I’ve been into infusing spirits with botanicals lately, here’s my latest experiment—Lavender and Nectarine Margarita! Perfection. Next time, I want to try it with apricots. Apricot and lavender is a top tier flavor combination—I had goat cheese ice cream topped with lavender and apricot soda at @ateranyc 7 years ago, and I STILL think about it all the time.

That’s what inspired me to juice over ripe nectarines and infuse tequila with lavender last night. The results were delicious. The juiciness of stone fruit mellows out lavender to create a lush, sweet flavor that works really well with tequila.

Recipe: 2 tsp dried lavender (@tebellateacompany) 2oz tequila (@donjuliotequila) 1oz fresh nectarine juice 1/2oz lime juice 1/2oz @cointreau

Add the dried lavender to tequila, let it infuse for 5 minutes. Juice your nectarines (I’ll be honest, I cut 2 nectarines into quarters and squeezed the pieces with a citrus press—it works, but it’s messy. I’m too lazy to deal with boiling fruit for juice. Do whatever method you like best).

Strain the infused tequila straight into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add the lime juice, nectarine juice, and @cointreau. Shake until nice and icy, then strain into an ice-filled glass. https://www.instagram.com/p/CitdmWbMRjl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Stir lightly (which I didn't do here yet, because look at that! 😬) Blood Orange Season is some pretty hype time for Drinkstagram. For a good reason if you ask me, because they're just some delicious stuff. Regular orange is just some pretty boring stuff. Besides the mandatory zests & oils of course. But the juice? I can't even think of a single Cocktail that makes good use of it 💁‍♀️ Sanguinelli or Moro on the other hand have a more balanced sourness, a fuller taste and the much more thrilling and fuller aroma. A Negroni with the addition of juice is superb, but really not everybody's darling. Refreshing Longdrinks however are a safe way to make more guests happy.
