eyes, at any rate! Alas, these both never saw the light of day. However, it’s possible this elephant was reworked into Piloswine, which is not in the May ‘98 collection but does appear in the June 13 ‘99 collection (although Swinub is absent). While Piloswine and Swinub are more akin to wild boars, there is also some relation to mammoths (an inspiration more heavily leaned on with Mammoswine in later games). Then again, there’s another pokemon you’ll see a little further down this list that might have inspired Piloswine instead.
(#311) Natu/Xatu Mid-Evolution
Tumblr media
What is clearly a mid-evolution (its file number sits between the two). Has a peacock-like tail. Honestly, I think this works really good as a mid-evolution, and I don’t know why it was cut. I want to name it “Watu.”
(#313) Drunk Kiwi Pokemon
Tumblr media
This one is just hilarious to look at. It appears to probably be a kiwi-bird? A very crazy-eyed, loopy one. I can see why this one was cut. The goofy, simple design kind of looks like a knockoff cartoon character for children.
(#314) Scorpion Pokemon
Tumblr media
A pretty badass-looking scorpion, although a rather basic design. I dig the funky head, though. It seems like it has a single, beady eye and is rather menacing. This pokemon may have been later reworked into Gligar, a pokemon that first appears after this sprite set, in the June 13 ‘99 group:
Tumblr media
Admittedly this is rather different from the Gligar we know, but it is an early design.
Or, who knows-- maybe this little fellah was later reworked into Skorupi. (If so, it’s a shame, as I don’t dig the weird accordian-like design of its limbs and its evolution.)
(#315) Quail Pokemon
Tumblr media
A pudgey little quail pokemon. Doesn’t seem related to the kiwi pokemon. It’s a very cute little thing, and has lots of potential to evolve into something interesting, but it seems they scrapped it pretty quickly.
(#316) Music Note Bird Pokemon
Tumblr media
Although these sprites are numbered right after the quail, and they are both birds, the designs are very different, so they seem unrelated. It seems the beta pokemon were simply blessed with a lot of birds. This little bird is in the shape of a clef, giving this bird a musical theme. It seems very likely it was later reworked into Chatot, a bird with a music-note shaped head and metronome tail.
(#319) Boar Pokemon
Tumblr media
A cute, grumpy little boar with antlers. Probably what eventually led to Piloswine found in the June 13 ‘99 group. A bit of a shame, in my mind, as I kind of prefer this design.
(#325) Spikey Dog Pokemon
Tumblr media
The curious thing is that this dog looks very similar to “Pudi,” a pokemon we saw in the Spaceworld ‘97 demo, which was intended to be a pre-evolution of Growlithe. But Pudi is also in this same collection of sprites!
Tumblr media
Perhaps they were toying with the idea of re-designing Pudi (and had already scrapped a bunch of baby pokemon) and just hadn’t bothered to remove the old Pudi yet. It’s hard to say. Ultimately, these both were scrapped, but at least we still have Subbull/Granbull.
(#331) Yūrei Ghost Pokemon
Tumblr media
This little ghost has two things that are common in Japanese folklore: the hitaikakushi (the white cloth headband it wears) and the two little balls of fire called hitodama. It is unknown why this ghost pokemon was scrapped, but perhaps they thought the little fellow wouldn’t translate well overseas?
(#344) Viking Ship Pokemon
Tumblr media
Look at this beauty! A pokemon based off some sort of Viking ship. I absolutely adore this one. It’s creative and charming. I hope to see it in the future.
(#349) Wooly Dog Pokemon
Tumblr media
This canine-like creature is fluffy as all out. Honestly I think it’s a tad odd, with how tangled and disheveled its fur looks. I can’t help but compare it to the early desings of the three Legendary Beasts, since they also are very canine-like:
Tumblr media
These three designs are present in this same May 6, 98′ sprite collection as the representations of Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Were they possibly playing with a different design idea for the Legendary Beasts? Perhaps Suicune. The Wooly Dog is just such an imposing sprite, that I can’t help but wonder. All pure speculation, of course.
(#350) Rabbit Pokemon
Tumblr media
This rabbit has a rather intense look about him, and it makes me curious what the ideas were behind it. TCRF suggests it’s a possible pikachu clone.
