Very funny to me how Stansas present her character as being so interesting and complex because of her vulnerabilities, while simultaneously ignoring those same vulnerabilities in other characters. Dany is sold as a bridal slave and lacks agency throughout AGOT and after. Her dragons are either too young/small to utilize effectively or locked away for the majority of the story. They aren't some all-powerful trump card that protects her from harm. Arya is captured as a prisoner of war, forced to watch countless people tortured and murdered, and then essentially enslaved in Harrenhal with no way to fight back. She has an entire arc of feeling powerless, of being a "mouse", during ACOK. She doesn't have "kung-fu" or the ability to magically fight her way out of every situation, she's a young child lacking physical strength with only the most basic sword training.
Sansa isn't the only female character, she isn't the only young character, she isn't the only character who suffered, and no one is obligated to prioritize her. I'm so tired of Dany and Arya being mischaracterized and having their stories erased to prop Sansa up. "Sansa has kept her dignity" In other words, let's praise her for having a level of security that Dany and Arya don't have access to. She hasn't ever been forced to make a hard decision which of course means that she's morally superior to them. They can't even admit to themselves that her lack of action is due to her own passivity. If it doesn't fit their delusion, they erase it from the story and expect the rest of us to play along. Ask one of them what they like about her character without bringing up her being the ultimate victim, and I genuinely don't believe they'd be able to give you an answer. They belittle other characters more than they talk about her and these takes just scream insecurity/jealousy at the content and development other characters have in their POVs.

I've read so much bucktommy tumblr posts and ao3 fics that I'm done with buddie. Maybe you should read some and be done with it too. It's ok to admit when you're wrong.
I don't ship buddie because Buck and Eddie are hot together. I ship them because they complement each other.
Buck has always been searching for a family, for stability, for someone to love, for someone to stay, for someone to love him completely and for someone to accept his love.
Eddie, has been stuck trying to take care of everybody, carry out their plans for him, always sacrificing himself for others, never allowing himself to get what he wants without feeling guilty, unable to express his emotions freely, reluctant to ask for help.
You know what’s the beauty of buddie, even as just friends? That in the first 3 episodes of season 2, the buddie dynamic was already stablished and it gave us so much characterization. Buck, wanting to be supportive, helped Eddie out by introducing him to Carla, checking in with Bobby so that Chris could stay at the station, driving Eddie to pick up Chris after the earthquake. And Eddie, who wouldn’t normally ask for help, not only accepts it but allows Buck to continue to take care of him and Chris.
Now compare all that characterization across 7 seasons, 7 years that we got to know these characters vs 5 scenes with Tommy... You can't tell me you give up on buddie after 4 episodes with a new character whose storyline could barely fill a paragraph and be taken seriously.
Like it's ok to admit you only wanted to see Oliver kiss a man and that's it. That's fine, but miss me with all this superiority complex with shipping bucktommy.
Yeah, you guys wrote 3000 fics and innumerable posts on tumblr filled to the brim with *check notes* tropey headcanon on top of horny headcanons, gender roles, and once again buck getting female coded with stereotypical bottom tropes. Fanon buddie bore me before, and I’m already done with fanon bucktommy aka Tommy “might as well be an OC” Kinard and Evan “self insert” Buckley.
Every single previous female love interest of Buck had more characterization than Tommy, but somehow *cough* misogyny *cough* Tommy has this insane fan support behind him by his 4th appearance. I wonder why?
I don't hate Tommy or the ship, but I'm sorry, he is not a fleshed out character, you guys just love how plain he is (so the headcanons are easier to apply) and how hot Lou is, because where was all this energy and push for a love interest to stay in the show, for any of the previous female love interests???
All this talk about how perfect the relationship is but when Natalia and Buck, who also had the same amount of scenes and development by her 3rd/4th episode, no one was rooting for her to stay.

i find the way fans are already shipping cooper with lucy over her black love interest very telling of the clueless white supremacy and media illiteracy in the fandom. coop and lucy are obviously being setup as a father-daughter duo who need to learn caution/kindness from each other to survive, but these weirdos can’t have their white-man fave without a self-insert stand-in for 1 season. and the way people are glorifying cooper’s character is a load of bs - a morally greg white guy who realises he endorsed and was sympathetic to a massive war crime/political injustice… so he goes on to indiscriminately kill/hurt more people who have no idea of, nor say in the bigger picture that he was complicit in… is sooo boring and nothing new. also, giving him a biracial daughter as an accessory to show he’s Not Racist isn’t something we’ve seen half of a million fuckin times before 🤪 the way the show back-tracked on fallout’s message of blind american nationalism and militarism being a problem to It’s All Capitalism’s Fault, seemingly in reaction to the US currently endorsing and aiding in foreign war crimes, and past ones becoming common-knowledge, is horseshit on a platter.
I find the complete lack of a character for his daughter really horrifying- how she only exists to die dramatically for the sake of his sadness. It's odd because his wife is a well-established important character, yet their daughter is not allowed to be a person.
Fallout, in general, has had a habit of completely ignoring racism- presenting the prewar world as some fully integrated post racism utopia. Which is weird when the games regularly display overt anti Chinese (and broader anti Asian) sentiments in prewar logs and ads. This is a problem both the classic games AND the bethesda games have- racism has always been a touchy subject to the devs of the series and it seems like every game they've been content to ignore it, occasionally invoking it for horror or stumbling headlong into depicting it without realizing.
The way Ghoulgins regrets his past and just takes it out on everyone around him is absurd and plays into a lot of very hostile ideas the character peddles.
People shipping Ghoulgins with Lucy is baffling to me also considering he spends the entire series physically abusing her. People just don't want to acknowledge Max's existence, I have noticed. I know her and Ghoulgins get closer by the end, but it's after he's done just unspeakably cruel things to her- and you're right that it is absolutely framed as a father/daughter relationship.
I would also like to point out that the series has always criticized capitalism as well- but would generally frame it as sort of tangled up in American imperial ambition- with one feeding into the other. They were two halves of the same coin.
Vault Tec's entire existence in the classic games was selling smoke- profiting off of the extreme tension and stress of US military buildup- a process which would always inevitably end in disaster: either with Vault Tec going under or brinksmanship coming to its inevitable end.
Vault Tec (and the entire idea of luxury bunkers as a whole) WAS a critique of capitalism, and how it goes hand-in-hand with the American military industrial complex. It was selling the fear of annihilation to the populace. They didn't need to be some secretive controlling force to achieve any of this.
Making Vault Tec the sole antagonist, and the driving force of the apocalypse, is both deeply conspiratorial AND undermines the Cold War roots the series has always had- replacing the fear of American military buildup with a sort of hateful simplicity.

Addressing some fandom BS inconsistencies
Gwyn was shadow mommy, Az was shadow daddy, they were gonna have shadow babies with her extra super pliable bones.
I audibly chocked when I read this @nikethestatue (btw everything said in this post was on point). No but seriously this is how they sound, too many of them insisting that there is nothing wrong with basing the likelihood of a ship on who has the more suitable uterus to be with a man... cause supposedly they're just picking up on the hints SJM wrote for them? She likes babies for HEAs so ofc children are the end all be all of a relationship, plus there's absolutely no way that she could ever write an adoption plot SJM is literally adopted and has done it in other series. Selective reading strikes again.
A minimum amount of critical thinking would tell you that 1) the infamous *magical uterus change* scene was about nessian (& feysand), not about any ship; 2) if SJM had written Nesta changing Elain's uterus, it would have given too much away, not to mention 3) how disturbing/violating it would have been for Nesta to change her sister's reproductive anatomy WITHOUT HER CONSENT?! None of it makes sense narratively; my girl Nes would never, especially given the trauma they both suffered from having their bodily autonomy--and so much more--ripped away by the Cauldron.
