Untitled Xehanort Post
Having posted about Sephiroth recently and all of the highs and lows he’s been through, I am reminded that whatever his case may be, he’s got it easy when compared to Xehanort of the Kingdom Hearts series, who began his existence as a Disneyfied spiritual successor to Sephiroth but has now been rendered into the one of the most poorly written and downright headache-inducingly confusing villains in video game history. And I’m goddamn sick of it, so I say that Xehanort should not be considered a single character, but three individual ones.
Let’s call them Xehanort A, Xehanort B, and Xehanort C and look them over, shall we?
Tumblr media
This fucking asshole. The Keyblade wielder from Scala ad Caelum Destiny Islands whom Nomura insisted on making the Big Bad of the so-called “Dark Seeker Saga”, positioned as somehow being both an omnipotent master planner who’s also the most powerful Keyblade Master to ever live and just a pawn in an even more convoluted scheme concocted by even more powerful Keyblade Masters, and whose many motivations don’t make an iota of sense.
His trajectory through the series is as follows:
BBS - Old version as Big Bad, brief flashback of young version. BBS:FM - Young version and will-endowed armor as Secret Bosses. RE:CODED - Young version in stinger at the end of the 2.5 HD Collection movie. 3D/HD - Young version as Big Bad, old version as Bigger Bad. KH3 - Old version as Big Bad, young version as minion, younger version playing chess. KH3:RM - New scenes and boss battles with both young and old versions. MOM - Old version as Final Boss. UX:DR - Younger version as Player Character, young and old versions at the end.
Look, when you have to boil what makes a great villain down to one word, it’d have to be “understanding”. You must either understand the villain in areas such as personality, background and motive in order to make some kind of connection with them, or find that they are (deliberately on the writer’s part) beyond understanding to a degree that their presence invokes fear and apprehension. Hell, Sephiroth manages both at once given his human side and his Jenova side. But Xehanort A is just impossible to understand, and not in a scary deliberate way either since Nomura clearly wants you to see him as humanized. If you can truly understand a villain, then you can summarize even the most complex of them with a degree of brevity. I cannot for the life of me do so with Xehanort. The time travel factor alone makes summarizing him a chore, to say nothing of the clusterfuckery that is Dark Road.
Xehanort A was fun when he was just the evil, scheming old bastard voiced by Leonard Nimoy in Birth by Sleep, and he also made a fine “turn your brain off and just enjoy beating the shit out of ‘em” baddie voiced by Christopher Lloyd in Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind. Every other appearance he makes, whether it be the old, young or even younger versions, blows.
Tumblr media
Ah, yes. The original Xehanort, conception-wise. A body-stealing Heartless who claimed to be Ansem, ruler of Hollow Bastion, only for it later to be revealed that he was actually Ansem’s top apprentice who had betrayed his master and stolen his name and research in order to continue it all the way to its “logical conclusion”: plunging all worlds into eternal DARKNESS!
His trajectory through the series is as follows:
KH - Big Bad. COM - DiZ in disguise, real version Final Boss of Riku's Story. KH2 - Form taken by Riku, portrait and flashback. CODED - Robed Heartless form in flashback. DAYS - Form taken by Riku. BBS - Final Boss of Terra's Story and The Final Episode. 3D/HD - Minion to Master Xehanort, flashback at start. 0.2 BBS - Spiritual cameo appearance. KH3 - Minion to Master Xehanort. KH3:RM - New scenes and boss battles. MOM - Memory-based battle, flashback, brief appearances at end. UX:DR - Robed Heartless form in cameo role.
It’s easy to see where Xehanort B went wrong. Following the first half of his trajectory (KH through BBS), we get the second half (3D/HD through UX:DR) where suddenly he’s a “minion to Master Xehanort”. If that had happened sequentially, it would be a downgrade as is. But Nomura took it a step further by claiming he was always just Xehanort A’s minion and trying to progress his master plan, even time-traveling to the past in order to give Xehanort A’s younger self time-travel powers and this is the reason why he gave up his body to become a Heartless....which is in direct contradiction to what he himself stated was his reason for giving up his body in the original Kingdom Hearts! His personality also went screwy at this point, with the Heartless version of him now acting knowingly and gleefully evil in 3D/HD rather than with deranged, self-important pomposity...only for that characterization to shift to the human version of him in KH3 while the Heartless version is suddenly acting all stern and somber and even sympathetic for no clear reason. And don’t even get me started on the WTFery that transpired with him in Melody of Memory. It’s all such an egregious waste. This once great villain got turned into a confusing accessory to an even more confusing villain.
Tumblr media
Could it be? A character who bears the name of Xehanort that still manages to have his dignity mostly in tact? YES! It’s Xemnas, the leader of Organization XIII, a Nobody formed from the body and soul of Xehanort B after he became a Heartless. He holds power over nothingness, and fiercely desires for the universe to be remade in his own empty image.
His trajectory through the series is as follows:
KH:FM - Secret Boss. RE:COM - Last shot of stinger at the end of Sora's Story. KH2 - Big Bad. KH2:FM - New scenes and boss battles. DAYS - Big Bad in Story Mode and playable character in Mission Mode. 3D/HD - Minion to Master Xehanort and Final Boss of Sora's Story. KH3 - Minion to Master Xehanort. KH3:RM - New scenes and boss battles. MOM - Memory-based battle, brief appearance at end.
The sole blemish on Xehanort C’s record is 3D/HD, where just like Xehanort B, Nomura tries to claim he was following the master plan of Xehanort A the whole time and that he simply lied about core facets of his own plan, including Nobodies lacking hearts (even though he wasn’t the only person to say that and many who would know also stated as much....) Reducing him to someone else’s pawn and brushing off his own personal complexities and objectives as mere lies was an insult of the highest order. Mercifully, Kingdom Hearts III basically ignores all that, with him being characterized sincerely again and showing subtle signs of plotting to betray Xehanort A when the time is right...unfortunately for him, that time doesn’t come before he is cut down by Sora once again. However, he still makes the most of whenever he is on screen with the frightening degree of malice he emanates, and is responsible for several endgame highlights (one lowlight too, but that’s technically more Xehanort A’s fault than his so I’ll let it slide). For the most part, Xehanort C still embodies what Xehanort should have stayed: a scary Sephiroth-caliber villain in a Disney-based universe.

saturday night question
ffxivwrite2021 #06: avatar
⮞ lunya/g'raha. 947 words. ⮞ my extremely indulgent mmo gamer au. ⮞ g'raha commits to the long haul in growing closer to his roommate: downloading the free trial of her favourite mmorpg.
avatar: an electronic image that represents and may be manipulated by a computer user (as in a game).
"Raha," Lunya said, leaning forward to squint at the TV, where what was unmistakably a more anime version of himself was doing a dumb little dance in his underwear admist a sea of blue, "You've just made yourself."
"Uh," floundered G'raha with the growing realization that his character looking exactly like him made the underwear dance significantly more embarrassing, especially in front of his roommate that he was kind of a little in love with. "Is there something wrong with that?"
Said roommate looked like she belonged on a golden recliner eating grapes and getting fanned with palm leaves, dressed in white silk with her starlight hair falling in gentle waves across a pile of plush pillows. Or, she did in his imagination—in reality she was really just in her pyjamas and getting empanada crumbs on his bed, but the image was so endearing he was willing to romanticize the future itchiness of his bedsheets away. He was willing to do a lot of things for Lunya, really, considering he was delving into his first ever MMORPG after years of being very content with his mostly single-player life.
"No, no!" Lunya giggled, waving her little hand with a blur of pink, and his heart did a little jig at the sound. She came back from a spa day and sleepover with friends just the night before and the apartment had been far too quiet without her chattering up a storm on call and saying things he didn't understand, like, blue uptime or pre-position for cycles. "I'm just surprised! I thought you'd make like… a cooler version of yourself. Like a shounen protag or whatever, named after a historic figure. That feels more up your alley… cat."
"I am cool," G'raha insisted with a toss of a raisin that she simply caught right in her mouth.
"Of course you are." She patted his cheek with one hand and pressed another empanada into his own hands with the other. "Making yourself isn't weird or anything, promise. Mine's kind of like that—me, but like… better. Cuter. Nicer, even. Kind of who I wanna be."
G'raha frowned around his snack. Even without the whole romantic attachment thing, he sincerely believed Lunya already was the best version of herself that she could be, and the cutest person in Mor Dhona. Not that she would take a compliment like that easily. The girl dodged genuine praise for herself like his history professor dodged gateways for Ejika to start on a two hour tangent, keeping up a bright but guarded smile when anyone tried too hard to remind her she was a genuinely good person.
"—but like, Rjoli plays a very pink Mithra with a pompadour," Lunya was saying. He tore his eyes away from her very cute face, looking back to see anime-him do stretches, and finally remembered to toggle his clothes back on. "And Reese fantasias like every two days—that's the paid appearance change thing. I'll probably log on today and she'll be a Tarutaru again. Alisaie—you remember her, right? She helped me move in and called you a twink—her character was named Sephiroth Strife up until like, a year ago, when she fantasia'd to a female Galka and name-changed to Girl Power. So it's fine, you can make whatever you want!"
"I'm just used to making myself in games," he admitted. "It's the isekai fantasy." If he couldn't go on a cool adventure in real life and make a name for himself, then he'd do it in a video game, damn it all.
"Yeah, I get it." Lunya leaned toward him then, a strange sparkle in her eye as she winked. "Y'know, some people make characters they're attracted to, since they have to look at them all the time."
"Bnrfhrf," G'raha said eloquently as he stuffed the last half of empanada in his mouth.