(#351) Snake Pokemon
Tumblr media
This cute little worm or snake seems to be wearing a feather headdress, suggesting its design may also be Native American inspired, like the Natu line. On the other hand, this could be inspired by Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent deity in Aztec culture. I would have loved to see this little guy’s evolutions.
(#352) Scarecrow Bird
Tumblr media
A bird with a hat that kind of looks like a scarecrow. Honestly, it’s a super-cute idea.
(#353) Gargoyle Pokemon
Tumblr media
This crouching beastie sort of looks like a gargoyle with a long, sharp tail. I can’t quite tell if those bits on the side are little wings or just a part of its legs. It would be interesting to see this creature standing in a different position-- I feel like that would give us a better understanding of what it looks like. Interestingly, there are striking similarities with Aerodactyl:
Tumblr media
I wonder why they are so similar?
(#354 - 356) Manbō Evolution Family
Tumblr media
The first of these three fishies was someone we already met in the Spaceworld ‘97 demo-- it was named ‘Manbō 1.′ In the demo, it evolved into  Ikari (Anchorage) and then Gurotesu (Grotess). It seems it’s now been split off from those and given a new evolution family here. While I find that neat, and I quite like the expressions on these fish, they are admittedly a little bland.
(#360) Flying Squirrel(?) Pokemon
Tumblr media
TCRF guesses this is a flying squirrel, and it seems to be wearing a sheathed sword. Not sure about the headgear it’s sporting. Is that a ninja star?
(#364) Early Cyndaquil
Tumblr media
So, this May 6, ‘98 collection is really exciting. The original Gold/Silver fire starter line we saw in Spaceworld ‘97 (Honooguma’s line) is still present in this collection (as is the water-type ‘Cruz’ line and Chikorita’s line). So, what we have here seems to be an early Cyndaquil before they decided to turn it into a fire type and make it the fire starter! In fact, those spikes might even be icicles (like Alolan Sandslash), for all we know. If so, Cyndaquil’s typing pulled a 180.
(#377) Early Furret?
Tumblr media
Possibly an early Furret. Looks pretty awkward, not gonna lie; I’m glad it was probably refined into modern Furret, with more body definition between the head and tail.
(#378) Stork Pokemon
Tumblr media
It’s a stork, based on the myth of where babies come from. A cute idea, although its curly ‘hair’ looks a little funny to me.
(#380) Squid Pokemon
Tumblr media
A squid with drills for its mantle and arms. Since that’s kinda Beedrill’s thing, I’m glad they scrapped the idea. The backsprite lacks drills so it’s probably from a different design stage.
(#382 - 383) Early Burmy/Pineco
Tumblr media
Burmy/Wormadam/Mothim is based off the bagworm. Bagworms are grubs that use silk and lots of bits of leaves, bark and other objects to create a camouflaged cocoon. When they turn into adults, some species of female bagworms just look like their larval stage, while the males turn into winged moths. That is why Burmy/Wormadam/Mothim have their unique evolution situation. Clearly, these two beta pokemon are playing around with the bagworm idea. They probably went on to inspire both Pineco (another pokemon based on bagworms!) and the Burmy line in gen 4.
(#386) Koala Pokemon
Tumblr media
It’s so cool to see they were thinking about a koala pokemon this early. We would not finally get one until gen 7′s Komala.
(#387) Tanuki Pokemon
Tumblr media
A Tanuki that is carrying campfire kindling on his back, but the kindling has caught fire. Apparently based on the Kachi-Kachi Yama folktale, which is a surprisingly violent story, but I suppose folktales often are. Who knows why it was cut, but Sentret is the closest thing we have to a tanuki pokemon for now.
(#392) Megaphone(?) Bird Pokemon
Tumblr media
Yet another bird pokemon! There sure were a lot of beta birds. This one appears to have a megaphone-shaped beak. Or, possibly, its head is shaped like a gas mask (the strange eyes seem  to support this idea). Honestly I really dig the look of this one.
(#397) Frog Pokemon
Tumblr media
It’s tough to tell but it has a small horn on its head. It has a long tongue and is probably shouting “ribbithhhhhh!” It’s cute, but a little plain.
(#400) Tiny Hippo Pokemon
Tumblr media
Look at this little weirdo. I think it’s a tiny hippo? With a mohawk and a big grin and wild eyes. It doesn’t really seem to have a head, its mouth/eyes/ears are just stuck directly to a body. Looks pretty awkward, probably needed some polish. No idea what they were going for with it, but it’s interesting.
