All right, here we go, counting down to number one!

5 - Halo 1x01 This was a great way to bring Chief in, IMO! I mean, what is more Chief-like than falling out of the sky into the middle of some enemies, right? At the time, I only knew the games vaguely but, even still, I thought the suit looked AWESOME here. And now that I do know the games... I still think it looks awesome, what can I say?

I would pair this lovely opening scene with a Classic Coke Zero because... Chief is a classic! 😎👍

4 - Halo 1x04 Oh man, this one hits me in the feels every time. I love how you see all of these emotions go through him: curiosity, longing, confusion, ending with him looking away and pulling some resolve back around himself. Because he's feeling this want to be loved, to have someone to laugh with, to care about and who'll care about him, and he doesn't know what to do with that. It doesn't fit a lifetime of Spartan training. He's not supposed to want those things, he's not even supposed to think about those things. But now he is and nothing is going to be the same ever again.

I would pair this with a cup of Maxwell House Chai Latte because it's coffee... but it's tea. But it's coffee and tea. And it's confusing but... I like it. 😂😉

3 - Halo 1x04 I love that we finally get to see a reserved playfulness between them! Plus, him reference that line that Kwan told him serves to both show that he's learning, he understands why she said that to him, but it also was a way to link Kwan back to all of this time away from her. I know it would've been difficult to keep them involved with each other after they separated but it would've done a lot to make her story feel more necessary if that link between them would've been somehow strengthened instead of just vanishing. I mean, a couple of quick calls? Something to let them talk and connect? I dunno. There wasn't really time in his plot, I know but it would've gone a long way if they could've found a way, IMO. 🤷‍♀️

I would pair this scene with a Dr Pepper Cream Soda Zero, because it's light, sweet and fizzy! 💖

2 - Halo 1x09 This entire scene, as he slowly realizes that he's going to have to cease to exist in order for Cortana to both save Silver Team and to recover the Artifact... It's just good. Not only are we seeing his trust in Cortana bloom at last but the thing that always gets me in this final moment, as he tells her that he trusts her, is the look on his face. He's not angry anymore, not railing against the events that have brought him to this point, not raging against what Halsey did to him by implanting an AI into his brain with the intention of replacing him in his own body. No, he looks almost peaceful, resolved. He's ready to accept his fate, whatever it may be. *clutches him to my fangirly heart*

I would pair this with a nice cup of Oolong tea, my favorite kind. 🍵

Honorable mention:

Halo 1x06 Now, this isn't for the obvious reasons, I promise, lol! He looks and sounds like he's dying in this scene and yet NOBODY checks on him? That bugged me so much that I wrote a one-shot fic about it. It was originally going to make use of an OC but I made a last minute decision to redo it as a Reader fic instead. And that was "15 Minutes" which became one of the most favorite things I've ever written (and spun off a series, also featuring "Recreation" a Kai x Male!Reader fic, both still on-going).

I would pair this scene with a cup of delicious Folgers Mocha Chocolate Flavored Cappuccino ☕ in gratitude for all it ended up giving me. 😉

Annnnd *drum-roll* for our winner, winner, chicken dinner!

1 - Halo 1x06 Since I had this one in video form, I had to go ahead and include it like this. MANNNN, this scene! Everybody here was acting their butts off, IMO. Halsey went from surprised to stern to absolutely terrified over the course of the scene. I really wasn't sure at the time if Cortana could have forced him to open the door or if she was playing the odds that he wouldn't let Halsey die. 🤷‍♀️👀 And John was genuinely scary here. His anger is clearly burning under an icy resolve and, again, I wasn't sure up until that last second if he was legit going to let her die. I mean, unless they were going to turn Chief into a straight-up murderer, then I knew he wouldn't, but dannnng, I can't think of much else that would be scarier than a Spartan looking at you with such hatred and contempt. 😱😱😱

I would pair this scene with the tears of Chief's enemies because they would be overflowing and plentiful. 👀😳😉

Brothers Apart Contest 2022!

It was a long 2021, but we made it through!

We postponed the contest last year, and now it’s time to get back to the fun! I myself ended up quarantined at the end of the year for possibly having COVID (still haven’t gotten hold of a home test to use and all the places that do testing around here are booked up for the next week, so home I stay). I’m thrilled to see what you all come up with this year!

From January 1st, 2022 to Mary 31st, 2022, there is a contest running for Brothers Apart!