"OUR SONG OF HOPE," bellowed Lunya's phone before he could swallow and say something stupid like oh, I can't do that, I'd just make you, oopsie, or honestly I'd rather look at you instead of pixels that look like you. "SHE DANCES ON THE WIND, HIGHER, OH—"
Lunya groaned, lifting up her phone to show him. Hag-ami ♡, said the caller ID over a photo of Hanami Hagane giving him the worst noogie he'd ever received in his whole life at the Mor Dhona night market.
"Baba Yagami," she huffed as she answered. "You can just text me. Y'know, like, a normal person? Wh—what do you mean, Haruki and Estinien got crushed by a piano? Did you take them to the hospital and call Ninira or—" She jolted upright, clambering off his bed and stumbling out into the hallway.
G'raha hastily swept the empanada crumbs off the sheets and busied himself with failing to absorb the walls of text describing the patron deities of the world within Final Fantasy XIV.
"Well," Lunya said cheerily when she returned, looking like she hadn't just gotten news of one or two of her friends possibly breaking a few bones. "I don't have raid tonight, soooo I can show you the ropes! Do you want to order Nagxian food for dinner? Vertty told me about a really good restaurant that opened last week. I'll bring my laptop in and we can eat while playing!"
"Yeah, that'd be great!" It would be great! They'd eaten dinner over video games plenty of times before and he hadn't humiliated himself too hard through any tutorials thus far. Just two roommates—two good friends—having a good time! No problem. No deal. He didn't need an embarrassing crush on Lunya to love to spend time with her.
"Alright, it's a date!"
Never mind, he was so fucked.

FFVII: REMAKE Exists to Mock Your Pain
This is a post about Aerith Gainsborough.
If you are wondering, this is not a post about shipping.  It is also very long.
I do talk about the love triangle from a narrative construction and game design standpoint, though. If that interests you, go ahead. If not, scroll on.
+++ Open Spoilers for FFVII (1997) and FFVII: REMAKE +++
So, my reading of FFVII’s infamous Love Triangle has always been that, in the text, there, uh…
Isn't one.
Not really.
The structure of the entire narrative and the trajectory of Cloud's and Tifa's character arcs are built around the two of them baring their vulnerabilities at each other in a rare moment of acceptance, connection, and understanding. You might argue that we never see them physically intimate, here them say those three little words, or even engage in a few PDAs, that the nature of their relationship isn’t clear.
But to be honest?
Who cares that we don’t?
Something we can learn from Good Omens is that, if two characters have to kiss or fuck or say ‘I love you’ to convince you that they’re head over heels for each other, the story is either poorly written or you don’t really understand the meaning of the word.
I have a higher opinion of this game than that, and I want to have a high opinion of you, gentle reader.
The Lifestream Sequence is the emotional climax of the game’s narrative. The rest is simply clean up and denouement. However, that fact does beg the question: "What then, is the narrative purpose of Aerith's attraction to Cloud?"
To start, it's not a connection to Zack Fair, given that in the OG he's more plot device than person. So, what is it then?
I'd argue, that through a combination of incident and design, the Triangle exists at the crux of two competing narrative threads, held in tension by the fact that, as an audience, we share our perspective with the POV character, Cloud in this instance, and the plot works through him to us, most of the time. These two narrative threads are:
Establishing and foreshadowing Cloud's romantic feelings for Tifa as present and important to him and his character.
Getting the audience, not Cloud, to fall in love with Aerith Gainsborough.
If you’ll allow me to put my Doylist hat on for a moment, I have some trivia for you.
As an interesting hiccup of human psychology, the wad of soggy bacon that is your brain is incapable of distinguishing, on an emotional level, between real people and fictional ones. This is why you can start to feel like, after watching the same streamer or listening to the same podcast for long enough, you might start to feel like the hosts are your friends, even if you logically know that isn't true. It is the fundamental psychological reason fiction can resonate with us, despite us knowing it’s, fundamentally, an entertaining lie. Video games, as an interactive medium, can dig into this phenomenon like no other form of storytelling. With Aerith, you might have spent 20 to 30 hours with her by the time you get to the Forgotten Capital. You’ve laughed and fought and maybe cried with her across two continents and a trio of plot arcs. She’s a person the audience has, via Cloud, shared a whirlwind, globe-spanning adventure.
The reason that its her death, out of all the other fictional deaths we’ve experienced, out of all the deaths within FFVII itself, that hurts the most, is because that, by the time she leaves the Temple of the Ancients on her own, she doesn’t just feel like Cloud’s friend.
Its over just when she feels like she’s become yours.
Not content to simply to explore the grieving process of its own characters, FFVII reaches out to take something from you, and have you grieve with them.
A recurring and oft-pointed-out design decision is the empty space left by Aerith after she dies. Holes in group formations, gaps in menus, etc. Places where she used to be. A reminder of the loss, or more optimistically, a commentary on how she’s still with the party in spirit.
I would argue that it might just as easily be you in that space. AVALANCHE is a rag-tag group of misfits bound together by their grief, and when you leave the Forgotten Capital, you’ve been blooded. You’re trauma-bonded to the group now, and you’re all there, shoulder-to-shoulder to do right by your fallen friend.
It’s a gimmick that appears on the ludic level as well. Cloud’s various panic attacks, out-of-body experiences, and struggles for control are experienced by the audience through the mechanics. Sephiroth manipulates Cloud by disrupting, blocking, and limiting your connection to him. he isn’t just denying Cloud agency, he’s reaching out through the fourth wall to deny you your own.
To personally victimize you.
Once you leave the Forgotten Capital, the dialogue choices vanish. You are no longer Cloud’s co-pilot. The trauma and grief has severed that connection you had with him. You can’t do anything to help or guide him anymore. He’s on his own and you, along with Tifa, have to watch him slip out of your grasp and into the hands of an enemy all three of you are powerless to fight.
Final Fantasy VII isn’t a video game.
Final Fantasy VII is an elaborate mouse trap masquerading as a late-90′s JRPG, and Aerith Gainsborough, part-time human, full-time hello kitty monster truck, is an insidiously crafted piece of fine Swiss Gouda. It is designed, from script to visuals to music, to fill your heart to bursting and then run it over with a sixteen-wheeler; then leave you reeling for long enough that you don’t hear the tell-tale crunch of rubber-on-asphalt as it backs up over your pulped torso for good measure.
Which brings us to REMAKE. Namely, why did they cut a lot of scenes from the OG’s script that heavily featured Aerith flirting with Cloud? Or suggested there might be something there, between them, to the audience? It’s for the same reason that Sephiroth no longer has his trademark slow-burn rise to the center of the stage.
Those plot points no longer served their narrative purpose.
REMAKE is, functionally, a pseudo-sequel. A retelling that exists in conversation with a past version of itself, and is constructed with the assumption that the audience is, at least passingly, familiar with its legacy.
Sephiroth doesn’t get a mysterious build-up because everyone already knows who he is and what he’s about, he and Aerith are familiar with at least a broad-strokes version of the script because the audience already knows it by heart, Cloud gets headache flashbacks of scenes from the OG when we see something we know will be picked up down the line, and Aerith isn’t pushed as hard as a love interest to the audience because we’re already attached to her at the hip.
Aerith seemingly knows about her fate, and while the game leans heavily on suggesting Tifa and Cloud’s shared romantic feelings, even moreso than the original did in this segment, it still holds space for Cloud to pursue Aerith, should you choose. However, she all but talks past him and directly to the audience in her Chapter 14 Resolution scene, warning us away and signposting an oncoming tragedy so that we might brace for it when the time comes and spare us any unnecessary pain.
Her character development gets fast tracked too, through knowledge granted from the Arbiters, she grows quickly towards her late-disk-one identity as the Last Ancient. She gets a piece of the closure with Zack she might get at the Gold Saucer on her date with Cloud, a chance to say goodbye to the last bit of her normal life before she was able to fully embrace the fact that it was gone. She even gets the closing speech this time, last words usually reserved for the protagonist.
But that’s what she is at the end of REMAKE, isn’t it? The only one on the same playing field as Sephiroth and the only one who might be on the same page as the audience. Equal parts the Aerith that just left Midgar and the Aerith that we saw leave for the Forgotten Capital back in 1997, on a mission to protect her friends from the danger that lay on the path she knew she had to walk.
All of us now get to walk that path on more time.
Maybe this time we’ll get to walk it with her. Maybe this time we’ll get that happy ending. Hell, maybe Zack makes it out fine too and we get that heartfelt reunion our hearts bled for when finished Crisis Core. Maybe yours is still bleeding.
Maybe, maybe, maybe.
The Arbiters subplot exists to taunt us with these possibilities, to roll back our grief from acceptance to bargaining to denial, if we ever reached those stages to begin with. I can almost see our girl getting to go home this time, safe and happy and surrounded by her newfound misfit family, free of the crippling loneliness that’s haunted her entire life.
But to be honest?
All I can see is a better mouse trap.

I finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Long story short, I loved it!! So much!! And there’s alot I wanna rant about so here we are. A review of sorts?? Major spoilers ahead!
And if y’all think you’re immune to spoilers because you played the original FF7, YOU ARE NOT. Lots of new stuff here....just warning y’all.
Although! I did find this great looking walkthrough playlist if anyone’s interested and can’t play the thing themselves? Idk how complete it is with the details, but from a glance it looks nice!
- FIRST OF ALL the music in it all is amazing!!! From the menu song all throughout, I got Emotional. All the rehashings of Aerith’s theme?? Tifa’s theme?? The FF7 main theme here are there?? AMAZING!!!! I need to find a tracklist or something there are so many versions of the songs specific to the scenes they played in and I die??? Man it is Good.