(#401) Skeleton Pokemon
Tumblr media
A very spooky, bipedal, living skeleton beast. It has a long snout and sharp teeth, almost like a crocodile or a dinosaur-like creature. Its head and shoulders have bony spikes and the front of its snout has markings that seem to be a nasal cavity. Very detailed. It also reminds me of Missingno, as some Missingno used the fossil skeletons as their front sprites. I would have loved to have this pokemon, and it’s a real shame they didn’t use it.
Tumblr media
(#402) Rodent Pokemon
A mouse or bunny with gigantic, spotted ears and no arms. Those are some serious ears; it almost looks like it could fly with them.
Tumblr media
(#403) Fly Pokemon
A bug-type!! It has a huge, creepy face, curly antenna and wings strangely really close to its head. I love it?? But it’s a bug, so of course I do.
Tumblr media
(#404) Plant Pokemon
The Snow Bunny was likely part grass-type, but other than that, this is our first grass beta! It has one eye, a spikey head, and almost foot-like roots. I love how grumpy it looks. There’s a possibility it was a pre-evolution for Sunflora, before they had created the idea of Sunkern (which is not present in this collection).
Tumblr media
(#405) Ant Pokemon
Another bug!! This one looks a lot like a winged ant. (Those do exist-- usually a temporary thing for mating flights) It’s possibly related to the fly pokemon above, sporting very similar wings. However, it doesn’t really seem like an evolution.
Tumblr media
(#406) Dinosaur Pokemon
A little dinosaur-like pokemon, looking up at you. It’s unclear if that’s a tough, bony skull, or if it’s maybe a hat. The clubbed tail makes me wonder if it’s related to #415 below, but it’s probably unlikely. However, it is pretty likely that this later became Cranidos.
Tumblr media
(#407) Early Cherrim
This clearly was a design that was picked up later, in gen 4, to create Cherubi/Cherrim’s sunshine form. I am glad the design was improved, because the lips on this one scare me.
Tumblr media
(#412) Early Dunsparce
Dunsparce looking quite different. No wings, no drill tail, with a much more typical snake-like face.
(#415) Dinosaur Pokemon
Tumblr media
It looks like an aquatic version of an Ankylosaurus or something similar. It’s possible it’s related to the Viking Ship pokemon (as a pre-evo), but there’s no way to know. I quite like it, though.
(#416) Flying Fish Pokemon
Tumblr media
This magnificent beast, this miracle of creation, is surely my favorite beta pokemon of all time. Revel in its glory. You may not like it, but this is the ideal pokemon body. What a perfect way to round off our collection of betas.

8, 12, 34, 35 !!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. a pokemon you’d like to see more merch of:
I can think of a lot that don’t get enough attention! I said a while ago about a decently sized munna or musharna plush seems that it’d be pretty obvious I still stand by that, I feel like skorupi is a good shape to hug as well. I guess my answer less specifically is they seem to mostly go for the same like 20 pokemon maybe with a couple other thrown in with the set, so just more variety in general. unless I do a whole thing though I can’t get like pokemon centre stuff there isn’t one in australia and they don’t ship internationally, so all I really see is pikachu eevee snorlax gengar kanto starters, occasionally eeveelutions or dragonite or something current so More stakataka stuff would rock though, dunsparce, torterra.. Oh I had a thought a couple of days ago and I forgot till now so you know the torchic dex entry? So those microwave heat packs they’re sometimes plushes too, a torchic one of those!
12. The game with the best soundtrack:
Man, pokemon always has killer music that I can think of, though like as soon as it’s out of my head it’s gone with music if I don’t have anything in it to focus on so it’s hard to say. d/p/p is probably going to be my answer for nostalgia reasons but that’s just a guess. mystery dungeon has such a memorable theme maybe more so than the main games so that for sure is something. I don’t remember the ranger soundtrack but it’s probably great and it’s probably one of my favourites also for nostalgia reasons. I don’t know, I think magikarp jump has pretty good music