This argument is so trivialized that I see it every other day on reddit/tiktok/*insert media app*, and yet elriels are the toxic side of the fandom? The ones whom people are allowed to insult, to ridicule for theories all made in good fun, the women that are villainized over a difference of opinion? Don't get me wrong, there's assholes on both sides and people keep calling one another variations of delulu (and the nastier personal attacks). But by painting this fandom-wide villain there is such a lack of accountability for the plethora of harmful talking points spread by other portions of the fandom. (I've been silently reading the anti-elain & anti-elriel tags for like a year, and I'm on tiktok. Yes, I have self-destructive tendencies).
Anyways.
I never understood either how people ever actually thought (or well still think) that gwynriel would happen BEFORE elucien?? It makes no sense logically, narratively, or in terms of characterization & the arc she's set up for Elain, Azriel, and Lucien. Yet it took one controversial bonus chapter for people to decenter Elain in her own story, that is make her choice of romantic partner--which SJM spent 3+ books setting up--Azriel's. It took one bonus chapter that soo many readers are still unaware of, to brush Elain off as a "sexual object" Az is using to distract himself until his therapist-extraordinaire Gwyn comes in and heals him all up. Because ofc she will: she's badass and not the "passive and weak and boring" Eplain (aka "Plant" or "brain dead gardener"), she fits the YA archetype of the spunky warrior-girl so she can handle his darkness, and SJM supposedly spent time fleshing her out because she wrote her as a LI for Azriel; she's made for him, she is what he needs to grow (I actually enjoyed Gwyn's character btw, just pointing out how silly it all sounds). “Next book is a love triangle between Elain/Az/Gwyn” “Elain will turn evil or is secretly evil”. So you're telling me that SJM would pit Elain & Gwyn against each other in a love triangle over a man... all because of a necklace that was not even mentioned once in the actual books? Please, let's be logical for a second.
All this because instead of reading the bonus chapter in the context of the books, some people are reading the books in the context of the bonus chapter. Which now that I think of it is probably why so many people mischaracterize Az the way they do--because yes we know enough of his character to know half of the stuff the fandom diagnoses him with is questionable. Azriel? Entitled incel x fuckboy hybrid (gotta be the first of his kind, minute slay ig)? Interesting tell me more. No joke I saw a semi-popular post on here where a gwynriel said they read the bonus WITHOUT HAVING READ ANY OF THE BOOKS. I'm sorry, ship wars are silly and believe it or not idc who ppl ship, but it makes it hard to take some of the things they say seriously.
All this to say that the fandom isn't even debating the right thing. If you consider everything SJM has said in her interviews:
(she's been planting seeds for Nesta & Elain's book since acomaf; she knows who she is writing the first 2 books about + is keeping things open for the 3rd one--with 5 different ship options--which automatically rules out "Elain will close the series"; she said she's doing research for Elain's book in the ACOFAS bonus & there's seeds for future bookS in acofas; all she said recently about her beloved *heroines* and the themes of fate/true love/choice she finds *very* interesting & wants to discuss)
and if you also consider all she's written in the actual books (elain's characterization + the overarching plot in general & how she fits into it), then it's pretty evident that Elain's book is next.
The question then would be who is the MMC / 2nd PoV in her book, aka would acotar 5 be an elucien or an elriel story? Because logically, gwynriel was always a consequence of elucien. I honestly do not understand how people don't see that.
Oh and they always think they're gagging elriels with the "obviously Azriel is the next MC" as if elriels aren't saying the same thing? And we're the ones twisting info and not making sense. It's just funny at this point.
---sidenote: I realize that this post generalizes some things, and I just wanted to say that I have interacted with lovely eluciens / people on either side of this headache of a ship war. My hard limit is Elain haters though... back off I say 🤺 BACK OFF 🤺
---sidenote 2: I would have written this as a reblog except im not entirely sure how tumblr works and I get no visibility from them rip.

heya do you got any oc's or anything? like funger oc's n stuff? i'm obsessed with oc's
*since this post mentions her relationship with pocketcat, implied csa warning. also she's depressed so suicide warning ig*
Also. this is 2k words. waow.
Not specifically funger OCs, but I do have a self insert character that I've put in the funger universe!
Tumblr media
(the hair is supposed to be black btw it looks more brown to go better with the colour pallette)
I welcome you to- uh. Right. *Turns to face her* You don't have a name. It's been what, fuckin' 3 years? You still haven't decided anything? Oh, now it's kinda maybe meaningful for your character to have no name? Poetic shit? Yeah sure. *Turns back to face you* So, no name. For our sakes, I'll call her Unnamed Girl(ie). UG for short.
She was a human that suddenly got snatched from Earth and put into a white void. And she was trapped there. With memories of nothing. Why she has no name. Well she has some vague memories of her previous life, like her being fatherless, she doesn't remember any names, faces. Just some interactions.
We dunno what the hell happened to Earth nor her, really, all we can assume is that there's probably some sadistic ass higher being that's putting her through that shit? Watching her suffer every moment here. But, we never got to know. They don't really matter to us really, they've never showed up. Not important.
In the white void, she also gained. Some sort of Godhood? She got powers of some sort. So that's one upside. Downside with this is that she's immortal. And as you see, a white void. Is well. A white void. Nothin in it. Sure, she's made a room for herself to get comfy but then you start to go insane with the fact that you're isolated and that there's no one to talk to and you have no purpose in life and that it feels like you were an unwanted part of the universe that wasn't meant to ever be existing but yet you still do, and then erm she can't take it anymore and tries to. Off herself. Multiple times, in fact!
Too bad for her, immortality exists. Or perhaps better called, eternal youth. She hasn't aged since she got here. Perpetually 12, what a hell to be in, huh buddy? Fucked up thing to add on, the way her immortality works is that she suffers the wounds, damage, pain, before her body starts to regrow it back. (Usually like a minute but if she pushes it, it can be instantaneous.)
After a few days in the white void she starts conjuring up friends in her head to try and combat the eternal loneliness. Barely works. She's got three guys in her head, that talk to her from time to time. They're pretty flat and 2D in personality, UG really isn't that much of a creative girl.
Tumblr media
(Oohh tumblr compression...)
So, with these characters, let's show you how horrible she is at naming, hm? We got the furry one, Kats. Sadistic and mean one. Guy with the hat is Meowzerz. Cheerleader, also tries to advise UG to be kind. Gas masked fellow is Koolmeow. Wild card, she does whatever she finds fun. Mostly burning things up.
Really shitty names for those last two. No wonder she hasn't picked a name for herself if these are the names she gave these mfs.
...
Well, fuck. Friends aren't really friend-ing great unfortunately. What to do?
Oh, lookie that. That's a buncha.. games and anime. Huh. Well, might as well get through them. All this white is awfully boring.
So after some days of hell, she got to see stories she's vaguely familiar with. Must been stories she experienced back in her previous life. Entertainment is entertainment.
With nothing else in the void really, she gets heavily attached to these media. Filling her time with making fanart and obsessing over the characters. Three in particular she got attached to, but only one of them is of importance considering where we're headed to in this timeline.
Ahh the cat. The horrid horrid cat. I mean she's a young child, having a man tell him she loves her even when it's just a character written by someone else to be a creepy piece of shit is. Well a charming and interesting specimen such as him sharing affection? She can't help but reciprocate back.
With all the time in this non-existence, she makes a whole shrine of shit. Plushies, posters, figures. She loves recreating his likeness and having something physical to hold. Well, she is most well versed in digital art. That she does remember about herself. She was an artist. And most of him is drawn in a computer over and over again. She has no other way to show her love other than to put him in silly situations and emulate how he reacts. Yes I do mean fanfiction. She has a lotta files of just art of him she made, you don't wanna know how big it is.
Even besides him, she's pretty enamoured with this world of Funger. She'd much rather go through that hell than this hell. At least you can die there. And things actually happen.
...
Oh? We can finally go out? After all this time?
You really did get to find a way out, Kats?
It's.. Ahah. The multiverse thing does actually exist, doesn't it? This.. this is the dungeon...
...