- On the music front, I really enjoyed the Jukebox feature! So they could add in old classic songs that story-wise couldn’t appear yet...good nostalgia there.
- Lil disclaimer, I played the original FF7 fairly recently, on Steam. HOWEVER. I played Crisis Core years ago, and watched Advent Children, etc. And Final Fantasy music has been a staple homework playlist for me for ages now.... So yes I’m new to the whole FF7 original story. But not new in how most people are...it’s a weird situation lol. Like I knew the general FF7 story for awhile but just recently filled the details....
- The gameplay is awesome!! I wasn’t great at it, but...tbh it felt like mechanics combo of the original FF7, FF15, annnnd Kingdom Hearts :D Also appreciated it PAUSED when you picked out commands lol. Loved upgrading weapons. Loved working with materia. I wish there were like...ways to save a materia set so you could easily switch over when your characters were switched out though X’’’’D
- Biggs is Aro/Ace
- Cloud is VERY Aro/Ace
- Tifa might be Ace
- I decided long ago (in my Crisis Core phase) that Sephiroth is Aro/Ace. There’s nothing to “prove it” in this game but I’m holding to it. I have claimed these characters askjdhuiwdhguerhgr
- Side note, slightly related, but I love how the relationships shone in this remake?? Lots of casual, comfortable touch with Tifa and Cloud (in which Cloud seems in general pretty touch averse due likely to Trauma) in a “we’ve known each other our whole lives” way and gosh I love them. Aerith with Cloud is adorable. Barret!!! Was characterized SO WELL here, and I love him way more than I ever did!! Barret and Tifa interactions as well were so heartfelt and wonderful aaaaaa how good
- Like...Barret haaaates Cloud in the beginning. But somewhere along the way he adopts Cloud instead and ain’t that fantastic?? He just can’t contain how much he cares about others and especially his daughter and goSH I love him.
- Aerith!! I love her!! She gave such a vibe that she knows more than she says, but is still so cute and sweet and sassy I LOVE!!!! Also that scene in the train graveyard with baby Aerith ;;~;;
- Also
Cloud: You need any help??
Aerith, climbing a ladder: I’m fine. You don’t need to treat me like a princess or anything~~~
*ladder breaks*
Aerith, completely serious: s h * t.
I LAUGH
- Cloud was actually really cute with kids!!!!!
- I think I saw a post where they talked about how much more consistent characterizations were here?? I have to agree. I feel some stuff was lost in translation while playing FF7 original, and it felt alot more put together, character-wise, here. I feel like some of that was learned from FF15 and its success with character relationships?? It was Good.
_ I rambled about this before, but Wall Market was every bit as embarrassing as you would think. *covers face*
- Also I thought it was interesting how they handled who was in your party when! A little annoying sometimes though, switching materia around!!! DX I also really wanted to actually PLAY Red XIII/Nanaki....but sure make him an NPC, whatever. (I am grateful he healed me often.)
- *me when Nanaki shows up* AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! THERE HE IS!!!!!!! (sidenote, in the original, I didn’t wanna call him by his experiment name. He’s the only character I changed the name of. The name I picked? Ignis. :”D )
- The motorcycle segments were ANNOYING AS HECK, especially that last one in escaping the Shinra building DX The game forced your camera to focus on the boss and that made the controls VERY ANNOYING. Cool to watch tho.
- I actually almost completed the game boss fight chain early last night!! But RIGHT when I got to Sephiroth, the family demanded I get off the TV for their use D: all that progress....I had to redo ALOT. DX
- STILL the fights were VERY cool! Reminded me of KHII end alot actually, jumping around on broken floating buildings and whatnot?? Also the creature looked like a HUGE DARKSIDE heartless lol
- There’s actually alot in this remake that gives alot of a KH feel to me?? Nomura I see you....
- *screeching the One Winged Angel theme still not knowing the words*
- I LOVED how they showed scenes of the future in the end?? Probably ripped from Advent Children, but?? The characters actually seeing that?? Going “this CAN’T be our future!!” Yo. Also it’s implied it might not HAPPEN now going against destiny and all. I know alot of people are pissed but I am EXCITED. I’m all for a fix-it fic game thank YOU.
- Speaking of fix-it: ZACK. ZAAAAAACK!!!!!! It’s implied he’s alive in one reality so WHERE IS HE??????? I’m so curious about this new story. I’m gonna eat up theories. I want!! To see!! My baby boy!!!!!! to be Fair (haha) I spoiled myself knowing he was in the game but I didn’t know WHEN!!!
- This is terrible, but I love how much they expressed how NOT OK Cloud is. His mental state is awful, but boi won’t talk about it.
- Like I know it’s in the original, but it comes up ALOT more in the remake, and the flashbacks/brain short out moments are more obvious in HD for sure. Plus Cloud’s eyes seem more green there, which is a great touch!! Also the incredible FORESHADOWING it brought. Love it. Please someone help this idiot with his headaches....
- I did get annoyed with the whole scene in Hojo’s lab. Cloud’s walking like a zombie toward where Jenova is, saying CONCERNING things, and NO ONE reaches out until he outright collapses? We all just gonna stand back and watch?? Sure ok.
- Hojo is absolutely disgusting and horrifying and exactly how I imagined him, creators did great job.
- Also why does no one use curaga in these character death scenes???? Potion? Anything????Hello??????
- I was so relieved Wedge (and one of his 3 cats) got to live, and then devastated when they chucked him out a window last minute ;;A;; still. I didn’t see a body. Maybe he’s ok.....*sobs*
- I WAS NOT EXPECTING BIGGS TO BE SEEN IN RECOVERY THO YEEEEESSSSS (I love ANY sign that they DID manage to change the future a little...I thought he was dead!!) Fun fact! The one part I legitimately started crying was when Biggs “died”! Hhhhhhhhhh
- Those dang dementors huh? X’’’D Whispers of fate...there to make sure the story goes according to the original game basically. Does that make the whispers the purist fans of FF7? ...please don’t kill me for that comment sidfiushguigerha
- I just wanna say making a game ABOUT making a remake (that is different from the original) and the struggles in that is VERY meta and so clever and delightful and I LOVE IT. I really wanna see what happens next....
All in all I spent 52 hours on this game. WAY more than I expected for only covering Midgar. And I ENJOYED it!! Some parts felt like the story was being dragged/padded, but most of the time I didn’t care. Also there’s even more to do?? Apparently I missed some scenes....I don’t have time for now, but maybe someday. Or maybe I’ll just look them up ;;7;;
It’s a good game y’all!!

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 1 - Avalanche, Flower Girl & Childhood Friend (CH 1-8)
Tumblr media
The long awaited remake!! Jessie is sooo pretty btw, I love it! I’ve always liked Jessie since the original because of how nice she was to Cloud, so it’s nice to see that they put so much effort into her looks. Biggs looks pretty cool too, but he’s such a silly guy haha. Most of the first chapter was pretty much like the demo so nothing much to say about it besides that I like the Japanese dub much more than the English haha. Btw, I’m playing on normal mode~ Barret is so aggressive and a bit annoying now that you can hear him though LOL. I have to say though, the camera is soo annoying in this game lol, it frustrates me so much. And the boss in the reactor has so much life, it was a tiring battle lol. Otherwise, great nostalgia! I still remember so well in the original when Jessie gets her leg stuck and you have to free her~ In the original, you kinda had to go to her to yourself, whereas in this remake, they force you into the scene of freeing her which is good!! Because lmao, I legit didn’t realise she was stuck in the original game and totally ignored her and went back up the elevator, and what happened?! I was stuck and couldn’t get out of the reactor without her, and I couldn’t go back to save her because it didn’t let me backtrack!! So yes, nice memories, I felt so bad though, I legit left her there to die LOL. Anyway, despite Heidegger and them contributing to the destruction of the sector, it is true that it was because of Avalanche’s actions that made all these people die or get injured, since Heidegger probably wants to pin on them how much of a terrorist they are to the masses.
Tumblr media
Sephiroth appearing is so awkward btw, but I think what irks me is that the menacing part of him isn’t shown very well. Doesn’t help that Those Chosen By the Planet (what I think to be Sephiroth’s theme) doesn’t have the same threatening feel to it imo. Aww I felt like the train scene with Barret shooing off the Shinra people was done more seriously than the original, and I feel like it also shows how rash and sometimes naive the Avalanche group is. I felt like the scene was funnier in the original because Barret was being aggressive and scared them away lol. Anyway, not sure what those things flying around Aerith are (dementorssss!), but nice flower lol. I found it sooo cuteee how Cloud so naturally gave the flower to Tifa though, like dang, my heart swooned! Tifa is so beautiful btw~ Interesting that she rented a room for Cloud, guess it was unnecessary in the original since you’re running around everywhere already, whereas in the remake, Cloud is going to be earning money joining the neighbourhood watch (killing monsters) and doing odd jobs haha. Honestly though, seeing Barret dote on Marlene was so sweet, I always found it heartwarming how much he loved and cherished her. Lmao when she ran away from Cloud since he was a “stranger” lol. Nice to see all these different materia though, looks like it’ll be fun to try them!
