a fic which i adore with every fibre of my being. i will not say anything more about this, except to request you to go read this. you'll love it. (especially the fantabulous ending. btw, did i already say how much i'm in love with how well-written this fic is?)

one of the best angst-with-a-happy-ending fic there is. i wish i could give thousands of kudos for the heart-wrenchingly amazing way the author has portrayed gojo's character here.

one of the most beautiful works i've read so far. told from yuuji's pov, it explores gojo and reader's relationship and its nuances in a way seldom done before. however, what stole the show for me, was the soft and sweet mother-son duo the reader and yuuji grow to be in this fic. i really love this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

if you wish to watch godlike!gojo willing to let go of his powers, out of guilt and immense, immense, protective love for the reader, this is the ideal fic for you. i'm in awe of the way the writer wrote gojo's complex persona and the way the sorcerer realized his feelings for the reader. (the second chapter's the cherry on the cake. it's so good!!!!)

finale thoughts!!

I knew fusebox had to drop the ball at some point it just happened a lot slower than I was expecting 🤣

first off, now that I've fully rejected Theo it feels like he's missing in action again, hilariously. said it before, but they said he's like the dad of the group initially and I wish we'd have more platonic interactions with him to see that.

Hari and Hazel having Oakley and Emel esque drama God damn we should've just kept Oakley and Emel. That would actually be more interesting to me bc in character makes sense, they're always fighting but something about their last argument was the last straw and then they tearfully announce finale morning that though they care for each other they decide to break up and won't join everyone in the final to be true to themselves (basically I stole this from love island USA S4 with Nadjah and Jeff lol)

also bc I liked Hari and Hazel together I wish they could've just made it. Like they make more sense to me than Bea and Logan.

Speaking of Bea and Logan, I do think they're such a random couple. I mean, ngl it's not like the love island show always produces four strong couples for the finale each season, but since like S5 of the game it feels like there are no good couples that make sense in the finale except for MC and whoever she's with. Like Amelia and Toby MAYBE just bc they were written for each other, but even then. at least when Angie coupled with Oliver as a last minute love interest for her, there was the story that she couldn't find anyone and that they had a lot in common and actually showed some interest in each other until fusebox threw that out the window and made Angie a lesbian (which I'm not complaining about but then whyd they keep Oliver around)

And since I'm talking about all the couples anyway I guess I will comment on Theo and Claudia being together still for some reason?? said this before but WHY. at least they're a hot couple. if they're still together during the reunion though oml 🙄

anyway hideaway is nice.

I didn't realize your answer with Hazel would determine your final date but that's cute it's in a castle. Also I picked it bc I personally thought that would be interesting, but I totally forgot Jin is also a history nerd so I'm just gonna pretend that the imaginary producers were like oh we have a perfect date for these two hot nerds lol. I wish he had more comments on the castle though, bc yeah he's a history buff! just really shows the dialogue is all merged now so it's very generic.

like I feel like Jin hasn't made any jokes for a while too, which is out of character but that's bc the dialogue has to work for Jin and Oakley and Jack and Tyler too 😭 I guess it doesn't need to be fully custom but a couple lines here and there to remind us of the character they had in the beginning would be nice.

I love Hazel up until this episode now because what do you mean they're fighting over suck and blow now???? I let the card drop bc I want to be an instigator!! let MC kiss Hari again,, cause a big fucking mess 🤭

I also think we just didn't need drama the last episode. like there'll be enough emotions with the characters being sad about leaving and talking about the outside, there doesn't need to be more relationship drama. if there MUST be drama: do what I said earlier in the other hari/hazel bullet point where they just have a swift death and self eliminate in the morning/afternoon, or have petty drama between non romantic islanders. like when S2 the girls are arguing over lotion or perfume or whatever or the salt crisps later and bathroom problems later on. These guys have been living in close proximity for some time, they're bound to get agitated over little things that don't result in big shocking revelations and breakups, so just do that.

speeches cringe as always but that's just the nature of those declarations anyway. Hazel though, girl, stop it.. I'm getting the ick for you as a friend

another comment for branching would've been nice: it's weird that Claudia is like omg we're besties when they both sorta cheated on their partners in casa for each other (in my game at least). like she says we have to plan to hang out outside the villa and I'm thinking oh shit,an open relationship with Jin??gotta make sure he's okay with it first 😂😂

like Hamish I don't like and I don't think it makes sense he'd do it S6, but I understand that he's a fan favorite and very silly so that's why he's there. S7, I didn't play but I think it was Ivy and she's not a fan favorite, but I could so see the producers trying to pick anyone who had the free time and wanted to do it and she's the only one who said yes. But Finn??? I'd bet on Eddie coming back before Finn?? And fusebox has access to S4, like they could've picked Bruno, so why Finn??

Galactik Football season 3 rewatch, eps 1 - 3

Ok I'm finally rewatching s3, thought I'd put up some thoughts like I did for the previous seasons

Episode 1:

Oh boy here we go

Ok right off the bat you can tell the animation isn't motion captured anymore which... yeah it's not as good. But the drop in quality is more noticeable in the 2D animation which was already a bit rough in the earlier seasons

New Micro-Ice voice actor :( No wonder the VA's walked out, the budget for this season was 2 pennies, a shoelace and some gum.

Well since that robo cat was disguised as a real one, I'm guessing there actually are real ones running around?

Corso: This doesn't look good! Sonny: NOT. AT. AAAALL!!