34. Did you ever run into a shiny that you couldn’t catch?
YOU. Come into my askbox and bring up Starly to me?? How could you!!!!!!!!! /j shkdh yeah the uncatchable starly is the main one, I’m not sure how much the bergmite counts that wasn’t because I couldn’t catch it but just bad timing/circumstances outside of the game but I did fail it as well. Also this damn clobbopus I can’t seem to catch
35. What’s your favorite kind of battle: single, double, triple, rotation, or multi?
I’m not Super into battling like it’s pretty fun but a lot of it gets tedious to me so my answer is pretty boring, single or double probably, oh multi battles too it took me a minute to remember what they were, the others are cool for what they are though and they can be fun sometimes! I’d probably like triple more if it was possible to encounter wild pokemon like that in some situation that’d kick ass

Frequently called “ avia” by locals and customers, whether it annoy him or not is unknown but will play along to whatever he’s called.
Personality Sum:
He’s very energetic and spontaneous; is full of enthusiasm and curiosity. His impulsiveness and energy can cross the line of childlike charm to immaturity many times.
Gets bored rather easily and adding to his unpredictability makes him quite flaky; he’s kind of an airhead, but surprisingly is an hard worker and pretty self-reliant person though it doesn’t stop him from complaining and looking for scapegoats.
No matter how charming or nice he can be, it doesn’t change the fact he’s a selfish, stubborn, and analyzing brat.
Have an very direct and somewhat demanding attitude, quite frank with his words to the point of insensitivity. Have a lot of passion inside of him and tends to get overemotional even about little things.
Backstory
Xavier originally was from Goldenrod City and lived with his mother that works double duty as radio host and teacher. However, she was originally from Sinnoh and was known locally as the “ Honey Maiden ” in her hometown of Floaroma and was an idol until she retired as a young woman to move away to Johto with her lover at the time, though their love life was short lived it resulted in Xavier.
His mother though an official breeder worked as an elementary school teacher and an radio host as well that talked mainly about tips on Pokemon care that can benefit breeders and trainers; so he grew up pretty well informed about becoming an decent trainer. Like some other kids he grew up with, Xavier loved to run around and net small Bug types in nets and playing with them afterward. Unfortunately, he had to let them go since he wasn’t old enough to officially be an trainer.
When Xavier got his trainer license with a couple of his childhood friends, neighbors thought his go-to starter would be an Cyndaquil since he love bug types thus being easier to catch with a type advantage . However, he went with an Chikorita despite it’s type disadvantage merely because it was the only one left after his friends picked out Cyndaquil and Totodile before him. Despite that he appreciated having an Pokemon in the first place.
Immediately he went south for the Ilex Forest before heading back home and shortly afterward onward again. Xavier was in a rush to accomplish one milestone, to participate in the bug catching contestbefore officially going on his way.
Overtime he went on to explore around Johto and actually found some non-Bug types that he wanted raised as well, though still considered himself an Bug-type fanatic.
After visiting to his grandparents in Sinnoh Xavier’s lifestyle changed greatly. He became interested in contests after talking with coordinators along the way and watching some contests beforehand. Deciding he wanted to participate in contests himself, Xavier chosen to stay in Sinnoh and explore it as well.
After venturing past Pastoria City an fanatical trainer that mistaken him for his mother’s old business persona, inspired the boy to decided to use his appearance for his own good. Deciding to head back to Floaroma Town and promote their farm with the “reawakening of Honey Maiden” despite his grandparents initial disapproval. His efforts did some profitable help for his grandparents, so he decided to stay in Floaroma and help out his grandparents aside from the moments he leaves for short amounts of time to participate in contests or travel to train; with the promise that he doesn’t become an big idol like his mother did and only do small things like commercials and very minor roles in shows or movies.
Currently he runs the shop in his grandparents’ place as the manager as well as being the new mascot like his mother and grandmotherbefore him.
Faceclaim: Nishikino Maki of Love Live!
Specialize(s) in what type(s): Bug
Favorite Type(s): Bug, Grass, and Normal
Hobbies ?: Participating in contests, shopping, and gardening
Favorite Food(s): Most fruit desserts, pancakes, and honey rolls
Interest(s) with Pokemon: It’s obvious he absolutely adore Bug types, but can appreciate any Pokemon type as long as it have elegance or sturdiness. However he seems to judge a Pokemon’s ‘gracefulness’ or ‘strength’ from their temperament and potential power than appearance.
