My grandparents used to live in an 18th-century house right next to a forest. It had thick stone walls, high ceilings, and double-sided doors. We had to vacate it after my grandpa died 11 years ago. I still miss it terribly. I drove by last week and took these photos.
There was also a VERY wide staircase we used to slide down with my brother and the house had several entrances, one from each side. there was a large garden with fruit trees where my granddad tended to a beehive, a flower garden, a vegetable garden, a yard, and barns for animals. I miss that house. I remember its smells and sounds, every creak of wood and metal. There was no central heating, just three of the rooms had a little stove you had to tend to throughout the day and night. I remember falling asleep to the sound of the fire in the stove, comfortable in the knowledge nothing could harm me there, even if outside there were heaps of snow and dark, dark woods. And even those woods were magic.
I loved that house. If I ever found myself rich, I would do anything to buy it back. To renew it. To love it more.

Beltane's Cuppa
The thirteenth picture from my photo series Fancy a Cuppa? I took in April 2021 in my favorite abandoned garden.
(Because the festival of Beltane, the celebration of Spring and life is just behind the corner, and that's something positive and beautiful I want - and need - to think about right now.)

The fact that the Czech republic voted against the cease fire with it's history of being taken over by other countries throughout history is so baffling to me

Do you generally consider Eastern Europeans European, btw?
Yes of course.
Eastern Europe is in Europe.
It’s in the name.