Ah, so much explaining her backstory and I haven't gotten to her personality! Well she's. Seriously mentally ill for one. Isolation for god knows how long and all that. I can only conclude Depression or some variation of it for now, though there is definitely another mental disorder at play here. Erm. We might never know. I don't think she'll ever go to therapy or a psychiatrist.
Due to her being in that void for so long, and with barely any memories, there's some things that she's real bad at. Of course, she retains her memory of how to walk, how to speak and communicate, and most basic human things.
However, this bitch cannot social interaction. How unfortunate, my friend.
She can be very blunt and clear with her words. Oh she also has this stupid thing where she's either really crass and informal or just talks fancy and with a thesaurus. Fucking weirdo. can't talk normal ever.
Next note, she has no respect for anyone. That's not to say she doesn't appreciate anyone's company, she definitely likes a good amount of people. Thing is, since she saw this all in a game she played and saw as fiction. Little dolls for her to play with. She never really got to get out of that thinking. Also that with her being some sorta higher being? Yeah, she thinks a little high of herself. Sometimes. Sometimes. (She also think she's the worst thing ever that existed lmao)
Adding on, she also possesses no self respect. No shame. No dignity. No regrets about anything ever. She just lives on. She's a very YOLO it is what it is kinda gal.
UG has a very normal perception of love. She thinks of violence as a sort of love language to her, she just wants to rip her beloveds to shreds. She also has an intense hatred for the cat, despite him being the one she loves most. The hatred plays along with her obsession of the cat. Also. Um. Yandere. yeah. She's obsessive. Isolation and all that. Makes you intensely crave affection and attention. And also being a child. Forever. Yeah she's quite an attention whore. (self label)
Other effects from the isolation also happen to be extreme boredom. She wants to do anything. In her life. And hey, she's got a lot if it to spare.. plany of time. It is mildly boring her that she knows she's most likely gonna win any battle with enemies but still, the experience of fighting is pretty banger. The adrenaline... Thrill seeking. Ahh... She loves fighting.
So um, with those last two paragraphs, she does normal things to both the party that dared step into the dungeon, and the termina contestants. She's normal about them. She is both heavily protective and extremely violent murder maim.
Ah, next thing! She's quite the contradictory thing. Mental disorder again, she can go from one extreme scale to another. Like her love and hatred, protecting her allies to killing them. High self confidence and self praise to self loathing. Sometimes a little bit of a hypocrite. She's weird.
Her morals are. Eh. Eh. Again, she both cares about everyone's lives yet is also apathetic. She doesn't mind murder too much, as she'll dirty her soul a lot through experiencing the funger universe. This. Image.
Tumblr media
Everything might as well just be a game to her.
With all o' this. There's multiple timelines of her doing many different things because of how much she can vary and still be in character (well to me, at least). She can do so much. Silly girl.
--
That's all I can think of for now about personality! Little tidbits about her powers before onto the brief timeline. She has some future telling. If the future is far, she can see more possibilities it can go in, not giving an exact determined route of what will happen. If the future is soon, as in, will this guard swing at her right arm or her left arm in 5 seconds? She can check and the future will be certain, that it will be her left arm that will get cut if she doesn't prevent it.
Most of her powers stem from the other media she watched during the isolation period; she rarely uses the Gods' powers in funger purely to fuck around with it and also confuse smart asses. (enki)
--
After finding an escape from the white void, she wakes up in front of the.. dun dun dun... funger dungeons...
She does what any sane person would do and explores with glee.
They aren't really all that scary to a creature like her, only serving her to activate fight mode and get a rush.
She recruits everyone possible with her knowledge of these dungeons, and decides to change some things.
She approaches Pocketcat as she is done with her journey. There are no more battles to fight. No more exploration to be done in this dungeon. She is satisfied. The girl wishes for Pocketcat to eat her, since she hasn't tried that method of killing herself. (Also because she is crushing hard on this man and she knows he loves her too)
He instead gives a different proposal...
...
Remember how she's a sort of 'god' (but not in the funger way) and has OP ass powers? Well there's actually 2 drawbacks to them.
First one, it is quite exhausting. It is also exhausting just living and breathing in fact, but that's the mental disorders. She can go on long without rest but she will be extremely fatigued if she pushes. And my, she pushes a through a lot.
Second, there's one thing that nullifies her powers. Fear. But ah, with a soul like hers, it is quite difficult for her to fear anything. With problems in her way, she either brushes it over, gets enraged, or drowns in sorrow. How on earth could anything scare her?
Ahaha... Well a few actions made by a specific person could scare her...
Tumblr media
(he soo gets off being the only one that can get her into such a submissive state, btw)
The one thing keeping her heart from total darkness, now entirely painted black. What a sad soul.
...
So, he didn't kill her. big whump. Fine though, she thinks about the termina festival in 350 years. She wouldn't mind living for that long to see more silly people. Plus, the dungeon took a lot out of her. A lot more magic she used than usual. This period will be... A nice and long break, she thinks positively. One hell she has endured in here, she will prepare to live through and enjoy another. Plus, if it's all adrenaline rushes, how is she meant to savour Termina?
She occupies her time by living with Pocketcat, and.. His usual activities. She joins in on his child murders from time to time. Not as fun as killing monsters that are fully intending to end her life but snuffing another life is still somewhat satisfying, nevertheless. And hey, fun bonding activity, right?
She also does the same as she did in the void, making a bunch of art and stuff. But this time, she actually has someone she can show it to! Speaking of the cat, they do typical lover activities time to time. Dates, and stuff. Doing things together. Fun!
Both of them had their fair share of isolation for a long period of time and needless to say, their 'eternities' are much more lively and worth living through with a like-minded being by their side.
She also.. has a little fun with the contestants before they enter the worst period of their life..
(This part is totally not because of recent events) After spending 350 years with Pocketcat, she picked up some of his mannerisms to her misfortune. Her hand feels like it should be doing something within conversation, so her subconscious makes her jack off a ghost dick. She's gonna have a fun time with talking to people.
...
Now we're at the festival, one meant to end all festivals! And boy it'll end more than just festivals, alright! Hehe.
At the end of this festival, she has one plan.
And that is to finally rest.
She will not be returning from this trip.
...
So, some stuff were left vague because. well. yeah. I don't fully expect to write this into actual fanfiction, but no worries, I'll reveal the gist of what happens at some point. Whether I actually can find it in me to write it out or just make a post about what happens, we shall see.
Extra stuff to mention:
This is basically her. In every universe she visits.
Tumblr media
You can check out the '#unnamed OC core' tag to see. More of her vibes.
I also got a playlist.. of her..
(Also, since this is a self insert about half of the traits mentioned are. me. so. yeah. I should try getting diagnosed for something but idk man I can't find shit)
Got any questions! Feel free to ask anything!! >:3 Hell, I'll even answer in character for fun.

Rhaenyra is so boring there is literally nothing to hate. She’s a self insert for fans to imagine themselves with daemon 🤡
At least book Rhaenyra had a (horrible) personality. Adult!Rhaenyra is just a self insert it’s insane. She has no fan base outside of daemyra. I haven’t met a single Rhaenyra fan who isn’t also a daemyra fan and supported Rhaenyra being in a relationship with her gr00mer and the man that physically abused her. I mean I love nettles but I don’t really support dettles, but at least daemon LOVED her. He was always loving towards her and preferred to die than live without her (and return to Rhaenyra lol)
So you can def be a nettles fan and support her relationship with daemon because it was loving. But how can you be a Rhaenyra Stan and support her relationship with a man that treated her like shit?
The way I see it, daemyra fans are not really Rhaenyra fans. They don’t give a shit about daemon gr00ming / abusing her.
