NEIL. NEIL JOSTEN THE ONE AND ONLY. i heard they’re making a new mental illness for him in the dsm 6. this guy has been through literally every bad thing possible and yet he’s still so. himself. and i absolutely love him for it. the character development is INSANE whenever he calls the foxes his family it makes me violently sob and shake my kindle at impossible speeds. i would love to give him some hot soup. he’s also one of the funniest protagonists in any book series ever? i love characters who have 0 filter and are incredibly sarcastic and snarky (that word makes me violent but it’s the best way to describe it). whenever he insulted riko i cheered for him out loud. it’s crazy how a character with this much tragedy going on in his life that has made me cry and be more worried for a character than i ever have in my life (the countdown literally made me sick), he also has some of the funniest lines in anything i’ve read ever. he’s such a guy i love him so much and i want only the best for him in his future

andrew on the other hand IS literally the blood that courses through my veins hes my everything and i fully support every bad decision he has ever made. when i was first reading the foxhole court i was like “this guy sucks as a person” and then i got halfway through the book and realized that he’s actually like. a very caring and protective guy who just wants the best for his family and the few people he chooses to let in even though he goes about it in very unorthodox and destructive ways (such as murder. i’m talking about murder. he killed his twin brother’s mom). but even then it all makes SENSE. like he doesn’t act without reason at all and i think there’s so much depth to his character that you don’t see at first and it’s interesting how that parallels with the whole monster branding and how the other foxes see him… also his thing with promises makes me INSANE i could write a five page essay. he’s not as well. funny as neil?? so this section probably seems a bit more serious. he’s so intense all the time, but he definitely does have his funny moments, usually with some really good sarcasm which once again i love more than anything. overall his methods must have rubbed off on me because i was fully prepared to kill everyone who has ever hurt him after finishing the series

and renee!!!! <3 she was originally my favorite character and then i fell down a rabbit hole of andrew minyard insanity. but i still love her SO MUCH. i think it’s really cool to see a christian character who is seen as calm and wise who is ALSO extremely skilled with knives and not afraid to hold her ground. the fact that nora makes a point of showing how her faith doesn’t take away from her strength but instead adds to it is. mwah chefs kiss. also she’s been through so much and still came out of it such a kind person. and she talks about how she CHOOSES to be a kind person. it isn’t something easy, she doesn’t just wake up every day and love her life because with everything going on around her and in her past that would be so difficult. but she chooses to try and be a good person even though she doesn’t believe that she is one. she’s just so important to me i love her and i need to give her a hug

I LOVED season 1 and 2 of the crown but found season 3 quite dull and difficult to get through. I'm enjoying season 4 (still havent finished bc I watch with my family and we're rarely all together) but I think that the earlier seasons were a lot better in my opinion

All in all, the writing for the first two seasons were WAY better. My ranking is s2 > s1 > s4 >>>>> s3. In my opinion, season three was kind of terrible.

hahaha this is so so long.

In the first two seasons each episode’s mini story for the day was actually INTERESTING. Like, I loved where one episode was about the Mountbatten name and then the next was about the Great Smog! But, there was always an overarching plot and it always added up in the end. S1, S2 and S4 all had an overarching plot that worked! S1 was balancing family and the crown. S2 was balancing prime ministers and her husband. S4 was the downfall of Margaret Thatcher and Charles/Diana. S3 LITERALLY HAD NO PLOT! It was just a bunch of stories put together. The finale for season 3 was about the end of Margaret’s marriage! And although, it is an important event in the family’s history the fact that it was the finale episode????

Anyways, Season 3 genuinely just sucks. Season 4 is REALLY good. Yet, it still doesn’t leave as much of an affect on me like the earlier seasons. AND LIKE I KNOW BECAUSE I’VE REWATCHED THE FIRST THREE SEASONS SO MANY TIMES. I’ve only seen the fourth once because I’m too busy and it’s also too early for me to rewatch it. So, maybe my opinion of season 4 will change!