What in the 2000's comedy dialogue

So like, why are the Snow Kids apparently so much more out of shape and uncoordinated than other teams? Everyone else would have had a break too? You don't HAVE to nerf them just to make them the underdogs again, you know

Why is Mice doing the door to door marketing of his drink himself, he's a rich football superstar now? Also very surprised Mark didn't just say that it sucks

Aaaand season 3 tries to tell us there's suddenly distance between Mei and D'jok with no buildup whatsoever. Mei's already chilling with Sinedd what is this pacing 😭😭😭

Mei joining the Shadows is one thing but skipping the training to chill with Sinedd on a beach... she would never. She cares about the team, not just D'jok. She wouldn't do it like this!

tbf D'jok kind of has a point here – disappearing with no good reason and arriving late to the match is irresponsible at that level of play, but it's played as if he's being controlling over her? And no one else is wondering where she went, they just compliment her fit??

Yeah it's not just the animation, the direction is lacking too in the matches but I don't know enough about cinematography and pacing to describe how exactly

Why are they watching this broadcast about Paradisia during half time, hellooo? Did he hijack their satellites or something??

Ngl the worldbuilding around Paradisia is pretty cool

Mei immediately just switches to the Smog skfsfdks BUT THE PACING IS SO BAD THAT IT'S HILARIOUS

Is that allowed? Wouldn't there be penalties for someone using another flux in the match?? I guess it's a friendly

Aarch: It's possible to experience the Smog, if a player is overwhelmed with extreme anger

OK so this kind of messes with the lore of the Smog... I just don't think it should be so easy to start using another flux where the key is just... the emotion you're feeling? I mean sure, it was implied the Smog feeds off negative emotions and/or strengthens them but... ach there just needed to be more buildup to this!

And you're telling me NO ONE accidentally used the Smog before? Not even Rocket, when he was about to punch Luur after Tia got injured, but Mei does over some love drama we don't even know the cause of???

The Shadows stadium is so cool btw, the crystal like shapes on the ceiling, the emo colours... chef's kiss

Yeah it's annoying that D'jok is just acting the same way he used to because the writers don't know what to do with him, but again we don't know how long Mei has been acting like this and I would get annoyed too, although blaming her for the loss of the game was too much. Then again she's probably distancing herself from the team because of how he's behaving with her but again, I'm left here trying to speculate how their relationship broke apart because it was all in a timeskip! I shouldn't have to do that!!

I'm not against them breaking up, I can see how their characters can clash but... give me some more buildup god damn it!

And Mei joins the Shadows... ngl she slays in the outfit but... OUGHGHHG ALL THIS JUST IN EPISODE ONE

Also ngl I think the new writers just skimmed the past episodes and thought that 'pretty girl would go for the bad boy' was enough justification for Mei and Sinedd to get together which like, ugh. They've had like one interaction! And it wasn't a nice one!! Hoooow did they start getting closer let alone start dating AAARGGGHH

Episode 2:

I just... don't think Mei would leave the team like that! As I said she cares about all of the Snow Kids, she'd at least tell Tia or something before running off like that and leaving them to find out from a freaking TV broadcast!

Aarch: If I had a nickel for every time one of my players ran off without telling me, I'd have- ah forget it it happened again

Hearing Sinedd sounding so pleasant is hilarious, it sounds so forced

Oh wait nevermind Mei did try to send them a message beforehand. It's actually really sweet how she addressed each and every one of them individually... Mei calling Ahito little brother and him burying his face in the pillow 😭😭😭

She confuses me because we've never seen her on the Wambas team and there is like, zero mention of her ever having played with them, plus if she was Aarch would surely know of her already and she's wearing civvies from what I can see so... is she just some rando who happens to be good at football or not?? It seems kind of dumb to get someone like that when you could get a player who's actually used to playing in the big league. Why not just introduce her earlier as a new up-and-coming player in the Wambas team?

Kind of funny that Micro-Ice didn't catch on that Yuki is going to the Elektras when they meet them at the bar, come on he's not dumb. Also why is he acting like Yuki is leaving the SK forever, it's just one tournament (at that point, anyway). Actually I'd say it's a good thing if some of their players get some experience on other teams!

But yeah I feel like they could have built this up more – had her talk to Mark or something beforehand discussing why she feels she should do this, idk just something so it doesn't feel like plot point B needs to happen sooo it's happening now.

Aarch: We're expecting you back after this tournament is over! Yuki: You can count on me!

I feel like this whole team member reshuffling should have been done beforehand with negotiations between teams so none of them get stiffed but whatever

Tia: I'm not so sure I want her in the team either! Rocket: Why? Tia: I have my reasons!

Ok it's veeeery interesting to see Artegor's reaction to Aarch being harsh with D'jok and reminding him that he's going through a rough spot. Wonder how much of that comes from the experience of dealing with Sinedd... Artegor might have a soft spot for D'jok considering that “you'll always be a kid from Akillian” conversation in season 2, oouuughh the parallels between those two angry boys that Artegor probably sees himself in!

I also really wish we got to see more interactions between Artegor and Sinedd after Artegor got his mind cleared, would have been weird for Sinedd to have someone looking out for him all of a sudden

The writing style is very consistent which I very much love. I'm a little confused about the plotline, but this could very much be me and my information processing problems

Very canon divergent, but that's never been a problem for me in this world or the next, my gimmick is Aus

One thing that I love that I always have to commend writers for is that the paragraphs are varied in length, making it easier to read. I really love the flow of writing

I like Soap and Gaz's interactions, reminds me a lot of myself and my brother, so that's pretty good!