🙌🏽 At this point I don’t even hate Missy Anne, her fans, on the other hand, are getting on my nerves. Everything they accuse other people of doing(lying, not reading the books, using characters to spite other characters, sexism, racism, yes I’ve seen them accuse people of being racist yet they are the ones calling people half breeds, and monkeys🫠) they actually have done 🤦🏽‍♀️
They’ll* scream bloody murder if you rightfully point out Daemon abused her, their relationship wasn't healthy, and he didn't love her. They'll even go so far as to claim you are trying to “stripe her character,” but they don't want Nettles with a man who actually loved her(and if you support Dettles you somehow want Nettles to be “abused” and are only doing so to hurt Miss Magor).
This is a tale as old as time because every fandom does this any time a Black girl is the love interest so the fact that they want us to ignore this pattern is nuts.
They are nuts.
*Most of her fans are Dumbnyra stans, but you have a couple of Rancid stans who hate Daemon’s guts and use Alicent as replacement Daemon.

Disappointed but not surprised by Shadow and Bone white fandom churning out ice cold takes of "Actually, the centuries old white man with great magical and political power and wealth including having a literal army is just misunderstood uwu even as he uses classic manipulation tactics against Alina and Mal, and Actually Mal the teenage boy of color is The Worst because *insert ridiculous reasons, including calling him an ~abuser~"
My thing is....... white women just keep proving that they DON'T actually ~love~ villains, they love white men and women doing atrocious things sure, but they will keep making excuses and claiming "They Were Right" while clutching their pearls over characters of color being ~rude~ (if they even were)
People missing the point of the narrative and applauding The Darkling demeaning Mal as a "child" who will grow old and die while Alina stays young and will basically have no choice but to be with him out of lack of options. Like..... first of all, he admits himself that Mal is a child yet is pursuing Alina who's the same age 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 It's reminding me of the discourse on Twitter where white women were foaming at the mouth over John Boyega and saying they prefer Rey with Kylo because "At least he's openly bad, I'd prefer that over a wolf in sheep's clothing" referring to Finn aka tapping into centuries old "Black men are predatory beasts and a danger to white women" stereotypes
I mean, damn. If Mal is ~bad~ cuz he got upset at Alina, then what does that make the Darkling who literally enslaved her and mutilated her and took her power for his own?
I need to preface this with the admission that I've only seen the television show. I've never read the books, so take my observations with a grain of salt.
The hostility toward Mal's and Alina's relationship is the same hostility every lead protagonist or character of color or lead protagonist of color in a relationship (romantic or otherwise) with the audience self-insert receives from fandom nowadays. They are immediately placed in a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation.
If they are seen by the audience to never step out of line, to never have breakdowns, to never make unreasonable demands, and to always strive to do the right thing, they are boring. It doesn't matter if that is what actually happens on the screen or not.
If, on the other hand, if they are seen to make a single mistake, if the narrative gives their suffering validity, if they are written to have moments where their emotions overwhelm their morality, if they any express doubt in others at all, then they're not actually the lead protagonist.
See how that works?
This isn't a coincidence. This is not an accident. This is the end result of decades of Hollywood behavior focusing the audience on the emotions of white men. I'm an older person, I'll admit, but I've noticed something over the years: ever since Hollywood has started to bow to pressure to be more diverse, to give lead protagonists positions to characters of color, the amount of attention paid to white villains has increased significantly.
I guarantee that we wouldn't be having this conversation if The Darkling had been played by Daveed Diggs rather than Ben Barnes.
Mal spends most of the show finding a way to be with Alina, to get back to Alina, to protect Alina. He literally has no other motive through the entire story. Why? Because as far as I can tell, she's the most important person in his life since the time he was a child. He knows her, he loves her, he values her. He reacts badly when he thinks that she's moved on without him. He is scared of what her nature as a grisha and a saint might mean for their relationship, and he expresses that to his childhood friend without artifice or restraint.
Their conclusion -- this young man has the nerve to express emotions that are important to him. The gall! /sarcasm
Now, the Darkling is a centuries-old sorcerer who has been looking for the prophesied saint for most of that time, because it will enable him to complete his plans for world domination. He has devastated the land in his actions, manipulated high officials, built up a cadre of minions answering only to him. He doesn't need Alina; he needs her power.
Now, does the Darkling develop feelings for Alina? I think so. But I can also tell by the actions he takes on the screen, that it doesn't matter. His feelings, whatever they are, are immaterial compared to his plans. How do I know this? Because, as you say, he manipulates her, he mutilates her, and if she won't do as he wants after all that, he'll attempt to directly control her.
As I said, I haven't read the books, but I don't think that the Darkling has summoned his demon army from the rift because he wants to use it to win back Alina's heart.
I can see the appeal of dark romance between two powerful and ruthless individuals. But Alina is not Lady MacBeth. Once it became clear that the Darkling had been lying to her from the start, when the Darkling's own mother warned her of what type of person he was, and she saw it for herself, she tried to run away.
And yes, Mal got angry with her. He had the audacity to think that, as a human being, he was allowed to believe his emotions mattered.
It's the same thing I've seen repeated in my fandom, Teen Wolf, in Star Wars, in other television shows -- it's a form of white privilege. Media has conditioned us to respond to the needs of white characters, first and foremost. When a property goes against this, as they do, there's resistance, and part of that resistance is a hostility toward characters of color acting as if their needs are on equal footing. If a white male isn't the lead protagonist of the show, don't worry, the fandom will find the nearest white male antagonist and transform them into the protagonist.

Gsc drabble for Silver talking about how his dad is Giovanni with Gold and Kris because I might have forgotten but I'm not sure he really mentions it to them?
(He tells them during HGSS, so this is afterward)
"Watch where you put those boxes! We want to still have our stuff when we get to Sinnoh." The daycare lady sat in a kitchen chair where she had been 'resting' for the last hour.
"Yeah, yeah." Gold set his load down, years worth of breeder magazines peeking out of the top box. Gold had a way of flitting from person to person to keep himself from getting bored, and Crystal was his next target. She stood by the counter in the day care couple's home, looking at the egg Red and Emerald's Snorlax had made, which sat nestled in a warming cloth. "So." He inserted himself directly into her field of vision. "There's a great stir fry place in Goldenrod. We should go there after this."
She set her boxes of kitchenware down, which were stacked neatly in order of size. "Gold, we just finished fighting a big battle a couple hours ago. I don't think it's a good idea..." Her gaze shifted to Silver in the corner of the kitchen. He had hardly spoken since Gold had dragged both of them to the day care after the fight with Arceus, alternating between scratching around at the boxes and rereading the Proteam Omega project proposal. "The three of us haven't spent that much time together, but I don't think that's normal for him."
"No really, we should go there."
"We should rest after a fight." She picked her boxes back up. "Besides, I have a lot of work to do after this."
"You work too much," he muttered after her. They got busy loading the moving truck on the loud and specific instructions of the day care lady. Gold continued being his usual self, earning more than one kick from Crystal. Some things hadn't changed much since they first met five years ago.
"Where are you going after this?" he asked as he handed Silver the last box to pile into the back of moving truck.
Silver shrugged and slid off the back of the truck, boots hitting the ground, and Gold jumped up and grabbed the door latch, using his weight to pull it down and shut it. He liked throwing his height around now that he had it. "I'm going to train with Pryce." His voice was somehow even more monotone than usual.
"And you're cool with that? Him being back?"
"None of your business," Silver said, turning his back on him and heading toward the house, and Gold, miffed, followed him.
"It was no trouble at all," Crystal was telling the day care couple with a bow. The house was now gutted, completely empty except for the egg, which Gold would be helping them hatch shortly. "I hope the trip goes well."
"We'll manage," said the day care man.
"I'll be easier without Gold bothering us," said the day care lady, but she was smiling, and Gold whispered "old hag" loud enough for her to hear.
"I think we'll stop by and see Elm before we go. It's hard to leave old friends."
Crystal said something in response, but Gold had stopped listening, instead catching Silver out of the corner of his eye as he picked up his coat from the kitchen and put it back on over the black long-sleeved shirt he wore under it. Silver was good at disappearing; he could almost make himself invisible when he needed to. One of the perks of a rough childhood, Gold figured, though he couldn't imagine what it had been like and he didn't try to. Gold turned abruptly and followed him out, earning a curt "Gold!" from Crystal for walking out in the middle of being asked a question.