Now, because I am extra 😈😈 and crazy I will talk about every single episode IN ORDER. hehehehehehe. feel free to hate me

SEASON ONE

101 Wolferton Splash - 10/10 this episodes just sets everything up! we see how happy the marriage is and how loving king george is and we also see the FORSHADOWING!! we see lilibet and phillip making their life thinking they had time when we know they don’t and it’s just :( AN AMAZING PILOT EPISODE WITH AMAZING QUOTES!

102 Hyde Park Corner - 1000/10 this episode needs no explanation. the suspense and DRAMA right before lilibet finds out about her dad ALWAYS gets me!!

103 Windsor - 10/10 I hated this episode the first time I watched it! I didn’t understand the importance of her uncle and I didn’t understand the complexity behind the episode. I was 14 when I saw this episode for the first time! So, mind you I was quite ignorant. but, david basically represents the audience in the show for those who hate the monarchy and call them out on their hypocrisy. BUT DAVID IS A TERRIBLE PERSON! FUCK DAVID! i understand hating the monarchy and for him i know it was personal but the way he talks about his family in the letters UGHUGHGUHGUHGUHGUH this man is evil! there’s also the other story in the episode about the mountbatten name which is so brilliant!

104 Act of God - 15/10 this episode was boring on first watch but I WAS FOURTEEN! this episode took a break from the monarchy and concentrated on a british national horrific event THAT WAS IMPORTANT and i liked how it connected throughout the episode and all that and the CINEMATOGRAPHY OMGGGGG! anyways, something that pisses me off about this episode is that the crown kind of has the same kind of audience as euphoria! they only care about a hot actor or iconic character or the aesthetics AND THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! bc those are the ppl who call this episode the boring fog episode and the latest episode of euphoria a waste of time! they don’t understand the importance of what their watching. an event that killed hundreds by something that could have been avoided bc of science and for euphoria an ongoing pandemic of an ugly world and its affect on ppl not wanting to go on! IM SORRY THIS TURNED INTO A RANT but this episode is important in reminding audiences that disasters can be avoided but also once they happen anything can happen THIS WAS A SAD EPISODE OKAY AND I LOVED VENETIA SCOTT!

105 Smoke and Mirrors - 100/10 THE CORONATION EPISODE! Phillip tries to bring it to the common public and all the fighting between them just makes the coronation even more impactful when we watch it!

106 Gelignite - 8/10 I DESPISED MARGARET IN THE FIRST SEASON i saw her as a spoiled brat who wanted to marry her dad’s assistant! AND ALSO HOW DID SHE NOT REALIZE THERE WAS DEFINITE GROOMING INVOLVED! this episode is generally very good but margaret just pisses me off a lot! however, her not being able to marry peter boresend shouldn’t have been because of his divorcee status but bc he simply was a predator in anyone’s clear eyes IM SORRY IF YOU DISAGREE BUT SHE MET HIM SO YOUNG NO WAY THERE WAS NO GROOMING good episode but pissed off at margaret’s lack of critical thinking besides but I WANT HIMMMMM LIKE I WANT EVERYTHING

107 Scientia Potentia Est - 11/10 hated this when i first watched it! but now one of my favorites! lilibet feels dumb and needs a tutor! prime minister and wannabe prime minister have health problems and keep it from her! lilibet finds out by accident and they all get yelled at! I LOVE WHEN SHE YELLS AT MEN!

108 Pride & Joy - 10/10 this episode is just adds on to the overarching plot of the season: balancing the crown and family. margaret says disrespectful things to ppl who don’t deserve it in place of lilibet while she’s on the commonwealth tour fighting with her husband! then lilibet scorns margaret and we see an ugly papa loved me more argument! absolutely brilliant!