Laswell and Price's interactions are also very good, a little formal, but I liked how they flowed, the dialogue is believable

Chapter 6, the scene from Ghost's perspective, was pretty gut wrenching, ngl. That last line:

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don’t know if I have any angsty endings in my fics but probably By my side is one of the angstiest stories I’ve posted on AO3. Just your average Midsummer fic with some necromancy and raising someone from the dead.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They all have happy endings, but probably A lesson in love, which has a feel good ending, or Specialised in you where they get to a happy ending through some initial angst and drama. Feels even happier then, doesn’t it?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

None so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Nobody should have to deal with it.

9. Do you write smut?

Yesss. Whatever they end up doing, there’s usually an emotional connection there because that’s how I prefer to write intimate scenes. But ngl, half the time I'm pushing myself to get the words out because I still think "oh no, is this really awkward" but then I remember the post I saw here on Tumblr where an actual published novel had the cringiest smut I've ever seen, and I'm fine again. We've all got this!

No.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I translate my own fics.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Years ago I wrote a few HP crack fics together with others.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

James/Sirius. (To quote Snape: Always. 💀) Almost from the start. Sometime before the fifth book came out I was completely into Prongsfoot. Not counting years.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

I don’t post anything until I finish it first, so I have no hanging WIPs on AO3. But I have plenty in my WIP folder. I like to remain hopeful that I’ll end up writing them eventually. Not going to stress about anything.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I can come up with some nice plot ideas, funny and tense scenarios and good banter between J and S.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My ability to finish fics and focus on one fic at a time has felt difficult lately. I don’t know why I seem to run out of steam when I have the last third left. Also descriptions are hard for me, partly because while I love how they set the mood and make the text more vivid, I’m always eager to just write what the characters are doing and saying to each other. Descriptions in English are especially hard because it’s my second language and I’m always guessing if what I write has the right nuance and tone etc.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

Sure, why not if it fits the story. I added a very minimal amount of French flavour to Fashion and hoped that no one would get too pissed off about it (mostly because of my poor attempt to write French English accent, not the actual French in there).

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. The first fic I ever posted as a teenager was a humour fic where Harry and his friends time travelled into the past and for some reason all the guys had to take part in a beauty competition (Mr Hogsmeade ’76) hahaha. This fic does not exist anywhere online anymore.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Specialised in you is dear to me because it was not supposed to become at all what it is but James Potter took over the plot and I was a mere scribe at that point. Also I have a 20k Prongsfoot fic in Finnish that I haven’t translated into English yet but it’s the apple of my eye. I did a lot of research and put so much time and effort and all my Prongsfoot feels into it. It’s loosely inspired by the film Velvet Goldmine i.e. glam rock, glitter and S pining for J.

as someone who has watched literally nothing about mlp but had always had an interest in it and its fandom like xenofic bugs in a jar, im living for this new pony tangent. what are your favorite and least favorite brony tropes, when it comes to the fan media they make?

you and me ngl lol i’m both surprised and not surprised at the response to my mlp posting, the mlp and warriors community feel like they’d definitely cross over lol

I feel like I have to preface that the community was a huge inspiration to me and the sheer amount of creativity that people put into their pony projects is still amazing. It’s so clear that a lot of the songs, animations, literature, and general fan creations came from a place of love and a lot of that inspired me to try new things! For all the bad press “bronies” got (and let’s be real, a lot of media outlets just wanted to mock them), it’s clear that a lot of older fans were having a blast creating. I still listen to a lot of the songs from the community and watch lullaby for a princess or rise the moon from time to time because of how much they still hold up.

I guess lore is a double edged sword? Because on one hand, I love reading too deeply into media that does not call for it. I loved reading the analysis on class divisions in mlp and I really liked the critical side of the community, it helped me really develop my own skills as a kid and helped me question a lot of the stuff that I was consuming. I loved watching reviews of episodes or hearing what my favorite artists thought! I think a vocal community can definitely be a double edged sword, but it really did encourage me a lot in speaking up about my interests.

But I don’t know if that’s a trope lol so I guess…definitely the sociopolitical analysis of pony society. The ones that picked at the show and what it intentionally or unintentionally would say. I love that stuff, it’s super fun to dig into. But on the other side, lore was something a lot of people held up as the best aspect of the show, and there was this sort of clamoring for the writers to dump more and more. Which, look, a lot of the original lore was weaved within dialogue or conflicts, it wasn’t quite “dumped” on the audience as it became in the newer seasons.

But there was this sort of fascination by some on war and the military in the pony universe. This obsession with royal guards and political conflicts, and I guess in some ways I get it? But also, look, it was peddled by a lot of self-proclaimed military bronies. It does not help the show did in fact do a little pandering with one of the episodes actually featuring an alternate universe where the ponies go to war and we get to see them in full armor 😭 like there was this big fascination of the princesses killing and leading battles and it just was not for me.

Hm….maybe nextgen stuff? I always did like the idea of seeing what happened next and all the various pairings. Though sometimes that did give a lot of artists the chance to be edgy and admittedly a bit inappropriate for the pony show. Like with lore, double edged sword I suppose. Can’t complain too much, I was a pretty edgy kid and loved angst and edge and drama! Still do but I keep it for my uh older audience OC’s.

Hm let’s see….fascination with side characters. Maybe because the show indulged them a little too much. I can’t blame the fandom for everything when the writers weren’t exactly tempering expectations. But that’s the same reason why I enjoy it! I loved seeing people provide full on backstories and character to ponies who were mentioned once (someone gave the idea that Woah Nellie is an outspoken activist and i still love that).

But yeah! Honestly? The ultra violent military obsession has always just been the weird one for me. It’s fine and I get why some people would be interested in the social and politics dynamics of a pony military, but I think the people who really liked it just liked the idea of the ponies going to war with cool weapons and fancy armor and not much else (gotta show how MANLY mlp is amiright guys)

I feel like there’s others but nothing is coming to mind rn other than the insane amount of sexual content.