The dirt was warm from the afternoon sun as Gold planted his pool cue in the ground. "Hey!"
Silver stopped just as he was taking out Honchkrow's pokeball. Gold could be exhausting sometimes. "Yeah?" he said, and it came out more weary than intended.
"Why didn't you tell us at the tournament?"
Silver turned to face him. "Tell you what?" Crystal came hurrying out of the house after them. It was like she expected a bomb to go off every time Gold was around.
"That your dad is Giovanni. It's been, like, years, dude."
"Everything okay?" asked Crystal.
"Silver was just telling us about his dad."
"Don't be insensitive, Gold."
"I'm not!" He turned to Silver, indignant. "I'm not going to let you disappear without talking about it. The three of us never see each other outside of fights. We never hang out! I know you need to talk about it, and I'm not letting you go until you do."
Silver frowned, then sighed. Gold had a way of thinking the universe revolved around him, but he meant well. Usually. "I don't know how I feel, okay?"
"Elaborate."
Silver slid his thumb around the button on Honchkrow's pokeball and considered leaving the situation like he usually did, but Crystal's words from earlier today, about communicating with the people you care about, played in his head. "I want to be with him, be part of a family, but I can't stomach what my father does. That's why I'm going to stop him. It's the same as I said back there."
"Oh, Silver," said Crystal. "We'll help you, you know that, right?"
"I know how to fix your problem," said Gold.
"Yeah?"
Gold's biggest smile split his face. "Yeah. There's this great stir fry place in Goldenrod. The three of us should go."
"I don't see how--" Crystal started saying, but Silver said "Okay" and Gold looked over the moon.
"I'll call you," said Gold. "And you'd better pick up."
Silver looked at Crystal, then back at Gold. "Okay." He still needed time to think about everything, about Pryce and his dad and Team Rocket, but having lunch with his friends sounded nice. It wasn't something he would have even considered years ago, but he has changed a lot since the three of them had first met. And looking at Gold, he realized he might have changed too.

Dick: he's ugly and we as a fandom need to accept it, it's fine... literally every other guy dc draws is ugly too
He will never be as good as ntt Dick and that kind of annoys me. I miss him being a bit of a mess, i know the ric arc just happened but like idk, i just want him to stay awake for 3 days straight and get shot or something.
Idk my other unpopular opinion is that I don't think he undermines other characters simply by existing. I've seen him accused of undermining Damian's relationship with his parents, but yeah, no, I think Bruce's writers are doing it to themselves, and Talia's writers are racist so like how is that Dick's fault? He can be a cool big brother/mentor and Damian can still have other good familial relationships. He can be written as balanced to Barbara instead of undermining her position in the family (Dixon's run is a good example) and I don't think he undermines Cass's chances at being Batman because let's be real. Even if Dick was dead, they'd give it to loosely affiliated to the batfam man #27493 instead of Cass 😞 which really freaking sucks.
I also don't think he's hated by DC. He was hated specifically by Dan Didio, and boy does it show (i was rereading whatever crisis it was and my god Dick was def supposed to die), but I think most writers love him and think they're doing their best by him, which is why I theorize a lot of his character flaws have dissapeared (they love him and think he's perfect and don't want to show him as not perfect).
Damian: I don't think he ruins Talia's character (again I think the writers do that good enough themselves), and I like the idea that Talia tried secretly giving him up for adoption and thought he was free of this life, because actually that's incredibly noble and mature of her and tragic and would make a great story and DC please do a good retelling of son of the demon and make it canon-
I haven't actually read a lot of Damian's comics yet because uh i got stuck looking at Batman Incorporated and wanted to do things in order and I don't know 😭 i don't want to see it (but i need to because i like knowing things). So idk i guess i don't have much else.
Oh other than he's not "evil" for pushing Tim off a dino. Nah i don't understand why people take that scene so out of context - like ppl try to make such a big deal out of it but to Damian it like, wasn't personal? He didn't hate Tim in particular he legit just went "oh this is like home i have to kill him to beat the level" and caught Tim slipping.
Tim: Look I just don't like him after reading his comic run. Unpopular opinion: he's good at school and life in general. Like really good. He was being considered for a pretty hefty scholarship before he moved from Bludhaven back to Gotham, he's popular without even trying, and girls pretty much throw themselves at him at the drop of a hat. Bruce does better with him then most other Robins. Despite Jack being an idiot both him and Dana love him and are make efforts to connect with him. Pretty much the entire world in his comic revolves around him. He's a chad, not a loser. And he's also the most sexist robin stop pinning that on Damian, Damian has 2 throwaway lines, with Tim it's a pattern.
Another unpopular opinion: I legitimately think they made Tim the smart one tm because they didn't know what else to do with him and had to set him up as an equal for conflict with Damian and so he could throw his hat in the ring in Battle for the Cowl. I don't actually think it was done for the advancement of his character, I think they desperately needed something to put him on equal footing with the others, and it ended up making him more boring imo, and I think he should go back to being a gifted but otherwise normal kid because yes i found that boring too, but with good writing that's an idea that has potential
Ngl i disregard almost all canon when writing Tim and use him as a self insert, he just does what I would do and thinks like me 🤷‍♀️

Her Cure
➥ Peter Maximoff x Self-insert
➥ Genre: Fluff with a bit of venting
➥ Summary: Peter comes to his girlfriend's house, but wasn't expecting to see her with a down mood.
➥ Word Count: 3.3k
➥ Warnings: Don't read if you don't like sharing Peter as an f/o. This is super, SUPER self-indulgent, so please don't send any hate.
➥ A/N: I'll be using she/her pronouns in this story because I still haven't gotten used to writing myself as 'they' in stories. Also, Peter's little sister's name isn't confirmed. It's just a headcanon of mine that her name is Lorna.

The ringing from the alarm clock on Peter's desk was the very first thing that welcomed him into this new day, but the repeating, annoying sound was immediately dismissed when he slammed his hand on it. He nearly punched down the whole thing due to his pressure. He groggily sat up on his bed and harshly rubbed his eye. "Agh!" He groaned, getting weird glitches in his vision. That didn't stop Peter from doing his routine though, as it quickly disappeared, too.
He went to his closet and changed from his pajamas to his casual wear. The classic black band t-shirt and silver leather jacket. He dashed upstairs once, then came back to his room and grabbed a comb to brush his hair. "Hell yeah, you're looking great." He clicked his tongue and pointed finger guns at himself in the mirror. He finally went upstairs, for real this time.
He was met with his mother cooking breakfast, and the smell of eggs and bacon rose to Peter's nostrils, making him inhale the precious scent. It was a classic breakfast, and he can't wait to eat it.
Finally, after a minute or so, Magda noticed his presence. "Oh, Peter! I didn't notice you there." She looked behind to give her son a bright smile, which he nicely reflected back. "Oh, well, ya know. Just doin' things as fast as I can." Peter shrugged his shoulders, as the sarcasm in his line of voice made the woman giggle. The wide smile stuck on her face as she went back to cooking. "It's almost finished. Maybe you could wake up your sister for the meantime."
Peter nodded in response, and even though his mom wasn't looking, she knew he already obeyed what she said. It's one of the good sides to his mutation.
Not even a minute has passed, and the young boy was already back to his previous spot. The mother looked at him in confusion and opened her mouth to ask, but Peter already knew – almost like predicting it — what she was supposed to say. "She's dressing up. Don't worry."
She smiled again, and expected nothing more or less of her son. When was there a time without Peter ever lightening up the mood? She doesn't remember at least one moment when it felt boring in the house, well, probably except before Peter came.
But none of that matters, as they're all together now.
Soon enough, the youngest member of the family came down. "Hey there, lil sis." Peter greeted his younger sibling, who seemed to be still sleepy. She yawned quite loudly and nearly fell off when she climbed up on the chair. Even with the lack of response, the cute little scene that occurred in front of him made Peter smile. "Still sleepy, huh?" He mocked.