Know any other muse(s): N/A
——————————————————————————————————-
Tumblr media
( Brave, Good endurance )
Xavier’s Meganium is quite daring and will go headfirst into battle, but he’s pretty sturdy; probably from having to deal with type disadvantages from his bug enthusiast trainer. He isn’t one to steer away from an challenge, in fact he invites it though his spirit can be his biggest fault. When Xavier decided to become and coordinator he was the most eager Pokemon in the group to show out despite prior inexperience.
Tumblr media
( Bold, Proud of its power )
He was originally caught when Xavier competed in the tri-weekly bug catching contest at the National Park for the first time as an Scyther ( though they got third place ). Friendly though feisty nonetheless, he can be quite anhandful to deal especially since he likes an challenge. The mantis-like Pokemon seemed quite uncomfortable with his trainer’s sudden in contests, even now he prefers battling over contests but seems to enjoy contest participation to some degree after performing in an few and actually winning a couple of them.
Tumblr media
( Quirky, Often lost in thought )
After venturing through the Mt.Mortar, Xavier decided to camp nearby until he reached Mahogany town. While he was preparing food for his own Pokemon, the former Mareep decided to make herself at home at his campsite. Though he love Bug-types he couldn’t deny that having an Mareep would be useful deciding to catch her afterwards. She’s a airy, little goofball but overall Ampharos is sweet and friendly.
Tumblr media
( Jolly, Likes to thrash about )
Always seen buzzing around in the sky, flying as fast he pleases. Despite his intimidating appearance is very cheerful and carefree. He’s easily excitable and can get pretty jumpy from his nerves, but once the monster dragonfly settles down he’s incredibly upbeat toward anyone.
Tumblr media
( Adamant, Likes to run )
When Xavier decided to go to Sinnoh, one of his first visits was the Eterna Forest but unfortunately he didn’t get up early enough to catch any bugs. However, he still got the chance to chance an Buneary.  She’s stubborn though playful, and have an bit of a competitive streak.
Tumblr media
( Naive, Likes to fight )
Caught as an Skorupi in the Great Marsh while visiting Pastroia. He’s incredibly trusting and cheerful around anyone, seems to get in trouble when left to his own devices. Is as competitive as he is playful, so he likes to make an contest out of everything. Seems to be the youngest out of Xavier’s party.
——————————————————————————————————-
Tumblr media
( Lonely, Quick to flee )
Caught as a Weedle inside the Ilex Forest, and quickly grown attached to Xavier. Surprisingly nervous and easy to scare, used to naturally launch at whatever scares her before running off to her trainer in a frantic. Xavier gotten her out of the habit, since she would unintentionally initiate battles from pissed strangers; nowadays she’s got better nerves and seems slightly less attached to her trainer.
Tumblr media
Pamma  ( Naughty, Strong willed )
She was found nearby a tree where she fell on Xavier’s Scyther [ now Scizor ] and accidentally caused an fight. The Bug-type enthusiast couldn’t let this chance go away, even if battle was accidental and decided to her catch afterwards. She’s playful and mischievous, not to mention stubborn so many compare the beetle to her own trainer. She resides at his grandparents’ fruit farm and can be seen in the trees or helping around.
Tumblr media
Melon ( Bashful, Loves to eat )
After arriving settling in at his grandparents’ Xavier was excited to take his precious pet Shuckle with him. She was found near a large collections of rocks in a beach at an coastal city back in Johto and was with him every since. Melon is very shy around others and try to stay close to her trainer, but she’s easy to befriend.
Tumblr media
( Careful, Good perseverance )
When Xavier was trying to widen the variety of Pokemon he raised, he decided to take a crack with fishing while he was on the beach near Olivine. It was an long struggle but he caught the stubborn former Chinchou. He’s cautious around others and seems pretty fussy in general.
Tumblr media
Meadi  ( Serious, Hates to Lose )
While exploring his grandparents’ farm Xavier was enthralled by the amount of Combee andVespiquen. He was determined to raise an majestic looking Vespiquen too, but too proud to simply ask for an female Combee himself. Eventually he capture an wild Combee himself and found that she’s an natural leader when watching her interact with the weaker, younger Combee on the farm.
Mun Notes:  For those curious, just because he’s an cross dresser doesn’t mean that he recognize himself as an female but your muse can see him anyway they want ( I can’t stop them ). This is just mun to mun, not mun to other people muse(s).