Oh man's mango!!! I've been reeling from More Than Words the drama for the past however long. Like wow. Man. Mango. Manicure. I was so nervous to watch it because In the Apartment is my favourite manga ever and I don't want it ruined, but the adaptation was genuinely incredible????

I'm so out of the loop with zoomer actors the only faces I recognised where the veteran appearances, but the young cast blew me away. Aoki Yuzu as Senoo in particular, his performance was insane, like Senoo jumped off the page in all of his elusiveness. Fujino Ryouko was also incredible, she reminds me of a young Aoi Yuu in the best of ways. I was a bit confused why they'd cast Youtube comedian Kanechika Daiki as Sugimoto at first ngl but I warmed up to him so I can live with it haha. I refuse to believe this was Hashizume Shunki's first time directing, that man has an impeccable vibe.

I just love this story so much!! The dialogue is absolutely fantastic, hands down the best dialogue I've ever witnessed in a bl manga. When that song by Quruli started playing I nearly fainted from the emotional whiplash. They are the most famous band from Kyoto where this story is set and my favourite band and the song just fits so well I am going to translate it for u. Honestly I'm even thinking of translating the entire second volume of In the Apartment because that's the end of the story and it's not available in English anywhere (not going to scanlate though, you'd have to do with text and screenshots).

Where the drama leaves off is the middle. The drama mostly focuses on the first volume More Than Words, but really there are three volumes in total, and the latter two focus on Senoo and Sugimoto, not Senoo and Eiji, because the story is not about Senoo and Eiji as a couple, or that's how I see it. I think the story here is that you can have more than one love in your lifetime. Just because a love ended doesn't mean it wasn't true at the time. Just because you fucked things up with one person doesn't mean you can't start again with someone new. It's a story about change more than anything.

There's that line at the end of the last episode when Sugimoto says sukitte yuu yori itooshii, I dunno if I love you but you make my heart ache. I'm genuinely obsessed with that line and how Sugimoto thinks he's pouring out his heart while Senoo takes it as a confirmation that Sugimoto is only with him out of pity. It's so good guys!!!!

The last time song by Quruli reminded me of these frames from In the Apartment 2:

Sugimoto: You're still carrying something of your ex with you.

Senoo: Why, what makes you think so?

Sugimoto: Cuz of what you said about not wanting to cry again if I washed your hair.

Sugimoto: I figured it's cuz it'd remind you of him.

ngl huge mood @ the notes on the zatopost i dont really care for that motherfucker at all lorewise he's reprehensible and irritating and i hate the whole Everything with him and millia and how the fact that he was the direct cause for her being suicidal (more than once i think?) is pretty much just shoved under the rug and irrelevant now and there's no need for him to own up to what he did cause like oopsies he can't now, esp with new fans who dont care to.. read wiki pages, at least. like i sure dont like the guy Except for the comedy potential with eddie bc of the nature of their dynamic any potential feelings they could have about it would be hilarious no matter what (i just wasnt about to a) hit tag limit and b) start negging zato super hard on op's zatopost cause that felt a little mean, to me. dude definitely is very. eyebrow raised emoji. tho. dont know Recent Zato Lore but the early shit with the assassin's guild is very. damn you sure did that huh.)

yeah, i understand why you wouldn't want to put mr. zato on blast directly underneath OP's work; it'd be extremely rude to do so.

but you get what my point was about him. I rewatched his and Millia's Xrd (both Sign and Rev 2) and Strive arcade modes and at most, you get Millia telling him to knock it off with the flattery and cutting him off a bit to say she's moved on to a 'normal' life when he suggests they do just that (only for her to decide to return to the Guild anyways b/c 'it was the only time my soul felt alive despite the terrible stuff I did there' and 'my crimes and sins cannot be wiped away'. She says she'll become Guild leader and turn the guild into a place for all, fulfilling Zato's plans mentioned in the Night of Knives CD Drama to move the Guild away from the guns-for-hire stuff. I have huge problems with this but that's for another time).

Zato-1's emotionless is supposed to be a remnant of his experiencing and being burnt out from all forms of emotion while down in the underworld. However, it's two things about it that bug me:

-when he's not talking about Millia, he's waxing poetic and I do not trust the average person to properly write nihilism because they always wax poetic while doing so which makes an already irritating thing to have to listen to, because most write it wrong, even more annoying.

-Millia's been living a normal life for 6 years and suddenly she's fallen too far behind in strength with the others so now Zato's going to dedicate himself to becoming her bodyguard because she's the only thing that activates his ennui, like he's a lich and she's the phylactery where his soul is. Millia takes grievance with not being seen as strong enough to fight alongside the assassins and then after the fight, finds out she's fallen behind. There is no grievance taken with the idea that Zato is only doing this to pretty much for himself and not to, at the very least, make up for trying to kill her like thrice in the past.

Xrd plants something with Zato's Xrd stage 7 dialogue having him realize he could try to live for something else, only for his Stage 8 dialogue to go back on that and have Slayer praise him for basically being content with desiring only one thing; Millia. Strive doesn't touch on that again in the arcade mode, though it does have Zato learn to fight in tandem with Millia rather than trying to protect her from every fight.