Lorna merely hummed and nodded her head with her eyes still fluttering open. Their mother turned around with two plates in her hand, scooting them over to where Peter and Lorna were sitting. Both of them childishly eyed the well-done dish, their mouths watering in hunger. "Well then, let's dig in." The woman clasped her hands together, and the small family grabbed their respective utensils to start eating.
In just a blink of an eye, Peter was munching down on the food. Maybe too fast. Not even having a single bite, Magda placed down her spoon on the plate. "Peter, slow down." She remarked, quite calmly in fact. As a mother, she had the right to be concerned of her children's intentions.
"Hm?" Peter looked up from his plate, and when he saw the disapproving look on his mother's face, he gulped down the food as hard as he can. "Sorry." He raised his hand as a sign of apology.
A gentle smile replaced the frown on her face. "What's with the rush? Do you have a date?"
Lorna nearly choked on her food as soon as their mother ended her statement. She placed down her utensils and looked over to his older brother with excited eyes. "You're going out with Xelle again?!"
"Whaaaaat?" Peter scoffed. "Noooo." He waved his hand, rolling his eyes as he did so. "I'm just gonna visit her house, that's all." He was supposedly going to continue eating, but Lorna still had more questions. This little girl was always excited when it comes to Peter's girlfriend.
"But it's still considered a date, right?" She raised her eyebrows, awaiting for her older brother's response. Peter opened his mouth to speak, closed it, then opened it again with a cocked brow. "I guess? I mean, we're still going out, so yeah, maybe it's considered a date." He just shrugged it off as he grabbed his glass of water to drink.
Lorna squealed, shaking her arms in excitement, and even rocking her legs back and forth under the table. "Ooooh man! I can't wait to have my sister-in-law!"
Even one single word could cause everything to crumble. Their mother had been listening to their conversations at the start, but she wasn't expecting to hear such words from her daughter. Her eyes widened, while Peter spat out the water he was drinking. Magda quickly scolded him for making a mess in front of them. But then, it's gone in an instant. The table looked clean again.
The mother anxiously looked over to her daughter, giving her an uncertain smile. "Maybe that's too early for your brother, dear."
Tilting her head in confusion, she asked another question. Oh, how different the circumstances will be if Xelle was here right now. She could have hushed the young girl, at least. "Why? Is he not old enough to marry her?"
"Okay, Lorna, I'm only twenty years old." Peter suddenly intruded in the conversation as he wiped the excess liquid on his face. "Plus, I still got college to catch up to. I don't wanna rush things."
Their mother laughed at him. "That's funny coming from you." It took a while for Lorna to register the joke, but even Peter's humor was fast enough for him to understand. He didn't even realize he was making a joke, yet he still laughed along. "Hah, real funny, Mom. Anyway, I gotta go." He took one last bite from his food before dashing off, probably to Xelle's place.
Neither of the two females were able to say something before he left. Magda's eyes brought themselves to check Peter's plate, and she was not happy to see it. She frowned, and even if she knew he wouldn't hear her, she shouted out his name.
He suddenly appeared in the dining room again. "Sorry. Again." He gave his mother an apologetic smile as he grabbed his plate and washed it really quickly. He made sure he got to say goodbye properly this time.
Magda released a sigh. "I sure do hope I'll get a daughter-in-law, too."
The young girl smiled widely at her mother. "So you agree with me!"
Arriving in his girlfriend's place, Peter was refreshed to see the familiar green plants in her tiny little garden. With all the flowers and succulents, her house looked adorable. Thank heavens her father allowed her to live alone. He's been here multiple times already, mainly for checking up on her and taking her out on dates, but when he saw somebody on her doorstep, he stopped in his tracks.
It looked like a woman. Well, at least to Peter. She had long brownish hair and wore fancy clothing, she even had a purse dangling from her arm. There stood Xelle in the doorway, a clear frown on her face. Peter furrowed his eyebrows in worry as he watched this lady talk to his girlfriend. He couldn't hear what they were saying from this distance, so he just stood there. Besides, it was only a few steps away.
A few minutes had passed, and the lady finally turned around and entered her car, which was parked just outside. Peter pretended to walk as a passerby when the car zoomed past him. He looked behind him to check the plate number.
Xelle didn't even bother to look after that lecture from her stepmother. She ran her hand over her hair, tugging on it out of anger, as a long, sad sigh escaped from her lips. She had been fighting off her tears while she listened to those harsh words. She always thought of herself as a crybaby, and now that she finally has some time alone, she closed the door.
"Ow."
Or maybe not.
The female looked at her door, making an assumption that someone was behind it. She looked down at the ground, catching a glimpse of that silver-colored shoe she always recognized, stuck in between the door frame. She immediately opened the door, and to no surprise, she was faced with her boyfriend.
Peter waved his hand as a cute smile was embedded on his face. He didn't even need to say anything and Xelle already found herself smiling again, even the slightest. "Hi, Peter."
That was highly unusual. She'd usually jump at him for a hug or smile widely at him. The young boy noticed her change of behavior, the smile on his face disappearing. "You okay?" He brought his hand down.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She responded, turning around as she allowed Peter to come inside. He was polite enough to remove his shoes and set it aside before actually coming in. He closed the door and followed Xelle into the kitchen, which was just beside the living room.
Washing dishes, once again. Never the same, never different either. Peter watched her fingers gracefully slip past the smooth plates and place them down on a dryer. It was a weird thing for him to observe, but he loved every little thing about her. He can't resist himself.
Xelle was finally done with the dishes, dabbing a towel on her hands to get rid of the wetness, when Peter suddenly appeared beside her. He leaned onto the counter as he smiled at her. "So who was that lady earlier?"
Bringing her gaze to him, she raised an eyebrow at him. "What lady?" She asked as she hung the towel on the fridge's handle. "The lady you were talking to in the doorway." Peter responded, tilting his head while he awaited for her answer.
Xelle narrowed her eyes at him. "You were eavesdropping on us?" She asked in disbelief. The male in front of her widened his eyes and awkwardly laughed. "What? No. I just saw you talking with her." He stood up straight, placing a firm hand on her waist and bringing her over to him. Their bodies ended up colliding each other as their eyes focused on the ones in front of them. "You know I wouldn't lie to you." He pushed back a strand of her hair behind her ear.
She smiled at him, genuinely this time. "I know." As she thought the heavy burden in her chest was finally going to disappear, it just came back again. The corners of her lips deepened themselves into a frown, and to prevent Peter from seeing it, she pushed herself away from him. "But you don't need to worry about her. She's just my stepmother." She walked away into the living room.
Peter was, at first, confused why she suddenly distanced herself like that. The biggest thing that confused him was the stepmother. "Wait, stepmother? You have a stepmom?" He questioned as he followed her path.
"Yeah," she plopped down on the couch, "she and Papa didn't last long, though." Grabbing the remote control, she turned on the television. Her arm was laid out on the couch's backrest while her other one faced the squarish electronic. "But like I said, you don't need to worry about her." A few static sounds were brought to life until she stopped to one channel.
Even if she says that, of course he's still going to worry. Xelle was acting strange and he was not liking it. He pressed his lips into a thin line, shaking his head and stepping towards the couch. "Do you really think," he started as he sat beside Xelle, "I would believe that when you have that look on your face?"
Xelle brought her gaze to him and slightly tilted her head. "What do you mean?" In a flash, the remote control in her hand was gone. She looked at the absence of the object for a quick moment before she looked at Peter, who now had the remote in his hand, with wide eyes. "You know what I mean." He turned off the television and set the remote aside.
The short-haired female merely stayed silent and stared at him with uncertainty, this lack of response made Peter cross his arms. "C'moooon. You can't keep hiding things from me." He cooed a bit teasingly.
