What do people think of fics that have chapters that vary in length so much? Such as, I just write a fic and the first chapter is 750 words. The second chapter is almost 2500. Personally it annoys me to publish chapters that vary so much in length but I want to know reader perspectives. I may just be overthinking it/have OCD about consistent chapter lengths.

A chapter goes on for as long as it has to. Don’t stress about it. I write a lot of novel- or novella-length works and my chapters range from 4K to 12K in some cases. It’s whatever floats your boat.

(I assume Naga have different concepts of nakedness and how much clothing is appropriate in what situation.)

@dragonpressgraphics first in May 4th and then when it got no attention I reposted it on May 14th. I just feel like 65-2 is too huge of a gap to attribute to my writing. And I have dedicated followers on ao3 who usually comment on all of my work and they haven’t even so much as kudos’d it

I have noticed a definite drop off as well for brand new fics and attention. it seems random whats getting any. 

but i have seen several things - A03 HAS been having a lot of issues lately : one of which was recently not allowing me to comment on anything. at all. 

also, finals. i know a few of my usual readers keep apologizing to me because of finals that they don’t have time for reading right now.

i haven’t started the story (because i’m behind as well) and i do get your notifications. I remember seeing one for tat story but i don’t remember which chapter it was?

If you are still accepting those prompts? How about an AU version of GabrielxBalthazar for “Who wouldn’t be angry you ate all of my cereal and faked your death for three years!”

Neither Balthazar nor Gabriel remembered so much hitting involved in family reunions before, but here they are, righteous slap fight between them for their first meeting in about three years.

“Why are you still hitting me?!” Balthazar demands, open palming Gabriel in response to a pop against his cheek.

“You deserve every second of it!” Gabriel yells back. “Why are you hitting me?!”

“Because you’re hitting me!”

The slapping turns to grappling and they’re both on the floor in some strange, uncoordinated wrestling match. Gabriel manages to get Balthazar’s gray t-shirt cinched over the smug man’s head, but Balthazar has the utter indecency to give the shorter angel a hell of a wedgie.

Balthazar gets the upper hand eventually, pinning Gabriel to the ground. “Stop being a shit! Why are you so angry? I’m being the bigger man here! You’re the one who has no right!”

“I fucking do!” Gabriel fumes. “Who wouldn’t be angry! You ate all of my cereal and fakes your death for three years! I looked for you!”

Shocked, Balthazar sits back on his haunches. “What are you talking about? That was you!”

“It was you!”

He scoffs. “Surely not.”

Gabriel kicks his legs out, unseating Balthazar and crashing him to the floor. “You did too, you asshole! All the Cocoa Puffs! All the marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms!”

Balthazar goes still. Blinks. “Oh, yes. I remember now. I do apologize.”

Gabriel punches his brother in the chest for good measure, making him oof. “And now you’re back,” he snarls.

“Now I’m back,” Balthazar grins. He holds out his hand. Gabriel smacks their palms together and they help each other to their feet, straightening their clothes.

“Fine.”

“Now that’s settled, let’s go help some Winchesters.”

What’s your opinion on fics that are formatted without spaces between paragraphs? I know that’s how regular books are formatted... but even books usually have 1.5 point spacing so it’s easier to read. I always feel guilty because I simply physically can not read fics that are formatted without spaces (not even to mention fics that are just giant blocks of text) and I feel like I am missing out on a huge amount of fics because of this!

I prefer the extra space between paragraphs, too. Someone mentioned in a reblog forever ago that reading on screens makes that extra spacing necessary and I have to agree. Without that break, I find it all seems like a wall of text and it becomes increasingly hard for me to read as I go through. Plus I have some vision problems that mean I almost exclusively read on my laptop screen with my browser zoomed to 150% or so. (don’t get me started on blogs with tiny fonts)

Part of it for me might also be my dialogue-centric writing style. When I write fic I have a lot of white space because I’m constantly starting new paragraphs for each speaker. I sometimes wonder if that causes the opposite problem where readers think my text is too spaced out - like I’m a student in school changing my spacing options so that my story looks longer ;)

Idk, I always saw Mary as more of an Alpha and John a Beta who rose to the occasion when his wife died. Or tried to, anyway. It would explain his postulations and insistence to always be macho, an attitude he pushed on to his sons.

That would be an alternative. I would also like beta!John. ;3 I’m really not all that set. Though I can never make up my mind if alpha women would be able to conceive children and someone kinda has to *lol*

(I also usually can’t make up my mind about Sam. Dean’s an alpha, but Sam? Hrm.)

I would love some more DCJ. That ship is so underrated

It’s such a fun ship! Gosh it had it’s own bang, I think the crowd for DCJ might be small but they are fierce and put out some great fucking work. You know, as much as I love all the fun Au’s and possibilities for this ship, DCJ in canon would be really weird and interesting? Like, Cas and Jimmy sharing the vessel and both having a thing with Dean, and mentally with each other. It’s got potential. But all the au’s with mistaken identities are my jam. Cas and Jimmy playing games on Dean - when like, they all know it and it’s a fun for all kind of thing - I totally love it.