And it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that Zato's actions have huge consequences in the canon. Faust does less than Zato and suffers in his own torment until he 'dies' in Strive. Despite this, the Good Doctor goes out of his way to nurse people back to health as penance. Testament went into self-exile for bringing back Justice, Baldhead and Zato, even though they were not in full control of their own mind due to Justice controlling all Gears' minds minus Sol. Despite this, Testament still bothers to protect the Grove and Dizzy from outsiders, not joining the humans once again until they felt like they can be a part of them. Millia herself says her sins are a permanent stain on her record and yet still resolves to reform the Guild. So why bring back a character, in two games with all the themes of redemption and seeing past the bad stuff you did in the past, and write him as the most apathetic guy in any case that does not involve protecting Millia? Why waste time trying to absolve him of his crimes in the weakest way possible? Let him deal with everyone moving on from his negativity and toxic vibes, let him hear a mouthful from Chipp in his win quotes, let him have to actually work to make amends with those he's hurt. Instead we have a blank slate of a character with the most monotone of voices and motives.

And I do like the flat responses to everything and the monotone voice; it's comedic. And Zato himself is a top-tier character beyond just his voice. His gameplay is interesting, he's a great B-Story villain for affecting seven important characters (eddie, millia, venom, slayer, faust, chipp, answer [by way of chipp]), his design is popping and he's kind of a milf. reblog. The problem is post-X2 Zato is interesting in-game but literal flat bread in-story.

he still cute tho, and i would love to see any future content with him separate him from millia and give him more time with eddie, especially with eddie deciding to be the most shaped creature now (and unintentionally the funniest). you're not dealing with his past crimes, at least make him worthwhile to see in the story beyond being a general nuisance to his and Millia's lore.

rp  pet  peeves  /  dealbreakers :  it’s always been , for me , muse collecting or fc collecting. like within a group with no muse cap , people who snap up the most Aesthetic fcs and have 8765 of them , barely use them or they’re all the same character seasoned slightly different .. and in the indie world it’s that and when people like ?? duplicate storylines that you worked hard to create with a different muse/mun without even checking? i’ve had so many ideas stolen that way. another one of mine that’s always been an issue is when you put in a lot of effort to establish details and content to give your partner ample things to react and interact with and then they give you back like ... two lines and maybe three syllables of dialogue. and also people fetishising my masc muses and leaving my fem muses to the wind , ick , get ready to catch an unfollow and the dropped threads if i feel that way.

fluff,  angst,  or  smut :  it’s angst , smut and then fluff for me — my muses dont lend themselves to over-softness and fluffiness , i usually have one ( lia flowers rn ) who is a softer character but just happy-life-no-drama-wholesomeness bores me ajkf gimme chaos and something i can delve into and explore the ic reactions , monologues , psychology , etc of it.

plots  or  memes :  i always live in fear of the mistake of over-plotting ... like when you flesh out so many ideas that the concept of writing through the known journey and storyline loses its appeal. i like a good skeleton plot and context and then to let the muses flow as they see fit , i have definitely grown to love the meme threads because i feel like it’s a perfect way to dry-run your muses against another - whether an au or not.

volume XI thoughts

I did in fact have access to this on Tuesday and started to play but then got distracted and didn't finish until like 2am when I couldn't sleep anyway (this was a mistake I was so tired at work)

movie night!!! And fun movie night titles!! ofc MC doesn't get her own custom one bc everyone's got different names but my MC is named Maya and with how things have been going I'm pretending her movie title is Messy Messy Maya 🤭

Emel and Oakley both being unfaithful in casa but finding (forcing?) their way back to each other and forgiving each other feels very much like something in the show so I appreciate that storyline tbh

Felicity is too beautiful of a sprite to waste as a Casa girl that only shows up for movie night.

Sienna going "I don't care if it's egotistical, pick my movies" because no one else is gonna care to pick hers 😬😬 id feel bad for her if she wasn't so mean

Hari and Hazel are so cute together but it seems like it's gonna die out soon 🥲 Like I see why if Hazel is panicking and Hari isn't the most reassuring guy and also not completely over MC but aghhh he's gonna fumble Hazel to LIAM. Hazel, not LIAM plsss

Absolutely awful that Liam is so funny bc he's such a piece of shit (awful in the best way, like he's so Messy Mitch from LI UK s10 coded and while I don't like him I appreciate the fun he brings). Saw someone suggest that he could be a late game LI and if he evolves and changes, sure, but a lot is gonna need to happen, otherwise give him a last minute jokey option like Hamish.

I think the thing stopping me from going full in on this Claudia route is she keeps going back to Theo, and not like she has to be pursuing MC 100% for me to pick her but I'm just getting mixed signals with her trying to save her relationship with Theo when they clearly aren't into each other anymore but there are plenty other people around.

Not on a Theo route and haven't talked to him but ngl his little video clip was cute like I almost jumped ship to be messy but nahh. I wonder how that's like if you're actually pursuing him though like does it feel like pay off or shock or reassurance or anything.

very nice they had Jin spell it out to Sienna in front of everyone. like kind of mean, but if it was gonna happen at any time, Movie night is definitely the time to do it.

Like even MC's movie clip playing, first of all was just if she slept with someone in casa I think (which, it's fair enough considering the game's limitations but I was missing all the other times she hoed around). So for my MC it was with Claudia, and Claudia barely has a response to it. And so I'm kinda just going towards the character actively pursuing and paying attention at this moment and it's Jin.