Tumblr media
Okay, the side quests were pretty useless but I guess it helped to gain experience and get me used to the combat system a bit more. Honestly though, playing as Tifa is much more fun than Cloud haha. Doesn’t help that Tifa is such a cute beauty~ Am I the only weirdo taking non-stop screenshots of her because she looks so good in every angle? LOL. When Tifa asked what kind of clothing suits her best, I wasn’t really sure, but I guess I would like to see something mature haha. I can see why Tifa would have doubts about what Avalanche is doing though. I mean, sure she agrees with their ideals and goals, but the way they’re doing it isn’t exactly the “best” way to do it since it involves a lot of casualties. So, I’m kinda glad that Cloud kinda advised her in his own way that she should really follow her heart and to not do it if she isn’t able to. Oh and that darts game at Seventh Heaven? Yeah, I sucked at it LOL. Anyway! Jessie feeling bad about the bomb she made causing such unprecedented destruction on the city is understandable, so going to grab a weaker reagent is something she’d do. Nice that she got Cloud to come along with her, but it was also pretty cute that Biggs and Wedge kinda knew what she was up to. Didn’t think about the idea of the Avalanche members having families, so knowing that Jessie seems to have a warm family that would turn on the light every night waiting for her to come home is kinda sweet yet saddening. On the other hand, that motorcycle chase lmao, I was so terrible at it, I legit nearly died hahaaha. Roche was a crazy guy man, it felt so difficult to catch up to him and deal some damage lol. Like how does he do all these crazy stuff with the motorcycle?! Honestly, it makes me think of a motorcycle version of SSX (that snowboarding game where you do tricks) because, I’m surprised he and his bike are intact lol.  Although, in a sense, it did seem easier than the original game though, I mean, I used to legit miss the targets reallyyyyyy badly in the original hahahah. But yeah, it was nice to have that mini game I guess, I just didn’t expect it right now lol. BUT, the highlight of the motorcycle chase here was definitely Jessie hugging Cloud from behind on the motorcycle and feeling so comfortable and safe with him around. I honestly felt it, but then again, who wouldn’t feel safe with Cloud?! He’s so reliable and cool!
Tumblr media
Honestly, I never would have thought Jessie would be an actress at the Gold Saucer! That’s an interesting back story. Kinda saddening though, that when she finally got a starring role, her dad collapsed in a Mako storage (since he was a maintenance supervisor for Shinra) for half a day and got Mako poisoning, so now he’s in a comatose state. I guess it’s understandable how one thing led to another for Jessie to join Avalanche, but I feel devastated for the mother. It’s a tough life but there’s still the hope and happiness of seeing Jessie return home when she can, but…that’s not going to happen forever.. Well, well, that diversion Cloud had to do alongside Biggs and Wedge was not fun! But it was cool to see Ifrit haha. Honestly think the highlight was seeing Cloud warm up to Biggs and Wedge after this little mission, not only did he get to see that Wedge is willing to put his life on the line for Cloud even though they just hired him for these missions, he also got to see how passionate they are about their reasons for being in Avalanche. They really should count themselves lucky that another sub group of Avalanche was there to bail them out though! Anyway, Cloud smiling was so cute. Lmao when Wedge called Cloud “aniki” after the mission hahahah, it’s so adorable. I love how Cloud tells Wedge not to call him that every time he does it hahaha. And it was so cuteee when Cloud quietly said he hopes Jessie’s dad will get better soon, he cares!! It’s so sweet!
Tumblr media
Oh, btw LOL at the random grandma that noticed all the commotion from Cloud/Avalanche and thought it was Wutai attacking Shinra again, so she said she’d join in since she used to fight against them when she was young loll, chill grandma!! It’s quite cute how Biggs and Wedge can tell that Jessie is interested in Cloud, so sweet how they look out for Cloud instead and say she’s not serious though hahaha. Omggg, Jessie giving him a hug as extra payment for helping out on the mission was so cuteeee, I love her. She’s so forward and honest, but so cuteee. I loved how she said she’d make pizza for him. Biggs overthinking was really adorable, but Cloud telling him to prioritise resting up for tomorrow was nice to see. He has such a soft spot for them all now, it’s so heartwarming. It was so considerate and kind of Cloud to offer to listen to Tifa’s worries, I loved how casually he said it.
Tumblr media
No idea what those spectres are, but OMG!! CLOUD PRINCESS CARRYING JESSIE?! Yes, my heart squealed🥺🥺🥺 That Shinra Middle Manager guy on the train is so passionate and loyal to them, it’s pretty admirable tbh. He’s obviously scared of Barret but he’s unafraid to voice his opinions and views to him, Shinra sure has passionate workers. I loved the jumping out of the train part!! Cloud held Tifa close and protected her🥰 On the other hand, I really didn’t need the corny part where the Shinra Middle Manager was shocked that Barret and them would protect the others on the train though, I think if we just see him being impressed and kinda acknowledging them, it would have been fine lol. Anyway, is it just me or are the normal monsters harder than the bosses?! Like seriously lol! Or maybe I’m just too reckless tbh because I legit just roll around and attack hahahah. Yes, that’s how I roll. Oh btw, I forgot to say, but I’m kinda sad that we never got to go downstairs at Seventh Heaven!! That’s like my favourite part! I loved the interactions between everyone at Avalanche there, oh well I guess… We kinda got the interactions through Jessie’s story instead I guess.
Tumblr media
Going through Sector 5 was legit tedious lol, but it was cool to see holograms of the President and Heidegger, and the boss!! I’m not sure if I really weakened the boss by taking away the right stuff, but I just kinda took all the big bombs and some programming cores and it was relatively easy. Btw cowboy Tifa is adorableee! Aerith and Cloud reuniting at the church and squashing his flowers wasn’t as magical as it felt in the original imo (even though it was HD T_T). And I also feel like Aerith was more cooler in the original in my memory haha. Reno definitely looks better as a bunch of pixels than in HD LOL, I’m sorry Reno, you’re my favourite boy ever in FFVII but I hate his close up look here hahaha. Although I think it’s mainly because his open shirt look is very...ugly LOL. Make him cool not tacky! The Turks theme wasn’t as clicky sounding(?) as well so I think it kinda lost how cool the soundtrack was imo, but oh well~ And dang, I legit found the battle so difficult with him hahahah, I probably should have used more magic etc to deal with him but far out, his lightning attacks lol. I’m kinda sad they kicked out rolling the barrels to save Aerith from the Shinra soldiers though, I used to just let Aerith fight them, and I think it would have been cool if they let Aerith fight them, since it kinda showed that even though Aerith is physically weak, she’s still got a lot of guts and resolve to fight against people stronger than her imo. Instead, we get that stupid chandelier thing and the hand bars that had superrr clunky controls, it wasn’t fun at all!
Tumblr media
Cloud and Aerith talking and bonding throughout their little trip on the rooftops to escape was cute, I love how she answered that the Turks might have been after her because she would be a great SOLDIER candidate (since the work Turks does includes scouting for SOLDIER) hahaha. The princess carry Cloud did to catch Aerith when she fell was cute, but it was done so purposefully that I couldn’t like it as much as I wanted, Jessie’s one was much more natural and sweet. But it’s Aerith so I’ll take it, because dang is it beautiful~~ I wish they showed how Aerith was trying really hard to catch up to Cloud and was like out of breath by the time they got to the sector lol, I found that cute in the original. Anyway, I also miss Aerith using her staff to smack monsters, the sound was so iconic lmao. I guess it’s understandable that they changed her skillset to be shooting magic out of her staff but still🥺 Rude on the other hand looks pretty cool! I wonder if they’ll mention how he likes Tifa and they’ll add it into the battles so that he won’t attack her hahaha. Oh yeah, forgot to mention it, but did Cloud see Aerith die in those visions he had? Not sure if I’m into how it’s all going right now, but hmm kinda weird.
Tumblr media
Elmyra doesn’t look as gentle as she did in the original, kinda sad~~ But I still think it’s hilarious how pushy Aerith is and how much she does things at her own pace lol. I hope we get to do the tiptoe thing at night like in the original where Cloud tries to run off in the middle of the night when she forces him to stay at her house for the night haahha. Shiva was pretty easy! I’m proud of myself hehe! Legit just Fira her to death until I could summon etc hahaha. Not sure how I feel about that intern being able to make summon materia though, I always felt like summons were spirits of nature that you kinda make a contract with, so artificially creating them feels weird. I honestly feel like more effort was put into Tifa than Aerith when it comes to the expressions and their faces imo. I always imagined Aerith to look very energetic, happy and kind, but in a lot of the scenes, her face looks very stern and you can’t see the kindness in her eyes, whereas with Tifa, there’s lots of details in every expression she makes. Sigh, it’s pretty saddening since Aerith is my favourite girl… Btw lmao at the Leaf House drawings of the cactuar, tonberry, chocobo and moogle hahaha, so cute but ugly lmaoo. Hahahaha there’s such a thing as fat Chocobo candy🤣🤣🤣 Moggie is weirdddd looking lol, did not expect that. Whack-a-box was a pretty boring game tbh, Gunners Gauntlet in FFX-2 is way better imo. Maybe there might be more stages later? I do appreciate how easy it was to get 30,000 points though haha, I’m still salty over the jump rope in FFIX lmao, no way could I ever do more than 50 of those jumps hahaha. Okay, don’t judge me, but I farmed moogle medals with the game by leaving it on while I played other games on my phone lmao. Man, those side quests were difficult to do with Aerith, I really hate her skillset right now lolll. I guess that’s normal though? Since, in the original, I found this part really difficult at times because she was so weak lmaoo. The fight with Rude was much easier than with Reno though! Maybe it’s because Aerith was there just to heal me hahaha. Anyway, I really like how careful and protective Rude and Reno are with Aerith. I feel like you can feel that a lot of it is related to their work as the Turks, but at the same time, they honestly feel that Aerith should take care of herself better by not running around so much lol. Btw lmao at Cloud carrying that flower basket hahaha. When Aerith was talking to the flowers and saying that they don’t respond to her no matter how much she talks to them, I found it really cute that before they left, Cloud asked to the flowers to respond to her some time since she’s so sincere haha. Cloud is such a big softie, it’s adorable. Just saying, but Aerith running up the stairs to clean the guest room for Cloud was so cute, I’m dying. Cloud’s mum looks pretty! Lmao, the tiptoeing out of the house is actually hilarious. I just took one step and hit a bucket and it made the loudest noise ever hahahaah, of course Aerith could hear! Lmao, I failed twice and they removed the buckets so you don’t need to dodge anything hahahha. I’m sorry I suck okay?! Although I always found it hilarious in the original that you can actually see Aerith jump out of bed and run super fast to push you back into your room hahaha.  I’ve always loved how Aerith pops out and surprises Cloud that she noticed him leaving without her. Does Cloud’s tears mean subconsciously he remembers her death? Is this FFVII 2.0? A sequel? Are we reliving FFVII alternate universe so we can save Aerith this time?