She knows she can't. He could always tell when something is bothering her, and that's why she still loves him to this very day. It's one of the biggest reasons why she's so happy every time she's with him. She took one deep breath before crawling over to Peter, to which took him by surprise. "Oop-" He yelped as Xelle pushed him down on the couch. She somehow got in between his legs and made herself comfortable to lay on his chest.
The adorable sight that took appearance in front of Peter's eyes made him chuckle out of amusement. He wrapped his arms around her and smirked down at her. "What, we're just gonna cuddle without even telling me what the problem is?"
Xelle giggled in response. As soon as her light laughter died down, her eyes wandered off to somewhere. "It's just…" She started. "Sometimes it's hard having alexithymia."
"Alexi- wha-" Peter narrowed his eyes, but it didn't take him long to realize what she was talking about. "Ohh, right. Alexithemic."
"Alexithymia." She corrected him.
"Right. Yeah."
She couldn't help but to at least smile at his silliness. "I don't know, it's just, it's hard expressing my emotions." The weight on her body — even though nothing was on her — felt heavy, as she found herself sinking deeper into Peter's embrace. "Especially since I don't have the confidence to speak up." Her hands gently hovered his shoulders. "I mean, it's not very severe, but it's, it's still difficult. It causes misunderstandings."
"Your emotions seep out a lot to me, though."
Xelle brought her eyes to look at him. He had that adorable little smile and raised his eyebrows, as if he was trying to prove what she said was wrong. "I could tell that you're sad, and…happy, oh, and…angry?" His statement sounded so unsure, but that somehow still made her laugh.
That's all he wanted to hear, after all.
A tiny chuckle is enough to relieve him that she's doing fine. He doesn't really consider himself a good person to ask for advice, but if Xelle sees him that way, he'll try the best he can.
Peter caressed the top of her head, despite the shortness of her hair, he wanted to get a better look on her face. "I'm kidding. But what makes you say that?" He tried to continue the conversation.
"Well, you saw my stepmother earlier, right?"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." She fiddled with her fingers and lightly clasped them together as she tried to find the right words to say. Peter could sense a bit of hesitance from her, but nonetheless, he waited for her to speak. "We kinda got into, uh, we got into an argument because I didn't get to say I'm sorry." Fully clasping her fingers together into a tight hold, her breath hitched for a quick second. "It's, it's one of the things I hate about myself."
Xelle was supposed to bury her face on Peter's chest out of the shame, until she felt sudden movement and had no choice but to look up. "Heeey." Peter pushed himself up with his arms and stared down at her. "Just because you didn't get to do something you want doesn't mean you can hate yourself." He said, receiving an astonished look from his girlfriend.
He didn't know what he truly meant, but he was saying it from the heart. He knew how it felt like to hate yourself for the things you do. He just didn't want to see the sweetest girl he had ever met do it to herself, too.
"I mean," his eyes looked everywhere before quickly bringing themselves back to Xelle, "you were considering the fact that you should apologize to her. That already makes you a good person, right?" He attempted to reach out to her face and caress her cheek with his thumb. "Besides, if you hate yourself, I'm hating myself, too."
Eyes burning up in tears, Xelle found herself melting into Peter's touch. A silent weep escaped from her lips, and as she couldn't bring herself to speak up, she just nodded her head in response. It was so easy for her to tear up, and yet Peter doesn't mind any of that. As soon as he saw her crying, he brought her into a hug. At moments like these, it felt like her alexithymia was gone.
Peter was her cure.
What sounded like sniffs turning into sobs eventually took over the conversation as the couple found comfort just by being in each other's arms. Peter gave her the time to let out her tears, giving her occasional back rubs and gripping onto her like he didn't want to ever let her go. It always hurt him to see her like this.
When her tightened posture finally loosened up, and her breath seemed to slow down, Peter also found himself finally calming down. It almost felt like their heartbeats were synchronized, being so physically close to each other gave them more of a chance to be connected.
Just as Peter opened his mouth to speak, his ears was met with something he never expected to hear on a day like this,
"I love you."
His eyes widened. "What?"
"I said I love you, Peter."
Did she really say that? She never voluntarily says 'I love you' to anyone, including Peter himself. Did she just really say 'I love you' to him?
"I- Wow-" He stopped himself mid-sentence as he chortled. Xelle pulled herself away and took a glance at her boyfriend's shocked expression. The corners of her lips brought themselves up to form a smile as she breathed out a laugh. "What, you're not used to it?" She teased.
"Yeah, well," Peter shook his head, "you never say those three words to anyone." He spoke through gritted teeth. Xelle's chest felt lighter as she released another hearty laugh. That laugh of hers that always gets Peter's head in cloud nine. It's something he always treasured, and now that he heard it again, he almost flinched when he felt her hands fondle with his cheeks. "Then consider yourself lucky." She placed a peck on his nose before nuzzling her face in his neck.
Peter was left speechless, his mouth slightly agape, after that unexpected occurrence. That quick nose kiss made his heart skip an extra beat. He was weak for those types of kisses. He doesn't know why, but he always gets flushed and hot when he receives affection from Xelle — let alone her rare, peculiar, wholesome behavior.
He was going to wrap his arms around her, when an idea popped in his head.
"Hey, you know what?"
She hummed in response, staying in position.
Peter grabbed her shoulders and gently pushed her away, grinning widely at her.
"I love you too." Using his superspeed to his advantage, he showered her with lots of kisses on her face. To Xelle, it felt like she was being tickled. She laughed out loud as she tried to cover her face from any further kisses, but they still kept coming. Overwhelmed with the amount of love she's getting, she just slammed her hands and managed to catch Peter's face, finally closing in their distance and placing a firm kiss on his lips. It wasn't long enough before he gave in and returned the pleasure to her.
At this moment of time and day, Xelle feels content with everything that involves Peter.

First: I’m so glad to talk about this with someone else haha. I don’t like the travelers as well lol I think they’re too boring and they limit the story too much. Also their stans are so annoying and they keep dragging everyone else into their mess cause apparently we are all obliged to LOVE the twins. That’s also the reason why I hate any shipp with the twins… but I have a special hatred towards the one with childe and the not male traveler for many other reasons.
Second: I would like to talk about Childe himself since he seems the type of character you tend to like a lot as well. And how people seem to have a misconception about him that made my poor son a fckboy that flirts with us and everyone else all the time when actually… he’s just being charismatic and polite, I never saw him flirting with anyone and yet the majority of the fandom insists that he’s trying so hard to seduce us. Sometimes I wonder if these people actually flirted with actual human beings or had any romantic interactions with someone else that’s not a pixel. I don’t mean it in a rude way, it’s just that I find it kinda funny that they see one guy being nice and suddenly he’s in love with them.
Third: I would like to recommend you the show Arcane, if you haven’t watched it yet. You don’t need to play or understand the game (league of legends) to watch, don’t worry. It just seems the type of show you would enjoy since the characters are so well written and there’s no good or bad, it’s just a bunch of people trying to solve their problems while trying to stick to their ideals and all that. It’s pretty complex I think, and if you decide to watch it people keep an eye on my man viktor, he’s my favorite and I like to see your opinion on him.
This response got very long XD
It's always the issue with protagonists in games, they're mostly made to be a self-insert and while the travellers do have their own personalities in the game, it doesn't stop the story and the characters from bending over backwards to love them, especially in the latest archon quest and the character quests that followed where we were suddenly okay with the Raiden Shogen enough to go on basically a date day trip with her and how Kokomi was like we were the only one who understood her and wanted us around more... I just find it really frustrating, I want characters that don't fall for our "charms" like Rosaria and Dainsleaf again T-T And not them dying like Signora.
Manifesting Scaramouche to hate our guts forever XD
It reminds me of Pokemon games, where everyone loves us the 10 year old trainer and while that's okay for games, when it comes to fanfiction I prefer stories where they don't exist and the characters in those regions have to solve the issues themselves! I don't mind the travellers as much in Genshin, or I didn't for Mondstadt and for Liyue because we weren't really alone when we faced the threat of those nations, we were just the support but that changed in Inazuma where Ei took interest in us personally and the resistence didn't really end up doing much of anything, it was just us which ended up being disappointing because I expected more from the support cast. But that archon quest is acknowledged by fandom to be disappointing so hopefully that changes for the Dendro archon.