the ocala gym leader is a mountain biking fanatic; their gym is outside and has ledges/ramps using the acro and mach bike

More Pokespe Fan Children
I want to talk a little more about my Pokespe Fan Children (1 2 3) because I think they are cute. These aren’t so much headcanons, as I don’t think any of this in the actually canon of the series with some minor changes. Instead, consider it to be more of an AU taking place after the events in the manga. I’m also guilty of shipping some of my fankids...so that’s a thing.
If anyone wants, I might post a comprehensive list of all their teams later, but not in this post. This one’ll only refer to some of their Pokemon. It’s kinda long, so the rest is under the cut.
PS I’d love to know what you guys think about them!
All of their first Pokemon (not starters) were:
Orange: Eevee, Grey: Zorua, Teal: Growlithe, Turquoise: Vulpix, Bronze: Wooper, Nickel: Slugma, Cobalt: Duskull, Garnet: Spinda, Peridot: Lotad, Waleria: Raltz, Quartz: Burmy (Trash), Beryl: Burmy (Plant), Zircon: Burmy (Sandy), Coral: Chingling, Amber: Pachirisu, Copper: Combee, Slate: Roggenrola, Zara: Goomy.
All of their starters are:
Orange: Bulbasaur, Grey: Oshawott, Teal: Squirtle, Turquoise: Charmander, Bronze: Chikorita, Nickel: Totodile, Cobalt: Torchic, Garnet: Mudkip, Peridot: Treeko, Waleria: N/A, Quartz: Turtwig, Beryl: Chimchar, Zircon: Piplup, Coral: Piplup, Amber: Turtwig, Copper: Chimchar, Slate: Snivy, Zara: Froakie.
Silver is majorly protective of his daughter, Nickel. He doesn’t want her to end up like him, kidnapped and fucked up. So it becomes a little absurd, but she knows how to work around his odd rules.
I’ve said this before, but I’ve started shipping Orange and Grey (honestly because they were right next to each other in their post) and, though I know nobody cares about shipping fan characters, I’ve called their ship RocknRollshipping because Orange is psuedo-punkrock (she’s a fucking badass) and Grey is a total geek (roll as in rolling dice). I just thought it was cute and wanted to share.
Now, just to talk about them as people. Orange is very punkrock, but earthy like her mother, determined to all hell like her father, and airheaded like both of them. Meanwhile, Grey get easily attached to things like his father and has the work ethic of his mother. I think it’d be cute for them to be paired together based on the personalities I’ve given them.
...why do I feel like I have to justify myself?
Orange likes to see him in in her denim jacket, even if it’s a bit tight, but she only thinks that makes it cuter.
They’re meeting was entirely accidental. Orange and her family were on vacation in Unova, they encountered each other, and became friends. The rest is history.
Grey’s Zorua likes to turn into Orange’s Eevee to confuse their owners. Ten years later, Zoroark still likes to turn into Umbreon for the same reason.
Long-distance skyping.
I kinda think of them as the “main characters” of this AU.
Orange is not a natural battler, so it takes a lot of effort for her to progress as a trainer. Her Pokemon journey was very difficult, creating stress that there’d be an expectation to do as well as her father, the once champion of Kanto.
Orange’s favorite Pokemon is Skorupi and it’s a shame she doesn’t have one.
I haven’t decide whether Orange or Nickel are Children of Viridian. It’s either one of them or neither of them. I’m leaning towards Nickel.
Grey is more of a backseat trainer. He’s a tactician who will help whoever he’s with by giving them information or tips on what to do next, all while using his own Pokemon for buffing or healing support if needed.
Nobody calls Turquoise by her name. Instead, they called her TQ or Tikki.
Most of Teal’s and Turquoise’s Pokemon are based on version exclusives for Red and Blue. Teal has Pokemon Red’s and Turquoise has Pokemon Blue’s, with the exception of their starters and Nidoran.
Teal and Turquoise rarely fight. They are very close, and any conflict would likely result in both parties sulking on their own or with their friends. Unfortunately, they also can’t let the other win and the argument would probably continue for days on end.