Tumblr media
Overall, the remake has been relatively fun so far. The camera is rather clunky at times but it’s okay I guess. The story is pretty linear and won’t let me walk around and explore unless it wants me to though, I swear that warning sign is so obnoxious I want to punch it! So yeah, it can be rather frustrating when I’m looking for treasure chests, like I’m constantly being called out for going to the wrong way hahaha. Let me live my life, guys! Everything looks great and I really enjoyed the extra bits with Jessie tbh, I think that was my highlight for these 8 chapters haha. I hope everything will continue to be as beautiful and interesting. I’m not a fan of the soundtrack though, it feels a little too electric? Techno? I don’t know how to describe it but it feels weird haha. Also weird to see/hear different theme songs and stuff at vending machines, because it just..doesn’t suit the atmosphere lol, anyway I’m just picky, it’s still cool. I really like Jessie’s Theme though!
But yeah, I really loved that the remake added the part where they go to back to Jessie’s home etc. I found it really sweet and comforting to see that Jessie had a family, and that Biggs and Wedge got along with her mother so well. I think the extra bonding and interactions between Avalanche and Cloud will really make the lost of them that more painful and dramatic. I think some people think Jessie seems too “thirsty”, but I think she’s great because of how forward she is, and how subtle but also honest she is about her feelings. She’s never completely direct about it, but she’s obviously attracted to Cloud and I think it’s really cute, mainly because she can see how cold he may be on the surface, but also how soft he is on the inside. I think my favourite moment with her was when she hugged Cloud on the motorbike so comfortably, it honestly felt like (from her perspective) that she found someone she could really rely on and believe in when she’s in trouble and I thought that was really heartwarming. Otherwise, wow, the shipping with Cloud and the girls is SO STRONG, I’m starting to think it’s a visual novel where I can pick the girl I like lmao. Honestly though, you can tell how much it’s catering to older fans who love the girls. The fanservice is blatant! But it makes for great screenshots so yay~! But seriously, the dementors and Sephiroth appear too much, it’s frustrating, especially the ghosts/spectres.

“Kingdom Hearts II” revisited, Part V
Having only ever played XIII out of the Final Fantasy series, I only know characters like Cloud, Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith through their roles in Kingdom Hearts. In that capacity, I like them quite a bit, and I was upset along with all the FF fans that they were left out of KH III, for spurious reasons. “We didn’t need them because we have original characters to fill those roles” basically amounted to handing off the job of exposition dumps to Ienzo, as if it were simply a matter of trading out corporate spokesmen. From KH I to II, Leon, Yuffie, Sid, Merlin, and Aerith establish themselves as a group, each with a distinct personality, notable interplay among themselves, and each with a unique relationship to Sora and friends. Cloud, on his own, did the same. To toss them aside in favor of a character with no personality, and no connection to Sora, makes the exposition dumps in KH III far more tedious to get through, not helped by the fact that the exposition itself is so much more ridiculous by then. The character dynamics lost are hardly worth the promotion of one unremarkable figure just on account of his being “original.”
But KH II has the opposite problem with its FF guest stars: at a pivotal moment in the story, an excessive number of cameos make unavoidable appearances, creating a painful drag on the pace of the game and distracting from the main story just when major events get underway.
This is unfortunately evident as soon as Sora arrives back in Hollow Bastion after his first pass at the Disney worlds and runs into Cloud. I have absolutely no objection to Cloud being included in this game, and I love that he’s in Hollow Bastion with the others. But Cloud’s history with Sephiroth - and with Aerith, and with Tifa - have nothing to do with the main KH II story, and when the game is building toward King Mickey’s reintroduction, the twist with Ansem, and a shift in power among the villains, being forced to take time out for cutscenes teasing conflicts and relationships from a different series is most unwelcome. The scenes of Tifa rifling through the castle are, if anything, even more of a distraction - one could at least argue that Cloud’s conversation with Aerith has some thematic connection to Sora and Kairi, and that his relationship to Sephiroth has some thematic relevance to Riku and “Ansem.”
A far better reintroduction for Cloud, and a first introduction for Tifa, would have been to have them with the others when Sora first comes to Hollow Bastion. Cloud could be aloof, if that was desired, and Sora could have been surprised to see him there. Tifa could have been introduced as another member of the Restoration Committee, with a line from Aerith or Yuffie or somebody about how “it’s not just us, y’know.” Their first appearances would thus have come at an appropriate moment in the game, and they would have already been established as part of the Hollow Bastion world before Sora returns after completing the first pass at the Disney worlds. If Sephiroth, Tifa’s desire for Cloud, and Aerith’s relationship with him were all things the staff dearly wanted in the game, that all could have come in the form of completely optional material unlocked after the big Heartless battle, just the way that Sephiroth was an optional fight in KH I. There was no reason to make this material mandatory.
Worst of all are the appearances by the Gullwings. My understanding is that Final Fantasy X-2 is a controversial title in the series, and all I know of it comes from this game and a comedic “review,” but I can still wholly understand if any fan of that game had a problem with their cameo here. Besides the pixie makeover, they are, more than any other FF characters, completely irrelevant to what’s going on. A gift of a Keyblade after the fact does not a justification make, and I really can’t believe that they were included, just for the sake of Nomura’s notion of doing “not human yet human” versions of the characters.
(I hate to say this, but Stitch’s introduction is pretty appalling too. He’s just there, no rhyme or reason, and there’s no relationship established between him and any other character before he jumps down. At the very least, Merlin could’ve introduced him a “a stray I picked up along my travels” or something.)
But, I’ve gotten ahead of myself - and while this issue is a substantial one, it’s my only major gripe with this middle portion of the game. There’s a medium-sized one as well...but we’ll get to that.
Since I tend to play “in character” as Sora, I can sometimes find myself reacting to certain things in unusual ways. In the case of the first return to Twilight Town, I started to get excited at the thought of seeing Kairi again even as I knew how the story plays out, which makes me very grateful that I was alone at home while playing the game. Kairi’s brief interaction with the Twilight Town trio is nice, though having been introduced to the KH II manga, it’s hard to watch her being taken by Axel and not wish she showed the sort of fight she puts up in that adaptation.
Twilight Town is also the first time in quite a while that signs of Roxas appear, as he asserts himself from within Sora with the blue stone. At first, I found this moment a little jarring - Sora has just been learned that Kairi was kidnapped, after all - but given that it’s a moment for Roxas to briefly take control, I made peace with it.
Out of all the Disney titles used for Kingdom Hearts worlds, Tron is the one I have the least amount of experience with; I’ve only seen it once, I didn’t care for it very much, and I never bothered with the sequel. Here in KH II, the level is fun and colorful, it isn’t too stiff a recap of the movie from what I remember, and it represents a clever way to tie Disney material in with the original elements of the KH universe. Though I do wonder if Tron was only selected as a world because it offered Nomura and company a platform to indulge in nonsensical techno-speak dialogue.
Tron is also the catalyst for that medium-sized complaint I mentioned before: I see no good reason why Sora’s talk with King Mickey about Ansem had to wait until after Sora goes back into Space Paranoids. There’s no clear ticking clock demanding that he go back right away, and all this does is undercut the reunion with King Mickey and the sense of revelation in the air over the true identity of “Ansem.” When we do finally arrive at that moment, however...it’s not bad. It has to be admitted that there is no real set-up for this twist. You can’t even go back to KH I and find lines equivalent to “there’s too much of his father in him” in Star Wars to retroactively make into foreshadowing. Nothing from KH I, or CoM, is negated by the revelation that “Ansem,” Seeker of Darkness was really Xehanort the apprentice, however. For a twist that exists just for the sake of having one, it’s innocuous, and well-placed within the narrative to give an appropriate jolt to the proceedings. Certainly it’s better-handled, and more benign conceptually, than later “twists” in the series.
This leads us into the long battle with the Heartless, and there’s a lot to recommend this whole sequence. As clumsy as Cloud’s reintroduction was in this game, the moment of him and Leon fighting back-to-back was fantastic; I imagine that scene is an even bigger thrill fro FF fans. What’s more, it’s appropriately placed to be both cool and relevant. The run down the hill that sees Sora fighting alongside one FF character after another is just as delightful. I’d completely forgotten about this part of the game, so it was a pleasant surprise...and a painful reminder at the lack of effort put into giving the other Keyblade wielders some time with Sora in KH III. I will note, however, that Aerith’s absence from the line-up in this run is a problem, and that by rights Merlin should be there too.
The villain material in this section isn’t bad, though it would have been more powerful if their respective plots hadn’t been in such a long lull in the back half of the Disney worlds. Maleficent battling the Nobodies, and ultimately confronting Saix to buy Sora time, is a wonderful idea, and helps to illustrate her story as one of a long and ultimately fruitless climb back towards the top of the villain totem pole, but a larger presence for her in some of those Disney worlds would’ve helped build to that more. Some appearances by the Organization would’ve done the same for the battle with Demyx. It’s not a bad fight, for the first serious boss battle with a member. The shorter time trials got pretty aggravating, though.