Moving onto ships: I can safely say I agree with you about Childe and a certain female traveller because I'm so tired of people shoehorning that ship into every other het ship that could have a similar dynamic like Itto and Sara where every other post was like "they're like the Childe and Lumine of Inazuma" and I just wanted them to shut the fuck up and let me enjoy the dumb oni and the tengu warrior he likes to pester T-T Petty? Probably but I don't care.
Don't get me started how people think he's flirting because he calls Lumine "girly". I have no clue how the fuck that is flirting to anyone, especially because I never see the claims for similar dialog for the male traveller, it's always the female traveller they make this claim for. Of course Childe enjoys the company of the traveller, he likes to fight and will befriend people who can give that to him. It's why he's not too angry at Zhongli either and still accompanies him to dinner and drinks (or well he did while still in Liyue) as he wants to one day fight him.
Now if you want to explore that as flirting in FANON then I'm all for that, I'd be a hypocrite otherwise as I like Childe/Zhongli, however I don't go around insisting that the ship is canon seriously because of their canon interactions or that Childe is "totally in love with Zhongli" like I've seen many who ship him with both Lumine and Zhongli do and insert this dynamic into other ships. I get equally annoyed when they do this too because IT'S NOT TRUE. Stay in your own goddamn shipping lane and stop trying to force the ship onto others T-T
People can be so annoying about ships and I just want to tell them to stop being an embarrassment to other shippers.
I really do think Childe is one of the most misinterpreted characters in the fandom as people just like to shove him into stereotypical character tropes instead of exploring his canon personality. It's why I'm so selective of even Zhongli/Childe fics because I want to read about Childe not some depressed fuck boy.
Anyway, I've actually already started Arcane because of how highly my friends recommended it and even the brief amount I've seen of it is already pulling at my feels T-T I'll definitely keep an eye on Viktor when he's introduced.

I don't care for Jaune's character. Would you care to elaborate on why he deserves a second look? Genuinely curious, mun seems to like him very much.
*cracks knuckles*
alright, firstly, you are not obligated to suddenly love him just because i do. all these points and facts and junk i want to bring up don’t need to sway anyone. it’s ok if you still don’t care for him after we’re done.
THIS IS ALSO NOT AN INVITATION TO REBLOG THIS SHIT AND ARGUE WITH ME. you will most likely be blocked lmfao ain’t nobody got time for that.
THAT BEING SAID, you asked so let’s start this shit off hot.
people love to point out jaune’s blaring flaws whenever given the chance. its normal, start with the shit wrong with the person you don’t like. i get it. the most common flaws being his inability to take ‘no’ for an answer from weiss during the first few volumes, and his macho-man bravado that almost cost him his team and respect. while i understand these hit home for a lot of people, and people can relate how uncomfortable a pursuer like that can be, i also want to point out they are still teenagers. jaune is, i believe, 17 during volume one (correct me if i’m wrong but i can’t be far off.) as far as we know, beacon is his first big venture out into the world on his own. he’s probably learned how to interact with others outside of his family from tv, movies, and popular media. how does popular media usually portray the guys in things?
the hero. the suave, muscled, sweetheart who gets the girl with a smile and a strum of his guitar. the guy who saves everyone. he’s also probably used to the women in his life saying exactly what they mean to him. weiss sort of just said ‘no’ a lot and ignored him.
i’m not saying he didn’t make mistakes, of course not. weiss wasn’t obligated to spell out what he was doing was wrong. what i’m saying is everyone in the entire series has made mistakes based on what their upbringing is like, based on what they already know, and what they’ve yet to learn. weiss was literally racist at one point. she had to/is still unlearn(ing) an entire lifetime of bigoted ideals.
jaune wants so badly to be considered strong, to make his family proud, to be the hero, that he is unaware of the people he hurts in the process to get there. this inability to see past his own nose is incredibly human, in my opinion, and a trait that takes time and patience to grow out of. we see him do so in small steps, but they are indeed there; when he defends weiss to neptune, when he pretty much backs away to let her chose, when he apologies to pyrrha, when he stands up to cardin, when he steps up to the ‘leader seat’ after his chat with ruby. the steps become larger after pyrrha’s death. he realizes there can be more going on than he initially sees when he learns about pyrrha’s ‘choice’, and he becomes more aware of other’s feelings, which is made obvious when he reaches out to ruby to comfort her, and make sure she knows they were here with her by choice. i truly don’t think volume one jaune would have been able to catch on just how much ruby was internalizing.
basically, he flubs up, but doesn’t mind admitting that he did so in the first place.
                          MOVING ON.
i may get flak for this but a lot of people say they hate jaune because he’s a ‘screen hog’ and a ‘self insert’ thanks to his va being a head writer. while a lot of people don’t want to admit it, team jnpr was considered to be a large, integral part of the rwby story as a whole, even at the beginning. monty didn’t add in anything that wasn’t necessary, it’s just how he worked. i believe jnpr was just as much a part of the main cast as team rwby. i love rwby for the strong female cast but to immediately demonized any male that gets more than two minutes of screen time in their stead is just. idk man it’s shitty. rwby is planned to be over seven seasons long. just because one season had jaune talking for a whole extra two minutes more than blake in its entirety doesn’t mean the show should be renamed jnpr. like, i mean, ren had a giant chunk of story line near the end of volume four, it almost felt like filler to me compared to the overall story (cinder, salem, the relics, maidens, etc) and no one really was up in arms about it? whether its because ren is more liked or that ren was, in essence, monty’s character, i’m not sure. it just feels a bit centered around jaune when it comes to ‘males are killing rwby.’
ntm the screen time he does get ends up him being comedic relief, usually. (at least before pyrrha died and gave him crippling anxiety lmfao.) people love to shit on jaune but the show literally does it for you. he’s seen constantly being thrown around, screaming at the top of his lungs, saying dumb things (we hit it. HARDER!), being laughed at, and just generally being the ‘lovable goofball’ who needs a pat on the head and some warm milk before being sent to bed. i personally like those kinds of characters, they have the largest room for growth, but a lot of people don’t, and that’s totally ok! but he serves a purpose.
regarding the parts he’s in vol 4 being sad and junk, i made a whole post on why jaune deserves to mourn pyrrha just as much as anyone else, so i won’t repeat it. but here’s the post if you’re curious.
people also dislike him for being a tutorial character, but what we hate to admit is that every good show needs one. again, he serves an important purpose. there’s the guy who has no idea what anything is about and needs to be explained about the world around them; jaune was that for us, the audience, so we could be informed about the lore and world we were being presented. you don’t have to like characters like that, it’s fine, but don’t forget they are there for a reason. literally every good show based in an alternate world/reality has one.
overall….honestly, i find jaune’s growth to be incredibly relatable. here’s this guy who had this idea in his head on who he wanted to be, what he wanted to do, and how he was supposed to do it. while he had good intentions, he was inherently selfish when the series started. i won’t deny that one bit. most people are. we want what we want and we’re sad when it seems like, no matter how hard we try, we won’t get it. he had his moments where even i cringe (why you had to talk to pyrrha like that tho??) but he turns around and tries to make up for it in the end. he learns a lesson, and makes amends. he reminds me a lot of rock lee, this character from naruto whom i have loved since i was a kid: in a show about super powered ninja’s who use chakra to make magic stuff happen, he’s the only normal one. he can’t do anything but fight with his own two hands. but he tries so hard and never gives up and he manages to become on of the strongest characters in the series?
jaune is that for me. he is very human. and humans are inherently flawed creatures. he is inexperienced. he is self-conscious. he is ignorant to certain virtues, and values others too much. he is scared.
but that’s what draws me to him, and characters like him.
tl;dr he’s not perfect but characters that are are boring af