Quartz, Beryl, and Zircon all got Burmy as their first Pokemon because they’re stupid-looking and they all thought it was funny. Quartz named his Trash-Candy because that’s what it looks like, Beryl named hers Madame Flowers, and Zircon named his Pebs. They got them at the same time, at 6, 4, and 2 years old respectively. It was later realized that the 2-year-old Zircon meant to say Pebbles.
Zircon doesn’t let his Pokemon evolve because he thinks they’re cute. If anyone asks, he claims he’s just waiting for them to learn certain moves before evolving. It’s a lie.
Quartz is an unapologetic meme-lord.
Coral is a stone-cold bitch.
Coral and Quartz grew up together and they battle regularly. They are evenly matched and the current score is Coral: 52, Quartz: 50.
Cobalt has no desire to go on a Pokemon journey.
Peridot and Cobalt have the ultimate bromance.
Cobalt calls him Dot.
Peridot get a Lotad as his first Pokemon because he thought it was the most amazing thing he’d ever laid eyes on and needed to have it.
He never nicknamed it, but Cobalt calls it Jeeves because it is often used to carry things like a butler.
Now it thinks it’s name is Jeeves.
Garnet likes to boop her Spinda on the nose and watch is wobble around in confusion.
Garnet is tiny, but doesn’t care.
Peridot is a lot taller than his dad. Emerald doesn’t like this.
Bronze is torn between going into breeding or on a journey to discover new Pokemon.
Nothing Bronze wears ever looks good.
Copper doesn’t understand the first thing about battling and ends up with a garbage team, but tries his hardest anyway.
The only reason he got his first gym badge is because he caused the ceiling to cave in.
Amber once knocked out all his Pokemon, so he punched her Machamp in the face.
Amber is convinced her Machamp is absolutely adorable.
It’s name is Tulip.
Waleria’s health is questionable, but it is nowhere near as bad as her father’s, so it’s all good. It’s why she always wears comfortable slippers.
I have no information for Slate or Zara yet. I made them just to even out those posts, so I don’t have much to say.
Here, have a height chart with estimated/bullshat ages. Think of it as...an AU where the original Dexholders ages are compressed. I know the chart isn’t perfectly accurate, but you get the basic idea. (I’m really bad with height bc I’m 5′0″, so everybody looks tall to me and I don’t know what ‘too tall’ really is). The posts with the images of them, those are all of them at the same age. This would be them at different ages in real time.

RNG and Eggs.
RNG. RNG. RN FUCKING G. To me, it's the greatest insult you could put in a game that requires you to rely on RNG in order to get better things or the things that you need. I shouldn't have to rely on the powers that be in order to get 1 thing I need. No matter how many hours I put in, how much money I put in, or how long I wait for the "Good Spawns" or the "Best Event", I always get screwed over by the fucking lottery that is RNG. I have two games I'm about ready to quit for good because of RNG, which sucks because I actually enjoy them both. The main one is Pokemon GO. Everyone had high hopes for this game because it's the closest we currently have to having Pokemon in the real world. Too bad the initial release of the game was clearly rushed and should've had more time to flourish. For the first few months, everyone playing felt like Beta testers to the game since it had so many issues and bugs, but eventually Niantic started fixing the game and adding stuff the fans wanted (even if it takes over a year). They added events like Community days, where a specific Pokemon will show up in a horde with a good possibility of said Pokemon appearing shiny. These Community days only happen once a month for about 3-4 hours. At first this was a good way to get some rare Pokemon that had low appearance rates. However, lately it seems like they're lacking proper ideas and guidance. Take the month of December for example. They decided to have "Community Days" in which for three days of the month they had the Pokemon from previous Community days appear again on a higher rate. This is a good idea in theory, but the event was short notice and the Pokemon hardly appeared enough to actually make much of a dent in the progress of getting the evolutions. Not to mention the fact that they had a LATE winter event as well as didn't add a bunch of Ice type Pokemon that should've appeared during the winter event such as Froslass and Glaceon. They also only had I believe two Ice type Pokemon avalible possibly be shiny, which they should've added all shiny Ice type Pokemon. They are finally adding Piloswine as well as the shiny evolution line in the February Community day, but it feels so late as well as unwanted. I kid you not when I say I have hatched MORE THAN ENOUGH Swinub in Eggs to have a Piloswine, why waste a Community