109 Assassins - 1000/10 hated it the first time but now I LOVE THIS EPISODE! it’s the painting and porchey episode and churchill leaving episode. It’s so so so good! i honestly have no words to describe the brilliance of this episode besides the acting done by almost the entire main cast CLAIRE WOW! MATT WOW! STEPHEN (THE PAINTER) WOW! JOHN WOW! HARRIET WOW! when we see the painting getting burned coincided w the downing st dinner GETS ME EVERYTIME I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH!

110 Gloriana - 100/10 the climactic fight between the crown and family! which will lilibet choose?? and the foreshadowing to suez MWAH!

201 Misadventure - 100/10 LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS EPISODE the cutesy lilibet and phillip until it all goes down WOW! and the suez stuff i love it all

202 A Company of Men - 100/10 this is where i think mike’s wife starts snooping or it’s the next episode BUT THIS IS WHERE SOMETHING BEGINS FOR SURE first of all it foreshadows the episode later in the season about philip’s childhood AND MATT’S ACTING!! it’s too good for words!

203 Lisbon - 100/10 i like it when they fight lol that’s the only way i know how to describe why i love it LILIBET WAS EXCITED TO SEE HIM AND SO WAS HE but then mike ruined it by being a disgraceful and dishonest man RUINING EVERYTHING

204 Beryl - 10/10 i start to like margaret bc i feel bad for her! she’s suffering she’s sad that her lil predator boyfriend is no longer w her but look who it is MATTHEW GOODE! he not suspicious at all but the writers are like here take 20 minutes of perfect chemistry between the actors!

205 Marionettes - 100/10 I LOVE THIS EPISODE basically someone who loves the monarchy insults the monarchy and lilibet actually goes to listen to them! w resistance of course but she still took everything he said to fix the monarchy !

206 Vergangenheit - 1000/10 one of my favorites! i didn’t know about david’s nazi past so when i watched this episode for the first time i was completely baffled! another episode where she yells at a man!!!! i’m always annoyed in this episode tho by all the talk from the priest about forgiveness bc im like why would u want to forgive david for being a nazi?? but i think it was intentional by the writers to show the importance of understanding forgiveness and the grounds for it! THIS EPISODE IS JUST PERFECT IM ANNOYED BC I DON’T WANT TO FORGIVE HIM

207 Matrimonium - 9/10 this episode is amazing BEFORE you’ve seen season three bc you root for margaret and tony! but, also throughout the episode there’s all that tony and family and his gf and bf stuff that you think is going to lead somewhere but doesn’t??? like what was the point of introducing his mother and his relationships if it was going nowhere and not even mentioned in season 3??? LIKE WHAT WAS THE POINT WHAT WAS THE REASON? but, also there’s lilibet and phillip fluff in this episode I LOVE

208 Dear Mrs. Kennedy - 10/10 this episode is fun as an american bc i think jackie kennedy and jfk are so idolized here in america it was so interesting to see this other pov! BUT I ALSO REALLY LOVED LILIBET DANCING W NKRUMAH! I THOUGHT IT WAS SO CUTE AND THE MARTIN CHARTERIS STUFF LEADING UP TO IT WAS SO FUNNY!

209 Paterfamilias - 100000/10 no words. IT WAS SO SMART TO PARALLEL PHILIP AND CHARLES this has a lower rating than the previous episode which makes no sense but only goes to prove the idolization of jackie and jfk

210 Mystery Man - 100/10 EVERYTHING FROM THE FIRST EPISODE IS ADDRESSED IN THIS EPISODE THE SEASON COMES FULL CIRCLE JUST LIKE SEASON ONE DID AND SEASON THREE DID NOT DO THAT AND SEASON FOUR DID IT TOO BUT NO WHERE AS GREATLY

301 Olding - 5/10 weak starter but good for introducing olivia as lilibet and harold wilson and departing churchill BUT THAT’S IT! like the whole spy thing just went bleh LIKE IT HAD POTENTIAL but it needed early seasons writing not third season writing techniques TOBIAS DID A GREAT JOB THO IN THIS EPISODE HE WAS A GREAT RECAST FOR PHILIP