There are also some character beats in this section that are on the whole nice additions, if imperfect in execution. Sora being conflicted over whether to help Leon like he promised or to go search for Kairi and Riku is fine - it’s a conflict Sora’s faced, in various guises and degrees, since the beginning of the series, and he’s well-established at this point in the story as someone who goes where the greatest need is over his own desires. But the scene is just a little overdone. I’d say the same about Goofy’s fake-out death, which is cleared up just a little too soon. On the other hand, it’s in the midst of all that that the 1000 Heartless fight takes place, and that’s just as much fun as I remember.
(While I’m on this section of the game, I want to air a nitpick with the gameplay that pops up before, during, and after this section. What is the point of these “runs” where you take about two seconds’ worth of steps after one cutscene just to trigger another? Just go straight to the next scene!)
This section also reveals that Kairi managed to get away from Axel. As an idea, that’s fine. But why isn’t it a scene? Give me one reason why that wasn’t a serious enough story beat to warrant a cutscene. Of course I’m advocating for more material for Kairi, but - and I can’t believe I’m saying this - such a cutscene might have even given Axel some development. I’ll be talking more about the additions to Final Mix in a later post, but the fact that a long-ass walk down hallways was a priority over expanding on this plot point tells you something about the warped priorities the creative team developed in the years after KH II’s release.
We leave this section of the story with Sora, Donald, and Goofy on the retreat, guided out of darkness by Riku and guided by the Keyblade to some unknown destination. But when that lane opens, Sora declares “not yet! I have to look for Kairi!” thus setting up the second pass at the Disney worlds. How often in this series does Sora voice an urge to follow his own desires over the call of duty? I thought it was an impressive moment for his character.
EDIT: corrections made (thank you @khtrinityftw.)

heyyyy kit talk to me abt zack’s hesitations or lack thereof when it comes to killing ppl for soldier or otherwise. i feel like all the hesitation i notice comes from him taking time to process how exactly the commands given to him are supposed to go, or like,,, what he’s supposed to accomplish besides Killing The Thing, but i wanna know your thoughts coz ily
@backwaterheroics
first things first hi rowen ily lots and i hope ur havin a great day.
SECOND THINGS SECOND, it took me forever to word this ramble because it’s honestly just a big formless ramble but im gonna do my best to Share These Thoughts.
ZACK & HESITATION TO FOLLOW ORDERS: A SAGA
if we start at the very beginning, zack’s first ingame mission initially acts like a true mission but resolves into a simulation. nevertheless, we do see the first hint of zack going ‘wait what, why do i have to do this’ and i like that we’re immediately shown that he’ll question shit he thinks isn’t right. he’s quick to notice that the troops he’s fighting are shinra troops and wants to know why they’re attacking him ( and it’s a lovely lil foreshadowing for Later In The Game ). angeal immediately tells him it’s fine, these are wutai troops disguised as shinra soldiers, and zack’s misgivings appear to dissolve. at this point in time, he is a fourteen-year-old second class soldier and things are really quite simple in his mind: shinra good — shinra road to heroics! wutai enemy, wutai bad.
i do wanna note here that he doesn’t completely regard wutai as,,, yknow, evil or The Enemy, but it’s more that he. believes the shinra line about how they’re taking over this place to help them. shinra vc it’s fine guys, we’re just gonna rob this place and probably try to eradicate its culture but it’s To Help THem, we’re gonna give em resources and a mako plant or somethin! ( point is, zack thinks…. he thinks he’s Doing Right here. and that’s important. so long as he’s convinced he’s doing the right thing, he’ll stop questioning. )
note that he’s a ton happier to fight the behemoth toward the end of that mission. fighting monsters is so much less morally questionable. a lot of his early missions tend to end this way, with a nice big monster for him to take out so he doesn’t need to wonder if it’s right.
that leads us nicely to wutai and zack’s first mission with angeal. at this point, he’s buzzing. he’s just been suggested as a first class soldier. angeal’s with him. he finally gets to fight. he wants to impress lazard. he’s ready to kill without question here and it genuinely is a touch terrifying how eager he is.
the wutai mission has that fun mechanic where you actually score higher the more enemies you choose to kill. there’s the option to walk away from them, to sneak through the fortress, but you get more points — more shinra prestige — for causing carnage. zack does not question this. he causes the carnage.
except with yufi. she’s… she’s a kid ready to defend her home from him. i honestly wanted the game to give him a bigger reaction to that — my iteration of zack is certainly far more affected by this child, this self-professed hero, whose home is being invaded and who considers him the bad guy. he plays along, pretends to be beaten, but it’s the emotional impact that floors him, that makes him think ‘is this right and should i be questioning what i’m doing’. what is he accomplishing here, other than being part of destroying this kid’s people? it’s a scene that’s played lightly but is shockingly heartbreaking.
he still does his part though.
the scary thing is, if the whole angeal-genesis-sephiroth mess hadn’t happened, he might’ve continued that way. they’re the ones that make him begin to question — he hesitates initially to fight genesis’ soldiers because they’re shinra soldiers, they used to be allies — he fights them because they’re traitors and because he’s given reason to slot genesis nicely into the Villain portion of his brain and decide that means he’s in the wrong.
i like to think zack’s declining faith in shinra has a direct correlation to how often he hesitates to follow commands. when it was angeal giving the orders, he was following someone he had trust and faith in. without that, the whole thing begins to feel empty and zack ( again, particularly my version ) is a fucking storm of a person who follows his own damn rules and his own beliefs.
zack lives for battle but he hesitates to take lives meaninglessly. he likes to consider his fights heroic, so long as he can convince himself he’s killing people to save other people.
he actively Does Not Want to kill either genesis or angeal when ordered to. even with genesis, who’s killed people and is clearly going down a very dark path, zack hesitates. he’s just … like you said, processing. he wants to understand why this can’t be resolved without death — why there isn’t a better way. he fights only when it’s made plain to him that there’s no working around this. he’s told ‘kill’ and he’s like ‘okay but why’. ‘what exactly do you want me to do’. ‘w h y’. during genesis’ first supposed ‘death’, zack’s devastated. he didn’t want this. ( he actively makes damn sure genesis survives the next time. )
with angeal, he disobeys direct orders to kill. this is a breaking point of sorts for him, during which it becomes horribly plain to him that he is one of the few people here trying to avoid all this death. trying his damn hardest to reject those orders to kill angeal, only to do it anyway, results in a strange sort of shutdown in him. he doesn’t question anything for a while. fights because he’s told to. kills genesis copies. loses himself a little. he’s willing to kill hollander, where before his mind was set more on ‘capture and make him sort this shit out’.
he says it himself: i’m soldier, so fighting’s all i do. he sounds scathing about it. disgusted with himself. he knows he’s a weapon to shinra and he’s letting himself be used, letting himself stop thinking because it’s easy to just follow commands and hope it all works out, because trying to do the right thing only wound up causing angeal’s death anyway.
zack’s very much a person who wants to do right but gets a little confused along the way about what that is. a lot of his wariness in blindly following orders very much comes from his own strong moral compass, and the way the various influences around him seem to affect it.
i dont know if this is a good ramble or if it just turned into me crying about zack again but there are my thoughts. my badly organised thoughts. aksdfjxngk.

My choices for the final Smash character. (And other general stuff)
Well, figured I would post something. My OOT Zelda post is taking a bit and admittedly I’ve just been wrapped up in other things. I’ve made a lot of progress with playing through the games on my list, having only three games for stages left before I’ve done all the ones I had in place for them. The thing is, two of those are somewhat long games and the other is Minecraft which I’ve just been casually playing alongside everything else for a while now. The Direct yesterday had a lot of pleasant surprises, especially for me with games like Dr Mario 64 and of course Banjo finally being available on a Nintendo console again (would have loved to be able to buy it but I guess I’m glad it’s on there at all...) Not to mention Castlevania Collection (which will come in handy in not too long on my list.)
With the reveal that the final Smash character will be shown in detail on the 5th of October, it’s given me a drive to try and finish the last three games on the stages portion of my list, Minecraft, Final Fantasy 7 (which I beat before but it was on Steam on PC and I lost my save data so I’ve been playing the Switch version again.) and finally Three Houses. Since I want to be in a position by the 5th where I can play through (granted depending on who it is) the game/s related to the final character, I’ve decided for my current playthrough of Three Houses to stop it at a specific point (without spoilers let’s just say the halfway point) along with playing the DLC for the first time. I will come back to it for the next section on my list which are the background and stage hazard characters, with the second half representing the various Three Houses characters who appear in Garreg Mach in the background. My rationale for this is that as I’m playing currently for the stage, it changes a lot in the second half of the game, so therefore that part of the game is better suited to representing the background characters. Call it a copout or whatever you want, I just want to avoid burnout with too many long games at once which has been hitting me a little admittedly. Oh also for context, my first playthrough of the games I went with Blue Lions, this time I’m playing through Black Eagles, I plan to play the other paths when I get to Three Houses for the Spirits part of my list.
