So I saw a yt short about the three Fates in ancient Greece. He described the very basic process of how they weaved the thread of Life, but he said "not much thought goes into it really" and it came off so disrespectful to the whole meaning of it. Allow me with my limited knowledge to add to this and clear out that sentence.
Fate in ancient Greece was more powerful than the Gods. When the Fates had made their decision, no one, not even the Gods were in place or power to change the person's fate.
So, so many ancient Greek tragedies, stories and myths have a plot that originates from the curiosity of humans, whether that is defying nature or the Gods. Nothing comes to mind when it comes to defying Fate. When I asked my teacher (φιλόλογος, μας έκανε Ελένη φέτος) about it, nothing came to mind, and she told me that everyone knew how powerful Fate was, there was no point in even THINKING to defy her.
Sometimes understanding the non-material value of something is more important than learning how it works.
If there is anything I missed or misunderstood here please tell me! :D
That's totally true. Nobody could defy the Fates, not even Zeus!

I was born with you. and the tragedy is like blood on my hands. I clawed myself out - home, shelter, cold and dirty hole in the backyard. the Fates had already taken their ragged hands and plucked the last thread, and Atropos' great scissors sheared right through and - and I'm still alive here. mouth of dirt and hands holding heart. beating and fleeting. the tender organ like a fresh steak, cut new and still bleeding. beating. I take a bite. lip quivering. I take a bite.

Gideon couldn't say anything but blearrghhh, mainly because blood was coming enthusiastically out of every hole in her face.
