I love how Set in KC never got a redemption arc, he was a villain for one book and then spent the other two just vibing with the Kanes

yeah i'm excited for the kane chronicles movies but the fact we didn't get a tv show is upsetting only because when throne of fire gets adapted there won't be an episode called "camels are evil...but not as evil as romans"

*Sadie and Walt go to a cafe to drink something*
Sadie: Hi can we get a large strawberry milkshake and two straws?
Walt in the mind: Aww she's getting a milkshake with two straws so we can share it!
Sadie while putting both straws in her mouth: Look at how fast I can finish this milkshake
Walt:...

whenever I see a poll about "which riordan mythology series is the best?" and hoo is pulling way ahead of tkc, I just. i can't help but feel such disappointment. it's just such an underrated series. I mean it has its problems like each book and characters that riordan writes has, but when you think about how rr was releasing kane chronicles books back to back with the heroes of olympus series - the red pyramid then the lost hero, then the throne of fire and then son of neptune, etc. - the writing quality is so glaring. when it came to heroes of olympus, rr put too much food on his plate (so to speak) for him to handle with all the character arcs and hyping up gaia (when that battle only lasted what? 3 pages?), and his characters (ok not all but we know who) were hyped up to have these huge roles and then... where did that go?
the tkc trilogy's writing is just leagues better imo. honestly, just the characters alone showcase the quality of writing. i feel like they got fleshed out sm more than the newer characters introduced in hoo did. pacing is much better. if you haven't read the series, well - this is your sign to do so.

So, I'm 274 pages in the throne of fire, the second book of The Kane Chronicles, and I just wanted to note something,
I would literally die for Walt!! and lmao sometimes I think Sadie doesn't deserve neither him nor Anubis which is funny considering the endddd :')

The Kane Chronicles - Rick Riordan
These just took me so long to slog through. I really thought I was going to enjoy these but it was not to be. I had to take long breaks between each book, so it actually took me four months to get through the series. The only reason I persevered with them, is because there is a crossover book with Percy Jackson, and as I'm making my way through the PJ books, I want to get the full experience, reading all the crossovers, and in the right order!
I stormed through the first Percy Jackson series in five days, and although the second series took longer, I read all the books back to back. So I thought I'd have the same experience with these. There's only three, so I thought it would be easier, especially since I was 100% an Egyptian mythology kid when I was little (I still am, at heart).
For some reason, these just didn't work. The plot was nowhere near as good, and I think maybe it has to do with what was at stake? In PJO, the apocalypse didn’t really seem that important, the threat was to the demigods and their friends. But this series was massively about whether or not they'd prevent the end of the world, which... obviously they do.
I also hated the narration style. It's told as a dual POV, as a transcribed audio recording, with occasional aside comments between the pair. I hate that, it seems like something that would be better suited to a book aimed at six-year-olds, not twelve-year-olds. As an adult, this was an almost painful writing style to suffer. It's such a shame, because PJO is a first person narration that ages up alongside the main character - it's a delight to read. The Kane Chronicles are not.
It wasn't all bad. The characters were likeable, although other than the main two, there weren't that many characters worth noting. The mythology was fun to read about, and the gods and their powers worked in a very different way than the Greek gods in PJO, so it was nice to get some new lore for this series.
But on the whole, this was a necessary evil I had to slog through, and I definitely won't be recommending it to anyone.

More Books.
I just got a boxed set of the Kane Chronicles series, by Rick Riordan. It has 3 books: The Kane Chronicles, Book 1: The Red Pyramid; The Kane Chronicles, Book 2: The Throne of Fire and The Kane Chronicles, Book 3: The Serpent’s Shadow.

When Sadie found out that she can do magic, she tried out all of the spells that she can remember from Harry Potter. And Carter stood in the corner trying not to laugh while she miserably failed
And you cannot tell me otherwise