So, onto the title of this post. I mentioned in an earlier post plans to talk about what I want/expect for Smash, but seeing as this is confirmed explicitly to be the final update, I thought it was now or never really when it comes down to it. I will admit with this list, I have definite biases, there’s characters I just don’t want (Fortnite Jonesy, Freddy Fazbear), characters I think are fine for base roster but would not bring enough new as the final DLC character to really be justified (and admittedly some I’m just absolutely sick of people saying ‘everyone wants’) such as Waluigi, Skull Kid or Shadow the Hedgehog, and finally, ones I keep seeing people ask for that I just don’t want and don’t feel would fit in Smash (Master Chief, Kratos, Doomguy (I only give him a bit of a pass because of how big DOOM’s legacy is)) I know ‘anything is possible’ and people are always going on about ‘fan rules’ but there are things I think it’s reasonable to think damage a characters chances. I believe if a character’s had a Mii costume added as DLC (eg. Dante), if their game has had a spirit event (Resident Evil) or most importantly to me, they’re an assist trophy, it means Sakurai’s team considered the possibility of adding them and decided not to, representing them in another way. Mii Cosumes I think it only applies to the specific characters who have had DLC Mii outfits as we’ve seen with Kazuya getting in after the Heihachi Mii Costume, but if it’s a character who was a Mii costume in the base roster it doesn’t necessarily count them out (Dixie Kong for example). For Spirit events, I don’t believe they’d have done an event if the series was planned to be added with a fighter, there’s not been any cases of that happening so far, such as there not being a Three Houses spirit event. We know spirits in the base game don’t matter like for Min Min and Pyra/Mythra, but I think with the DLC already planned they wouldn’t then do those series for a spirit event. Assist Trophies, I feel whilst people keep saying about there being an option to switch them off when they’re playable, there was probably lot of work put into making them work as Assist Trophies and it was done to represent them in the game, so I just personally don’t believe they’d suddenly go “Oh actually lets add Waluigi as DLC.” Of course, I do have a big bias with this, I like seeing new stuff with the DLC, or for them to bring something new other than just the fighter. Yes Waluigi could bring ‘Mario Sports spirits’ or something but that’s hardly something not in the game already, not to mention it’d be seeing a character who already has a model in the game, there’d be very little new about him imo.
Anyway, now I’ve probably pissed off half of the people who might read this, my personal wants for characters in Smash are first and foremost that they bring an interesting franchise to the series. Simon and Richter were really cool additions, but even bigger to me was how they brought all the Castlevania stuff, a franchise I love which got so much representation with the stage and even a Dracula boss. A second element for me personally, is I like when it’s a character who has a history with Nintendo. Obviously, this isn’t a dealbreaker and I know they’ve done plenty now who have very few links to Nintendo (although, still even now every character in has had at least one small appearance on a Nintendo console beforehand) but part of why Banjo was such a big deal to me was because of just how intertwined with Nintendo he and Rare had been in the past. This has played into my list admittedly a bit. So, with that all said, here’s my top 5 predictions based on what I think it plausible and I would like for Smash.
5. Crash Bandicoot: Simply put, this isn’t one I personally want, just of all the popular suggestions that I think are workable, he’s the one I’d be most ok with. I believe his legacy in gaming is enough that he ‘deserves’ a spot in Smash. I’ve never been particularly interested in his series, but it does seem like it’d be ripe for adding a lot to Smash with a stage, spirits and music etc. Overall, if I don’t get one I want, I guess Crash is the one I’d be most ok with. (to be clear even if it was Master Chief I’d be fine seeing what’s done with him, only Fortnite really would be one I’d not like in any way.)
4. Dixie Kong: I don’t think this is likely at all, it goes against everything I’ve said before almost, as unlike with Sephiroth or Pyra for example there’s not tons of things Dixie could bring with her not already in the game for the DK series. This choice is purely if I got to add my dream character and since the DK franchise is a really huge deal to me, Dixie would be it.
3. Professor Layton: If this was Smash 4, I’d be putting Layton at number 2, his games were a pretty big deal on the DS and he’s got a lot of history with Nintendo, not to mention seeing Sakurai think up a way to make him work would probably turn out really special. The main problem with him nowadays is simply his series has pretty much ended. There’s a spinoff (which I really need to finish someday) but the Layton series was really at its peak on DS and 3DS. In more realistic terms, I’d love to see a Mii Costume of Layton at least, paired with my number 1 choice would make it fit even better.
2. Dr. Eggman: So, growing up during the SEGA vs Nintendo era, honestly, I never ‘picked a side’. I enjoyed both consoles and I liked Sonic just as much as many Nintendo series back then. In my mind, Dr. Eggman is one of the most iconic videogame villains of all time, he has that same quality Bowser has where he can work as the overall antagonist or a side character and not ever really feel out of character. Apart from that though, fighting in his Egg Mobile there’s all sorts of cool things could be done with him, and being a fair bit bigger I think it’d be different to how Bowser Jr works meaning he wouldn’t be redundant. On top of that, Sonic is one of the series in Smash that arguably is somewhat lacking in content, not to the degree of FF7 of course, but there’s a lot that could still be added, with Eggman perhaps bringing various Badnik spirits with him and there being plenty of awesome music from the Sonic series that could be added. Overall, if they were to add a character who wasn’t from an all-new series as the finale, Eggman would be in my opinion the best choice.
1. Phoenix Wright: So, yes I am a huge fan of Ace Attorney, it’s a very important series to me so I’m absolutely biased in this. Whilst I understand why there’s plenty of reasons to doubt this happening, I think the chances are higher than people think. Firstly and probably least importantly, but something that I do personally consider is that the AA series has a long history with Nintendo, starting in Japan on GBA, then on DS, 3DS and now Switch, the series whilst not remaining exclusive has never skipped out on a Nintendo console. When it comes to how iconic the series is, honestly for visual novels, I think it’s the most famous overall. So many times when I see people who don’t really play visual novels talk about them they often say things like “so it’s like Phoenix Wright.” This doesn’t mean of course that these people have actually played the games, but they are easily the most recognisable examples of the genre in my mind. (Maybe Dangan Ronpa would also count, but I don’t hear that referenced as often) Add to that how often people recognise “OBJECTION!” as being a Phoenix Wright reference, even if they barely know the series and I’d say it’s pretty iconic. Next, probably most surprisingly to me, Capcom’s only new character in Smash Ultimate is Ken, an Echo Fighter. Capcom has a long history, a huge list of franchises (in some ways arguably rivalling Nintendo themselves with how many iconic franchises they’ve put out) and have definitely had a lot of involvement with Nintendo over the years (I mean, they’ve been involved in a few Zelda games such as Minish Cap). The thing is, almost all of their biggest franchises that weren’t already in Smash have now been represented in various forms, Resident Evil got a spirit event, Dante infamously got a Mii costume, as has Arthur from Ghouls and Ghosts. Of the most recognisable Capcom franchises not represented at all in Smash from Capcom, I’d say off the top of my head, the only two really remaining are Ace Attorney and Okami. Of those two, AA imo is the one that’s more widely known (not to mention has had a lot more entries etc).
One thing that both supports and goes against his inclusion is that he appeared in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as a fighter. Going for him with that is that it’s been shown he could work in a fighting game before, but against it is therefore it wouldn’t be as surprising to see as it was in that case. I’d argue, due to the nature of Smash as a game, there’s a lot that could be done with Phoenix that couldn’t have been done in UMvC3 (btw, I really enjoyed playing that game). Probably one of the biggest things to me is the stage it could offer. In the Ace Attorney series, the majority of the game shockingly is set in the courtroom, Phoenix Wright being the Defence Attorney (in the original Trilogy, there’s other characters in later games) and there being various Prosecutors he’s faced over the years with the majority of the time the same bald bearded Judge presiding over every trial. The somewhat sedentary nature of the games, where the characters stand in the same spot 99% of the time and cycle through various reaction animations (desk slams, damaged shocked sprites and of course lots of pointing) would be fantastic as a stage. Given how many cameos and things we’ve seen in recent DLC stages, having the courtroom rotate through various prosecutors as well as maybe having Phoenix (when not being played as) appear behind the Defence bench would be something I’d love to see. I realise now I’m going into way more of a ‘moveset ideas’ type thing than I should so I’ll just leave it off with I feel Phoenix would be a really awesome if admittedly controversial choice (with those that wouldn’t have some sort of controversy if they get in becoming a smaller and smaller pool and mostly ones I find personally kinda boring.) and as a final plus would represent a game genre not represented yet overall with visual novels.
So yeah, that’s my personal hopes. I said before, there’s very few characters I’d outright be unhappy with if they got in. I’ve gotten sick of hearing certain choices but either way based on everything so far I trust whoever it is will be done well. I got my wish for Banjo, so anything else now is a bonus. Just as a blog that’s focused on Smash (although, I definitely want to stick to my references and origins of characters lane rather than the whole competitive etc scene...) I wanted to at least put my guesses out there before the final reveal. Looking forward to it.

so…. icha…… how would one go about watching a playthrough of ff7….
oh my god
hi!!! i see it's once again a way i drag you into something 😭😭
Unfortunately there is no *easy* answer so please bear with me before i give some links, and i would understand you not being interested anymore then but, bear with me
Anyway FF7 is a big franchise with multiple games and this is where it can get tricky. Depends where you want to start, but effectively, the plotline of the Original game is the best place to start for the most efficient storytelling.
There is a remake. But recommending it for a first watch is.........
The remake is great and it deepens the characters a lot. Honestly i WOULD recommend you watching it at some point. But not as an intro point because
-The remake is coming out in parts: the current release covered only the 5 first hours of the original game as well as a totally original campaign DLC
-The remake isn't exactly a "remake" but is an alternative timeline. Super confusing i know. I don't want to ruin the fun of discovering it, but the remake is based entirely on "those events already happened - they are stuck reliving it... unless??". Even people who know the saga have NO IDEA where it's going at this point.