302 Margaretology - 6/10 okay. just okay. margaret kind of bratty but you actually feel bad for her then she gets bratty again and then you feel bad for her again and the scenarios in the episode just didn’t feel real like the whole lyndon b johnson was so jealous of jfk that he was rude to the queen so they sent margaret JUST DIDN’T MAKE SENSE like i know this show is fictional but the fiction tends to be believable until i research the episode afterwards BUT FOR THIS it just didn’t make sense

303 Aberfan - 1000/10 ONE OF THE GOOD EPISODES OF THE SEASON! those first fifteenish minutes??? TEARS! i never knew about aberfan until this episode and seeing this episode made me cry!

304 Bubbikins - 10000/10 THIS EPISODE IS TECHNICALLY NOT AS GOOD AS THE ABERFAN EPISODE BUT THIS IS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE we meet anne and alice in this episode AND I LOVE BOTH OF THEM (erinsdoherty is my current url!) this episode is so sad and sweet at the same time and loving bc i’m a sucker for philip’s back story!

305 Coup - 8/10 this had potential I FEEL LIKE IF THEY WROTE THIS EPISODE DIFFERENTLY LIKE HOW THEY WROTE ONE OF THE SUEZ EPISODE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER the fact that it all went to nothing and nothing basically happened WHAT WAS THE POINT

306 Tywysog Cymru - 1000/10 this episode made me like charles! what a horrendous statement! but, like i thought his relationship w his tutor was so heartwarming and he actually seemed to care and all that and it just all in all MADE ME HAPPY like this episode isn’t sad it’s a happy episode until the last scene w lilibet BUT YEA they gave us this one good episode until we hate him which i appreciate makes the story telling better

ALAS, what i would like to say is that i feel that season 4 shouldn’t have been so diana centric! it was diana from the beginning of the season to the end! not, that i don’t love the whole diana story but it was dragged and i think she should have been introduced around the third/fourth episode of this season the same way tony was in season two! camilla should have arrived at the beginning of season 4 so that the intensity between camilla, charles and diana was more believable! if we season three wasn’t so spread out they could have had more brilliant episode.

so first off, i did two wish rolls the other night and guess what? on one roll i got BOTH bennett AND qiqi!!!!!! (the other one was just weapons but 🤷🏽‍♀️) i love them both so much i literally ascended them the second i got them. i still can’t believe my luck. so now my team looks like: traveller, noelle and those two. i’m having a little issue bc i don’t have a long range combat character but i love them all too much to change anything. which means i struggle sometimes maybe if i roll for someone else in the future i might change but rn i’m LOVING them. have you ever had luck like that?

AND i started watching haikyuu again and i forgot how funny it is. i usually don’t laugh out loud while watching things but i was literally chuckling while watching some moments. i’ve only watched 10 eps-ish but i fell in love with it again at the first ep already. i cant believe i dropped it before i’m so stupid.

The anime adaptation sucked for a number of reasons but the music? Mwah

Oh yeah, I did not like the anime for Kagepro at all, tbh. Right after the show concluded, I made a long post about how I thought the show could have been adapted into a longer, 2 cour season which explored the multiple routes, because I was very disappointed. As a long time Kagepro fan, I was infuriated by how things like Otsukimi Recital (one of my favorite songs) seemed to be crammed into the show at the last minute and to this day I still don’t quite  understand exactly what happened with Momo and Kido combining their powers in that episode, but after talking with a few people in a (now deleted) Kagepro discord server and watching Bread Box on Youtube talk about the series as a whole across multiple video essays, I’ve become more at peace with it.

Read more just for me rambling with no cohesiveness about the series:

Kagerou Project, since the beginning, was a complicated way of story telling. I have never had the patience to sit down and read the light novels completely, but I know what happens in them from people discussing them a lot. But, the songs, as a starter, are honestly the best medium for telling Kagepro’s story, because they cover all the routes. Lost Time Memory? We learn about route 1 and route xx. Outer Science and Summertime Record? Part of what made their plot points some impactful was not only were they the two different endings to the story, the way the MVs were released allowed us to be tricked into thinking Outer Science was the final MV we would get and then only 3-4 days later we got to see all our kids grown up and happy and thriving, and the fandom cried. 