I guess MC was honest to Jin so he didn't mind the movie night thank God but also I want to replay to see the drama unfold. but in my head for some reason he'd be shocked it was Claudia bc she didn't say anything and like it'd be one thing if it was someone she just met like Max who she's been friendzoning ever since but another thing for it to be her best friend in the Villa. but alas, that is a large amount of branching and coding and dialogue to write so I'll let it slide.

a recoupling so soon after?? it's not like the season feels too rushed, but like I mentioned before, the pack in so many things in each volume you don't get much of a chance to chill out with the characters and pretend it's a vacation for your character lol

the problem with me playing early is I'm so curious how everyone else's game went. like is it only your OG LI or Casa Boy that can pick you?? And the chat you have with your partner after, does that lock your route because after this I feel there was a little bit less attention on MC from the other LI's (which I don't mind, so they can have their own stories now, but I wanna knowwww)

Like it can be a shitty costume but I understand people not wanting to pay gems for one outfit for one night of the game.

Such a minor detail, but I do love that despite her being so awful to MC, that Sienna canonically is a very conservative dresser. like we all see her churchy outfits. and I think maybe she's a little insecure about her body and stuff. that being said, the dialogue she has when she's in costume about feeling confident, and her costume isn't super revealing, and the girls being shocked at her dance, is all very good to have. like it's nice to have that type of character around and the fact that she's also the villain rn? she contains multitudes (or I'm reading into it too hard 😂)

And now Claudia and Bea flirting with each other? Okayyy I mean my fingers are crossed so here's hoping they find each other if not MC. and they have a lot in common but feel like different characters so like pls let them be together (I say this as someone every few months posting about how it shouldve been Cora and Angie not friendzoned Oliver and Angie in the s4 finale)

ok but his entrance feels so overshadowed by other things going on though like I feel like he didn't get a chance to really bombshell to the point where I think he should've been introduced next volume instead. like have him have a normal bombshell entrance with dates or smth, then maybe when they're all chilling the next day and getting to know him someone brings up he missed heart rate challenge and they suggest he dances for the characters he's most interested in, if we really wanted to get his messy entrance in.

Two unfortunate things are true in my mind: Logan is very attractive (at least when he's got the hat on) and also he looks like Liam 🫣

and finally, tarlos.... I was kinda over their whole story, but Iris disappearing makes it interesting tbh, so far it's been boring - hope it'll get even better!

so, tbh I liked this one more than 4x01 and I hope that now it'll get better and better haha

2022 animated movies ranking

I’ve seen all the animated movies that I wanted to see this year, so here’s my official 2022 ranking.

Lightyear: The more I think about this film, the more plot holes I notice and the more I dislike it. It just feels like such a hollow and near lifeless movie that just completely misses imo. From the plot conveniences/lazy writing and predictable plot, to the worldbuilding that either comes off as minimalist or confusing, to the shallow characters- I just feel no connection at all. I like Sox and Izzy alright, but I reaaaally don’t like Mo. I get he’s supposed to be the Screw-Up of the team who gets better, but he just so annoying. Buzz is also really annoying and not charismatic whatsoever. The twist villain is so stupid, and you can tell that they cared more about the ~symbolism~/theme than the actual character/story regarding the twist. So much of this movie is just dull and frustrating with all it’s missed potential, and I have no desire to watch it again. 4/10

My Father’s Dragon: it’s a cute enough modern fairy tale with really great animation, music and voice acting. I really like the lesson of the story, and I like the small subversions that kept things interesting. The dragon was a bit annoying, but it was still a fun enough experience. 6/10

Wendell & Wild: really cool concept with some interesting characters and good social commentary. Really great soundtrack and absolutely stellar animation. I just wish the story was more fleshed out and the pacing was better, as the third act really does feel rushed, which kinda messes with an otherwise emotional ending. 6.5/10

Turning Red: it’s your average pixar movie tbh. I like the chemistry between the four girls, and I can appreciate the story that the movie is trying to tell/themes it’s trying to focus on. It does a lot of things well enough and there’s nothing I hate, there’s just nothing im super in love with either. I’m glad it exists, it’s just not completely my cup of tea. 6.5/10

Strange World: much better than I was expecting, ngl. The worldbuilding was really interesting, and I ended up getting fairly invested in the movie’s characters and relationships, which weren’t nearly as annoying or cliche as I thought they’d be. I just wish that the dialogue could’ve been more natural in some parts, as there were some exposition and conversation scenes that felt kiiiiinda forced. Some of the jokes are kinda lame too, but it’s never TOO bad thankfully. It’s a cool enough adventure with genuine heart that, again, plays better and hits harder than the lame trailers would make you believe. Also, NO TWIST VILLAIN!! Hallelujah. 7.5/10

DC League of Super Pets: as a DC fan, I can definitely appreciate all the little Easter eggs and poking fun at DC itself. Very hilarious movie when it wants to be. Characters and story was really cute, action was good, I like Supes and Lois just being together with there not being any relationship drama, and Ace’s backstory actually hit me a bit harder than I thought it would. However, the story was pretty predictable, most of the side characters weren’t super fleshed out, and I can’t listen to Lex Luthor in this movie without hearing Mr. Snake, lol. I came for cute pets and superhero shenanigans, and I got what I wanted. 7.5/10

The Bob’s Burgers Movie: definitely a movie made for the fans. Some really great characters moments, even if some beats feel familiar, but man the 3rd act gets DARK. Lots of excitement, good music, really good jokes, fantastic animation and just so much else to enjoy. 8/10

Dragon ball Super Hero: it may be your typical DBZ fare, but it’s still a lot of fun. I love the adorable dynamic between Pan and Piccolo, there’s a ton of awesome action, and I really like the new characters introduced in the film. Zeno Robinson’s VA performance is a highlight, and the film is just a really entertaining time that manages to remain interesting even when the 3rd act just turns into an extended action scene. I’m not a mega-huge DBZ fan, but I like it well enough. I also thought the ending stinger was hilarious, lol. 8/10

