Jane Unhinged

I freaking loved this episode in season 6 (Episode 15 White as the driven snow) This shows the lengths Jane will go to protect and save his friends.

This unhinged moment may have been a part of his plan but for me, I feel this scene showed the mask slipping, the moment Jane showed his darkness.

He meant it when he told Haibach that he had nothing to lose and will find him and make him pay. The cinnamon roll meant it! You can hear it in the intensity of his voice.

okay i have thoughts, obviously.

i love that they keep going back and forth between their fight and grace because for real grace looks like a kid in the middle of her parents fighting. it's okay grace *pat pat* they're not divorcing they're just having some disagreements.

it's fascinating to see them actually mad at each other to see how their angers show up. Jane's anger is more internal while Lisbon's anger is external. Jane kinda quietens when he's really mad, fewer words, fewer body movements, fewer facial expressions, less blinking, the brow is also furrowed down and his eyes seem distant, less present. i would also guess that he's not really familiar with being angry at people he loves. Lisbon, on the other hand, has way more facial expressions, is ranting, has her eyebrows up and she takes it out on Jane (though I doubt that's news for anybody)

on the discussion of feelings, it's fascinating to see the trajectory. Jane starts by being disappointed (obviously) that Lisbon told Grace. Lisbon is sympathetic, she understands she betrayed his trust but he also wouldn't tell her anything and she is a person of action. She thinks she expects his anger but she's shook when it comes, even if it comes from betrayal. My suspicion is that their thought processing is something like this.

"No, no no! I told you! Tell noone! I told you!" -> I trusted you and I still can't believe you betrayed my trust.

"You told me? You are not my boss!" -> You told me that but you told me nothing about a plan. I don't think you have one, actually, I am scared he will catch us unprepared. We can't just all wait for him to act and kill us all and I will not sit here like a damsel in distress waiting for you to save us. (which she basically says in words anyways.)

For all that he's good at reading people and playing them, he's fucking poor at communication. Which makes sense giving his history but nonetheless.

4. Please pay attention to Jane's face in the last panels, specifically when she says "I have to do what I have to do to do my job." That's no longer anger. That's pure and genuine grief. And terror. He thinks he's losing her. He's staying there, motionless, because he can already see Red John killing Lisbon because she put a tracker on the suspects. In his mind, she's already dying and he's trying to cope with that.

5. "Grace you're in charge until Cho comes here, after that he's in charge." "Okay boss." -> biggest "Grace you're in charge until your brother comes here after that he's in charge." "Okay mum." vibes.

While I adore Cho and Michelle, I also enjoy the relationship between Cho and FBI IT savant Jason Wylie.

Cho gives off such silent sovereign vibes that the children dare not interrupt his train of thought. Yet still crave his attention.

Not only was Cho impressed with Jason’s work, he made sure the younger man received the credit for it. This was no one-off, as Jason went on to be treated like a real team asset. Cho always seemed to take him seriously and genuinely appreciate his help.

One of two things happened here. Either Cho detected something off and gave Jason the 'stare' until he gave up the Intel or Jason heard about the jeopardy and made a beeline for Cho.

I especially love their sticking close together following a mutual tragedy. There’s no denying the care and respect between the two of them.