I’ve always been fascinated with series that derive from Vocaloid works, because from a meta narrative standpoint, it’s amazing to see how the creators and the method of storytelling evolved. I’m sort of all over the place right now with my points, but I love Kagepro as a song series because it used its music videos and music to tell a story with crazy things like parallel universe and reseting time and good and bad endings in a way I would normally see in a video game. Jin and Sidu and Wannyanpuu, you can see how not only does the music and the story its telling improve (from the vagueness of Jinzou Enemy with Ene being a Miku rip-off, because we had already gotten several songs from the Vocaloid community about the persona of the artificial voice watching its creator) move on to more diversely animated videos with unique character designs that tell us about how a character sacrifices herself for her family, how two different selves of one person die and survive in different timelines, and how one route has to happen for the good route to exist. 

I agree with you that the anime did well because of the music. But that’s because for those of us who was connected to the music series already, those little easter eggs were the only thing really drawing us in. We were hoping to see our favorite song animated completely, animated and fit into a part of the plot we weren’t exactly sure it aligned with. Right now, I feel like Kagepro the series is a mess with the manga having almost a neutral ending, the novels ending but Jin writing more, the anime being the good end but poorly explained. Like I said, I’d being lying if I found it to not be perhaps the worst and most rushed and chaotic adaption of the series, but like I said, part of Kagepro is the journey, and so for me, just hearing Jin finally leave behind the Vocaloid voice and sing the happy ending for his own project for the first time, of course I’m going to get emotional because I saw my kids happy, it was messy and it was rushed and the studio prioritized another anime project in the studio than MCA, but I still cried because everything at the end was happy. I actually agree with a few people but Shaft is the best studio to do Mekakucity Reload, because Shaft is the best at crazy time stories and does the flat coloring and monochromatic style of Sidu the best. (You wouldn’t want Kagepro to go to A-1 or KyoAni, who gloss up their series with sparkles or in A-1′s case, can have a quality dip later on in the show). I think if Shaft is the studio for Reload, in order to make it successful, they need to be working on only that at the time. They aren’t like Bones who have several studios inside them that are dedicated to a few animes that come out consistently. Shaft needs to completely rethink the pacing of Reload, focus less on the jokes of the show and more on the plot, maybe even rearrange how the story is presented to us (maybe introduce us to the bad end first? Have the terrorist attack happen midway into episode 1 or even then end of it? Show at least one route where Kuroha kills everyone, so Summertime Record is angsty and happy-sad because we understand the timeloops) 

TLDR cause I’m already drained from this: Most anime are made to promote manga sales. Shaft put less care into MCA and was banking on people watching for the songs. We don’t need the songs in the anime. We don’t need music videos. We need the plot, like the manga or the light novels deliver. The song series was a way to convey the plot. Reload needs to convey the plot as an anime, and the studio needs to care and give it a bigger budget. I can live with a crazy broken neck head tilt every five seconds if it means we get all of that in exchange.

oh GOD okay here we frickin go. this was my go-to day dream fic for MONTHS, can't believe i never wrote a single word of it..... this might get long and detailed, you have been warned:

so this would've been set somewhere in between 2015-2017. i could never decide if i wanted it to be pre- or post-hiatus, or if i wanted it to be pre- or post-zayn.

niall wakes up, and something is wrong. he's not in his bed - in fact, he's not even in his flat. he finds a phone on the night stand, and it's not his - it's an older model, and it's got a cracked screen. but the background is a picture of him and theo from what looks like theo's birthday party last year. but that doesn't make any sense, because hadn't he missed theo's birthday last year? he definitely doesn't remember taking that photo, or making it his background. he figures he's probably having one, really messed up dream.