Minions 2 the Rise of Gru: my guilty pleasure movie of the year because I’m a sucker for the found family trope. I really like the relationship between Gru and Wild Knuckles, the minions are just as funny and cute as ever, the action is a ton of fun, and despite it being spoiled in the trailers the 3rd act is a real highlight. Lil Gru is adorable, and I just enjoy him being a mischievous and super endearing scrunko (idk if I’m using that word right :P). Sometimes I just need something silly and fun, and this movie hits that itch just right. 8/10

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: This movie absoLUTELY lived up to the first film! All the Sonic stuff was really cool and fun, the wedding stuff was hilarious, I loved all the focus on friendship/family and coming together, the action was really great, and it made me laugh just as much as the first film. It’s the type of movie that makes you feel like a kid again ^v^ Super Sonic is still an amazing scene to watch, and the ending is adorableeee. My only criticism is that sometimes the pacing can feel just a teeeeeny bit off and I wish there was a bit more focus on Tales. Kinda sucks he gets knocked unconscious for like 15mins. Can’t wait for the 3rd movie, I REALLY want Omar Benson Miller (Raph from RotTMNT) to voice Shadow. 8.5/10

Rise of the TMNT Movie: while I agree that the s2 finale was a better conclusion, I thought the movie was still really good. I’m able to forgive some so-so writing and lack of series references just because the emotional moments hit That Hard. The action and animation is as stellar as its always been, I really like Casey Jr., and while it sucks that he got Kraangified for most of the movie, Raph was the highlight of the film for me in that his VA (as well as the VA for the main Kraang) just went SO HARD, their voice acting was so freaking good. Also this movie let Mikey be a mystic badass and I’m happy about that because he deserves it. It does kinda suck that so much of the movie is focused on Leo, and that some bits like Don merging with the Kraang ship were kinda rushed through. Not a perfect film by any means, but there’s enough good to overshadow the bad for me (even if I’m getting reaaaaally tired of all the Leo angst that this movie inspired :/) 8.5/10

Puss in boots 2 - the last wish: HOLY CRAP THIS MOVIE WAS SPECTACULAR!! The animation, lighting and action was just an incredible visual spectacle. The movie also hit me super hard both in terms of how much it made me laugh (there is a LOT of dark humor, omfg) and how much it just hit me right in the feels. (Redacted) AKA the Wolf was one of my favorite parts of the movie. Speaking of which, the themes in this film were really strong, which in turn made Puss’ character arc SO GOOD! The characters in general just all worked off each other well, you fall in love with the main trio so easily and I love that both Dreamworks films this year had a total bastard as the villain. Honestly, it reminded me a lot of the first Shrek film in that there was a ton there for both kids and adults to really enjoy/take a lot away from. My only complaint is a fairly minor one, in that I thought the 1st act was just a bit slow going, though I completely understand why it was paced the way it was. Also, once this movie gets going, IT GETS GOING. 9/10

The Bad Guys: I’m gonna fully admit that I’m probably biased, given my love of found family AND heist movies. But idc, I freaking LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I love the characters and their dynamics, I love the story and themes, I love the great animation and action, I love the humor, I love the emotional beats, I love the music (Good Tonight is SUCH a bop), the twist at the end with Snake’s double-cross was AMAZING - I really could just go on and on. I’ve already watched this movie 3-4 times, and I will happily watch it again ^v^ it’s just a ton of fun, I love it so much. I guess technically PiB is the better movie, but I connect to Bad Guys and it’s characters more, so Bad Guys is my fave of the year ^v^ 9/10

I started reading it during the hiatus between s2 and s3 which was the most painful experience ever to not be able to continue reading after that season finale 😭 it was soooo good but it also hurt so fucking bad.

At first I started reading because I loved the premise, especially seeing the lies in the dialogue through Lauren’s pov. It’s just chef’s kiss, a fantastic story telling device for mystery plots. But I stayed for Lauren und Kieran (and all the other characters I love all of them so much) because they are both so precious and how is it possible that they just check all my favorite ship tropes 😭 I hope we get to know more about Kieran’s past this season but on the other hand if I’m going to see him upset or miserable I’ll tear this earth apart. Also I’m very intrigued about Dakan since I’m obsessed with the snapdragon plot but I’m scared at the same time because that whole part has already kicked my ass with drama

AND can we talk about the music? I’m OBSESSED

S2 finale hurt like a bitch ngl! it hurt to much to see them like that. dude Laurent and Kieran realized things about themselves in that factory so much. they care about each other so much ANON THEY NEED TO KISS AND GET SOME ALREADY! THE SEXUAL TENSION IS OFF THE CHARTS IN SEASON 3 TOOOOOO.

I am really concerned about Kieran cuz of what leader said about him 😭and Lauren too cuz people from P.S. know about her and and I hope Bella doesnt touch any of them or i'll kill her myself!

Some thoughts on DE skills

Espirit du Corps: My GOAT. Loved seeing flashbacks of my cop lives before amnesia. Also telepathy with Kim is such a powerful, uh, power.

Inland Empire: Also really great! Loved that it constantly reminded me of my ex wife

Encyclopedia: Autism infodump so true. Extremely useful if you want to flirt with Kim with your prowess of Kineema knowledge. But ngl, for a first time player the infodump can get so overwhelming lol. I ended up skipping some of the dialogues because I wasn't used to the DE world yet :(

Shivers: Still overwhelming even after multiple playthroughs. But when it hits, oh yeah it hits. Especially when it foreshadowed stuff. "LOOK UNDER THE FLOORBOARD" I genuinely got chills.