-Because of this^ two things fundamentally changed: Sephiroth, who is conscientiously refusing to replaying his part 1:1 as he knows what will happen (and therefore i think newcomers are missing Sephiroth's build up and introduction since Sephiroth isn't even supposed to appear during the OG in those events and pre-game to post-game Sephiroth are so different that jumping immediately to post-game Sephiroth is.. welp.) AND the ending of the game include a key game event that happens ways further in the game and they... undo it???? I have been Confusion ever since. And they don't explain any bits of it, so for newcomers it must just be like "?? okay???". (and for long time player it's "WHAT WHAT WHAT???")
-In general too the game kinda vagues super spoilerly events that happens ways further in the OG... and kind of in a way of "maybe we'll undo them ;)" which has just got us all ???? and meanwhile for newcomers this is kinda spoiling them big parts of the OG out of nowhere?? i know the game has been spoiled to death at this point but still?
The remake is a great concept (i'm just having mixed feelings about where they're going to take it), and i would recommend it but as a first intro it's....... welp.
I have seen people starting with it though and i don't really know how they got through the confusing parts so what do i know DLKJFDLKFJ
SO YEAH MY POINT IS
that for efficient storytelling, you should start with the Original Game.... which is a relatively long game with a styled polygon style, and not voiced, so it's all about reading a lot.
I know people are turned off by this style but personally i find it charming.
but if you want to start with the remake, i'm not going to stop you, just, discover it the way you want to discover it. Personally i got into ff7 because of Crisis Core after all, and i think my watching order was... Crisis Core >Last Order > Advent Children > Original Game > Episode Denzel > Dirge of Cerberus > Remake which..... is the most chaotic way possible to watch it, so like i'd be the last person to judge.
Just as info:
the order i'd recommend to watch them:
Original Game (1997) > Crisis Core > Advent Children > Dirge of Cerberus > Remake
(Last Order and Episode Denzel are OAVs happening around Advent Children, they're very optional, i'm just mentioning it in case)
ONTO LINKS.
i've been looking into videos of the 1997 game and oof it's tough to find one that has all the elements i want.
1997 GAME: This one seems pretty complete without being too long (it's 21 hours long tho). it's missing three of my favorite scenes though and one that i will NOT let you not see. (im linking them but don't check them out of context) -this scene when they are in Gongaga at 8:15:37 -when reaching the part at the 2nd visit at the Gold Saucer at 11:08:16 i prefer the other alternative scene in term of story/lore -the important one: watch this anytime after 17:23:00. It's an optional flashback that explains a lot of things, but that people tend to miss and i had to check and it's missing from the video while it's super important. mark my words.
(also i cannot check to be sure everything is in it (aside from like those three scenes i hunted down), personally it takes me so many hundred hours to play DLKJFDF)
If you want to watch a longer one that is more complete and that i can attest for, but has commentary over it (so at least someone is reading along?) there's this one by snackattack8 that i did watch. it's pretty long, but everything i remember from it is pretty good; and the guy's commentary is okay (he's softspoken and his commentary is pretty okay). it's the PSx graphics though so it can look a little fuzzier, and he posted all the time just wandering around, so you can watch the scenes from fetch quests but it's a lot of wandering. And for the Gongaga scene i mentioned you'd want to check the link i posted on the other one. (the other two links should be fine though)
If from then you want to explore the rest of the saga, in order of their release:
-Advent Children Complete (2005/2009) is the sequel movie that concludes the game. In 2009 it got a remaster with added scenes in relation to Crisis Core so for the full punch you may prefer to watch Crisis Core first.
-Dirge of Cerberus (2006). It's a sequel to Advent Children, focusing on another character and secret stuff. It's not that good, but the lore elements explored in it is being used in the remake (the dlc extension touches a lot on stuff that happened in DOC) so you may want to check it out only if you're hardcore into it.
-Crisis Core (2007) <3 personally i started the saga here but it will spoil some fun if you do start here. It's a prequel, focusing on another guy, and it spoils the OG a lot, but it's. <3.
-Remake (2020). my disclaimer is on top of the post lmao.  -Intergrade (2021) Remake DLC
There was a mobile game with tons of lore in it called "Before Crisis" (the lore is linked to the one explored in DOC) but it was only ever released in Japan so finding it online is complicated.
Else bonus OAV round:
-Last Order. This was the OAV touching the events of Crisis Core before they decided to extend on it. It came out with the 2005 version of Advent Children in order to remind people of that plotpoint that is relevent in AC. It's super spoilery.
-Episode Denzel: this is the backstory of a character in Advent Children. His intro in the 2005 version was confusing, they released this OAV to explain his backstory, but then when they did the remaster in 2009 they added scenes to explain him better. Still the OAV touches on things not mentioned in the movie so.
that's as complete as i can make it, but i know it's confusing LDKFJDFLKJ
i hope it can help though and hope you will find something good in all of this?
Take care :3c

Hello! This is DEMON, 30yo, pronouns are they/them or he/him, do not in any circumstances refer to me as she/her. I have been roleplaying on Tumblr for a while now and well aware of how everything works around here, and what stuff goes down. I enjoy roleplaying villains for most part which is why I have 3 of them and well, what some would consider a sub villain. Other than that, I. play games a lot, namely FFXIV. I enjoy chatting and plotting with my mutuals so you can always request my discord if we are mutual.
GENERAL
▷ This is a highly selective and private multimuse blog, mainly featuring muses from the Final Fantasy series. Muses at the moment include, Ardyn Izunia (FFXV), Emet-Selch (FFXIV), and Zenos yae Galvus (FFXIV). I intend to pick up Reno once FFVIIR is released.
▷ Don’t be a jerk and we’ll get along just fine, be a jerk? Get blocked. Simple as that, I can’t stand drama so please don’t be throwing it my way or any of my friends’ way. If you do, it’ll be put to an end very quickly.
FOLLOWING
▷ First, I do not follow minors on this blog, this blog can include a range of triggering themes as well as NSFW content, so please if you are under the age of 18, do not be following this blog. You will be softblocked— if the follows persist, then I will have no other option than to hardblock you.
▷ I will also softblock if I find you will be too triggered by this blog’s contents. See the TRIGGER section for more information on those.
▷ Lastly, I will softblock those I have no intention on following back. Nothing against you, but if I can’t see myself being interested in your muses or our writing meshing, then it isn’t going to work out. Do not refollow if I have made the decision to do this.
▷ When I follow, I read the rules and about as well as some of your more recent roleplays. If I do not get a follow back within a few days to a week, I will not be bothering to continue following if mutual interest isn’t there.
▷ There is a roleplayer known as tae/railey, main blog in the fandom is ahdynn. This person and their friends are blocked from interacting with this blog. This person stole and copied stuff off of my portrayal of Ardyn Izunia and has left a bad taste toward duplicates of this muse for me. As well as stalked me and my friends after their initial block. So please, if you actively interact with her, stay the fuck away from my blog and my friend’s blogs. She has pushed me to make this a rule on my blog with her consistent stalking. I am not saying not to write with her, but know I will want nothing to do with you if I see her around your page a lot.
TRIGGERING THEMES
▷ There is a number of triggering themes that will be written on this blog due to the nature of my muses. Some of which will send tumblr users off in a mad frenzy, and listen here, I am not having it if you bring shit to me about what I write or demand I prove I have been a victim to any of the themes listed below. I do not condone or agree with any of this stuff.
Non-con
Gore
Torture
Suicide
Self-harm
Cannibalism
These will be the big themes that will be tagged, and only these. I am not about to tag every little trigger out there, so please, if you are easily triggered, do not follow this blog. You have been warned. And please note, I do not push these themes upon anyone who does not wish to write them, this is just a warning that they can appear on this blog.
THREADS
▷ These are written by mutuals only and this is a decision that isn’t up for debate. I do prefer plotted threads over non plotted, I will have a lot more muse for these kind of threads.
▷ Please do not make me threads without my permission to. If you do, they will be ignored, I can be overloaded easily, so I do not want that to happen, and the best way in doing this is ignoring threads that weren’t requested. This includes greeters and dash commentary.
▷ I don’t really do much of crack. If I do, don’t expect it to be going on for weeks. I do it for a bit then I get bored of it.
ASKS
▷ I don’t reblog memes very often. I  have my asks more or less open for side stories of threads that are currently in progress. Stuff that otherwise couldn’t be added in.
▷ If I do reblog a meme, however? Send it in. Mutual’s asks will be replied to only, and only those who specify muse as any sent in without will not be answered.
▷ My asks are open to OOC, private discussion. This is also only for mutuals to use. If you are a non-mutual, your ask will be ignored, regardless if it is IC or OOC. I don’t want to be bothered with non-mutual on this blog, so please don’t waste your time.
SHIPPING
▷ I ship my muses with friend’s muses only. This means you speak to me OOC on a regular and we have established that we are friends. Being mutuals does not equal automatic friendship for me.
▷ There are some ships I am not so open to, as well as that, shipping takes a backseat on this blog. I will much rather a thread involving a good plot than a completely ship related one.
▷ Lastly, I am exclusive with the ships I write. I will only write one version of a ship per muse. I do not break this exclusivity often.
▷ NSFW/smut will be not be written on this blog, I use fade to black for this if any threads touch upon these themes. I find writing it to be very boring and unnecessary as well as awkward.
EXCLUSIVITY
▷ During the course of this blog, I will decide to make partners of mine completely exclusive for my muses. These are so far the muses I am exclusive with and who writes them.
Sephiroth (azhorratha)
Prompto (azhorratha)
If you see your muse listed there, do not follow this blog then. I will softblock if you do not have any other muses on your blog that I am interested in.