Day on the Pokemon is beyond me. But that brings me to my real issue in GO, which are the Eggs. Pokemon Eggs can only be obtained by spinning a PokeStop (except for 7k) and come in 4 variations: 2 Kilometers, 5k, 7k (which can only be obtained in gifts but have a high chance of appearing), and 10k. The only way to hatch these Eggs is by placing them in Incubators, but currently we are only given 1 permanente Incubator and mainly have to purchase 3 use Incubators using Coins which are hardly given so you mainly buy them using real money. However, the eggs are completely RNG and you have NO CLUE what could possibly hatch from the egg besides what’s limited in the variation you recieved. You can only hold up to a maximum of 9 Eggs at one time and there is no way to dispose of them besides walking the Kilometers needed to hatch the Egg. During some events they change what can possibly hatch from the Egg, but they still keep the normal Pokemon available in the Eggs, so the odds of you getting the Event Pokemon aren’t even good. This is especially annoying because they have such common and useless Pokemon in these Eggs, and instead of removing them as new Pokemon are released, they just add the new ones in without even lowering the odds of previous Pokemon. One of my many issues about the way this is run is the fact that you can’t dispose of Eggs like I said before, but they have 10k spawn so rarely that I’ve hardly gotten any in the past months. I’ve probably hatched more than 100 Eggs ever since Gen 4 Pokemon were released, yet only about 11 of those were 10k, and 7 of those Eggs hatched into Dratini which I no longer need in the slightest. I’ve probably encountered 3 wild Dratini not in the Community day (which I missed anyway), yet I’ve hatched more than enough to fully evolve 3 Dragonite (which takes a total of 125 candy each). They released Pokemon such as Bagon, Shinx, and Riolu in 10k Eggs, yet I’m still casually getting Dratini in the very few 10k Eggs I can aquire. Not to mention they put Pokemon that you can casually find in Eggs, so there’s no need to hatch them other than waste your time and Limited use Incubators. Here's a list of Pokemon avaliable in Eggs currently: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon-go-eggs-list I personally think that most if not all the Pokemon you can hatch in 2k Eggs don't need to be hatched since they appear pretty much everywhere. 5k Eggs have the most Pokemon avaliable, however a bunch of them are fairly common as well. 7k Eggs used to only have Alolan Pokemon variations but they recently added a bunch of Pokemon that are only obtainable through hatching as well as other Pokemon that really don't need to be in there. 10k Eggs are the worst in my opinion. The rarest of Pokemon should be in 10k Eggs since they require the most work to hatch, yet Pokemon such as Skorupi, Drifloon, Mareep, and Slakoth are all Pokemon that don't fit this description at all. It also feels like a bunch of the Pokemon were placed in the wrong Eggs. They should've had only Pokemon hard to find be hatchable inside Eggs, and the more Kilometers required, they rarer the Pokemon. If I had anything to do with placements, I'd put only the Starter Pokemon, Pikachu, and Eevee in 5k Eggs. Then in 7k should only be all Baby Pokemon such as Magby, Wynaut, and Riolu since these Eggs are only obtained via gifts sent from friends. Finally, 10k would possibly hatch Dratini, Larvitar, Bagon, Trapinch, and other very hard to find Pokemon such as the Shinx line. In all honesty, we can get rid of 2k Eggs or just have every avaliable Pokemon hatch from them to make it a real RNG lottery. Another way to fix Eggs in GO is to give players the option to refuse and/or get rid of Eggs, have different PokeStops have different odds for the Pokemon in the Eggs, as well as have the Eggs actually tell us or give us a percentage of what will hatch from the Egg. It's annoying that we actually have to hatch the Eggs in order to make room to obtain more, especially since there's currently no way to hold more than 9 Eggs at once, so it only makes sense if players were given the right to discard eggs, or at least refuse them upon finding one. If the Pokemon you hatch from an Egg actually differed depending on which PokeStop you got them from, it would give players more reason to explore. Finally, if the Eggs told us or at least gave us any sort of hint as to what will hatch from the egg, then we the players won't be 100% surprised and possibly disapointed at what we hatched, because I can't tell you how much easier it'd be on me if I knew that I was gonna hatch a Mareep from the start and not have my hopes that I finally hatch my own Riolu. I love Pokemon, grew up on it, and I don't want to quit playing GO. But Niantic keeps dropping the ball that is this game as if it were covered in slime. Fix the game, please.