Conceptualization: I'm an art cop so Hell Yea loved this skill. Also good for jokes n stuff. Most importantly Tommy's poetry, which somehow made removing The Expression easier?? +4 modifier holy shit??????

Drama: Always looking forward to this skill being used, but sadly it's not as often as I'd like u_u lying to Evrart about Gary's apartment is very satisfying though, since technically you didn't lie at all lol

Half Light: Let's beat up some football players

Electrochemistry: I'm a sweet lil baby so I don't see much of this skill u_u sorry i dont want to disappoint Slippin Kimmy

Authority: Obviously a legendary skill for the tribunal. Outside of that, it's pretty fun too!

Empathy: Oh yeah loved this skill so much. Discovering secret sensitive side of people you met is great. My fav is of course Cuno and Steban! Cuno is obvious but I find it sweet that deep inside Steban just wanted his mom to live in a better world

My thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet (and Violet)

So I just beat the main story of Scarlet the other day, and I think I’ll weigh in on it all. Obviously, spoilers below, so proceed with caution.

Right of the bat, the performance and graphics need to be addressed as the elephants in the room. I personally found that the performance was only really bad in specific areas, like that one bamboo forest area. The graphics varied from “meh” in some areas to completely hideous in others, with camera clipping and lighting flickering being very common, though ultimately these didn’t impact my enjoyment of the game too heavily.

Difficulty wise, I can say that it drops off pretty quickly, with it only becoming a challenge during boss battles, like with gym leaders, rivals, the elite four, etc. The lack of the ability to change your battle style to “set” along with most trainers and gym leaders having no more than three pokemon really doesn’t do much to help this. The Team Star bosses were some of the most difficult battles in my experience.

The world itself has some good bones to it, but sometimes it feels empty, especially in the towns, the one place you think shouldn’t be empty. The lack of interiors to buildings really hurts the game, as having the ability to explore every nook and cranny of the towns and cities in previous titles really made them special, and talking to every NPC as well. In SV, this is all pushed to the side, with many shops having only GUIs pop up once you enter the door, and almost all non-shop or plot important buildings being non-enterable. The most horrible example is the 5 skyscrapers in the electric type gym’s city. All are modeled, referenced in npc dialogue, and yet they don’t do anything other than to add something to the landscape.

The the new pokemon designs are some of the strongest ones I’ve seen in years. I adore the regional variants as well as the new pokemon (Clodsire, Lokix, and Maushold being some of my favorites.), though the starters I am 50/50 on. 

The designs for significant NPCs like the rivals, teachers, and gym leaders were all great, and the designs for non-significant npcs (like the various trainer classes) were also pretty good. I do like that they had some variations within the trainer classes in terms of hair color, skin tone, etc. Also there are more body types represented. Particularly a lot of muscular ones (I will not elaborate on how this makes me feel)

Now for the story (MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW)

The story itself seemed to start out fairly average for a pokemon title, but it quickly ramped up. The Path of Titans and Starfall Street arcs definitely gave this vibe off right away. Arven’s desire to make his Mabosstiff feel better again was really sweet, and seeing the motivations and drama behind the origins of team star and its bosses definitely made me sympathize with them. I quickly speculated the Cassiopeia was Penny, and by the time it was formally revealed in the plot, it was less of a “AHAH I KNEW IT! >:D” response and more of a “Oh.... I knew it... ;-;” one. Plus Penny turned out to be a literal cybercriminal who stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of league points from the pokemon league, which is kinda based ngl.

The main storyline following Korraidon and later Area Zero is what I consider to be the strongest story pokemon has told in years, especially in the final parts. Finding out why Professor Sada left Arven alone for all those years, the true nature and goals behind her research, and learning more about Arven, Nemona, and Penny whilst travelling through an extremely surreal area with an eerie soundtrack definitely struck me. but nothing could prepare me for that finale.

It turns out that Sada succeeding in making her time machine, but is now dead, she had thrown herself in front of Korraidon to protect it from another more aggressive one she had brought through the machine from the past. The Sada we were communicating with was actually an AI, a literal android. The pokemon that had been brought through the portal would innevitably ruin the ecosystem if they made it out onto the surface, but the original Sada insisted that she would make it work, to create a paradise. The AI even recognized that her ideas were flawed, but was programmed to prevent the machine from being shut down. Resulting in a battle between her and the player (with one of the most amazing battle songs that Pokemon has ever had), along with a second battle where only Korraidon had the ability to fight (leading it to break free of its fear and return to its battle form). only to realize that AI Sada is one of the failsafes for the machine, it would not deactivate with her still there. So after saying her goodbyes to the gang as well as telling Arven that she is proud of him, she goes through the machine, to the past (something that Sada originally desired), and being that she was no longer present, the machine was able to shut down.

If that doesn’t sound like it belongs in a Pokemon game, I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that, but I feel that it is one of the most emotional and somewhat dark stories pokemon has told, and I like that.

Now that spoilers are out of the way, I want to discuss the music briefly. Toby Fox seems to be becoming a regular part of Game Freak’s music team and I hope that it continues to be that way, his influence within much of the game’s soundtrack is obvious, especially the final battle against AI Sada. I look forward to seeing any future work he will do in possible SV DLC and future Pokemon titles.

My final rating is probably a 7 out of 10. The story, designs, and music were insanely good, but the lackluster graphics, absence of even the most basic difficulty options (like set battle style, level scaling, exp share, etc.), and the various performance issues and graphical bugs slightly impacted my experience negatively. Hopefully updates and patches will solve the bugs and performance issues, but I don’t have high hopes for the graphics or difficulty improving until the next titles.