All art mediums are welcome, but the art must be based off of one of the stories within the Brothers Apart Multiverse.

Literature is accepted, so feel free to enter in any story entries you want. The stipulation is if it is a multi-part story, all parts must be up by March 31st.

If you entered into the contest in a previous year and never got to finish the entry, feel free to finish that and enter it into the contest! I am accepting all types of entries this year!

Rules:

Must be based on the Brothers Apart multiverse. Canon brothers are only accepted if they are dealing with Celeste’s curse victims.

You may create an entry based on one of the various AU’s (Brothers Lost, Brothers Consulted, ect…) or create your own AU, but it must in some way connect to the Brothers Apart multiverse.

This year there will be one contest and we’ll start with three winners (which will increase if enough interest is shown). Each contestant may submit up to two entries.

Everyone is welcome to enter except for @nightmares06, since I will be running the contest. 😉 That includes beta readers and cowriters.

You may include any OCs from the stories in any artwork or writing or create your own OCs to interact with them!

Each entry must be uploaded for viewing online. This is not site specific, but it must be a publicly displayed work that we can all see.

Please tag @brothersapart in any tumblr entries. If the entry doesn’t get reblogged to brothersapart, I might not have seen it! Let me know.

For fanfiction.com, archive of our own or other website entries, please send a message with the location of your entry to [email protected] so a link to it can be displayed on tumblr for everyone to see.

For the deviantart entries, send a note to nightmares06 with the entry to ensure that it is added to the contest journal. Also provide a link to the contest journal in the information section for the entry.

Each entry will be displayed on the Brothers Apart tumblr, wordpress site, and on nightmares06′s deviantart homepage.

There will be three prizes! One grand prize and two first prizes!

One of the first place prizes will be decided by a poll, giving everyone a chance to vote for their favorite!

Bitcoin is at the center of a political debate in the United States. Regulators, legislators, and government institutions seem to be leaning in favor of its detractors.

The recent conflict over the infrastructure bill, with a provision that could significantly hurt the crypto industry, proved that there is a lot of power with those that opposed Bitcoin. Conversely, its proponents also displayed strength.

However, the industry is young and will need more allies to fight back on politics that could potentially be stalled or stop it altogether.

Aarika Rhodes, U.S. Congressional Candidate for the 30th District of California, asked for a meeting with Bitcoiner and CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey. The invitation was made via that social network, and Dorsey accepted.

The product of this meeting could have major implications for Bitcoin. Rhodes is running on a pro-BTC platform against one of the industry’s worst detractors, U.S. Congressman (D) Brad Sherman. He is known for statements such as:

Cryptocurrencies, if they succeed, will have appeal to only two groups, narco-terrorists and tax evaders.

If Sherman have it his way Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies would be ban in the U.S. shutting down the door on innovation in one of the most important economic hubs. Sherman is not alone on his stand, as Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren have proven.

Bitcoin detractors treat cryptocurrencies as a bi-partisan problem, and its defenders must do the same. Rhodes said the following after asking for a meeting with Jack Dorsey:

Bitcoin is not a partisan issue. People from all across the political spectrum invest in #bitcoin and that is their choice. I am happy with my stance.

Aarika Rhodes, A True Bitcoin Believer?

An award-winner teacher in California, Rhodes’ is running on a platform focused on academic inequalities, low-income communities, reforms for the U.S. criminal justice system, and financial reforms, including a pro-BTC stance.

Rhodes worked as a volunteer in the presidential campaign for Andrew Yang, also a Bitcoin supporter. In an article for Bitcoin Magazine, talking about the importance of financial literacy for students, Rhodes said:

Bitcoin is already changing finance and investment, and it has the potential to revolutionize the entire economy. If the federal government banned bitcoin, it would not destroy the technology, but it would help ensure that the American economy will lose out to foreign markets and investors.

This has been one of the concerns raised by all actors in the crypto industry operating in the U.S., by adopting anti-BTC policies, innovation could choose to migrate, as it has already done in the past in different countries. Rhodes added:

Calls to ban bitcoin are bad for the economy and ignore the rights of individual Americans to handle their own money as they see fit.

At the time of writing, BTC trades at $45,690 with persistent sideways movement as it recovers from a dropped to $43,000 that took place on Tuesday. Reclaiming the high area of its current levels has become imperative for BTC’s price to retake bullish momentum.