he gets out of bed, heads downstairs. he feels awake, but he has had dreams where he's thought he was awake before. he's never been aware of dreaming during those dreams, but right now it's the only thing that makes sense. he hears noise coming from somewhere, so he heads towards it. he finds a kitchen - it's small, and a bit messy. there's a girl there, running around; a piece of toast in one hand and a mug in the other. "uh," he says, confused. his brain still isn't fully awake - actually, it's probably not awake at all. because this is clearly some weird dream. the girl looks up and smiles at him. "morning!" she says, taking a bite of her toast. "uh," he says again. "who're you?" she rolls her eyes. "ha ha, very funny," she says. she puts her mug and toast down on the counter and checks her phone. "oh shit, i'm gonna be late. listen, i'll see you later, okay? enjoy your day off!" and then she's gone, and niall is left alone with no clue where he is.

my instinct here is to just. write it all out but that would be messy and if i were to do that i could just. write the fic. but HERE is what is going on: niall wakes up in a world where he was never in one direction. the girl in the kitchen, her name is jo, is his roommate slash best friend, at least that's what she tells him. she has a girlfriend, sam (short for samira. i've spent WAY too long thinking about jo and sam, they are my children and i love them<3). there's a lot of confusion, first niall thinks he's gone crazy, then everyone else thinks he's gone crazy. one direction still exists, just instead of the little irish fella, there's an extra british guy (i think i had a name for him but i can't remember it anymore). zayn is still there, which is weird bc in niall's world (is this a parallel world? an alternate timeline? niall has no idea, thinking about it all gives him a headache) zayn has very firmly left the band (maybe, as i said i hadn't decided on when this took place). there are obviously some differences, like some of the songs that niall wrote doesn't exist, and some other things are different as well. 1d is still the biggest boy band in the world though, and they seem to be getting bigger every day.

(he calls his mum, to see if maybe she can help him understand. he asks her about auditioning for the x factor, she tells him the story of how he didn't get through to boot camp. she asks him how work is going, and he realizes he has no idea what his life, this life is supposed to look like. so he googles himself, and finds his name listed as a teacher at a music school for kids.)

lots of things happen, obviously! he tells jo, she thinks he's crazy, but then! so, jo works at radio 1 (bc. plot reasons), and one day they're doing a big reveal of 1ds newest single. it's top secret, no one has heard it yet. niall is at home, when he turns on the radio and hears them announce the title of the song, and!! he knows that song!! he knows it, and this is how he can prove to jo that he's not crazy (and maybe also prove it to himself). so he calls jo and sings her the song, tells her that if he's right and that's how the song goes then he has to be telling the truth. and he is! so jo believes him, and they start trying to figure out what to do. they come up with a plan that obviously, niall needs to go to a show to meet some of them, maybe they'll remember him somehow.

blah blah, they go to a show (jo uses her radio 1 connections to get them backstage. as i said, plot reasons). they run into the new guy first, the not-niall-guy. he smiles at them, but there's no recognition there. but then why would there be, it's not like niall knows him either. they also run into harry. it's- weird, for niall, because he knows harry so well. and here he is, and he looks at niall like he's just some guy. they do, however, share a bit of a moment. this all becomes very important later, when they meet again (niall and jo kind of. stalk harry to try and talk to him again.) niall blurts the truth, and harry, obviously, doesn't believe him. then niall tells him something that only someone who knows harry really well would know (it's the story of his first kiss with a guy). harry is shocked, but starts believing niall.

goood, there is. so much more to this but this is already so long. i guess... let me know if anyone wants to hear the rest of this? i barely even touched on the narry of it all, but there was going to be like. guitar lessons (bc without niall in the band, harry never learned how to play, so niall gets to teach him again), and sneaking around, and mystery solving. i DID have a plan for the conclusion, but it's all very complicated lmao. if i ever wrote this fic it would've ended up being like. thee longest fic i ever wrote. okay i'm gonna shut up now because i have another one of these asks that i need to get to. if anyone read all of this, you are a saint mwah!
